Prediction : "Can't Get Out of My Head" at # 1
I'm glad that "Your Disco Needs You" came as a surprise for you. I really appreciate it that you still check out my countdowns despite having a very different taste in music (whilst somehow still liking the same things xD).

That's a lovely predicition and very reasonable. I mean, it's one of her biggest hits and somehow defined pop music that year. Let's see if you are correct in the end ;)

Your list(s) prove that Kylie already has so many great singles and songs under her beld.
I'm glad that two of your favourite songs already made it into my Top 10. Let's see if more songs will appear.

I'm surprised to see "Radio On" being so high. That's a huge achievement for an album track from a record which isn't that well-received amongst diehard Kylie fans.

Your disco needs you is sweet. But somehow I liked it more back then.
A pity that you can't appreciate "Dancing" the same way as I do but I'm glad that you enjoy one of its remixes, though.
Personally, I think that the country elements are the core of the song ;)

Yeah, "Your Disco Needs You" has aged terribly. Nonetheless, it's an iconic classic and I still enjoy it a lot ;)

Whereas I just not really into "Dancing" even after some time passed, the only thing I truly liked about it was the emerald green backdrop in the music video.
I'm glad that "Your Disco Needs You" is part of your favourite Kylie singles as well. Top 20 is an achievement as well ;)
A pity you don't like "Dancing" that much. I thought that we might agree on this track.

"Dancing" isn't bad, but I wanted more oomph from it. Probably a case of sky high expectations.

Phew, relieved to hear you're not crazy about "Better Than Today" either.

It was back in 2011, so my list would look somewhat different now (especially since she's dropped some incredibly enjoyable material since then), but my Top 10 at the time:

              01. "Please Stay"
              02. "Your Disco Needs You"
              03. "What Do I Have To Do"
              04. "Spinning Around"
              05. "On A Night Like This"
              06. "Shocked (DNA Mix)"
              07. "Confide In Me"
              08. "Love At First Sight"
              09. "Got To Be Certain"
              10. "Tightrope"

I'd probably replace "Tightrope" with "The One" (which I had at No. 11) or "All The Lovers" (No. 14), and bump LAFS up a little. I do love Light Years, but having it occupy 4 of my Top 5 was a bit much/imbalanced in retrospect, since I consider Fever my favorite album of hers overall. Thanks for asking!

              • It seemed like Golden got a bad rap around UKMIX, with a lot of users quick to dismiss/deride the country influence, but I found it really satisfying and packed with heavenly country-pop fusions! Other popstars' recent dabbling in more rock and country-tinged material hasn't worked quite as well for me, but Golden hit me as hard as Kylie's material often has in the past, while still sounding different from anything that she'd tried before. It became my most-played album of 2018 by a sizable margin. The "Dancing" lyrics feel pretty relevant at this point in my life (not that I'm close to death or anything but 30 is kind of a big milestone that makes you reflect on where you've been and where you're headed).
              • Absolutely THRILLED to see "Your Disco..." inside your Top 5! Although several of Kylie's songs could arguably be considered "gay anthems," I don't think any of them fit the bill better than this disco/pop gem. It does such a brilliant job of leaving you feeling empowered and ready to dance, dance, dance (through all of this...) The fabulous "Casino Radio Mix" was one of the main reasons I sought out the UK Tour Edition of Light Years.
"Better Than Today" is a catchy tune and I do like listening to it but it has never been single material. It killed the era :(

Oh, I wasn't even a member of this forum back in 2011. Thank you for (re)posting your Top 10.
"Please Stay" is a very unusual choice! - I like it, though! I discovered the track because it was part of a Polish compilation titled "Popcorn" back in 2001. I played it quite often without knowing that it was Kylie, haha.

I'm glad that your #2 and #5 have already appeared on my countdown ;)

"The One" is a great track, I would place it higher than "Tightrope" as well. "Light Years" was an excellent album and it's definitely not a crime in the Kylie universe to worship these singles that much

I agree! "Golden" was so refreshing and helped Kylie getting back on track. She was so lost with "Kiss Me Once" which was mediocre and basic as hell (minus very few tracks) but "Golden" was instant yet different and enriched Kylie's discography by adding a new sound.
OMG!!!!!! I feel you! I am about to turn 27 later this week and I'm already "afraid" of getting closer to that 30 milestone. It makes you reflect on your life (not thinking about death or anything).

