Awesome! I was expecting an "I haven't touched it much" update on Yellow, so I'm really glad to hear it's kept you hooked (at least to the halfway point) Ha, I guess you've wound up with an Ash team after all (except you actually evolve yours) ;) Lv. 27 - 31 is a little on the lower side (since Erika's Gloom is Lv. 32), but hey - if you're making it through the game just fine without needing to grind as much, that's not a bad thing at all!

Haha Nah this time it seems like it’s working. I’m sure I’ll play this every now and then until I beat the Elite Four. It’s really interesting again at the moment and I’m loving it, the only factor which isn’t playing in its favor is the time, as when I would have the time, I often prefer just doing nothing or watching TV. True when it comes to my team, somehow it just turned out that way now. But in nearly every play through it happens that the first Pokémon that I catch also end up in my final team, because I already love them too much to replace them, so Pokémon which are able to get early in the game are always more lucky. I really had a few problems, currently I’m on my way from Lavender Town to Fuchsia City (I’m taking that way) and I have to go back to a Center all the time and already have to buy many Super Potions as well But slowly I’m getting there. A main problem are also the moves, most Pokémon have awful sets prior level 30, but Pikachu has Thunderbolt now, Ivysaur just got Razor Leaf and Butterfree & Pidgeotto only need one more level to get Psybeam & Wing Attack, so it’s getting easier and easier at the moment.

Also, what I completely forgot was the change in Erika’s team. I was excited to see Victreebel and Vileplume but I guess it would have been quite difficult to battle against these two

JUST lying next to each other...for HOURS? I find that a little hard to believe... ;)
Well, yeah, it sounds quite good that way. However, I would never do it when I’m in Switzerland as it would be embarrassing when people would see me who know me, as you can clearly see that you’re on something. Also I have no idea if I just was lucky to have no side effects as otherwise it’s actually too good. And yeah, I’m sure I would have loved that art without that as well, but with that it was even more intense.

Haha… I’m not quite sure if it’s meant that way or if I’m thinking way too ambiguous but that hard to believe can’t be a coincidence! Anyways, yes, we were just lying in bed for hours and just enjoyed the time. Of course it wasn’t the only thing we did that day, would have been too boring, but still…

True. Well, it’s interesting how streaming and iTunes can be so different sometimes. A good example may be Meghan Trainor’s “No Excuses”, which bombed on Spotify (I think it barely made the Top200 in the US in its debut week), despite being big on iTunes.

Yeah, at least from what I saw on YouTube. No idea what’s the idea behind that strategy… There’s a live video on YouTube now which wasn’t taken down (yet) and already has quite a lot views for a Swiss artist, so at least there’s something now…

Yes I’m sure! Actually, in the first few weeks when the album came out, “Alone” was even in the bottom three or so from the album. It grew on me a lot though, but it’s still very low, so that was already the case months prior the singles release

Well the question would be if it’s fair to compare songs which benefitted from a concert effect to others…

    • **Fingers crossed** the "Alone" video will bump it back into the Top 10 on your next chart!
    • Lovin' that Top 20 debut for "High Horse". Has Kacey had enough prior hits here to warrant one of those discography screenshots? I'm giving Kylie's Golden the bulk of my attention right now, but Golden Hour is definitely next in line (especially after seeing it get such positive reception from Akini and bluecherry).
    • REALLY pleased to see "Curious" debut! I'll save most of my thoughts on Expectations for when I respond to your comments over in my thread, but "Curious" was the track that first drew me to Hayley, and remains my clear favorite across the whole album.
    • I was wondering how a No. 29 ---> No. 35 drop could be considered "good news" for "Capital Letters" - but then I saw that glittering Gold cert! YES!

Yet another chart that's got me purring, Tansike!
Probably! I saw a few clips of Drag Race Thailand on YouTube and it looked like a lot of fun. I knowww…. there are some really handsome Pit Crew members

Is it bad of me when I didn’t bother to check the video out so far?

