      This will be fun!

Christina used to be my #1 artist during the Stripped and BTB days, but she completely lost me now. I still love her older work though and Fighter has to be one of her strongest moments. Such a tune and like you described, I was also always so excited to see the video back in the day. I was obsessed with her 'moth look'.
The Voice Within has always been rather dull for me, but Can't Hold Us Down is massive. Gimme a feminist anthem and I'm happy and Christina x Lil Kim is a perfect combination,
i wanna see you on your knees, wanna see you begging

and yes, in my top 150 artists of all times, there are only 42 female solo artists. It's a Man's world, baby.
Your last.fm charts are really dominated by (mostly very talented) men. #41 ain't bad. Any chance Britney will be part of your Top 20?

I am surprised. Even though I can still remember seeing "The Voice Within" quite often on MTV, I think that this single is slightly underrated among Christina's singles. Usually, people have heard "Genie In a Bottle", "Dirrty" or "Beautiful" first. So the song has a very special meaning to you ;) And I agree, her look is great!

Thanks! - Oh really? Do you have a link to your Countdown? I would like to have a look at it. So our ranks for these three songs are quite similar but they are pop masterpieces on their own, so it is not much of a surprise ;)

Yes, I will only include singles. I would like to present my Top 10s of singles of many and different female pop artists. "Mainshow Goes Diva" is some sort of a series and I think that singles would attract more people + I don't have all albums by artists about to be covered in this thread ;)

I'm glad you like these two choices as well.

Regarding other entries taken from Stripped, I can only quote the Queen of Pop: "You'll have to wait and see"

The same goes for "Can't Hold Us Down". I love that she explored more in the R&B and hip-hop territory, but it was left forgotten in the Stripped era.
Truth told. "The Voice Within" needs to get more credit. It is entirely beautiful and one of the finest singles by Christina! It shouldn't be forgotten.
I think "Can't Hold Us Down" is in a slightly better position. Fun fact: It's part of the "protest songs" section of a commonly used English books for pupils here at German schools

            Hey Mainshow

Loving this Christina Aguilera countdown...but when the first three entries are all from Stripped then its not difficult to see way.

Personally i think Fighter is an outstanding fierce pop anthem and prefer this over tracks like Can't hold us down. The voice within is a sublime ballad.

Had to think about which single i'd regard as my absolute favourite so will be interesting to see where it appears.

Great to see this massive tune being part of your all-time top 5 tracks by Christina. I think she might have gone over the top with the chorus but I also can understand why she did it; I mean, it's an important message she was about to transfer and that we she made women reunite somehow ;)

Hey! I am glad you like this countdown so far ;) - I hope that the next updates aren't that predictable. It's not my fault that so many "Stripped" singles are included in this Top10 singles countdown, I mean, the released songs are just great (in my opion) and it's her peak as an artist (tbh).

                #7: "Oh Mother" (2007)

After dropping three singles taken from "Stripped" on this countdown, it's time to move a bit further into Christina's discography.
"Oh Mother" - the final single of her massive comeback album "Back To Basics" - is one of my favourite singles by Christina despite not having set the charts on fire (sadly). However, it was quite successful on German radio and I remember the song being heavily played on several radio stations. I think it was her last hit here.
Looking back, I have to say that I admire and deeply respect Christina for releasing such personal and deep pop tracks as singles. It is not easy to talk about such things in public, especially when she had to face an abusive childhood herself. Again, I love Christina's soft and fragile voice at the beginning of this ballad before she decides to go all vibrato and powerful at the end of the song.
                Underrated masterpiece!

P.S.: I honestly despise live music videos

                  #6: "Dirrty" (2002)

Another single taken from "Stripped" has to fall. This time, it's her signature song "Dirrty", clearly a career-defining moment. Christina had to re-invent herself as an artist since she had been perceived as a rival or copycat of Britney's during her first era (even though they are different worlds apart vocally; just talking about the first singles + the image and not having much control). Christina went down the whole shocking route and started to be the baddest bitch of 'em all. Her Bubblegum Pop/Teen pop image had been definitely slaughtered by this track and its accompanying and very risky and over-the-top music video. I can still remember my mother being in shock when she entered the living room when I was watching the video on MTV
I have to admit that I wasn't a fan of the track at first but during my clubbing days, I started to appreciate it and it's one of the best anthems to dance to at a gay night out, tbh. . Love it now!

