Life is Live

Week 42 was a weird week. Despite being overshadowed and completely dominated by the Kings of Leon again, it was a week where many Live songs made some impact - again. I love a good live set and Madonna gets the crown this week. Her Confessions Tour album received more airplay than her newest live set MDNA Tour this week. It was also just this week when I found out about Late Orchestration and since this features some of my alltime fave Rap songs, this had to make an impact as well. Diamonds actually almost topped the singles chart.

The Facts:

1) Prism was off to a fantastic start this week. It became the fastest gaining album at the beginning of the week.
2) Only 2 songs can actually reach the #1 position this week - as competition was very weak. And no, among those is no song by the Kings of Leon.
3) The latest chart leader Mechanical Bull has amassed more across the board spins this week than last week at the same time.
4) Those were the total albums spins for the 2 leadings discs: 55 vs. 53! The gap is almost non-existant.

Prism Bull

Katy Perry used the final minutes of the tracking week nicely and kept Kanye from getting this week's #1. Spiritual is Perry's 3rd overall #1 single on my chart. Over on the albums chart Mechanical Bull proved to be an obstacle to complete the double. Mechanical Bull ended its 5th consecutive week at #1. Who can stop Kings of Leon? They once again have 3 albums in the top. If this trend continues they might end up as the year's biggest act, surpassing current leaders Justin Timberlake and Imagine Dragons. Next week, Wait For Me could break the 200 plays mark on LastFm and become the only 2nd non-Mariah song to achieve this, 7 weeks #1 runner Feel The Love is the other.

I checked out "Beautiful War" and "Spiritual" and both were good. I think "Spiritual" could be a grower for me. Great to see "Legendary Lovers" debut so high but I am pleasantly surprised to see 1D here. "Taken" is one of the best tracks from their first LP. I love it.

What a busy week this has become already. With Avril's new album, Katy making impact and of course Kings of Leon being up there, this should be interesting.
