Fantastic week!
Didn't expect Zayn to get a top debut... i don't know that song yet, but "Pillowtalk" was surprisingly good. I'll check it out!

Really glad to see Kelly's "Piece By Piece" getting such a great and well deserved entry with the Idol version. Thank god they released that version!
Also loving the entry for GaGa's "Til It Happens To You", which deserved to be a big hit for her.

Pop

Pop music may be dead, but this week it returned to life in acts such as Gwen Stefani who after a long absence from the chart (2005) re-emerges just outside the Top 10. Her new album is believed to have the power to debut in the top 10. The other side of the Atlantic continues to pose some serious threats for anyone without a British accent. Zayn now sits comfortably at #1 while Emeli Sandé shoots straight to #2 with her former #1 single Pluto. Germany's leading male, Bosse, however, stays at #1 on the albums chart - for a 4th consecutive week.

My Mind: Mind of Mine

Ex boygroup alumni Zayn Malik does the un-thinkable. He collects his first Triple this week with his new album "Mind of Mine" which debuts at #1 with one of the alltime biggest playcounts in history. MoM is now listed in the record books as the album with the 7th highest 7-day-scrobble count during the LastFM era. But he doesn't stop there. He also grabs his 3rd consecutive #1 single from the album, as his debut single (!) rises 14 spots to grab the ultimate crown. It's You and Befour had previously topped the chart. His pure domination left little room for his competition this week. Although, Birdy grabs the 2nd highest debut of the week. "Beautiful Lies" flew not only over Engtanz, no, it also amassed an astounding 160 scrobbles along the way. Birdy had only been played once before on the MPSA. "Wings" was the only single of her's which managed a healthy top 5 placement in 2013.

Wasn't the biggest fan of Zayn's solo debut on first listen, but it kept growing on me. I still prefer Nick Jonas' music though to be honest, as both of them make quite a similar type of music.

Love Birdy's debut. Felt a bit similar with her album, as i was disappointed on first listen but it grew on me the more i played it. Glad you like it too!

The Year To Date Chart of 2016 clearly shows that 2015 may be behind us, but is not forgotten yet. There are still 6 albums which were released in 2015 in this year's top 10 most played albums chart. The biggest album of 2016, however, is a current release by non other than German legend Bosse. Engtanz has now amassed over 1,800 plays and obtained a triple platinum certification. Zayn and Sia follow with some distance, while the late David Bowie comes in at #10. The three highest certified albums of all times complete the upper ranks of 2016, with Mengoni leading the titans at #2, followed by Brandon Flowers at #9 and Carey at #11.