The Voice Within: I never would have chosen it as a single over 'Infatuation', 'Make Over', 'Cruz' or 'Get Mine Get Yours, but still a very beautiful song. The video makes it extra special.

Can't Hold Us Down: A good song with a great message. Christina did feminism way before all other pop girls. It's a shame the lyrics of the song are still relevant today.

Oh Mother: Not one of my favourites, but definitely a very sweet song as a dedication to her mom.

Dirrty: Oh boy, where do I start? This song is personal to me. May sound weird, as it's a club song and it has no deep message, but it really is. Not only this is THE perfect club banger and dance floor filler, it's a track that made me feel comfortable with my sexuality. I hope that makes sense.

Ohh no, i love Stripped. That's why i love the first part of your countdown. Although tbh it's the only Christina album i bought. I wasn't overly sold on Back to basics (double albums usually mean a lot of filler ).

I vaguely remember Oh mother but don't think it was a big hit in the UK. Ahh, listening to it now and i do remember this song. It's a good song but not one of my absolute favourites. Dirrty on the other hand is amazing. I don't think anybody expected a song quite like that when it first came out.

As much as i do love Dirrty there were two other Christina singles that i regard as her best two songs...and they're both ballads.

Oh Mother is a stunning track, probably one of her most personal tracks and a brave decision to actually release it as a single. It has always been one of the higlights on BTB for me

Dirrrty, again another wow moment for me when I first saw it on VIVA back in the day. It was very sexual back then but compared to nowadays I feel it's quite tame.... or maybe it is just me haha

Our radio station here loved to play Oh Mother when it came out and it is a beautiful song but I need to be in a certain mood to listen to it. It's a beautifully sad song.

Thanks for sharing! That's why I thought that presenting singles only can be quite attractive. I can see myself doing a Top 10 Beyoncé or even P!nk at some point. It's also a way to "discvoer" some tracks by artist which aren't my favourites either. I'm really glad you like my first 5 songs so far! Hopefully, you'll like the rest as well ;)

I don't agree on what you said in your first phrase. Personally, I think that "The Voice Within" is truly beautiful in every way possible. Maybe I got also a bit influenced by the fact that I bought "Stripped" after "Bionic"'s release (when I started to like Xtina more). So I never experienced that "Oh, this screams single!" feeling concerning Aguilera's album.

However, I like "Infatuation" very much but it is "less extra-ordinary" than the actual singles if you ask me. I like it's Latin vibe and it's somehow relaxing and smooth but it's a bit Teen-Latin-Pop with some over-the-top Flamengo break in between, no? - Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT but I think it wouldn't have worked as a single.

"Make Over", on the other hand, is too monotonous, and I'm sorry to say this, but I don't like "Cruz" at all

I completely agree about the other two songs and it is not stupid at all, "Dirrty" also means a lot to me because of my "party nights"

It's not my fault that so many "Stripped" singles are included in this Top10 singles countdown, I mean, the released songs are just great (in my opion) and it's her peak as an artist (tbh).

I can't wait to find out your favourite Xtina single as well! (I hope it will be part of my Top 10.. otherwise, that will be a #mess)

Ah, I just hope that since you love the "Stripped" album that much, that you'll still enjoy my Top 5 (I mean, almost all "Stripped" songs have fallen).
I also hate/love "Back To Basics"; it has some great tracks on it and I absolutely adore Christina's style and image back then (it suited her so well! so classy!) but that music is not my cup of tea.