Not surprised to hear you’re loving that debut for “High Horse” Unfortunately I can’t give you a discography screenshot, simply because “High Horse” and “Golden Hour” are her very first notations EVER on my charts.
I’m sure “Golden Hour” will make a great impression on you, it’s a really good album

Glad you’re liking the entry for “Curious”, I already noticed how big it was on your charts. Actually I already heard a very few songs prior that one, I’m definitely positively surprised by the album.

    Hailee’s first certification

    Thank you a lot

      week 15/2018 – 12 april 2018 new albums by Cardi B, Kylie & ESC

      • Singles Top40

Auri is able to do what they nearly did last week – they’re getting a third week atop the charts with “The Space Between” (2-1). With this, the song ties Leaves’ Eyes’ “Across The Sea” as the longest running number one song of the year so far. It’s followed by The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name”, which is also up one position after its arrival a week ago (3-2). Rounding up the Top3 is one of the biggest hits of the year so far, which is “Friends” by Marshmello and Anne-Marie. The track is back up 6-3 in its ninth week, with five of them being inside the Top3 now.

It’s not the busiest week, with only four new arrivals in the Top40 and two re-entries, which are due to album releases. The highest of these new entries is “One Kiss”, a new collaboration by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. The track makes a great entry at #5, making it Calvin’s fifth Top5 entry following “We Found Love” (#1, 2011), “I Need Your Love” (#1, 2013), “Outside” (#2, 2014) and “Feels” (#4, 2017). As for Dua Lipa, “One Kiss” is her second highest appearance ever, as only “New Rules” peaked higher (#3, 2017), with her debut hit “Be The One” being close to a Top5 hit as well (#7, 2016). John Legend gets his very first Top10 notation as his latest release “A Good Night” enters the charts at #9, which also becomes a second Top10 hit for the featured BloodPop. A third and rather shocking entry also makes the Top10. German YouTube personality Katja Krasavice is someone who is very controversial, and yet she always gets million of views on her channel. Last year she released her debut single “Doggy”, which made the Top10 on the official charts in Austria and Germany, and yes, she wasn’t singing about dogs. Now she’s back with a second single called “Dicke Lippen”, which also hit the top spot on the iTunes charts in the German speaking countries. The ambiguous song may be trashy but still is a huge guilty pleasure, and now it also becomes her first notation on my charts at #10.

After just a few weeks, Canadian R&B singer Drake is already back with a new track called “Nice For What”. It barely makes this weeks chart though as it debuts at #40, but it surely will be another worldwide hit for him, due to whatever reasons. The two re-entries are as mentioned due to album releases. The first one is “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B, which benefits from the release of Cardi’s debut album “Invasion Of Privacy” and re-enters the charts at #23. The second one is “Dancing” by Kylie, which is back to #26 due to the release of “Golden”, the latest studio album by the Australian legend.

The rest of the best: RuPaul’s “Kitty Girl” is down 1-4, “Flames” becomes a Top10 hit for David Guetta and Sia as it’s rising 12-6, Louisa falls 4-7 with “YES” and Sam Smith’s “Pray” is down 5-8.

Just outside the Top10 there are a few interesting climbers. Auri not only return to the top spot with “The Space Between”, but they’re having a good week in general as their debut single “Night 13” rises back up 19-11. It’s followed by Kacey Musgraves’ “High Horse”, which gets a new peak by climbing 15-12. The third climber is Charlie Puth, as he is up with “Done For Me” for a third week (17-13). “Done For Me” ties his previous single “How Long” as the highest peaking track of his upcoming second album “Voicenotes” now, though “How Long” debuted at that position and left the charts after four weeks. With three new entries arriving in the Top10 and one climber, it’s obvious to see four songs leaving that part of the charts, and that are “079” by Lo & Leduc (8-14), “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes (10-15), “Verliebt, verlobt, verflixt nochmal” by Beatrice Egli (7-16) and “My Immortal” by Evanescence (9-18).

The biggest climber is “Night 13” by Auri while the biggest loser this week is Evanescence’ “My Heart Is Broken” (26-38).

      • Album Top20

It’s the same scenario as on the Singles Top40, as Auri claims the top spot back with their self-titled album, giving them a second week atop the charts. While it’s already the fourth album with multiple weeks atop the charts in 2018 so far, it’s only the first time an album left the top spot and returned to it this year. And their biggest competition also came from The Weeknd, as he’s not only at second place on the Singles Charts, but also dips 1-2 with “My Dear Melancholy,” on the Album Top20.

