MSSA #38 (September 16th - September 22th)

From Honey to Liebe to Zorn to XXV

This week saw three of the biggest acts of the MSSA era battle it out for charts supremacy. Shockingly and surprisingly the veterans with the names of Robbie Williams and Mariah Carey had to step aside and let a tiny German-language band from Baden-Württemberg bathe in the warm spotlight of the #1 position.

Provinz are not a new act per se. They debuted in 2020 and saw their first album fly high up on the charts, eventually gaining double platinum status. On the back of that, their popularity grew so immensely that their new set of songs was able to push ahead and relegate two legendary veterans to the backseats. Carey, however, was able to get herself another goody in the back: This week she re-claims the #1 position on the singles chart, her surely (and we have all lost count) twenty-something achievement of this kind.

What a week, what incredible achievements all around.

Marco Mengoni, the 3rd most played artist of all times (a true Titan of the MSSA charts), has returned with the 2nd part of his 2021 album, Materia. Pelle seems to be destroying all competition for the week. Mengoni has been dominating the MSSA charts since 2015, even surpassing Carey (#1) and Williams (#2) whenever they would clash. The only question is: How far can he go in terms of his debut?

Marco Mengoni did it again. The Italian music legend who rose to international fame representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, has topped the MSSA albums charts with an astonishing 463 streams. He truly produced another excellent album which leaves nothing desired. Everything from uptempo pop songs to introvert ballads, Marco knows how to connect with people. He is now positioned to become the only 3rd overall artist (and 2nd male artist) to surpass 20,000 career-streams.
