Yeah, that might be it but i haven't had Java for years - it's generally not needed (or is that Flash?) . Tried changing browser, disabling ad-blocker. Nothing works. It would make sense if it did on random videos but it only does it on those two! My crappy laptop is the reason, i think. Doesn't have the capacity of my last one. Some pages with lots of media on - like Twitter - stall all the time. I solve that by killing the page then refreshing. But doesn't work on this issue.

The Stand Atlantic thing is poppy enough to be Against The Current so i contest your point strongly. It's also like Paramore and far better than that ponderous Hayley solo stuff.

      • Nice to see Paul & Jacqui in another chart! Had a listen to a few of your new entries and I really like that Polly Scattergood song. Also Blanche & I Break Horses are good too. I quite like the Jake Shears track which is not dissimilar to his SS work.

            SPOTIFY
2 NE The Angelic Process - Coma Waering SPOTIFY

This pioneering ambient drone metal shoegaze act from the noughties turned up on Amazon's new release list with a vinyl edition of WSWS. I investigated. Sadly the founding member took his own life in 2008 after a severe hand injury.

            4 2 Cerrone - DNA (2 weeks; peak #2)

            13 5 Selena Gomez - Rare (6 weeks; peak #3)
14 NE Hayseed Dixie - Blast From The Grassed SPOTIFY
More crazy bluegrass covers - my picks are Shout and You Need To Calm Down.

15 NE Nel Unlit - Wake For The Dreaming SPOTIFY
Stockton indie-folk collective inspired by Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.

...And one of the acts on the above with their own set of art-pop from 2018.

            17 8 Client Liaison - Diplomatic Immunity (3 weeks; peak #6)
            18 3 Seth Lakeman - A Pilgrim's Tale (2 weeks; peak #3)
19 NE Tame Impala - The Slow Rush SPOTIFY
It's not bad but there's nothing that jumps out like songs in the past have done.

            20 7 Daniel Lopatin - Uncut Gems (OST) (4 weeks; peak #2)

            24 NE Arca - @@@@@

This "single" is over an hour long and resembles a mixtape. Debuted as a video midweek prior to general release.

25 NE Not My God - Not My God SPOTIFY
            Industrial duo featuring Tim Skold.

            • TONY'S HITS CHART: 29th FEBRUARY 2020

              1 4 Cam - Till There's Nothing Left (3 weeks; PEAK)

First number one for the country singer! Billboard hasn't included her in any of their country charts, strangely. First OCC overlooks her, now this. I can't believe she sold/streamed nothing based on her past results.

2 2 The Birthday Massacre - The Sky Will Turn (6 weeks; peak #1)
              3 1 The Psychedelic Furs - Don't Believe (4 weeks; peak #1)
4 6 Taylor Swift - The Man (4 weeks; PEAK)

              Official video is out.

              5 3 Selena Gomez - Rare (7 weeks; peak #1)
              6 5 Marina - About Love (4 weeks; peak #3)
7 NE Jessie Ware - Spotlight

It's slinky and great to have another video at last.

8 NE LPX - New Mood

New pop stormer from Lizzy Plapinger. Video contains flashing light imagery.

              9 7 Ren Harvieu - Yes Please (7 weeks; peak #2)
10 NE Lady Gaga - Stupid Love

              The pop Gaga is back.

              11 9 Lizzy Farrall - Addict (6 weeks; peak #4)
              12 8 Polly Scattergood - Red (3 weeks; peak #8)
              13 11 Echosmith - Stuck (4 weeks; peak #11)

              22 NE SDH - Suffer

A more pleasant pop sound on this second hit by the duo.

              23 22 Selena Gomez - Feel Me (2 weeks; peak #22)

              24 21 Purity Ring - Stardew (2 weeks; peak #21)
25 38 The Pink Slips - Miles Away (2 weeks; PEAK)

              Biggest jumper!

              26 16 Girl In Red - Bad Idea! (4 weeks; peak #16)
27 NE Best Coast - Everything Has Changed

Belated entry for lead single proper - actually the worst track on the album. Sounds like a record label song, everything else sounds urgent and vital.

              28 18 Cerrone - The Impact (3 weeks; peak #18)
              29 19 Dagny - Come Over (4 weeks; peak #9)

              34 26 Blancmange - Mindset (2 weeks; peak #26)
35 39 Wendy James - Perilous Beauty (2 weeks; PEAK)
              36 28 Stand Atlantic - Shh! (3 weeks; peak #28)
              37 33 Sparks - Self-Effacing (2 weeks; peak #33)
38 29 Anavae - Never Want To Love Again (3 weeks; peak #23)
39 NE Mitch Murder - Artifact

              Synth guy strikes again.

              40 34 Client Liaison - Champagne Affection (4 weeks; peak #28)
41 RE Coldplay - Champion Of The World (4 weeks; peak #29)

              42 36 Echosmith - Scared To Be Alone (2 weeks; peak #36)
              43 27 Jessie Paege - Skeleton (7 weeks; peak #5)
              44 31 I Break Horses - I'll Be The Death Of You (3 weeks; peak #21)
45 NE Leonard Cohen - Thanks For The Dance

Another promo from Nowness, featuring Rowan Blanchard and Lily Cole.