Three new arrivals made the Top20 and they’re all debuting back to back. The highest one goes to Cardi B. The rapper has released her debut album “Invasion Of Privacy”, which immediately becomes a Top3 success as it’s new at #3. This is quite impressive, as it basically only spawned one hit single so far with the #2 peaking hit “Bodak Yellow”, while the singles “Bartier Cardi” (#20) and “Be Careful” (#18) both only barely made the Top20. Cardi is followed by Australian singer and legend Kylie Minogue, who has released her 14th album called “Golden”. The set makes a strong debut at #4, which is a huge improvement to the #11 peak of her last release “Kiss Me Once” from 2014. Last but not least, it’s this time of the year again, and as every spring, the compilation for the Eurovision Song Contest makes its arrival. The 2018 edition starts at #5 following its release on the streaming services, and it’s very likely to see it climbing up further in the upcoming weeks.

The rest of the Top10: Faun’s “XV – Best Of” dips 5-6 and goes Gold this week, Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour” is down 3-7, Nightwish’s “Decades” drops 4-8, Brandi Carlile’s “By The Way, I Forgive You” slips 7-9 and “Synthesis” by Evanescence closes the Top10 (6-10).

Three albums leave the upper half. Hayley Kiyoko didn’t have the best start for her debut release “Expectations”, but she also doesn’t have a big second week decline as it’s only down 9-11. The drop for “The Open Door” by Evanescence is a bit bigger, as the set falls 8-12 but still does good considering the circumstances. The third album to leave the upper half is Beatrice Egli’s “Wohlfühlgarantie”, as it’s down 10-14. Ashley Tisdale collects her very first album certification as her “Music Sessions, Vol. 1” EP goes Gold this week (17-16). Last thing worth a mention is something about an album which leaves the Top20 completely, and that’s The Dark Element’s self-titled studio album. The set had a huge start as expected, but after only two weeks outside the Top10 – after an impressive 19 consecutive weeks in the upper half – it’s already falling off completely. In comparison: Anette Olzon’s solo debut album “Shine” didn’t leave the Top10 for its first 30 weeks and left the Top20 for the first time after 74 weeks!

Great to see Beatrice so high! I like the verses more than the chorus but still a great song.

Only two weeks on the chart for "My Immortal" . Oh, I guess this is perfectly explained by the fact that you didn't start your chart until several years after it was released. (This is their only song that has charted on my chart btw.)

Hadn't noticed "Delicate" became a single. Decent choice, hope "Getaway Car" is next up!

Wohlfühlgarantie should have gone much higher, but #5 is OK ;) (As you know this is album of the year so far for me.)

I still haven't listened to the full History (only a few weeks left now), but it's a good EP just from "Sanctuary" alone.

              ***

Lots and lots of songs (from this week and earlier) that I haven't checked out yet. It's like the year hasn't really started for me. Maybe my interest in new music is in perpetual decline now, or maybe it's just an extended dip similar to what has happened before.

I guess I should check out the albums by Brandi Carlile and Madison Beer, as both artists have appeared on my chart (although not recently).

              • Re: My Charts - week 15 - new albums by Cardi B, Kylie & ESC

                Thanks for coming by, Magnus!

Beatrice' song really hit me so unexpected. It's a current guilty pleasure of mine and i'm quite sad that it didn't enter the official charts in the German speaking countries. It's her second best single to date IMO, only behind "Federleicht".

Yes, you're right when it comes to "My Immortal". I didn't compile my chart when the song came out, i only started doing so in 2006. It's one of their best songs ever and finally deserved an entry here - glad to hear you enjoyed it, too!

Well, i think you're not the only one when it comes to the single release of "Delicate", as it's pretty much flopping so far on the charts out there.

Yeah i know that, however, "Wohlfühlgarantie" is doing amazing for her considering her only other entry on my Album Charts ("Kick im Augenblick") peaked at #10

I hope you will enjoy "History" - it's such a positive surprise!