I hope the two ballads which happen to be your favourite Xtina singles will be part of this countdown ;) - Let me know in the end (or when they appear) if I was able to make you happy

I had no clue she was your favourite artists of all time! That's amazing and even though, I still like her, I can understand why she kinda lost you. Anyway, I am glad you like the tracks so far and I am glad that you also admitted to be obsessed with her "moth look". I still think it looks so freakin' cool!
"Dull" as a description of "The Voice Within"... ouch But I am glad you love "Can't Hold Us Down" as well ;)
I still do love her older stuff a lot, it's just that she failed to deliver (in my opinion, ofcourse) after BTB. Moth look <33

Oh Mother is a stunning track, probably one of her most personal tracks and a brave decision to actually release it as a single. It has always been one of the higlights on BTB for me
And there we have Dirrty!! Her signature track and I can't believe it's celebrating it's 15th birthday this year Where has the time gone? I remember being obsessed by both the song and video as a 11-year-old boy and I still am. Her finest moment.
I think that you are right. Sadly, her music after "Back To Basics" lacks inspiration, depth and originality (there are a few exceptions, obviously) but I can totally understand why you are disappointed. I bought "Lotus" on its day of release and I think I've just listened to it 5th times ever since.

Agree! "Oh Mother" is a true pearl in her discography! Personal and so beautiful(ly arranged). It deserves more praise among her fans.

                                          Time flies indeed!

but thanks Mainshow, now I have it stuck in my head

Our radio station here loved to play Oh Mother when it came out and it is a beautiful song but I need to be in a certain mood to listen to it. It's a beautifully sad song.
Oh really? I think that the music video can still be considered as very sexual (and definitely too much) nowadays - Hehe, I am glad that you can't get that catchy tune out off your head "Dirrty" deserves all recognition it can get

"Oh Mother" is definitely beautifully sad indeed! - Oh, I have to be in a special mood to listen Christina in general

                                            #5: "You Lost Me" (2010)

I'm still pissed it flopped. Christina's image during her "Bionic era" might have been 'too much' but this track is so pure, honest and beautiful. Like previously mentioned, I enjoy Christina the most when she's pulling off these soft and fragile note. Give me a piano, some strings and I'm sold BUT this song is one of her best ones. Do you hear the eerie and haunting backing vocals starting from the second half of the song? - "Bionic" really deserves more praise. The uptempo tracks might be super tacky and generic but the ballads on this album were so freaking on point. "You Lost Me" is just the queen of a bunch of amazing ballads on this album ("Lift Me Up", "I Am", "All I Need")

                                              #4: "Not Myself Tonight" (2010)

Apart from the absolutely brilliant and beautiful ballads, "Not Myself Tonight" is the only other track I use taken from "Bionic" (and "Birds of Prey", of course). I know that this is a very unpopular choice because it's bascially the moment when Christina's (mainstream) career died and she got a huge of backlash from fans and critics alike but she clearly won me with this track. The beat, the rhythm, her voice, the melody and that super amazing middle 8 part with her moaning, breathing, the tribal vibe with the drums <3

We don't have to talk about the super tacky, camp, embarrassing music video, though.

You lost me was the only song I did not like on the Bionic album, really weak. But I like Not myself tonight and the video too
I am not trying to seduce you... Would you like me to seduce you? Is that what you're trying to tell me?

those Bionic tracks are sublime and masterful. I love them. Why this album flopped, nobody knows. I love seeing the Bionic love. Bionic is like her Glitter... it is loved only by the hardcore fans despite being a truly amazing album which should be loved by the GP as well.

"Oh Mother" is amazing! I adore it, it has always been one of my favorites.

"Dirrty" is a Xtina classic and an amazing track.

"You Lost Me" is THE song that made me lose interest in her.

I was obsessed with "Not Myself Tonight" back in 2010, it sounds very dated nowadays, though.

"Oh Mother" is so, so sad. I actually find it difficult to listen to at times because of the overwhelming emotion, but it is a quality song through and through.

I've viewed "Dirrty" as a better version of "I'm a Slave 4 U" for some time. It's certainly one of Christina's finest uptempo cuts.

"You Lost Me" punches me right in the feels. The way her vocals flutter on the 'Cause we-e-e-e had magic, and this-es-es is tragic is just gut-wrenching. This is easily among her best songs, and probably my top Bionic track.

I still think "Not Myself Tonight" is terrific. I love its adventurous lyrics, the sensuality of the moans, the hot (literally and figuratively!) music video. It's her most underrated gem.

You Lost Me is beautiful. Sia at her best when it comes to writing for others, it's visible she was actually inspired and trying back then as opposed to writing hits in 5 min while taking a dump

NMT is really lame and cringey with those lyrics and video, very unnecessary from her... but it's catchy