              46 32 Sophie Meiers - X-Ray Vision (4 weeks; peak #24)
              47 35 Jake Shears - Meltdown (3 weeks; peak #32)

              49 41 Blanche - Empire (3 weeks; peak #24)
I will say at this point that i am not charting James Newman's UK ESC entry. It might have been OK if it wasn't for the silly way they pause and say "...breath". Takes all the seriousness out of it. Meanwhile Belgium's Blanche hangs on with her 5th Hit.

50 RE Allie X and Troye Sivan - Love Me Wrong (10 weeks; peak #3)

              -------------------------------------------

              TONY'S ALBUMS CHART: 29th FEBRUARY 2020

1 NE Best Coast - Always Tomorrow
              SPOTIFY
              A stormer of a set.

2 NE Allie X - Cape God SPOTIFY

She changed style(s) by throwing back further to the seventies. YouTube stream with lyrics posted.

3 NE Humanist - Humanist SPOTIFY
Teesside's Rob Marshall rounds up Lanegan, Gahan, Ride's Mark Gardener, Jim Jones and more on a Desert Sessions meets UNKLE kind of set.

4 NE Sam Sparro - Boombox Eternal SPOTIFY
Although the singles from this aren't charting, this is a mostly decent set of hip hop / New Jack Swing revival pop. If you loved Bobby Brown but can't stand the man himself...

5 NE Ozzy Osbourne - Ordinary Man SPOTIFY
Features Duff McKagan (GNR) and Chad Smith (RHCP) throughout.

              6 3 Twin Atlantic - Power (5 weeks; peak #1)
              7 4 Cerrone - DNA (3 weeks; peak #2)
8 NE Debbie Wiseman / Stephen Fry / The National Symphony Orchestra - The Mythos Suite SPOTIFY
2 weeks after Seth Lakeman and Paul McGann, here's a more blatant spoken word / music release! I've credited them in sleeve order.

9 NE Christine and The Queens - La Vita Nuova (MA) SPOTIFY

Released on Thursday, a YouTube short film has condensed versions of the songs (and stars Caroline Polachek in a steamy scene!).

              10 9 The Modern - Revenge (10 weeks; peak #1)
              11 12 The Electric Soft Parade - Stages (8 weeks; peak #1)
              12 13 Selena Gomez - Rare (7 weeks; peak #3)
13 NE Agnes Obel - Myopia SPOTIFY
14 1 The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand (2 weeks; peak #1)
15 7 SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms) - Semiotics Department of Heteronyms (2 weeks; peak #7)
16 8 SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms) - Against Strong Thinking (MA) (2 weeks; peak #8)
17 NE Greg Dulli - Random Desire SPOTIFY
18 NE BTS - Map Of The Soul: 7
              SPOTIFY
One of the most popular tracks Louder Than Bombs* is an Allie X co-write. *BTS and The Smiths have something in common!

19 NE Wilsen - Ruiner SPOTIFY
20 NE Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
              SPOTIFY
I don't get it - there's barely a melody in sight. She charts just because she's trying.

22 NE SDH - Suffer - I gonna feature this one in my chart pretty soon

I've only managed to listen to three of those albums in your current chart this week - Ozzy, Humanist and Grimes albums. In short, Grimes is really well-produced, the Humanist one is more diverse, while Ozzy is disappointing.

                              • ^ That's funny! (Song is OK - better than the one that won - Finland ESC). The Swede one from Dotter is also better than the bland one that won. But i'm not charting either of them. I've only charted a couple of non-winning home country selection songs before - Deuce and Holly Tandy for UK. Of course, i can't even do that now.

                                • my favourite in this NF is this psych pop stuff, dude's been going off about bureaucracy, power structures and nepotism all wrapped in metaphors and poetic mysticism, so he won the jury vote easily.

Holly Tandy was the best in 2019 pre-selection, but my favourite UK Eurovision related song from last 25 years is "Wish I Loved You More" by Holly Brewer from 2017. I prefer her song even over Deuce, Bonnie Tyler, Scooch, Katrina & Waves, Gina G and Jessica Garlick.

1 NE The Birthday Massacre - The Last Goodbye

Their 7th #1! Should have charted this last week but they only publicised it on Facebook (on Saturday, a day after release) which i don't use much. Said to be the first proper single which hopefully means a promo video soon. More on the straight synthpop side than TSWT.

16 NE Janet Devlin - Away With The Fairies

Lovely vid. I'm surprised there aren't more songs with this title (self-deprecating or not).

                                        • Strong week, Killers a highlight for me after a disappointing last album.

Your #1 is great. Also I like the new Polly Scattergood & Cornershop. Still enjoying Jessie Ware.

Happy to see Paul & Jacqui scraping in the album countdown too. Agree it's on the lengthy side..
