It could quite easily change as the week progresses. I just wondered about those 210 spins - is that for the whole album? As i make that out to equal you've played all 14 tracks 15 times each. If that's right, gosh! I've clearly got some catching up to do.

Amazing slayage from Niall Horan and thoroughly deserved. It's such a solid album and i really have ended up loving this album - i still have my personal highlights but overall it's an amazing album.

01.(NE) - Niall Horan - Bend The Rules (101 plays)

Very interesting to see this as your runaway favourite. As much as i like it, i personally thought other songs were stronger. Find out tomorrow to see where all these album tracks chart. One thing i will say though, Niall's vocals in the verses sound so unique and different - it almost doesn't sound like him. It's like the track On my own where i thought he sounded like Jon Bon Jovi.

03.(NE) - Niall Horan - Still (57 plays)

How gorgeous is this song? That whistling at the end. It's a very heartfelt ballad but as Niall proved on Flicker, he's quite the craftsman when it comes to acoustic ballads. I adore how the song keeps building, and the unexpected middle 8. Pure bliss...and those vocals in the chorus.

06.(NE) - Niall Horan - Dear Patience (32 plays)

This is a lovely song and i love the vocal melody. The chorus reminds me of Babylon by David Gray. I wonder if David Gray was one of the artists who influenced this sound, or maybe it was purely co-incidental.


07.(NE) - Niall Horan - Small Talk (32 plays)

If this isn't the next single... This follows on so perfectly from the confident sound of Nice to meet ya and really got me hooked.

08.(NE) - Niall Horan - Black and White (31 plays)

Apparently this is Niall's favourite song on the album. As much as i enjoy this, i do think a couple of the other album tracks surpass this imo. It's very reminiscent of Marry you by Bruno Mars and perhaps moreso Ed Sheeran's Castle on the hill.

09.(NE) - Niall Horan - Heartbreak Weather (31 plays)

I love this, and the outtake music video is amazing. It's so amazing seeing Niall really enjoying himself and showing this loveable yet cheeky side to him. How can anyone not love Niall? <3

11.(NE) - Niall Horan - Arms of a Stranger (29 plays)

The way this song starts, i was expecting a heartfelt ballad. Then it builds and transforms into a big pop/rock track by the first chorus which i love so much.

12.(NE) - Niall Horan - Everywhere (28 plays)

This is very similar to Black and white with its upbeat progressive beat in the chorus. I actually can't really separate these two songs, i actually love them about the same.

13.(NE) - Niall Horan - Cross Your Mind (27 plays)

This is such a breezy song. It's the sound of the summer and sunshine although i don't really think it's worthy of official single status. Nonetheless, i still enjoy this song so much.

14.(NE) - Niall Horan - New Angel (26 plays)

Niall's vocals in the first verse are so sexual. I find the chorus isn't quite as instant as on other tracks but it's still a great song.

17.(NE) - Niall Horan - San Francisco (26 plays)

This is yet another pleasant song but in all honesty, i'm not surprised that it's ranked lowest. One thing i will say is my list of favourites definitely differs from yours but i'm radio friendly so the poppier songs appeal to me more.

Overall though Niall seriously impressed me with this album. His vocals on some of the tracks are extraordinary and i never knew he had it in him. I'm just so delighted that Niall is showcasing what he's really capable of. Such a shame its release coincided with this dreadful coronavirus pandemic because i'm sure Niall would've sold even more copies this week.

I have seriously no idea why Bend The Rules clicked with me the most. Usually, I let a new album (by someone I like very much) run through on a loop ... in the background while I'm doing other stuff and then often times it hits me suddenly... a song is catching my attention... and I begin to really listen and take the melody in... and that is what happened with Bend The Rules. I was actually taking a nap last Friday when the album came out and I was really listening to the songs while I was slowly falling asleep and BTR really did catch me by surprise and got me super hyped to listen to it on repeat extensively.

I am so proud of Niall, especially. Because while in 1D I kinda overlooked him a lot... I was a Liam Fan Boy... But oh BOY did Liam disappoint with his music. The first former member, Zayn, had an amazing debut album, and then Harry really did an amazing album too and then Niall did a fantastic album and then Harry had a great 2nd album... and then Louis had a fantastic debut album and now NIall is back at it again. I feel so bad for Liam tbh.

