Walking on the Triple

Walking on Cars don't seem to let up. The Domination continues. However, the gap between the Irish newcomers and their competition shrinks. Can they occupy the Triple for a 4th week? German icon Laith Al-Deen returned with his new album "Bleib Unterwegs" which debuts at #4 on the albums chart with 74 scrobbles. His previous album "Was wenn alles gut geht" from 2015 has amassed 170 scrobbles so far. The biggest surprise is the still ongoing Boyband craze, with yet again a new high profile debut - but this week it comes from no other band, but Nsync. Boyzone and Hanson can also be found in the mix.

MPSA/MSSA Hall of Fame



Imagine all the people living life in peace

John Winston Lennon receives an honorary induction into the MPSA/MSSA Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in music and for his philantrophic work as one of the world's most endearing fighters for peace. John Lennon has proven to be the world's most creative and most important recording artist in the modern era. As part of the legendary Beatles, he shaped the world of pop and rock music. As a solo recording artist he created unforgettable musical moments that are known all over the world. 36 years after his assassination, the king's wise philosophy of peace and brotherhood and sisterhood resonates within the canon of cultural human history and is still as true as it was 30-40 years ago. He taught us to stand up, to fight for what is right and served as the human kind's number one role model in the 1970's. His impact cannot be accurately rated. His hit song "Imagine" is single-handedly the most import musical output since the turn of the 20th century as it creates a perfect world without wars focusing on the unification of the world. Throughout the 1970's he's released genre defining and genre changing music which speaks to the inner core of our souls and hearts. A trail-blazer he was. An icon and an unmatched legend during his lifetime. John taught us how to love and how the road to fullfillment starts by acceptance. With his induction into the Hall of Fame, he is also awarded the MPSA Lifetime Achievement Award to emphasize his status as the most talented and greatest music artist and songwriter in history. He could get away with anything. When I first discovered him, I was fascinated by his artistic integrity and above all his timeless yet experimental sound of music. The closer I got to the person he was, the more I lost myself in him. A working class hero - maybe - my personal hero for sure. If God is a concept by which we measure our pain, I measure mine by the anger I feel over his untimely death. I believe in you, John - now, always and forever.

Mind Games

The legendary HoF inductee John Lennon dominates his week of remembrance and grabs the #1 position on the most scrobbled artists mark. The Lifetime Achievement Award holder came out of nowhere. His entire discography was on blast this week, with several of his legendary albums making the Official Top 30 Albums Chart while others just missed the threshold. Other legendary acts which return to the charts are: The Who, The Beatles and of course The Smitjs. Walking on Cars, however, remain unbeatable on the singles and albums chart. Victorious At Last

Mega legend and newly Hall of Fame inductee - as well as Special Lifetime Achievement Award recipient - John Lennon makes the impossible possible. He dominated this week's chart in an almost unheard-of fashion, scoring the 5th highest ever recorded srobbles total by any artist. Almost his entire studio albums discography entered the albums chart. He even debuts atop the singles chart with a mid-80's era classic which was posthumely released in 1984, called "I'm Stepping Out" from the "Milk and Honey" album. Not far behind, his former band The Beatles bow in at #2 with a staggering 492 scrobbles and a plathora of albums debuting. The week of total destruction pushed Lennon inside the top 50 list of the most scrobbled artists of all times during the LastFM era.

Biggest 1-Week Airplay ever?

The Beatles are currently challenging one of the hardest records ever. They have currently registered 721 scrobbles in this very week, which still has 3 days to add. The alltime record was established last year (2015) by Brandon Flowers who bowed in with 791 scrobbles in week 21 of 2015. The album which enabled him to do so was "The Desired Effect" which became the biggest album in MSSA history, registering enough plays to be certified 12 times multi-platinum (over 6,000 scrobbles). The Beatles have not one album, but a dozen to chart this week yet again. Their closest rival for this week is Beatles member John Lennon who at this very minute registered 465 scrobbles in his own right. Beatlemania

Beatlemania has travelled time and arrived at the present in true fashion. 46 years after the band's breakup, The Fabulous Four shattered one of the alltime records. With an astounding 806 plays in this week, they established a new alltime record, surpassing Brandon Flowers' previous record which he held with 791 scrobbles. Subsequently, The Beatles collect their first album certification. Rubber Soul has surpassed 250 scrobbles and is therefore awarded Gold. Furthermore, The Beatles have surpassed John Lennon's solo career and are now confirmed to be the 30th overall most played music act during the LastFM era which started in 2011. Lennon shouldn't cry, he rises to no. 31st in his own right - far ahead of any of the other Beatles members. A big surprise certainly comes from Olly Murs. The Brit grabbed the biggest song debut and came in at #1.

Frank Ocean is finally back. His long awaited new studio album debuts at #1 this week - with several of the songs making the singles chart as well. Britney could not stabilize Glory as competition over the week. Glory, however, bows in at #3. Rubber Soul remains high up the chart, at #2. The Beatles once again grab the Artists crown.
