SUMMER HEAT: Based on explosive pre-orders, the forthcoming EP from Capitol's Pop phenom 5 Seconds of Summer (streeting on 4/1) is now looking to move 200k in its first week, with an overwhelming majority of that digital, although there will be a physical release as well. The Aussie lads will hit the road with fellow Modest Management clients One Direction in the summer. If you couldn't hear any of the preceding over the screams of teenage girls, we'll gladly repeat it. (3/10a)
          1. She Looks So Perfect (3:22)
          2. Heartache On the Big Screen (3:24)
          3. The Only Reason (3:22)
          4. What I Like About You (2:31)

$3.95 on Itunes... Looks more like a single to me.

Jared Leto pretty much IS the thing that so many fans keep coming back for, isn't it? I'm not too surprised his appearance alone would be enough

                  • EARLY NUMBERS: Heck, this week's HITS Album Sales Chart hasn't even finished building yet and we've got some forecasts for next week. Given that these are extremely early, bear in mind that the numbers are fluid—and keep checking back daily for updates. Luke Bryan will likely fight it out with Disney's relentless Frozen for #1.

                    Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 60-80k
                    Aloe Blacc (XIX/Interscope) 60-75k
                    311 (311) 35-45k
                    Young Money (Young Money/Republic) 30-40k
                    Sara Evans (RCA Nashville) 20-30k
                    Ledisi (Verve) 20-30k

Speaking of Aloe Blacc, the singer will be appearing live from SXSW on Kimmel tomorrow night. (3/11p)

I'm just discovering this now ... Holy shit! I wonder what went wrong, 80% is already the death mark, I have only seen holiday albums experiencing bigger drops (90-100%) in the week after Christmas before. Was the album taken off the market or something?

I think Madonna held the record for a #1 album drop, not overall one. Not sure though

                                        Yes u r right:
The largest second-week collapse for a top 10-debut was for the rock compilation titled "The Edge" on April 10, 2010. It sold 53,000 when it bowed at No. 4 and then fell by 87.2% to 7,000 (No. 81) in its second week.

I guess people usually check out the previous movies, but in his case he's mostly famous for his music, besides his looks I mean.

Pretty good debut for Pharrell, he could actually end up with a gold album... Cudi's drop was expected, there's no single promoting the album (which was supposed to be an EP until very recently).

A 91% drop was expected? You can't boykott your own project that much to end up with such a horrible drop! I mean this is... I don't even have the words to express how I feel about it.

Normal or expected does not make it less worrisome. It was expected and it is worrisome for chart observers.

what worries me more is the fact that year to date sales are off 15% already... if this trend holds up, Japan could - for the second time - become the largest music market of the world in terms of trade value again. Japan and the US are the only countries that still shift more than 100 million albums per calender year.
