Bubbling Under

Taylor Swift keeps smashing on the Album Top20 and also has her best week in a long time on the Singles Top40, so it’s coming as a little surprise to see the singer also slaying the Bubbling Under chart this week like she never did before. Folklore album opener The 1 rises 3-1 to become her first chart topper on this chart. While Exile with Bon Iver has to leave the Bubbling Under chart due to its arrival on the main chart, the only other entry Taylor had a week ago was Mad Woman, that also jumps 5-2 this week. In addition to those two, four further album tracks of Folklore make their debut on the Bubbling Under chart this week with August at #4, Seven at #5, The Last Great American Dynasty at #7 and My Tears Ricochet at #8.

Since this was a rather quiet week when it comes to new releases for both, singles and albums, all other tracks on the Bubbling Under chart are all owned by Ellie Goulding and there are no further debuts. Brightest Blue is still doing really fine on the Album Top20 and still has four entries left on the Bubbling Under chart with How Deep Is Too Deep (1-3), Love I’m Given (2-6), Start (4-9) and New Heights (6-10).

From one of the most quiet weeks this year to one of the busier ones, as a total of nine new entries and one re-entry found their way to the Singles Top40 this week, with five of them actually battling for the top spot, also making this one of the most competitive weeks in a very long time.

In the end, it was Lindsey Stirling who won the race and tops the charts with her new single What You’re Made Of, featuring Canadian singer Kiesza. The song was only announced last week, a few days before it actually dropped and really came as a surprise, as it’s not part of Lindsey’s latest album Artemis, but would fit well to its theme plus the track came out in the same week as Kiesza’s comeback album Crave, that also enters the Album Top20 this week. Kiesza previously peaked at #4 with Hideaway, making this collaboration her highest charting song ever. As for Lindsey, What You’re Made Of becomes her impressive 33rd chart entry overall, 21st number one hit and seventh consecutive chart entry to actually debut right at the top spot. Her two previous singles are still charting as well, with Between Twilight dipping 16-20 and Sleepwalking moving 25-23.

The second highest new arrival goes to Miley Cyrus, who finally released a new single called Midnight Sky that debuts at #2. It’s her first entry since Don’t Call Me Angel with Ariana Grande & Lana Del Rey also debuted and peaked at #2 nearly one year ago and becomes her 21st chart entry, with all but Slide Away (#6) having peaked inside the Top3.

American Rock band Evanescence complete the Top3 with their new single Use My Voice arriving at #3. The band is still preparing the release of their new album The Bitter Truth and while its first two singles Wasted On You (#6) and The Game Is Over (#7) also made the Top10, they had no longevity at all and already left the Top40 after just four and three weeks. Use My Voice therefor not only has a better debut, but considering it’s a rather competitive week this is a really good sign and the track may finally be another proper hit for them. It also features voices from several other artists such as Lindsey Stirling, Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), though they only contribute some backing vocals and aren’t credited on the track.

Other new and re-entries this week: Next in line when it comes to new entries are Amaranthe, who released their new single Strong featuring Noora Louhimo that is new at #5. It’s the third single for their upcoming new album Manifest, also making 2020 the first year the band scores more than two entries. Strong is also the follow-up to Viral, that falls 11-16 this week but gets certified with Gold, being their very first single doing so. Swedish singer and former Eurovision contestant Anna Bergendahl was also in the run for topping the chart this week, but has to settle down with a #6 debut for her new single Thelma And Louise. It’s already her third Top10 entry this year following Speak Love (#10) and Kingdom Come (#6).

Four more new entries and one re-entry to go, with Dua Lipa being the next artist who owns one of the new arrivals. The singer has been on a very successful era with her second album Future Nostalgia, and while the latest single Hallucinate is still doing its job (13-17), she already announced a club remix album for Future Nostalgia and released the first single out of it: Levitating, featuring Queen of Pop Madonna and Queen Of Rap Missy Elliott. The song starts at #12 this week with great potential of reaching the Top10 later on. Charlie Puth teamed up with blackbear on his new single Hard On Yourself, that starts at #25 this week. Swiss Schlager-Pop singer Beatrice Egli has released two sets of Best Of albums and also has one of the new arrivals and the re-entry on the chart this week. Bunt debuts at #27, becoming her ninth chart entry, while Verliebt, verlobt, verflixt nochmals is back at #36. Last but not least, R&B songstress Ciara enters the charts at #34 with her new single Rooted, that features singers-songwriter Ester Dean. This marks Ciara’s tenth chart entry ever since Body Party was her first notation back in 2013.

