It took quite some while, but the Eurovision Song Contest returned in Rotterdam in 2021.
What are the early indications?

1) The soundtrack album is currently sitting at #5 on the midweek chart. As the greatest gainer since last night's final aired on TV, the album is seeing phenomenal increases.

2) However, much like the televoting results, there are countries which (so far) have not seen any substantial exposure.

3) The biggest ESC alumni from last night seems to be coming from a person who did not actually participate in the grand final.

4) The biggest finalist song (so far) has been a song from absolute left field. The question is whether it can sustain its early numbers.

5) Can Germany, The United Kingdom, Spain and The Netherlands eradicate their 0 points embarrassments and somehow make it onto the MSSA singles charts? That's still a mystery.

It's official now. Eurovision has exploded. The soundtrack is now actively threatening Cro's 3-week-out-of-competition- domination by a power grab. Forcefully pacing ahead, the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest has doubled its total from the previous update and is now positioned for a full on attack. The #1 and #2 albums of the week are only separated by a mere 70 scrobbles. The ESC soundtrack is heading for a 300 scrobbles debut.

Mans Zelmerlöw is the 3rd biggest former ESC Finalist ever.

It was a close week, but in the end Cro proved to be too big to fail. The German poet defends his #1 position on the albums chart against a very strong and even more so impressive Eurovision Song Contest soundtrack which was able, however, to spawn this week's #1 single - which couldn't be furthest away from the actual winner of the show.

Last saturday, Azerbaijan did not hear a lot of douze points! Fortunately for Samira Efendi who represented her country of Azerbaijan at the contest, it stroke a nerve regardless. The electric bridge of ethno-dance-pop was even able to fend off another ESC alumni, Mans Zelmerlöw.

The undisputed greatest artist who's ever come from the country of Sweden, debuts straight at #2 on the singles chart with his smash hit Faker. Ever since his victory in the contest in 2015, the Swede has been a staple on the MSSA chart. He currently ranks as the 31st most streamed overall artist of the LastFM era. Among former ESC finalists, he even ranks third after Céline Dion and Marco Mengoni.

Only two ESC songs made the top 20 this week. Apart from Azerbaijan's entry, Portugal also debuts strongly at #4.
