  • Occupation: #1's

Mariah Carey's new song might not break sales records in any country in the world right now, but the song will most likely repeat at #1 this week on the Most Played Songs Chart. As of yesterday the song was in lead by such a huge gap that the nearest rival could still not see its back-lights. Will Triumphant rival Rudimental's 7 week's reign? It could be one step closer tomorrow.

Alanis Morissette, who was the best charting artist of 2004 on this chart, will return with a brand new album. The first ever year end topper is set for multiple top 10 entries this week. But can she surpass Whitney's record of 18 top 20 songs in a single week? Let's find out tomorrow.

Alanis Morissette returns. The Canadian suprema places 10 songs in this week's most played top 20 hitlist. Oddly, last week's #6 Lens is not among them. Alanis is clearly one of my biggest musical loves. She inspired me throughout her career with witty, angry, sad and honest melodies and lyrics. The two Triumphants by Mariah Carey stay stable at #1 with a very huge gap to #3. Both songs went more than 50% down when it comes to spins though. Robbie places 2 of his albums in this week's top 10 because news broke of his new album and single that will hit our ears soon.

          • Deserved spots for Alanis. I've always thought her angry side is much better than her soft side, which tends to be too cheesy sometimes (Guardian is a perfect example, IMO). HABL has many soft moments which aren't bad (Til You is my favourite), but the highlights are clearly Numb, Celebrity and Edge of Evolution.

And it's one of the very few songs (like Gaga's Judas or Nicki's Starships for example) where the verses are much better than the chorus IMO.

You should really buy the whole album if you haven't yet.

Mariah Carey gives a great fight to hold off Alanis from topping the singles chart this week. The Canadian falls 6 plays short of the #1 position.