Other talking points this week: Ava Max’ leader from the last two weeks - Who’s Laughing Now - drops 1-4. She also falls down with Kings & Queens (9-19) and Salt (18-33), while Torn (ex #30) and So Am I (#37) both have to leave the Top40. The singer should get another boost once her debut album gets released next month. After a strong week, Taylor Swift also falls down with her two chart entries, though Exile (2-7) and Cardigan (4-10) both at least stay in the Top10. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP just missed out the Top10 with its arrival at #12 last week and despite five new entries above them, the song is still moving 12-11. And even bigger jump has The Chicks’ March March, as it rises 29-18 to become their first Top20 entry. There are also good news for Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, as their Rain On Me gets certified with Platinum this week (22-26). Last but not least, despite this being a busy week, Foxes’ Woman survives and even climbs 40-37.

The Chicks’ March March is the biggest climber while Doja Cat’s Freak drops 14-39 as the biggest loser this week.

Album Top20

It’s the same situation on the Album Top20 like on the Singles Top40: Following an extremely quiet week, there have been tons of new releases that make this week one of the busiest of the year. Six new arrivals find their way to the chart, but none of those were strong enough to top Taylor Swift, who spends a third consecutive week atop the chart with Folklore. With three weeks at #1, Folklore ties Miss Anthropocene by Grimes (9-13) as the third longest running number one album of 2020 so far, being only behind Nightwish’s HUMAN. :||: NATURE. (5-7) with five weeks and Lady Gaga’s Chromatica (8-11) with seven weeks.

Taylor’s biggest competition came from Swiss Schlager-Pop singer Beatrice Egli, who actually has the two highest new arrivals this week and both land inside the Top3. Beatrice Egli won the German edition of American Idol back in 2013 as the second Swiss artist winning the series and ever since that victory, Beatrice has become one of the most successful singers from Switzerland ever, still scoring Top3 albums in all German speaking countries. Last week, the singer has released two new sets at once, with Mini Schwiiz, mini Heimat being some kind of a best of album with some of her biggest hits being new recorded in Swiss-German, including some new songs, while BUNT - Best Of is a proper Best Of compilation and also includes some new songs. Mini Schwiiz, mini Heimat debuts at #2, while BUNT is new at #3. Both are new heights for her, as she previously peaked at #5 with her albums Wohlfühlgarantie (2018) and Natürlich! (2019).

Other new entries this week: Two new arrivals were mentioned, four more to go! Interestingly, only half of all those new releases made the upper half and even more interestingly, the three that didn’t make the Top10 are all just EPs. But first things first with Canadian singer Kiesza, who released her second album Crave that enters the charts at #9 this week. Kiesza rose to fame with her hit Hideaway back in 2014, that also peaked at #4 on My Charts. Her debut album Sound Of A Woman was released in 2014 as well and debuted and peaked at #6, so far from being the biggest success ever. Following a very long break, the singer is finally back and just in time for her new collaboration with Lindsey Stirling on What You’re Made Of, Crave also proves to be better than expected and therefor becomes her second Top10 album.

As mentioned, the other three new arrivals are all EPs and all missed the Top10. First up is American Rock band Halestorm, who previously peaked at #3 with Vicious in mid 2018, but fall short with their new Reimagined EP that only makes it to #12 this week. YouTube star Tori Kelly has it even worse, as she debuted and peaked at #1 with Inspired By True Events exactly one year ago, but only arrives at #15 with her Solitude EP. The sixth and final debut of the week goes to Country starlet RaeLynn, who enters the charts at #16 with Baytown EP, her second appearance following the #3 peaking WildHorse from 2017.