Well, there's no pressure in checking things out and i think it would be wrong to check things out just to have checked it out. I'm sure you'll get in the mood to do so soon

As for these two - i really enjoy both! Had no idea what to expect from Madison's EP but it's really, really good. Brandi's album is strong, not too sure if you may like it though. Did you enjoy Brandi the last time you checked something out from her?

I did, but it was ten years ago. "Already Home" from 2008 made it to #10 on my chart, after that it looks like I haven't checked anything out.

                  • ^ Oh, and that's not even a song by her!

If you decide to check her out, you may check out the song "The Joke" at first, as it's the first single of the album and gives a good picture about her style.

Ha, that part about "when I would have the time, I often prefer just doing nothing or watching TV" definitely applies to me and UKMIX sometimes which is why I just stick to a few personal charts each week.

I hear you about preferring to keep your first Pokémon. It hasn't happened often, but when my staters have "died" in Nuzlockes, I felt less connected to my whole team and less invested in the whole playthrough. I never rotate the staters out of my main squad in any playthrough (even if I come across something technically "better" of the same type). The other spots are pretty much always open to change, though Were all the Ghost-types in Lavender Town giving you trouble? Ha, yeah, I often forget just how bad the Gen I movesets were until I revisit those games. The gaps between learning each new move were pretty huge, and there weren't many mid-range moves to tide them over until they learned the really powerful options (which means they're stuck using really weak attacks for quite a while) :x At least you can abuse those ridiculous Gen I critical hit mechanics with "Razor Leaf."

Of course it wasn’t the only thing we did that day, would have been too boring, but still…
Surely you've been drunk in public at SOME point in Switzerland? ;) It's very responsible of you to want to maintain a mature/professional image, though! I just hope you still let yourself let loose sometimes (without having to leave the country first...)

Kidding aside, just lying together/cuddling can be totally satisfying. Affectionate human contact/physical intimacy is really wonderful (even when it doesn't end in orgasm).

Yeah, which is strange to see, because you'd think that if so many people are willing to pay for a song, then shouldn't plenty of people also be interested in streaming it for free? It's like the people who still buy/download their music are drawn to totally different stuff than the streaming crowd (and vice versa) sometimes...

That's a fair point, since the concert effect (almost) guarantees a strong rebound (whereas songs that manage that without any concert are even more rare/impressive).

It might be the fact that whatever album I checked out right after Kylie's Golden was bound to sound less impressive, but I was surprised by just how slow and...sad...much of Golden Hour sounds. A lot of it has a more subdued, reflective feeling than I expected. Kind of a downer or maybe just a grower?

                      • So "The Space Between" might not have the record for the biggest rebound to No. 1, but it looks like it's working toward the record for the most number of rebounds to No. 1. ;)
                      • I'd seen someone describe "One Kiss" as something like "lounge-y," and I think that's really fitting. I like it, but it kind of feels more like background music at a club or something than a song that really grabs my full attention. The 90's house vibes make for a fun throwback, though, and I'm glad it's helping Dua rack up another hit on official charts.
                      • Lovely to see "Dancing" back thanks to the album effect! That makes me wonder: what's the shortest chart run for a song that peaked at No. 2 here?
                      • I hadn't been thinking about it much until I saw it mentioned in the song's Pop section thread, but poor "On The Loose" really flopped HARD No. 94 in the UK, never entered the Hot 100, never charted in Australia... :-?
                      • No. 1 debut in the US, No. 1 debut in the UK...No. 40 debut for Tansike. Guess Drake's gonna have to come up with something better to top this chart ;) Did "God's Plan" ever even appear here? I've really liked some of his singles ("Best I Ever Had," "Find Your Love," "Hold On, We're Going Home," "One Dance"), but the stuff that's been blowing up for him lately hasn't been clicking with me.

                      Yet another vast chart, Tansike!

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves doing ‘nothing’ every now and then
Ah yeah, I’m very happy to have the freedom to visit UKMix at work as well so I’m often doing stuff here while I’m at work, and don’t even do that many things at home. Otherwise I wouldn’t be as active as I am now.

