      • stevyy, I wouldn't say labels are in general desperate nowadays. Some music markets on the world are growing again.

What at least German labels are desperate about is the YouTube/GEMA fight though. But that's another topic.

            • YOUR EARLY READS: We may be looking at a four-way race for #1 next week. Jason Mraz (Atlantic), Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie), "Weird Al" Yankovic (RCA) and Rise Against (DGC) all appear headed to the 50-60k range, which should be good enough to top next week’s album chart. You may take all this with the proverbial boulder of salt, but we're resuming our accordion lessons just in case. The following week, of course, will see the big chart bow of Capitol's 5 Seconds of Summer. (7/15p)

                    • Hope someone of them actually surpasses the 60k mark. Kidz Bop Kids is getting its typical opening, it's OK for Rise Against as well, surprised at Weird Al, disappointed at Jason Mraz... Will people only remind him as that I'm Yours guy? Either way, that week's is likely to drop out of the top 10 in week 2 and have a rather nonsignificant chart performance as a whole, that's why it's usually better if they head for a lower debut and instead a big seller or a slowburner make it to No. 1.

Unfortunately, yes. Good for him though that there's still an amount of people that are here for him.

                        • I see Jason at around the 55-58K range or definitely near or over 60K. But he'll probably have a big-ish drop. No real promo from this album.

I Won't Give Up was a huge hit too, sure people still remember that. Mraz is a 2-hit wonder to say the least

Jason was never a really big seller. I think, like Sia, he's benefiting from a slow week though judging from the way HITS wrote it, all these albums listed will all be around 50-60K and anything below it will be between 20 and 45K in the top 20. But Jason has a bit more of a fan base than Sia. This could be his biggest opener too if he does manage to be #1.

                                • @AndiIversen: You mean Rage Against the Machine .

We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. had some great longevity, among the reasons the big hit I'm Yours, ending up selling more 1.7 mio. copies. The follow-up already was quite a drop from that, Love Is a Four Letter Word ended up just reaching gold. And yeah, it included a hit, I Won't Give Up charted for more than 40 weeks, I remember that it kept hovering around the 20s for ages. And it seems like Yes! could end up selling much less with Yes! again, so I think that people really reduce him to I'm Yours, which is why I hope that he'll be able to get another hit in some way.

                                        • Those sales make me cry ... The first week with the No. 50 album selling less than 5k? Overall sales aren't decreasing since yesterday but I think especially the last year has shown an unusually high drop compared to previous years. At least the ones that seem to profit from it by having greater chart runs kind of make up for it.

Well yeah, it's not the worst case scenario but still a disastrous situation. I just don't see Sia making it in the long run, which is why, if we had to go with an album with such low sales, I would've hoped for the Frozen soundtrack or Sam Smith to make it to the top. Something like this is always better, see Zac Brown Band's Uncaged or J Cole's Born Sinner (even if the latter one was really frontloaded going by sales).