Other talking points this week: Lindsey Stirling is about to celebrate the one year anniversary for her current album Artemis. Just before doing so, the album has another breath of life and jumps back up 10-5. With several of the new arrivals not making the Top10, Drag stars Jujubee and Blair St. Clair hold on well in the upper half with their albums Good Juju: Vol. 2 (4-8) and Identity (7-10), though the Queen of all Drag Queens - RuPaul - has a big drop for American (12-19). Apache 207 has an even bigger downfall, as his Treppenhaus falls 6-17 following two weeks at #6. Last but not least, with March March becoming a Top20 hit this week, it’s less surprising to see The Chicks’ Gaslighter only declining 11-14 in such a busy week.

Bubbling Under

In opposite to the Singles Top40 and the Album Top20, the Bubbling Under chart is not the busiest one this week and is still owned by Taylor Swift, while Ellie Goulding also still has some entries left. Only two re-entries found their way to the chart, but more to those later on.

Since Taylor is topping the album charts for a third straight week with Folklore, it’s surely not a big surprise to see her still having six entries on this list, with The 1 topping the chart for a second week, closely followed by Mad Woman (2-2), Seven (5-3) and August (4-4). The Last Great American Dynasty also rises a bit (7-6), but My Tears Ricochet dips 8-10.

Ellie Goulding loses two of her entries as Start (ex #9) and New Heights (#10) leave the chart, but How Deep Is Too Deep (3-5) and Love I’m Given (6-8) are still holding up relatively well as the clear standouts of Brightest Blue.

Last but not least, with Lindsey Stirling having the highest new entry on the Singles Top40 and a resurge for her album Artemis on the Album Top20, she also owns the two re-entries on the Bubbling Under chart as Foreverglow is back at #7 while the Amy Lee assisted Love Goes On And On returns to #9. Both have been huge hits on the Bubbling Under chart over the last year.

Well thats must explain why your English is so good then! I'm actually Australian, but I speak French and love French music so I can see how that assumption can be easily made.

Nice to see Ellie sticking around in your charts. The music video to Love I'm Given was released 2 days ago, so hopefully we can see it move from your Bubbling Under into your actual Singles Chart. It's definitely one of the highlights from her latest album and is performing significantly better than other album tracks on Spotify so it's a wise choice for them to finally pay it attention...hopefully not too late.

I see that you're really getting into Evanescence's latest output, but despite being a fan (I have all their albums), I have enjoyed nothing so far from this project. At least your happy though! I hope it's not going to be another long 5+. year wait for their next album if they release one.

That's amazing! It doesn't make sense why she didn't include "Freaking Me Out" as it would fit well to the 'Hell' side of the album. Plus the album has two sides but 15 tracks, would have been better if both sides had 8 tracks each. I'll probably still add it on the final tracklist.

I haven't calcuated the exact point totals since doing my Mid-Year Update at the end of June, but I'm pretty sure YSBS is still slightly ahead of ROM (since it had a longer run). I haven't watched the VMAs in a long time, but if Gaga's performance is buzzworthy enough, ROM could re-enter soon.

So true! Another example of a Pop star who could have been huge but got messed up by the label. Even Zara herself expressed that. It's interesting how Dua Lipa's team managed to have such a brilliant era for "Future Nostalgia" considering her first era was a low-key mess as well.

Ha, yeah, the difference in rollout/promotion between Dua's first two albums is like night and day. The overall aesthetic/vibe of the FN era is much more consistent too. Granted, things have gotten a teensy bit messy lately with "Hallucinate" and the "Levitating" remix both being singles at the same time, but I guess we can think of it like: "Hallucinate" = the 4th FN single, while the "Levitating" remix = the 1st Club Future Nostalgia single.

"Good In Bed" is my least favorite, too I like "Boys Will Be Boys" though, but it's kinda giving me similar vibes to "It's Nice To Have A Friend" of Taylor's "Lover" album. I like the song (a lot), but it seems a bit out of place on the album. I'm really excited for the remix album, because I obviously love me some Madonna or Gwen Stefani. Though remix albums usually never do something for me, not even Lady Gaga's remix album back in the days. What do you think about it?

How did "Who's Laughing Now" do on your chart in the end? I'm just so happy how she really managed to stay relevant because when "So Am I" was just a moderate hit, I was worried she'd be gone soon. We need those new Pop girls <3 While I kinda agree about her leaving singles out from the final tracklist, I'm still very happy as we get to hear more new songs this way.

