                  • The power of bundles! Is Maroon 5 the first #1 album (on release week) hat only falls one position on its second week, without repeating at the top?

                      • Sorry, I have a question, does HDD count ticket/album sales for Maroon 5? As it was not the case of Cher's "Closer to the Truth", I'm wondering. If the answer is 'no', we are able to see M5 another week at No. 1

                                      • WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES: What looked yesterday like another race for #1 has developed into what appears today to be a decisive win for Barbra Streisand over Chris Brown. Based on one-day reads, we’re calling Babs at around 160k, a lead of 20-25k over Breezy. With next week’s chart-topping album, Streisand will have scored a #1 album in six consecutive decades. Off the top of our head, we can’t think of any other artist who can make that claim. Can you? (9/17a)

Thanks for the clarification!! It might have been a very unexpected No. 1 if that wasn't the case.

Based on one-day reads, we’re calling Babs at around 160k, a lead of 20-25k over Breezy. With next week’s chart-topping album, Streisand will have scored a #1 album in six consecutive decades. Off the top of our head, we can’t think of any other artist who can make that claim. Can you? (9/17a)
It's more than I could have expected. It's just amazing, the pre-orders were masive, she was No. 1 as best-seller in Amazon three weeks and that TV performance was another key for success. So glad the things go like this, her last album "only" debuted with 68k copies.

                                                    • Great prediction also for For King & Country, their debut album didn't even make the top 100 and keep in mind that they are a Christian act, that makes it harder to sell high quantities of albums in general...

I was going to say the same! Long gone are the days when country music used to sell a lot. I wonder if it has something to do with declining physical sales + the country fans not using digital music as much as other fans?

And no, it's wrong to say that country music isn't able to sell well. Luke Bryan's as well as Jason Aldean's last albums did (very) well and don't forget about Florida Georgia Line, even if their music is rather pop/country. There are a few other acts that are doing fine, too, e.g. Miranda Lambert or Eric Church and recently Brantley Gilbert.

                                                            • I will echo what Timmy says and state that while some Country Artists sell very well relative to the US album market for all music genres, most do not sell THAT well.

Big sellers in the genre this decade were Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Zach Brown Band. Recently Luke Bryan has become extremely popular as have new act Florida Georgia Line. Lady Antebellum also had a monster selling album in Need You Now. Blake Shelton thanks to the Voice has been able to sell more than 1 Plat with recent albums and Eric Church also is at that level of sales. Acts that are pretty big names in Country Music like Miranda Lambert and now Brantley Gilbert and Hunter Hayes eventually scrape the Platinum level after a long time. Other major Country acts like Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, George Strait, The Band Perry and Kacey Musgraves are able to achieve Gold albums these days but no more. Lady Antebellum too seem to have declined to this level of sales.

Now Taylor is out of Country we may only see Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean go 2 Plat or higher. The wild card is Garth Brooks, he could be massive now he is back, but who knows what sort of sales numbers he could generate with his forthcoming new album?