The former One Direction Boys have had a tremendous run of platinum albums on the MSSA charts. Zayn was the first of the 5 guys to try it solo. His debut album was released in 2016 and also became the biggest album of any of the boys so far. Mind of Mine has surpassed 3,000 plays and is therefore certified 6 times multi-platinum and still one of the biggest albums in MSSA history. Next in line was Harry Styles who has since released a second album in 2019. Both of his releases have reached Platinum status. Niall Horan was the original third. He saw instant success as well. His 2017 set, Flicker, has surpassed 2,000 plays and is therefore certified 4 times multi-platinum. Zayn continued to have outstanding success with his 2nd album from 2018. Icarus Falls was not as successful internationally, however, it did well enough to receive a double platinum reward from the MSSA. In 2020 Louis Tomlinson came straight out of left field and stormed the charts. His debut album debuted at #1, was the hot shot debut of the first quarter of 2020 and has just surpassed 500 scrobbles, which means platinum level. All eyes are now on Niall Horan. His new album has seen the 18th strongest single-week-performance since 2011. The album reached platinum level in week 1 and is already set to replicate its position at #1 for a second week. The only member missing in the platinum club is Liam Payne who released his debut album in 2019. The album has since stalled at below 400 plays. Liam's album is currently certified Gold. Whether he will be able to join his former brothers is up to fortune tellers or time.

Aww no problem. I do like to post comments about my favourite songs and since we have a shared love for Niall, it had to be done.

I'm still not as enthused with Louis as you are. There's just something about his personality i find off putting (yes, i think he's arrogant and not exactly an amazing singer). So i've never checked out Walls so interesting to see how much he dominated in your chart when his album was released.

Liam is indeed the anticlimax which is madness because he was the one guy in One Direction who i thought was a really good singer. I wasn't really keen on One Direction but liked some of their songs. Sadly for Liam, his lack of personality is highlighted in his run of singles - the vast majority relying on a featured artist. If only Liam had just done an album of heartfelt ballads and a couple of midtempo bops, he might've kept many of old fans happy. By going all wannabe american, he lost a lot of people with his musical output imo.

MSSA #13 of 2020

Still...

at #1! Niall Horan repeats his stint at #1 for a second consecutive week. The Irish weather man whose heartbreak did not cloud the sky scores another big week for the history books. Not only did he replace himself with a 3rd #1 single off his new album, he also amassed the 31st largest 1-week total in MSSA history. Consequently, he advances to number 25 on the alltime most played artists ranking with over 4,000 scrobbles to his name now. Another MSSA powerhouse, The Weeknd, returns with a brand new album. "After Hours" debuts at #2 with 187 plays over the past week which makes the album the already sixth biggest of 2020 - so far.



"Still" becomes Niall's third #1 single off "Heartbreak Weather", following "Nice to Meet Ya" (2019) and "Bend The Rules (2020)".

The midweek reports suggests a massive 3rd week for Niall Horan on the MSSA Chart. His set is projected to pull another 200+ streams this week. German electro-pop group Mia. are also back and could end up as this week's Hot Shot Debut. Pearl Jam might see their highest debut ever on the MSSA chart with Gigaton. The album could infact hit 100 streams when all is said and done. Dua Lipa has returned with her sophomore album. Heartbreak Climate Change

Niall Horan continues to demolish his competition for a third consecutive week. Heartbreak Weather still has double the amount of airplay than this week's #2 which comes from Childish Gambino. The American all around genius surprised us all with his his massive rise from #17 last week to #2 this week. Donald Glover also scored this week's hot shot debut on the singles charts. Queen of R&B, Alicia Keys, returns to the MSSA-Charts with another top 5 smash hit single, "Underdog". Dua Lipa grabs the Hot Shot Debut on the albums charts this week. "Future Nostalgia" bows in at #4 with 99 plays. Dua hasn't been able to score a hit single off her new album yet, but that might change next week. So watch out, Niall.