Glad you enjoy "Funny" this much, because I usually really like Zedd and Jasmine. Not sure if you're familiar with Jasmine, but she has made my charts several times and even ended up #3 on the Year-End Charts 2015 with "Adore". Sadly, the song is way too repetitive for me and even got on my nerves very quickly.

Nice to see Ellie sticking around in your charts. The music video to Love I'm Given was released 2 days ago, so hopefully we can see it move from your Bubbling Under into your actual Singles Chart. It's definitely one of the highlights from her latest album and is performing significantly better than other album tracks on Spotify so it's a wise choice for them to finally pay it attention...hopefully not too late.

Yes, "Love I'm Given" will find its way to the main charts this week and she's definitely having a nice debut, as it's been a clear standout on "Brightest Blue" ever since I've heard it for the first time. Though I'm also worried it's already too late. A shame, this album deserved so much more!

Awww... so fingers crossed the whole album will still have something good to offer for you. Even though I enjoyed the first two singles, I got over them within 2-3 weeks. "Use My Voice" is the best of the three so far and could compete with their earlier stuff for me.

Exactly! It's like they went out of their way to make a point of disgracing poor FMO.

To be fair, they wanted to make "Blood, Sweat & Tears" her proper second single at first and released it alongside FMO. So them leaving those songs out from the album is probably just because they had no success on the official charts out there at all. Same with "On Somebody". They basically only included the songs that did something on some charts.

I haven't calcuated the exact point totals since doing my Mid-Year Update at the end of June, but I'm pretty sure YSBS is still slightly ahead of ROM (since it had a longer run). I haven't watched the VMAs in a long time, but if Gaga's performance is buzzworthy enough, ROM could re-enter soon.

Wow, congrats to Halsey then! Well deserved, of course. Also nice to hear ROM has a shot for topping your Year-End Charts! Also same when it comes to the VMAs, haven't followed them in ages but I keep voting for Gaga in all categories on a daily basis lately and I really look forward to her performance. Ha, yeah, the difference in rollout/promotion between Dua's first two albums is like night and day. The overall aesthetic/vibe of the FN era is much more consistent too. Granted, things have gotten a teensy bit messy lately with "Hallucinate" and the "Levitating" remix both being singles at the same time, but I guess we can think of it like: "Hallucinate" = the 4th FN single, while the "Levitating" remix = the 1st Club Future Nostalgia single.

Well, I don't mind the "double" release with "Hallucinate" and "Levitating" probably also because there were many "big" moments in the music scenes that were messy on paper but didn't feel messy at all. One that comes to my mind is Rihanna still releasing "Cheers" as the final "Loud" single alongside "Fly", a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and just a month prior releasing "We Found Love" as the lead single to "Talk That Talk". I know it's not the exact same situation, but it just came to my mind somehow

Last week was extremely busy and competitive, the #2 debut was surely fine especially as you say, she was up against Lindsey. Maybe I'm currently too biased with Lindsey, but it looks like she could release a fart as single and still is in the race for a #1 debut on My Charts with that Anyways, I'll post this week later today and there'll be a new #1

Where did it debut? "Midnight Sky" already sounded strong on the first spin but has grown on me even more through the week. What a strong single! And yes, I also hope another EP or full album is coming soon from her.

Singles Top40

Following one of the most busiest and most competitive week of the year, we’re back at a rather normal week when it comes to new entries, but still a very competitive one. There hasn’t been such a strong Top10 in a while and despite all that, the new number one still tops the charts rather easily as it was a clear frontrunner this week: Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus. The latest single by the songstress just made its debut at the runner-up spot a week ago, only to rise 2-1 this time, becoming Miley’s 16th number one single. Her biggest competition also was a clear runner-up this week, with Thelma And Louise by Anna Bergendahl rising 6-2. This makes Thelma And Louise tied with Anna’s Eurovision 2010 entry This Is My Life as her highest peaking chart entry ever.

The highest of five new entries completes the Top3 and that’s Love I’m Given by Ellie Goulding. The song already peaked at #2 on the Bubbling Under chart and stayed there for five weeks as an album track of Ellie’s latest album Brightest Blue, but following its music video release this week, the song moves onto the main list as an official single and debuts at #3. It’s already the sixth chart entry for a Brightest Blue single and second highest peaking one, only behind Flux (#1 in early 2019, down 21-35 this week).

