The Hits: Resurrected

Prince has kept his promise and slays the week after his death. The late KIng of Pop has dominated this week's airplay, pushing Beyoncé, M83 and Zayn to the ranks below him. His biggest release of the week is his Best Of set which jumps 16-10, followed by Purple Rain 15-7 and Sign O the Times which debuts at #8. Purple Rain re-enters the chart at #2, collecting more points for the currently running "Most Impacting Songs of All Times". Queen B is back too. Beyoncé debuts at #3 with her new albums Lemonade while getting another Top 10 single with Pray you catch me. Competition is on though. Drake has just dropped his new album #Views which shows early signs of domination.

He has amassed a staggering 256 plays which means that several of his classic albums return to the Top 30 albums chart this week. However, the albums and singles crowns remain in French hands, as M83 continue their amazing run at #1. Drake continues to show decreasing albums popularity. Britain "The Voice" winner Kevin Simm becomes the first former contestant of that show to debut at #1 on the MSSA singles chart. With this incredible achievement, he was able to prevent another Triple by M83 - who once again dominate Drake, Beyoncé. Springsteen, Zayn and comeback kid Michael Jackson. When the King unbuttons his shirt, then he is a surefire #1 contender. That's how hormones work. And when the song is half-decent then it's going to debut at #1. The winner of the 2015 and 2016 ESC is Swedish legend Mans Zelmerlöw because he grabbed the charts crown with his new single "Fire in the Rain" (his 2nd #1 song). Several of this year's contestants made the top 20 Singles Chart, but the most surprising entry certainly comes from 2015's alumnis Il Volo who debut at #5 on the albums charts, in front of 2016's Amir who managed to debut at #11.
