there have been a couple of German-language chart toppers in my chart over the years, mostly the punk/alternative bands (Van Holzen).
In my (yet unfinished) retro charts, by the way, Bosse was a chart topper with ''3 Millionen'' as well as the big names like Wolfsheim, Wir Sind Helden, Silbermond, Fertig, Los!, Fotos, to name a few. Clueso's highest entry so far remains ''Neuanfang'' in 2016 (peaked at #3).
I have no problem with the German language in indie/pop music, in fact Leoniden may chart soon as well.

amazing to read that, heppolo. "3 Millionen" by Bosse is such a great song, from its composition to its lyrics, it is sublime.

I cannot wait to see Leoniden in your chart. I've just discovered them and I find it fascinating that a band which makes such great music, comes from my city. I've never experienced that in my life before.

From your list, I can say that I own CDs by Wir sind Helden, Silbermond as well. Many people dislike Silbermond bc of how schmaltzy their music gets sometimes. But I love them.

BTW Germany's biggest artist ever, Herbert Grönemeyer, has just released a new album.

After Day 1 (November 16) Caution had registered 161 streams and is projected to debut with upwards of 1,100 scrobbles.