Other new and re-entries this week: Clean Bandit are back! The band has had an extremely successful era with their second album What Is Love? between late 2016 and early 2019. It all started with Rockabye (#3, Gold), moved to Symphony (#1, Platinum and #1 on the Year-End Charts 2017) and spawned further hits with Disconnect (#1, Gold), I Miss You (#6, Gold), Solo (#1, Platinum) and Baby (#3, Gold), only to close the era with Mama (#7). The expectations for their new single called Tick Tock with Mabel and 24kGoldn were big and they surely didn’t disappoint, as the song is new at #6 with great potential for a higher peak in the future.

Norwegian singer Astrid S just fails to score a Top10 entry with her new single Marilyn Monroe as she’s new at #11, but it’s still her third highest peaking song out of seven chart entries in total, with only The First One (#3 in mid 2019, Gold) and Dance Dance Dance (#4 earlier this year) having higher peaks. Troye Sivan is back at #15 with Take Yourself Home following the release of his new EP In A Dream, not far above Iggy Azalea’s new single Dance Like Nobody’s Watching at #18, that is a collaboration with R&B songstress Tinashe. Madison Beer owns the final new entry of the week, as she arrives at #22 with Baby.

Other talking points this week: As mentioned, the top of the charts is still very competitive and so it’s less of a surprise to see Lindsey Stirling and Kiesza already falling 1-4 with What You’re Made Of. The former is also going down with her other two singles Between Twilight (20-25) and Sleepwalking (23-29), but Between Twilight gets certified with Gold this week. New in the Top10 is Dua Lipa, who jumps 12-5 with her Levitating remix featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott. This comes in a perfect week, as Hallucinate just has to leave the Top20 for its very first time (17-24). Also reaching the Top10 are Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, as their US Hot 100 #1 hit WAP is up 11-7. This marks Megan’s very first Top10 entry and Cardi’s fifth, with Bodak Yellow (#2), Finesse by Bruno Mars (#4) and Taki Taki by DJ Snake (#4) having peaked even higher. Staying in the Top10, but with not the best news, as Ava Max’ Who’s Laughing Now already drops 4-10. The singer also leaves the charts with Salt (ex #33) while Kings & Queens drops 19-28.

It’s been a great year for Drag Queens when it comes to charts performance, so it’s surely worth a mention that with Clapback falling 8-14, this is the first charts in a while without a song by a Drag Queen in the Top10. The real star of all Drag Queens is Blair St. Clair though, who is still in the Top20 as a feature on Jujubee’s Tonight Or Forever (14-20) plus she’s still charting with 9 Lives (28-31) and Space Between (31-34). Blair made the news when her single Empty became just the third song by a Drag Queen to chart for 10 or more weeks a few weeks ago, and with 9 Lives having reached that last week and with Space Between doing so this week, she’s the very first Queen with several songs staying this long on the charts. But there’s even more, as Space Between gets certified with Gold this week as the very first release by a Drag Queen reaching this milestone. Last but not least, The Chicks reach yet another new peak with March March (18-16) while Foxes still stays on the charts with Woman (37-38).

Dua Lipa, Madonna and Missy Elliott all own the biggest climber with Levitating this week, while Ellie Goulding’s Flux is the biggest loser.

Album Top20

From a very busy week with six new arrivals to a pretty normal week with three new arrivals, that all made the Top10 this week. However, none of those new albums is able to top Taylor Swift, who comfortably spends a fourth consecutive week atop the charts with Folklore. The album now becomes the third longest running number one album of 2020, breaking its tie with Grimes’ Miss Anthropocene (13-15). With Katy Perry finally releasing her new album Smile next week, there’s definitely a big threat coming and maybe we will see a new number one then. But as for now, Folklore is just one week behind Speak Now that spent five weeks at number one as Taylor Swift’s longest running number one album.

While Lindsey Stirling’s Artemis keeps rising up the charts (5-3), the Top3 is completed by the first of the three new arrivals, as Troye Sivan enters the charts at #2 with his new EP In A Dream. In A Dream becomes Troye’s fourth entry on the album charts following the Wild EP (#3 in 2015), Blue Neighbourhood (#4 in 2015) and Bloom (#2 in 2016, certified with Gold).

