The published weeks on chart are in brackets after the song title. Some of these do not correspond to Larry's book and are an indication of whether a record charted in the bottom 10 in earlier weeks
    -------------------------------------------------
Larry Gogan uses different charts in his book for 2 weeks that correspond to the weeks 3rd May 1967 and 10th May 1967 in New Spotlight

After this week Larry's chart show seems to revert to using the chart supplied by New Spotlight and Top Ten combined with that magazine. The charts in Top Ten were first published for w/e 11th February 1967 and were noted as the "official charts of the Irish Record industry". They were compiled from over the counter sales from a sample of 50 record shops. It's only for these 2 weeks that Larry uses them though. Eddie Kelly's Top Ten hits book uses the New Spotlight charts throughout this period. I'll post the charts that I have from Top Ten at the end of this thread.

started a topic Irish Singles charts 1967-1969

    Irish Singles charts 1967-1969

    1967

The charts as published in New Spotlight magazine for the years 1967 to 1969. It only started publishing weekly in May 1967 so for the weeks before that some of the top tens were published in Billboard courtesy of New Spotlight so I can begin with those.

The charts were also a Top 30 which differs to what is recorded on www.irishcharts.ie and The Larry Gogan Book of Irish Chart Hits (which the website is based on). They only use Top 15/20 for this period. New Spotlight reverted to a Top 20 in 1968.

So to begin, the charts in Billboard for the start of January are not from New Spotlight and don't seem to correspond to the official listings from Larry's book. The first one that does corresponds to date 16th January from Larry's book or week ending 25th January if I follow New Spotlight's method of cover dates. As I'll be using New Spotlight's dates later on I'll begin with their equivalent date.

Where I've listed records that should be in the chart for a particular week it's only based on the Top 20 data from Larry's book.
