I love the fact that 'DSMD' keeps re-entering / climbing up your chart!

I wonder if Pete( Spartan) likes it, a couple of ABBA songs were very high on his all-time chart.

I haven't actually heard it yet, I will correct my behaviour tomorrow and give it a listen.

It's in/out a lot, but that's just due to my random listening habits.

                        • I've been somewhat underwhelmed by Star-Crossed overall (it feels a bit bloated with short, same-y slow songs, and her signature wit/wordplay is lacking in some areas), but "What Doesn't Kill Me" is SUCH a standout! When I first saw the title in the tracklist, I was sure the song would go in the usual "what doesn't kill me...makes me stronger" direction, so I ADORE the "...better run" subversion! It also boasts some of the most infectious hooks on the album: "you're gonna feel me, you're gonna feel meEeEe...". The "golden hour faded black" line you highlighted in your thread title the other day is quite clever too.
                        • Last time I posted, I assumed the month of August would help "August" close in on (or even surpass) your all-time-days-at-No. 1 record...and then it spent just one more day on top the entire rest of the month #spoketoosoon
                        • Back to Kacey: "There Is A Light" grabbed my ear as well, and I wish the album had more unexpected stylistic/genre-blending moments like this. "Breadwinner" is another catchy early fave of mine, but no sign of it here (yet).
                        • Although it's fallen off again, I owe your chart for re-kindling my interest in "Cold Heart" lately. At first I was just like "Oh, so it's Elton...covering Elton", but PNAU's mixing and Dua's vocals really do breathe new life into those classics.
                        Yet another killer chart, Akini!

Yeah, I was initially underwhelmed also. "Star-Crossed" and "Justified" were such fantastic forerunners and I was excited to listen to the album and be absolutely demolished (given the ending of my most recent entanglement, I was fully ready to engage Kacey for chief therapist duties). The album's magic is subtle, though, so I would definitely encourage you to sit with it. It seems that every day a new track connects with me - today, for instance, it was "Hookup Scene".

HOWEVER, "What Doesn't Kill Me" - that plot twist in the lyric is everything. Instant standout. Best song on the album. Among the finest of her career. I cannot wait to see her perform it live in February!

I thought so, too, but my listening habits can be tough to predict. For me, "August" is still the greatest song ever - I even discussed it with a co-worker recently, who likened the song's addictiveness to crack - but I guess my ears had other plans. Jury's still out on if "August" gets there at some point, though a song not far behind it on total days at #1 will be returning to the top today!

Yeah, I liked the optimism within "There is a Light". "Breadwinner" isn't bad; the lyrics just haven't hit me yet.

I think, had Elton done "Cold Heart" himself, it wouldn't have worked, but the addition of Dua sells the song so convincingly! There's a husk she always manages to bring to songs that's such a perfect fit for the lyrics.

                            • Mildly surprised that Star-Crossed isn't involved in this Kacey domination. It's a song that has really started to grow on me from her album. I also like What Doesn't Kill Me and There is a Light.

I thought this would be a chart without a former #1 on it, but right there at the bottom is Dua

Since "Star-Crossed" came out first, I guess I've already spent a good bit of time with it and now I want to spend time with the newer tracks. Glad to hear you like those latter two tracks, too. I'm low-key obsessed with "What Doesn't Kill Me".

You commented so swiftly, I was like, what Dua song?