Other new and re-entries this week: The other two new arrivals just made the Top10 at #9 and #10. First one is Two Of A Kind at #9, a collaboration album by Anna Känzig and Tobey Lucas. While the latter is completely unknown to me, the former is a singer-songwriter from Switzerland who already scored an entry with Sound And Fury back in 2016 (#4, 8 weeks in the Top20). American Rock band The Killers are new at #10 with their sixth album Imploding The Mirage. Even though the band is known when it comes to huge charts success all around the world, Imploding The Mirage is their very first notation on the Album Top20. There’s also one re-entry on the charts this week as Lindsey Stirling’s Brave Enough celebrated its four years anniversary this week and comes back to #18 due to that.

Other talking points this week: Ellie Goulding’s Brightest Blue just spawned another hit on the Singles Top40 with Love I’m Given and stays stable in its sixth week (4-4). The album also gets certified with Gold this week. Beatrice Egli’s two albums are still back to back, but both fall a bit with Mini Schwiiz, mini Heimat being down 2-5 and BUNT - Best Of falling 3-6. Nightwish’s HUMAN. :||: NATURE. spends a 20th consecutive week in the Top10 (7-7), being the first album doing so since Lindsey Stirling’s already mentioned Artemis. Meanwhile, Drag Queens Jujubee and Blair St. Clair both have to leave the upper half with their Good Juju: Vol. 2 (8-11) and Identity (10-12), making this the first album charts in a while with no Drag Queen in the Top10. Last but not least, with Halestorm’s Reimagined EP (ex #12), Tori Kelly’s Solitude EP (ex #15) and RaeLynn’s Baytown EP (ex #16), all three EPs that were new entries a week ago already have to leave the charts this time.

The Bubbling Under chart is also rather normal this week, with some of the most successful albums of the week having some entries with their album tracks, but also some new releases that didn’t make it onto the Singles Top40 having some room to still appear somewhere. Not only the top two debuts, but the Top2 on the chart are both from the second category, as they’re both new singles that came out this week but just failed to make it into the main Top40. First up is K-Pop supergroup BTS and their new single Dynamite. The song is new at #1, making it their first appearance on the Bubbling Under chart and also their first #1 on any charts. Them missing out a debut on the Top40 isn’t the biggest surprise, as both releases from their last album Map Of The Soul: 7 also didn’t make it big, having peaked at #28 and #37.

No other than the legendary Mariah Carey owns the second highest new entry at #2. The songstress will release a new album called The Rarities soon, that will contain some gems from the past that never really saw the light of the day. Save The Day with the also legendary Lauryn Hill was released as the first single and makes an impact on the Bubbling Under chart for now.

Danish band Lukas Graham teamed up with G-Eazy for their new single Share The Love that is the third and final new entry at #9.

Taylor Swift still tops the Album Top20 and even though The Last Great American Dynasty (ex #6) and My Tears Ricochet (ex #10) have to leave the chart, she still has four entries with The 1 (1-3), Mad Woman (2-4), Seven (3-6) and August (4-7). Ellie Goulding had two entries left last week, but since one of them was Love I’m Given that moved onto the main list now, she just has one left with How Deep Is Too Deep (5-8). Lindsey Stirling makes the chart complete with Foreverglow (7-5) and the Amy Lee assisted Love Goes On And On (9-10).

Singles Top40

A new week, a new number one, as Tick Tock by Clean Bandit, Mabel and 24kGoldn jumps 6-1 following its arrival on the charts a week ago. This makes Tick Tock already Clean Bandit’s fourth top hit and the first for Mabel & 24kGoldn. Tick Tock also proves to be a successful comeback hit for Clean Bandit, as it’s the first song since moving on from their second album What Is Love? in early 2019 and also already becomes the 24th chart topper of the year so far. Miley Cyrus’ Midnight Sky (1-2) and Anna Bergendahl’s Thelma And Louise (2-3) just dip one spot each, completing the Top3.

There were a bunch of new releases this week and many of them make their arrival on the Singles Top40, but none of them came really close to being a competition for the top spot. The closest was Ice Cream, the new single by K-Pop phenomenon Blackpink and a collaboration with no other than Selena Gomez. The track debuts at #6 as the third chart entry for Blackpink, who previously peaked at #4 with Kill This Love in 2019 and at #2 with How You Like That earlier this year (37-Out this week). It’s also already Selena’s fifth chart entry in 2020 and considering she has been struggling a bit with her songs for two years, the arrival for Ice Cream is definitely a solid one.