Hehe, truth told. Kylie does have a few gay anthems under her belt but personally, I think that "Your Disco Needs You" is like the gayest of them all. It's fun, iconic, instant, joyful and a bit shady. I love everything about it!

I need to check out the Casino Radio Mix, though.

After watching some of her interviews and live shows, I really got impressed by her being so down to Earth and really really nice person with lovey attitude.

Speaking of Timebomb, I really think it's one of the best thing she's ever recorded (and yes I hate with passion Especially for You and I Should Be Lucky, hope non of them are yet to come lol). On A Night like this is fab too! According to my Last.fm, Timebomb is the most played track, with Cupid Boy and Get Outta My Way next.
Are you sure that her Glastonbury performance didn't cause your desire to listen to her again? - It made me think of her career again and appreciate her artistry. She has so many hits under her belt! What an icon! - I'm glad you're falling in love with her again. She's such a sweetheart and deserves to be loved xd

Yes! Finally someone who agrees on me that "Timebomb" is an excellent pop track.

"Cupid Boy" is my favourite album track on "Aphrodite" (together with "Closer"). I'm glad we can agree on Kylie! That's awesome!

At first, I was a bit disappointed as well because I was expecting Kylie's comeback to be lead by a "disco pop" anthem but in the end, I think that "Dancing" was the perfect choice. More oomph would have probably killed off the uplifting vibe and her "let's reflect on live" attitude. I wouldn't mind her to create another "X", though, to provide us with some more oomph-driven innovative tracks, though.

                  • #4: "Where The Wild Roses Grow (with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds)" (1995)

A Kylie Top countdown wouldn't feel right without "Where The Wild Roses Grow" making the cut. Even though the song itself doesn't appear on any studio album by Kylie, it's an essential masterpiece and part of her artistry and career + it is part of all her best of albums. Even though one might argue that it sounds more like a Nick Cave adn the Bad Seeds song, one should keep in mind that Nick wrote the song with Kylie in mind and Kylie's vocal tone perfectly fits the errie yet hauntingly beautiful sound of the song. The strings, the bells and how the dialogue tells the story of a killer meeting his victims gets the every time.

Brilliant music video, especially when Nick places a perfect rose into Kylie's mouth!

                    • #3: "Slow" (2003)

We've finally reached the Top 3 and I think it's a very perfect way to kick it off with "Slow" which is - according to Kylie herself - her favourite song of her entire career and I can see why: It's timeless whilst being inspired by the synthpop sound of the 80s. I admire the minimalist production which provides Kylie the opportunity to shine. She sounds incredibly seductive on this track and is somehow flirting with the listener. It's a captivating as hell: The pulsating beat at the beginning already makes you dive into the song.

EDIT: I only wish Body Language was just as bit off from the sound of electronic music back then and slightly experimental (for mainstream) as Slow was.

Well, as you can see in my most played list: I LOVE the Golden album. It's my favorite Kylie album ever! So it's not really a surprise to see one of those songs in my favorite list as well. This time I chose Radio On, but it could easily have been one of the others. What I love about Radio On, which made me go for this one this time, it's always a joy to listen to. Some of the other songs, you have to be in a certain mood.

                                • Slow is great, such a sexy song. And it even grew on me over the years. I think her performances of it are one of the reasons for it.

Where the wild roses grow is a nice song, but I don't come back to it so often. Maybe because it's a duet.

                                    • I remember seeing Roses for the first time on TV and I fell in love with this immediately! Actually I didn't even match Kylie from Locomotion era with "dark" and more mature Kylie - which is a good thing, I really hate 80s Kylie. I always skip those tracks when I listen to Step Back compilation.

I remember also that VIVA TV overplay this song to death even if it wasn't that successful in Germany I think.

I also remember I was shocked that "Slow" scored #1 in UK - Its probably her less catchy #1 ever

                                          Simple answer: No.

