How far have we come. When I started my Personal Albums Chart in February 2004, I never believed that it could become such a staple among our Personal Charts. But it wasn't until October 2006 that I opened this thread and publish it every week. At first publishing day was thursdays. A few years ago - let's assume it was 5 years ago - I decided to shift it to fridays. In 2010 I expanded it and included a Top 10 Singles chart, a top 20 soon after. The Official Name of my Chart is "MPSA" which stands for Most Played Songs and Albums. I also have my own soundscan, which is my LastFm account. Ever since 2011 - when I joined there - I use my weekly playcounts to compile my chart (along with my winamp mp3 player on my computer and notebook). Ever since 2004 I also created several subcharts, which you might have encountered over time, like the annual artists of the year chart, the alltime list, the longest charting albums list, the longest #1 albums list and subsequently also the Certifications list.
So, now in 2013, in my chart's official 10th year and 8th year on UKmix, my chart was voted the 7th most popular one (although it is the second largest thread ever in this section of UKmix). I thank all of you who have contributed to the success of this thread. Without your comments, this thread would be - although tidy & clean - a hell of a lot less colourful and jolly.
Heres to the next 8(10) years!

MPSA: #38 of 2013
Back to A Legend
John Legend achieved the unachievable, at least for the majority of my music idols, he debuts two songs at #1 and #2, and he get's the album to open at #1 as well - in every sense of the word a hot shot debut. It is the most successful opening for Legend ever. One Again debuted at #5 while Get Lifted opened at #9. This is one abnormal chart trajectory, I mean who becomes more successful with subsequent releases? That is indeed very rare. Kings of Leon - although dethroned - continue to reign the albums chart with 4 discs charting. And their new album which was just released, will most likely debut next week to shocking and unheard-of numbers of airplay. But don't be too sure about this predicted groundbreaking success. There is another AA artist who has a new album out, Drake. Stay tuned for that. We also welcome back another high profiler from this chart's early stages: Jack Johnson who debuts at #4. His previous albums did all enter at #1. Next week will be incredibly full and busy: Kings of Leon, Drake, John Mayer and Drake are back and in it with new releases. Who will top and who will flop?

LastFm alert:
Never bevore have the top 10 alltime artists become the spotlight of changes as much as of this week. Justin Timberlake and John Mayer switch slots every other hour and fight it out for the #10 spot. They successfully kicked Whitney Houston out of the top 10 last week. And Maroon 5 already fell a little earlier due to The Kings of Leon overshadowing everyone at the moment.
The Big 4 stay unimpressed by what's happening at the second half of the top 10:
01 - 2.743 - Mariah Carey
02 - 1.732 - Robbie Williams
03 - 1.152 - Florence and the Machine
04 - 1.040 - The Killers
Will Coldplay become the 5th act to cross 1.000 plays or will Madonna rise from behind and snatch that wig. Her MDNA Tour album has not yet made an impact, but when it does, there is probably nothing stopping her:
05 - 968 - Coldplay
06 - 913 - Madonna
Unless of course, Kings of Leon continue shattering records after records. Their new album sits already at #1 on the midweek chart and seems to break the 300 plays mark in the first week.
07 - 842 - Nelly Furtado
08 - 839 - Glee Cast
Kings of Leon are on the verge to cross the 800 plays barrier and from what it looks like, Mayer and Timberlake will follow suit. In fact, all three of them declared war on Glee and Furtado!
9 - 784 - Kings of Leon
10 - 759 - Justin Timberlake
11 - 757 - John Mayer
12 - 704 - Whitney Houston
Other Milestones:
Celine Dion becomes a certified silver artist for reaching 250 plays and becond, while John Legend breaks into the triple digits:
34 - 281 - Celine Dion
58 - 116 - John Legend
Other Milestones ahead of us:
Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne will soon break into the triple digits as well. Roar and Dark Horse will make the deal for Katy, while Rock N Roll will amass enough spins to make it happen for the Canadian.
60 - 96 - Avril Lavigne
61 - 95 - Katy PerryMy Chart

MPSA: #39 of 2013
Stolen #1
It was supposed to be Kings of Leon's week of total domination. Unfortunately, another band which is a massive force on my chart, The Killers, returned with a new song which snatched the #1 position this week. The Killers lead the overall chart with a tiny advantage of just 4 spins in total. However, on the albums chart the picture is clear. Drake completely underperformed by debuting at #9. His previous two albums were monster successes. The #1 belongs to Mechanical Bull which amassed more than 225 plays in the first week. Madonna places another live set - her third so far - among the top 10 and both Johns are still going strong as well.
1.(new) The Killers - Shot at the Night
2.(new) Kings of Leon - Tonight
3.(new) Kings of Leon - Coming Back Again
4.(new) Kings of Leon - Comeback Story

It's Nelly's most iconic song.
Not only the song, also the video, her look, everything is just classy, clean, perfect.
I wish she would have evolved that style, musically and optically...
I really liked Mi Plan and The Spirit Indestructible.
But it's not on the same level as Loose. Also concerning style.
stevyy. Your #1. EPIC! I don't know if I like the song itself or the video more! I'll add it to my chart!

I can only agree, Loose made me a hardcore Nelly Furtado fan. From first listen of the album I said to my brother that say it right would become a huge - her biggest hit and so it did. I'm a hit detector. My Chart

Ah, really great to see "Say It Right" and "Human Nature". The latter's one of my favourite Madonna songs.