Other new and re-entries this week: A total of seven new entries and one re-entry found their ways to the Singles Top40 this week. Following Ice Cream at #6, Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald owns the second highest new entry with her new single The Hudson arriving at #8. The song serves as the lead single to Amy’s upcoming fifth studio album The Human Demands and unless it won’t peak higher in the upcoming weeks, it may end up as the lead single to one of her regular studio albums with the lowest peak position by far. Amy’s previous lead singles were Mr. Rock & Roll (#2 in 2008, certified with Platinum), Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over (#1 in 2010), Slow It Down (#2 in 2012, Gold) and Dream On (#2 in 2017). US rapper Ty Dolla $ign seems to be on a roll, as he already gets a second chart entry as a lead artist within a few weeks. While he’s still charting with his Top10 hit Ego Death (30-35), the Nicki Minaj assisted Expensive enters the charts at #12. Overall, it’s Ty’s tenth chart notation, just second as a lead artist and fifth highest peaking one, and it’s also Nicki’s highest entry since Barbie Dreams peaked at #10 two years ago.

Next in line is Carrie Underwood and her new single Let There Be Peace. The Country singer will release her first Christmas album called My Gift in a month with Let There Be Peace being its lead single. Coincidentally, the track debuts at #15 as her 15th chart entry and it’s been exactly five years, so back in 2015, when Smoke Break debuted on the charts as her very first chart topper. Also arriving in the upper half is Scarlett BoBo, a contestant and finalist on Canada’s Drag Race, the Canadian version of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The original series has been a hit and was also responsible for several hit singles on the charts lately. The first season of Canada’s Drag Race started a few weeks ago and Scarlett BoBo is one of three contestants who just made it to the Grand Final this week. Her latest single Qu’est ce que **** debuts at #17 and makes her the first Canadian Queen to enter the Singles Top40. It’s expected to see another entry from the show next week, as the finalists will do a remix for one of RuPaul’s singles in the Final and those remixes usually do really well, like Clapback from the All Stars, Season 5 that scores a sixth week in the Top20 this time (14-19). Calvin Harris & The Weeknd teamed up on a new song called Over Now that’s new at #18. The seventh and final debut of the week goes to Kiesza. The singer gets her first entry from her current album Crave, as All Of The Feelings debuts at #36.

The re-entry goes to Katy Perry, as the singer is back at #23 with Harleys In Hawaii following the release of her new album Smile.

Other talking points this week: As already expected a few weeks back, The Chicks really score a surprise hit with March March, as the track just hit the Top20 for its first time two weeks ago and now it jumps 16-10, becoming the bands very first Top10 notation. Taylor Swift, who collaborated with The Chicks on her last album Lover, has a much worse week. It’s not that long ago when she scored two Top5 hits at once with Exile and Cardigan, but somehow, both songs have started to fall quicker than expected and now both even already leave the Top20, with Exile going down 12-21 and Cardigan dropping 19-30. Kygo & Kim Petras’ Broken Glass (13-20) and Zara Larsson’s Love Me Land (17-22) both also keep losing some spots, but both songs get certified with Gold this week. This makes Broken Glass the second Gold certified song for Kygo and for Kim Petras, as Kygo previously did it with the Rita Ora assisted Carry On (2019), while Kim Petras did it with Icy earlier this year. As for Zara, Love Me Land going Gold is a long awaited comeback to her strength, as her international debut album So Good spawned five certified singles and Love Me Land is her seventh chart notation ever since moving on from that album, but first to get certified.

The Chicks’ March March is the biggest climber while Iggy Azalea & Tinashe drop 18-39 with Dance Like Nobody’s Watching as the biggest losers of the week.

Album Top20

Katy Perry is back! The singer finally released her new studio album called Smile this week and also earns the highest new entry with it, as it immediately soars to #1. It’s her first release since Witness came out in mid 2017 and becomes her fifth chart entry to date, following Teenage Dream (#1, 2010), Teenage Dream - The Complete Confection (#2, 2012), Prism (#1, 2013) and the just mentioned Witness (#2). Smile is already the 16th number one album of 2020.