I do like Dannii somehow but Kylie's career is way too hit-loaded and captivating... None of Dannii's tracks did ever have an impact on me (sadly).

Also, her incredible live performances at the "Aphrodite" and "Kiss Me Once" tours made me adore it.

Preach! Glad we can agree on "Slow". I agree! When I bought "Body Language" a few years after its initial release, I was a bit disappointed because "Slow" set the bar really high and the follow-up singles were great as well. Personally, I think that "X" was her first excellent album, imo, whilst she always had brilliant singles.

What I love about Radio On, which made me go for this one this time, it's always a joy to listen to. Some of the other songs, you have to be in a certain mood.
Wow! I wouldn't call "Golden" her best album but I'm glad that the record has huge fans like you. Personally, I think it's very underrated amongst Kylie fans and I think it's a great way of Kylie showcasing a different side of hers as well as gracefully growing old.

I just love the meaning of the track as well as the song's production that much.
Glad you agree on "Slow", though ;) Thanks for comin' into this thread ;)

Where the wild roses grow is a nice song, but I don't come back to it so often. Maybe because it's a duet.
Yes! I'm glad you love "Slow" as well and I agree, the performances made me fall in love with the track as well.
                                              Like "I'm A Slave 4 U", I didn't get this track when I was a kid.

One has to be in a certain mood to fully enjoy "Where The Wild Roses Grow". I love it that it's so risky. A huge milestone in Kylie's career.

Sadly, I was too young to have seen it on TV but I guess it must have been a wonderful experience as a music lover back then. I mean, the song as well as the music video was VERY risky for Kylie. Pretty sure it might have come across as very shocking and provocative to some people.

Despite not reaching a very impressive peak in Germany (#12 is still great, though), it was a huge hit, though, reaching #65 in the year-end chart of 1996.

I think the reason what causes this awkwardness is that Kylie's persona is basically the opposite of Nick's.
She's so talkative, light, bright, lovely and charming whilst Nick doesn't seem to like being there at all.. even his attempt to warm up by saying that "not so funny" joke about penguins didn't help Thanks for posting, though!

Actually, I haven't known about "Confide In Me"'s existence before buying "Ultimate Kylie" but the moment I heard it for the first time, the song's magic kept the captivated. WHAT A TRACK. I love it how the song's melody and Kylie's delicate voice harmonise and fits the song's lyrics (Kylie being manipulative trying people to confide in her). I love the electronic-orchestral intro as well as the slight Middle Eastern influences and its flirty yet mystical character.

Hurts covered this masterpiece and it's flawless as well:

I do like Dannii somehow but Kylie's career is way too hit-loaded and captivating... None of Dannii's tracks did ever have an impact on me (sadly).
The more I think about it, "I Begin To Wonder" would have entered my combined top somewhere around 5th-6th place, it's just that good, it's probably the only one in terms of production that is up with Kylie's best.
And in 1997 Dannii outdid Kylie chart-wise (crazy since the 90s had my favourite Kylie eras)

                                                      • #1: "All The Lovers" (2010)

The "Aphrodite" era has a special place in my heart because it's the first one which I experienced as a fan of Kylie's. As previously mentioned, I haven't been a huge fan before (apart from liking/loving most of her singles) but "Aphrodite" was the first album by Kylie I bought on the day of its release.
When I heard "All The Lovers" the very first time, I was completely sold. The track is a pop masterpiece and gave me a "Hung Up"/Madonna moment. It was a clever idea to hire Stuart Price for this project because he helped Kylie to cement her status as a pop icon and evolve her sound (without leaving her territory). The song itself spreads a euphoric and uplfiting atmosphere and epitomes the essence of "Aphrodite" perfectly.

Btw, the music video was heavily criticised for including a kiss between two men and Russia even demanded a censored version but Kylie refused to get her art censored. What a Queen <3 - Sadly, the music video was banned in highly religious Asian countries. The world doesn't deserve her.

                                                        • "All The Lovers" is a beautiful, dreamy and inspirational song (a tough feat to get all those features at once), but I always doubted its commercial appeal which is a necessity for the lead single. It's almost as if "Get Outta My Way" would have fared better chart-wise had it been the "Aphrodite" lead.