Oh wow, this actually happens with me as well. Well, in ‘normal’ playthroughs of course. But if one of my team member dies, I’m always feeling less connected, and actually also feel so sorry for it It’s interesting how one connects with the own team so much. No, Lavender Town was no problem at all. But I completely forgot the storyline so at first I forgot that I need to visit Celadon City first before doing Lavender Town. Also, I completely forgot how to pick up a bike so I only got it now
True about the moves, that’s probably the only negative thing about the first gens. At least to me, as the graphics never bothered me and I still love the storyline. Yes! I still remember how much Razor Leaf slayed back when I played the first gen for the first few times and with later gens I was always disappointed that it’s not even that strong

No To be fair, I never drank that much that I got drunk-drunk. Just tipsy. But I’ve never been someone who goes out often and drinks much, so yeah… and now that I’m slowly getting there, there’s barely someone to join me!

It really is. Also, I LOOOVE to cuddle

Yes, definitely! There’s a new example now; “Cry Pretty” by Carrie Underwood. It’s been #1 on US iTunes for like four or five days now yet it only appeared in the Spotify Top200 for one day and already left them

Well, I saw the video for “Alone” now. At least more or less, because I didn’t watch the whole thing and just skipped a few seconds here and there. It wasn’t as good as I was hoping for, sadly.

So her previous stuff is more happy? Because I was surprised as well how slow & sad the songs on “Golden Hour” sound, and since it’s my first record from her I have no idea how her previous stuff sounded like. But I’m liking that sound, she’s doing a great job and critics also love it a lot. I hope it’s the latter for you, a grower

Yep, “Let Me Go” came pretty close to a Gold cert as well though.

That’s an interesting point of view! To be honest, I also thought about it if it actually ever happened that a song had a chartrun like this (1-x-1-x-1-). I just looked it up a bit and on first sight “Wrecking Ball” by Miley, “Slow Down” by Selena and Nightwish’s “Élan” had at least three ‘runs’ atop the charts as well.

Sounds fitting to me as well! I’m really enjoying hit, and Calvin is always hit or miss for me and this definitely belongs more to the first category. But I agree, it’s more like background music and I’m afraid that I’ll be over it rather quickly.

Hmm… that must be Björk’s “The Gate”, which left the charts after three weeks (2-20-40-Out) last year. Aura’s “Love Somebody” made 2-9-15-26-Out in 2016, Avril’s “Hello Kitty” (2-14-20-33-Out) and Christina Perri’s “Human” (2-12-16-31-Out) also only made four weeks in 2014… these are the shortest staying #2 hits during the Top40 era.

I’m not surprised, as there was zero promo plus it’s already the fourth single of an album which basically died weeks ago. A shame, as it deserved much more. Guess the chances for “Seeing Blind” to be a single are zero now

he can top something else for me Sorry, I had to come up with this!! Eh… Drake is so mediocre lately, so I completely agree with you. He just announced a new album for June and I’m afraid the charts will be FULL of Drake then and I’m already annoyed now Don’t get the fuss about him. “God’s Plan” made it to #26 here, but only stayed in the Top40 for that one week.

                          Thanks a lot

If you decide to check her out, you may check out the song "The Joke" at first, as it's the first single of the album and gives a good picture about her style.
What do you mean? Is it a cover, or is it by another singer who has the same name? Thanks, will check it out, not sure when... (Btw, it is illegal to use "^" when the previous post isn't on the same page. Maybe more appropriate to use "<" )
Oh sorry for not being clear. I meant that the song you mentioned - "Already Home" - isn't a song with Brandi as the lead artist. At least when i look it up it says 'Ha*Ash feat. Brandi Carlile'.

Ha, to my defence, i didn't know that a new page would start with my reply

                            • ^ Ah, you're right of course! I just looked her up in my database and then it lists all the songs with her regardless if she's the main artist or just a feature and I didn't remember and forgot to double-check . With that song excluded I haven't heard anything by her since her 2007 album, which flopped.

^ no problem. But i guess it's not the best sign if the only song with her that made your charts isn't even one with her as the lead artist So i guess there's no need to hurry to check her out!

