  • trav- indeed. Hence, why Top Album Sales is a viable chart, as it puts everyone on a level playing field/ Even though younger people may be less inclined to buy an album these days, they still will for the biggest younger acts (see Justin Bieber as one example).

As for SoundScan- it's actually been Nielsen Music for a while now, though I know it's hard to break the SoundScan reference.

Another day another mistake from Soundscan/Billboard.
They can't even put their chart facts straight these days.

It’s not a Soundscan thing. BuzzAngle’s chart shows it too.

Her label must’ve accidentally did something.

          • NEW RELEASES: ANYONE'S GAME

If current projections hold, we may have as many as six titles vying for #1 next week. Of the new releases, NF, Lil Pump and Kane Brown are currently projecting somewhere in the 33-43k range. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits, meanwhile, remains a contender as physical shipments have started to hit the stores.

Among carryover titles, Lil Uzi Vert is in the mix as is the resurgent Post Malone, whose Stoney album currently sits at #6 on our SPS chart.

NF (Capitol) 38-43k SPS, 28-32k album
Lil Pump (Warner Bros.) 35-40k, 8-11k
            Kane Brown (RCA Nashville/Zone 4) 33-38k, 23-28k
            Marilyn Manson (Loma Vista/Concord) 28-32k, 25-28k

In other news, we're contemplating a terrifying Halloween costume made entirely of today's news headlines.

                  • If you asked me,i believe Post Malone has (incredibly) the best chanche of being #1.

It will be historic if that happens. A debut album of a raper being #1 after more than 40 weeks.

I never seen something like that.

"I Fall Apart" is at #5 on Spotify at this moment.

I never seen something like that.

"I Fall Apart" is at #5 on Spotify at this moment.
Post Malone going #1 in his 43rd week would be crazy. The last time an album reached #1 so late in it's run for the first time without death related and just off pure growing popularity was Norah's "Come Away with Me" in it's 46th week 15 years ago if I'm not mistaken.

It will be historic if that happens. A debut album of a raper being #1 after more than 40 weeks.

Really classic albums didn't reach that achievement like Taylor Swift first album, Hybrid Theory of Linkin Park and The Fame of Lady Gaga.

On the rap side only remember The Heist of Macklemore doing a very great chart run, but didn't even get close to #1. Pink Friday of Nicki Minaj reach #1 after 10 weeks i guess.

btw, I Fall Apart stills #5 at Spotify and Congratulations at #10.

In the course of three successive weeks, UMG is expected to unleash three superstar releases: Sam Smith (11/3) on Steve Barnett's Capitol, Big Machine's Taylor Swift (11/10) and, if the very loud chatter is to be believed, Shady/Aftermath/Interscope's Eminem (11/17).

                                • No longevity whatsoever for Shania's album, proof that without the ticket bundle it'd be impossible to even dream of reaching 100k first week.

You can't rely on nostalgia to sell new music. A tour? Maybe.

It's not proof of anything - the decline is bigger than usual due to the fact that she had ticket bundles but I still think she'd have topped 100k without them.

Don't be bitter about getting your prediction SO WRONG.

lol at "so wrong", you know I'm right.

No one is here for rehashes, even the cover screams "remember when I used to sing That Don't Impress Me Much 20 years ago in that leopard skin outfit?".

Props to her if she manages to reach 250k in the US which is something even Katy Perry struggled to achieve and that with multiple ticket bundles, but I don't see that happening.

I would find it very disappointing if she doesn't sell 250k.

I always think these days for veteran acts, once they've doubled their opening week, they're pretty much in line with expectations when it comes to the US.

I say 150k opening week and it won't sell +500k in the long run.

                                            • CHART STORY: HIP-HOP ON TOP

Rapper NF’s third studio album, Perception (NF Real Music/Caroline), has exceeded expectations, debuting at #1 on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with more than 53k. The 16-track project had Capitol Music Group’s fastest-selling D2C pre-order of the year.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits (MCA) holds at #2, tacking on 47k, while fans continue to mourn the loss of the late great frontman.

As for the remaining new releases, Lil Pump’s self-titled set—out via Tha Lights Global/Warner Bros.—rounds out the Top 3, while Kane Brown’s Kane Brown (RCA Nashville/Zone 4) bows at #5 with 42k, Marilyn Manson’s Heaven Upside Down (Loma Vista) enters at #9 with north of 31k and August Burns Red’s Phantom Anthem (Fearless) debuts at #20 with nearly 18k.

Post Malone’s Stoney (Republic), meanwhile, returns to the Top 5, landing at #4 with an additional 44k, which makes sense considering the rapper’s currently the most-streamed artist in the world. That said, his latest single “rockstar” f/21 Savage—off upcoming album Beerbongs & Bentleys, due early 2018—spends another week atop our Streaming Songs Chart with approximately 34m more streams. Remember, in less than a month, the track amassed 160m+ streams on Spotify.

And Korean group BTS re-enters this week at #14, in tandem with the physical release of Love Yourself (Bighit Entertainment), which turned heads when it flew to #1 at iTunes in 73 markets upon release last month.

When it comes to the battle for SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 47%, WMG follows with 27% and SME is #3 with 23%, while the indies trail with 3%.

Streeting this week are albums from RCA’s P!nk, Capitol’s Beck and Atlantic’s Gucci Mane, as well as eOne’s Wu-Tang Clan, Loma Vista’s St. Vincent, Matador’s Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile, Big Machine’s Carly Pearce, Epic’s Jessie James Decker and Nonesuch’s Robert Plant.
