Christmas has been kind to Mariah Carey, as she sees her 1994 album reach 500 scrobbles this month. The best sellling holiday collection of all christmas albums ever recorded has therefore obtained a platinum certification from the MSSA. Time to look back at Mariah's albums certs:

Marco Mengoni has once again proven to be THE most dominant artist of 2015. Imagine you have released one of the most successful albums and singles in recent times. Then imagine to be unimaginably great and then imagine you're Imagine Dragons. IG return to the top 10 for a second year.

#4 - 3.008 scrobbles - Florence + The Machine

Ms Florence aka Lady of Rock, Dutchess of Alternative and Countess of Grace scored the 2nd highest ever recorded first week airplay with HBHBHB and is up for a total of 6 MSSA Merit in Music Awards. She is the fastest and biggest increasing AA artist on the MPSA/MSSA Chart (2004-).

Four-times YEC champion La Carey wasn't willing to comment on her 2015 YEC position, however, multiple people heard her mumble the sentence "[there are] too many penises", when she was told, she was coming in at #3. Another bronze award for the objectively biggest music legend that has ever lived.

Italy's ESC entry of 2013 made some small waves back in the day. It was then that Marco Mengoni made MPSA headlines. But never not ever could anybody have forseen him becoming the most dominating overall artist of 2015. Guerriero is the 3rd most played song of all times while 2 of his albums: Parole in Circolo and Le Cose Che Non Ho (both released in 2015) belong to the 10 most played albums ever released. Mengoni is up for four Merit in Music Awards.




#01 - 5.722 - Brandon Flowers

It was always going to be Brandon. Brandon Flowers is the most successful overall artist of 2015 and...had the biggest year of any past YEC winners - ever. I mean who was going to become bigger than TEOM-Mariah or Intensive Care-Robbie? Right? "That's impossible", people said. Now, Brandon is nominated for 8 Merit in Music Awards. He has released the biggest album of all times in MSSA (and MPSA) history. It is the only diamond certified album to date. He also owns the record for the #1 and #2 most successful songs in MPSA/MSSA history, both of which have been certified 3xp multi-platinum for streaming (the equvalent to a double diamond RIAA certified single ). He generated more revenue than any other artists in 2015: a concert ticket, 3 editions of TDE, a t-shirt and an autographed disc from Las Vegas. Nobody has ever reached a midweek projection of +1,000 scrobbles in a single week, only to amass 791 in total. Brandon Flowers has become the 3rd most successful overall recording artist in MPSA/MSSA history (2004-) with the least amount of material at that. He wasn't as dominant as Marco Mengoni in 2015, but his peak... was twice as big at the time. Speaking in tennis terms: If Mariah is Steffi Graf and Robbie is Roger Federer, then Brandon is Novak Djokovic+Serena Williams combined.


Here we see Brandon after he had learned of his 2015 YEC victory. "Stevyy is like the Book of Mormon - totally artificial, but I hold him in my arms every night", is what Brandon Flowers said in his acceptance speech.

MSSA #1 of 2016

Marco L'amore.

Marco Mengoni continues in 2016 where he stopped in 2015 - at the top. The Italian music legend sets the bar once again. Two months into the era, he becomes the first overall recording artist in MPSA/MSSA music history to place all album tracks inside the top 20 - not only that - all songs are ranked in the upper tier too, 7 even make the top 10 yet again. Coldplay couldn't have released their album in a worse time. Had they not released against Marco they would have debuted at #1 and stayed there all weeks since their debut.