                                  week 16/2018 – 19 april 2018 a Radioactive concert effect

                                  • Singles Top40

Only a month after the first concert effect of the year made its impact on my charts, the second one already kicks in and has an even bigger influence on this weeks Singles Top40 and Album Top20. The lucky ones are Imagine Dragons, who had their stop in Switzerland on their ‘Evolve World Tour’ last Friday, which basically gave them a full week of concert effect. The band has a total of ten re-entries in the Top40, making them only the fourth act with a two-digit-number amount of tracks on the charts, following the concert effects for Within Temptation in 2014 (ten entries), Rihanna in 2016 (11 entries) and Zara Larsson in 2017 (11 entries). In total, it’s the 20th time a concert has a significant effect on my charts since Nightwish made the start six years ago in 2012.

Despite all this and despite getting three very high re-entries, the top song isn’t by Imagine Dragons, but by another American musician. “The Champion” was just a side project for Country superstar Carrie Underwood, now the singer is back with a real thing as she just released “Cry Pretty”, the lead single to her upcoming sixth studio album with the same name. The track immediately has an amazing start as it arrives atop the charts, making it Carrie’s third number one single following “Smoke Break” (one week in 2015) and “Church Bells” (two weeks in 2016), her seventh Top5 hit in a row and her 12th chart entry in total.

So, now it’s time to look at the entries by Imagine Dragons. The highest re-entry goes to “Whatever It Takes”. The song debuted and peaked at #4 in the first week of 2018, and gets a new peak now through the concert effect as it’s back at #2. It also goes Gold this week, being their first single certification since 2013 and also becomes their highest peaking track ever. Their biggest hit to date – “Radioactive” – also makes a stellar comeback, as it re-peaks at #4 for a 25th week in the Top40. Also back in the Top10 is “Believer”, which previously peaked at #13 and makes it to #5 now. A fourth track nearly made the Top10, and that’s their latest single release “Next To Me”. The song failed to make a big impression so far, but gets a new peak at #11 now. Other re-entries for the band: “Thunder” at #23, “Gold” at #24, “Warriors” at #27, “Demons” at #34, “On Top Of The World” at #36 and “I Bet My Life” at #39. From all singles which were performed on their concert, only “It’s Time” and “Shots” weren’t able to make a comeback on the Top40.

As if the week wouldn’t be busy enough with Imagine Dragons’ slayage, there are also a few other regular debuts this week. Nicki Minaj is finally back with own music, and she even released two singles at once with “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz”. Both songs make the Top10, with “Chun-Li” being slightly higher (#8) than “Barbie Tingz” (#9). It’s the first time Nicki appears on the charts without another artist since “The Night Is Still Young” made it to #14 in 2015, and even the first time she makes the Top10 on her own since “Anaconda” peaked at #3 nearly four years ago. With these two entries, Nicki also breaks the tie with Lady Gaga to have the second most chart entries ever for any artist on my charts with 31, though only 14 of them are really by her while the others are all features or duets. The crown still belongs to Rihanna, who has 37 chart entries so far. Following the surprising Top20 hit “Best Friends”, electronic duo Sofi Tukker already get their second Top20 entry as “Batshit” enters the charts at #18 as the latest single of their newly released debut album “Treehouse”. Also arriving in the upper half is Florence + The Machine, as the singer gets her very first Top20 hit with “Sky Full Of Song” (#20). Last but not least, the sixth and final regular entry of the week is “Let Me” by former One Direction member Zayn at #40.

The rest of the best: Katja Krasavice’s “Dicke Lippen” makes a rather shocking jump and goes up 10-3, Auri’s “The Space Between” falls 1-6, Marshmello & Anne-Marie get a tenth week in the Top10 for “Friends” (3-7) and The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name” drops 2-10.

It’s a very busy week, so it’s no surprise to see many songs falling lots of places. It’s probably more interesting to take a look at the songs which remain pretty stable, and that would be “Done For Me” by Charlie Puth and Kehlani, which only dips 13-15, “High Horse” by Kacey Musgraves which has a rather small drop (12-17), and My Indigo’s “Crash And Burn” also only goes down 19-22 after falling more in the past few weeks. The latter may increase again next week, as My Indigo’s self-titled studio album will be out tomorrow. From all the drops this week, the most shocking and biggest ones are RuPaul’s “Kitty Girl” (4-14), John Legend’s “A Good Night” (9-28), Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” (20-31), Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood” (15-32) and Evanescence’ “My Immortal” (18-33), which is the last remaining song on the charts from their concert effect.

