I have to say, your Prince countdown is the most incredible read! If I wasn't a fan before, I certainly am now. The presentation is immaculate, and the write ups are so comprehensive and interesting.

I own Prince's hits collection [with the white cover, and purple font/diagram], but that's it - I know about 20 of his singles, but few album tracks. He's elusive. However, I will DEFINITELY be checking him out!!

I'm much more familiar with Madonna, so will comment on her songs

Thanks wayne for your words. Yeah the collection you own is the best after "The Hits/The B-Sides" (which are extremely cheap right now) because of the extended versions on the second disc. I am happy you like Prince

"Lucky Star" : Pure freshness, as the whole "First album", her simpliest one under many aspects but one of her most compact efforts....it resumed perfectly the essnce of her legend at the very beginning....far better the its following up "Like A Virgin"!!

"Like A Flower" the Madonna I love the most and who totally missed in her last effort.... :-?

"Inside Of Me" :Love the lyrics simple in a way but beautiful and spontaneous ...

....in the public eye I act like I don't care, when there's no one watching me, I'm crying.....

Justify My Love : who ever think Gaga causing controversy (where? when? why? lol), do not have a clue of some controversial moments Madge caused back in the day: Justify My Love was one of that :like no one else she shocked and divided people: hate or love, in a world of pop, where the mainstream popstar used to play safe , Madonna couldn't care less of doing the contrary giving for the very first time (for a female popstar of her caliber) to the American puritan souls the shake! Her moments will never be matched due to the time; look nowadays at Gaga how hard try to shock people, while people reaction is for the most part a laugh or does not go over the kind of:..."what the hell of dresse is that

BTW : Love the W.Orbit remix, it made a wonderfull job!

"Pretender" is enjoyable track, but nothing more, too high , IMO!

"Secret Garden" : Love the lirycs, the first step into the maturity of sounds and lirycs we had found in her followed efforts after "Erotica".

"Love Tried To Welcome Me" : my fave from BS at the moment!!!

"Bordeline" : a classic to me of the same level as "Holiday" or any early hits....!!
Funny that most of the remix of her early work it was not other that a long version of the song: they didn't put much of effort in it !I Still see those remix as classic in a way!!!!!

"Sky Fits Heaven"; Amazing gem, my fave off "Ray Of Light", love its hypnotic atmosphere!!

"Animal" : Ok it's a good track, but is too high , IMO, undeservedly above many clssics, I guess this happened because it's a relatevily new song and didn't suffered the so famous overplayed factor most of her hits has been through over these long years....

Well yes it is a new song and it does sound great played really loud, although Madonna's delivery leaves a lot to be desired (like in all of "Hard Candy"). I guess if I was doing this next year, it would probably be far lower but I guess still within the Top 100. I really can't understand why she didn't include this in "Celebration" instead of the horrid "Revolver" (then again I did like "Revolver" in the beginning too lol).

It was common in the '80s for remixes being just extended versions of the song and I really think they should return back to that at least for one remix in singles. What's the point of getting 5-6 bland house remixes everytime which all sound the same anyway? Even in the rare cases when one of those remixes is actually good (as in "Bedtime Story" or "Beautiful Stranger") we still get loads of rubbish. Put a house remix less and one extended remix 80s style

Are you charting Mer Girl or Sky Fits Heaven? Both are brilliant.

Gah, rules!

Love Boderline, its the only song I am completely familiar with so far [besides that Like A Prayer live song obviously]. Borderline is typical of Madonna's 80's work, fluffy but extremely enjoyable! Its probably one of her best 80's classics, along with Express Yourself.

I think there is much more nudity in the video of "Vogue" (which was played by MTV 24/7 morning, noon, afternoon and evening 21 years ago i.e. in a much more conservative time than today) than on any of the pics I have posted. Still, if you think that the people on this site have never seen artistic pictures which include some slight nudity and they will be offended by it then feel free to change it AFTER asking me and letting me decide which pictures take the place of the ones you rather randomly removed. I made an effort to include nice pictures and not repeating the same ones so you could have done better than posting that ugly picture three times

P.S. My next countdown will be my 100 favourite porn movies of all-time (don't worry I'll make sure not to post any pictures) lol
