Your impact! (Ditto for that "F2F" rebound).

Ha, yeah, I'm definitely a full-on Pale Waves disciple now Bless you for opening your ears (and heart) to their gospel!

    Thanks again, Akini!

        • *insert joke about Pale Waves and wave here* wow now that's some domination from them! So far the one that has left the strongest impression on me after Clean is Unwanted

Glad to see Elio's year-end chart impact here, Superimpose is still a banger. And seeing Ethel jump up a few places even with all the new entries is amazing (I realise it's the year-end impact too lol, but still)...reminds me that I still haven't decided who's going to be my 2022 #1

Ha, yeah, those are basically the 3-4 albums I'm rotating through right now (it also helps that "Kill Bill" is currently slaying several official charts, which keeps it on my mind even more).

Many thanks for showing dear ELIO some love! I was a bit shocked at the YouTube numbers for her official/proper videos even after entering Charli's orbit and getting her seal of approval ("9 Lives" doesn't even have 9k views).

            Thanks again, heppolo!

Ha, Dad(dy) jokes are always welcome here! "Clean" and "Unwanted" were definitely smart single selections.

I didn't realize you're still finalizing the rankings as you post them! Does this mean it's not too late to bribe "American Teenager," "Hurricanes," and "Hold The Girl" into your Year-End Top 5...?

Sorry about m els She did get several spins, but this past week turned out to be extra-competitive with my ongoing Pale Waves fixation, SZA, Blondini's Ella Vos recs, new Rebecca Black, new Miley (and more).

Definitely! It makes her solidly 3-for-3 for me (and now we know Let Her Burn is due Feb 9th. So close, and yet so far...)

Prayed through the nights, Felt so alone, Suffered from alienation, Carried the weight on my own, Had to be strong, So I believed, And now I know I've succeeded in finding the place I conceived, I had a vision of love...

Oh no haha, it's just #1 and #2 that I really can't decide. Although I feel like I've made a final decision now (this sentence is an oxymoron isn't it lmao). As for the bribe offer, well for one of these three I even still accept offers for the top spot

Strong by Romy & Fred isn't usually my genre but it's quite impactful imo, and the lyrics really speak to me!

I had hoped six spins would've been enough for a top 10 debut for "Flowers", but I guess not. Would six spins usually be enough or was last week more competitive than usual?

Our Ava overlap should resume on this Friday's chart (since I've gotten more into "One Of Us" this week, and "Dancing's Done" is back on my mind more as D&D hype reaches its climax).

If your No. 1 is between Ethel and Sam, no bribe should be needed (unless Sam's been DMing you nudes, in which case I don't think there's anything Ethel or I could do to compete with that).

Hope you haven't had to "carry so much on your own..." It's definitely one of the tranciest songs to chart that high here in a while.

Yeah, I would've much rather seen "Midnight Sky" enjoy this level of international success, but it's still a fascinating comeback to watch unfold (a bit like Meghan Trainor and "Made You Look," on an even bigger scale).

Great question, and you're right about last week having an extra-competitive play count threshold! Usually 5 plays guarantees a song a spot inside the Top 30, but last week even 6 wasn't necessarily enough to make the cut:
                                    Spoiler!

Hype! I didn't have any songs with OIivia as the lead in my library, but discovering that one on FreakyFlyBry's chart prompted me to add her latest 3-track EP/single.

My hype for her album is sky-high now I knew there was something charmingly-80's about "Sick To My Stomach," but I couldn't put my finger on the Janet similarities/influence until you mentioned it. Ella owes all her entries to you too!

                                          Thanks again, Blondini!

                                            • Wait a sec. "Friday" Rebecca Black is a lesbian? I'm here for it! "Sick to My Stomach" is such a smooth, mature ballad. I like that it has that snappy backing beat to lift it.

That's quite the tumble for "Flowers", but small yay that it even lasted a second week.

It occurs to me that Jude does this too, changes who she is depending on who she’s with. They’re like toads changing their skin colour. How come I’m always just me?

"Girlfriend" took embarrassingly-long to click with me, but I finally get its appeal now (and the video's a lot of low-budget fun). "Gimme All Ur Love" is quite different, but I like it too.

                                                Thanks again, heppolo!

Wikipedia quotes her as "queer," so there might be some jams aimed at gents on her album too. Really glad that "Sick To My Stomach" made a good first impression! I knew she'd been putting out music over the past several years, but I hadn't paid much attention to any of it until these three most recent singles that all hit. the. spot.

Ha, yeah, "Flowers" definitely won't be an instance where our 2023 YEC's align (though Miley clearly doesn't need my support this time anyway).