Katja Krasavice’s “Dicke Lippen” is not only the biggest climber, but even the only song to gain some spots in the whole Top40 this week, while last weeks biggest climber – “Night 13” by Auri – tumbles down 11-29 and is the biggest loser this week.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to see Imagine Dragons making a comeback right at the top of the Album Top20 with their third studio album “Evolve” following the immense concert effect on the singles charts. With that, the album does what it wasn’t able to do last year, as it stopped at the runner-up position for four weeks before falling down, and now it becomes their second chart topper. The other one was their second album “Smoke + Mirrors”, which makes it back to #13 this week. However, their biggest success so far still is their debut “Night Visions”, which is back at #11 this week.

Apart from these re-entries, there are also two new entries on the charts this week. American electronic duo Sofi Tukker has released their debut album called “Treehouse”, and while they have yet to get a Top10 entry on the singles charts, “Treehouse” immediately does it on the album charts as it arrives at #4. It’s followed by “PTX Presents: Top Pop, Vol. I”, the latest release by Acapella band Pentatonix. With its arrival at #5 it becomes their fourth Top5 entry and fifth chart entry on the album charts overall, which makes the band one of a very few artists who have more entries on the album charts than on the singles charts.

The rest of the Top10: Cardi B gets a new peak as her “Invasion Of Privacy” rises 3-2, Auri are down 1-3 with their self-titled album, The Weeknd’s “My Dear Melancholy,” falls 2-6, the compilation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 slips 5-7, Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour” dips 7-8, Faun’s “XV – Best Of” is down 6-9 while Kylie Minogue’s “Golden” drops 4-10.

Three albums leave the upper half this week. Nightwish’s “Decades” (8-12) and Evanescence’ “Synthesis” (10-14) are two of them, the third is a rather interesting one, as it’s Brandi Carlile’s “By The Way, I Forgive You”. The set spent the last eight weeks in the upper half, being really stable, but it drops 9-15 out of a sudden now. Last thing worth a mention is something about “History” by Emmelie de Forest. The record dips 17-18 in its tenth week and goes Gold this week, becoming Emmelie’s first certified release in four years.

                                    • You know I love Carrie Underwood - she's my favourite country artist of all-time, and among my Top 10 favourite acts in music ever - but "Cry Pretty" is awful by her standards. I remember listening so intently to it that first day trying to salvage something from the wreckage, a lyric to latch onto, maybe a vocal moment to blast the disappointment of the overall track, but I found nothing.

I love the Imagine Dragons concert effect. Hope your mom enjoyed it as much as you did! "Whatever It Takes" is officially my favourite Imagine Dragons song, so great to have that one back at #2.

There's been a lot of new music from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Zayn, Florence + the Machine, and John Legend, with none of them releasing anything close to their best work, but maybe the best is still to come as they ready their new LPs.

Hmm... i totally get your point and to be honest, i'm also underwhelmed by "Cry Pretty". Especially after "Storyteller" had so many great offerings, "Cry Pretty" seems weak. It's still a good song though. The #1 debut on my charts is also due to weak competition; there may be a lot of things going on with the concert effect and other new arrivals, but the competition for the top spot was still quite inexistent and she basically did it with her name alone

Yes, she loved it! I didn't expect too much but they really slayed and gave such a brilliant show! "Whatever It Takes" is definitely a great pick - and while i still prefer "Radioactive" and "Warriors" overall, it's definitely the best single of "Evolve" (so far)

Agree, they all already did some better stuff, but especially Nicki's tracks are really enjoyable

                                          • I'd like to give a short update on the poll i created a few weeks ago regarding the 'design' of my charts:

I'm very happy and excited to tell that i'm going to try something different for next week, so for week 17/2018. The difference won't be too big compared to how it's done now, but i'm absolutely excited nonetheless. I think the way i'll do it afterwards will be slightly more reader-friendly, but will also be slightly easier to do for me, so it could be a win-win situation for both parts.

I will start a new poll next thursday once the new charts will be posted and i would love to get a few feedbacks

Thanks for always reading/commeting/checking my charts - always really appreciated!

                                            • It is Always strange to see how a concert visit changes your hitlist.

I visit a lot of concerts and mostly enjoy them (a lot), but there is no interaction between that and my hitlist (ok, maybe their current single could get a slight bump), You open the drawer of old songs from the band you visited and insert them into your list.
My list is (like most hitlists) the best of the current releases, and not an all-time list, so for me it would be strange to suddenly insert a whole lot of songs of a band I just saw (and if you visit between 50 and 150 concerts a year like me, the influence would be quite constant)!

I do make a list of best concerts I visited at the end of each year!

That said, you (and everyone) can ofcourse make their own hitlist, just how they see fit!

About Imagine Dragons, I saw them live twice before, great concerts, I do not like their current release 'Next to me'!
Their second album was a bit of a disappointment, but with Evolve they are really back!

                                              • Re: My Charts - week 16 - a Radioactive concert effect

^ thank you for your comment.

Actually, my list contains my most popular songs of the week or the songs which had the biggest impact on me during a week. Since i'm always creating a playlist of the setlists from concerts i attend, i also play them quite often and so i'm hearing them over and over again. This plus the excitement of the concert itself is always the reason why these concerts have such an influence on my charts.

Same thing could also happen with other events, but they would need a big impact on me and my daily life.

As someone who didn't see that many concerts yet and still don't visit concerts that often, something like a concert still as a huge influence on me and therefor also on my charts. If i would attend a concert like once a week or even more, it would most probably have no influence anymore. Same could happen in a few years, when attending concerts is nothing new or too exciting for me anymore.

                                                I hope this makes sense

Glad to hear you also experienced Imagine Dragons live. They were so much better than i expected to be honest, so it may have been not the last time. I'm also not the biggest fan of "Next To Me", definitely one of their weaker singles to date... and i'm also agreeing with you when it comes to their albums

                                                • Carrie Underwood's new single didn't "get" me on the first listen, but well, it's Carrie so it will be getting a second chance for sure.

Have to check out this "Thick Lips" song, interesting comments on it... I'm prepared to hear something horrible though.

It seems the ESC collection is doing worse this year than the years before, or am I wrong (too lazy to go back and check)? I did my traditional "blind" listening of all the entries today; hadn't heard any of the songs before except the Swedish one. Although I was able to figure one out from seeing the title here before (it drops off your chart this week). I'm actually listening to one of the entries on repeat right now, still haven't checked country/artist/title but this song is a true standout not just by how much I like it but in style compared to the others. If you reply to this comment don't tell me which one it is though! I plan to wait up to a week before I check. (Only after that will I start checking and commenting in the ESC threads.)

Edit: I realized while listening to the ESC entries how cool it would be if all of my hearing new songs for the first time was "blind", so now that I will no longer be posting my weekly chart here I am seriously thinking about spending a week programming an "AI" that will find the new songs I'm likely to like, replace artist and title with just an id number and also take care of the stuff I now have to do manually (such as registering the songs in my database) so that I can just hit play on my phone when I'm out walking. Then I can have weeks of "unbiased" listening before the identity is revealed, and the stuff I don't like I could even delete without ever knowing what it was. This might be the (only?) thing that will revive my interest in new music.

                                                  • Sometimes I think I know your music taste a bit Tansike and then you completely surprise me hahaha

I'm a little surprised to not see Golden from Kylie really clicking with you much. Not even to see 1 song make a bit of a dent on your chart apart from Dancing's small traction.

I would of expected Cardi B to debut high on the album charts, however to remain consistent the week after I did not (i expected it to fall quite harshly).

But at least you're keeping me on my toes!!!

Carrie's song Cry Pretty debuting @ #1 is also a suprise (this time in a nice way ).

+ I LOVEEEEEE the Imagine Dragons re-enter with Whatever It Takes