Lindsey Stirling celebrates her one year anniversary for her still current album Artemis this week, and the album even nearly topped the chart for an incredible 12th week as it’s up 3-2. From six chart entries on the Album Top20 so far, Artemis is already Lindsey’s fourth release to stay on the charts for one year or longer. She previously did it with her self-titled debut album Lindsey Stirling (101 weeks, debuted in 2013), her second album Shatter Me (61 weeks, debuted in 2014) and her third album Brave Enough (79 weeks, debuted in 2016). The violinist further charted with the live record Live From London (24 weeks, 2015) and the Christmas album Warmer In The Winter (35 weeks, 2017), bringing the amount of weeks all of her releases have spent on the album charts to an astonishing 352. This is huge, as no other artist has three or more albums with 52 or more weeks on the charts plus no other artist has charted for a total of 300 or more weeks so far.

The Top3 gets completed by the second highest new entry coming from American Rock band PVRIS - or more like former Rock band, as they moved away to a more Electropop kind of style. Their new album is called Use Me, debuts at #3 as their third chart entry and also becomes their highest charting album ever, as they previously peaked at #6 with All We Know Of Heaven… in 2017 and at #11 with the Hallucinations EP last year.

Other new and re-entries this week: Dua Lipa keeps being on a roll with her second studio album Future Nostalgia, as she keeps scoring Top10 hits on the Singles Top40 through that album. This week, she also gets another entry on the album charts following the release of Club Future Nostalgia, a remix album of her aforementioned second studio album. The album is credited under Dua Lipa & The Blessed Madonna and since it has a completely different vibe to it, it also ranks separately and debuts at #10 this week. Just missing out the upper half is American singer-songwriter Zella Day and her newly released EP Where Does The Devil Hide. With its arrival at #12, it becomes Zella’s second charts appearance following Kicker that debuted and peaked at #5 in mid 2015. Finally, Katy Perry not only has the highest new arrival and biggest album of the week with Smile, but the songstress also has a re-entry at #17 with Teenage Dream. Her second studio album is still considered her best and is still by far her most successful release to date. The album returns to the charts as it just celebrated its 10th years anniversary this week.

Other talking points this week: Even though Taylor Swift falls 1-4 with Folklore, the album gets certified with Gold this week. Kiesza seems to have a surprise hit in her hands, as her second studio album Crave jumps 13-7 for a new peak this week. The Chicks are also enjoying more success than initially expected and with March March just becoming a Top10 hit on the Singles Top40, their comeback album Gaslighter also enjoys a small boost (17-15). Last but not least, it’s kind of worrying how Lady Gaga’s Chromatica already drops 14-19 in its 14th week and unless a third single gets released soon, this may end up as her least successful proper studio album to date.

Bubbling Under

It’s a rather busy week on the Bubbling Under chart with seven new entries, two of them being new releases that didn’t make it to the Singles Top40 and the other five being album tracks from albums that do well on the Album Top20. The remaining three songs are also split into those two categories, with two of them being album tracks and the last one being a new release from a week ago that still hasn’t make it onto the main chart.

But first things first with the new number one coming from Katy Perry. While the singer has struggled to get a real hit on the Singles Top40 for a while and still has no Top20 entry during the album release week, she still hits the top spot with Smile on the Album Top20 and the new record also has some album tracks that really stand out. Not The End Of The World has taken the lead rather quickly and clearly, becoming Katy’s first chart topper on the Bubbling Under chart. The track gets joined by fellow Smile album tracks Cry About It Later at #2 and What Makes A Woman at #5.

Country singer Chris Stapleton has been huge in the US since the release of his debut album Traveller back in 2015. Two mini albums also proved to be very successful in 2017 and now he’s finally preparing the release of a new full length album with the lead single Starting Over. The song debuts at #3 this week.

Two further new entries go to Canadian singer Kiesza. The Hideaway singer has put out her second album called Crave already two weeks ago but somehow, it missed to make a real impact until this week. The album not only gets its first notation on the Singles Top40 and reaches a new peak on the Album Top20, but it also gets entries on the Bubbling Under chart with Can’t Be Save (#4) and Love Never Dies (#6).

The Disney classic Mulan is getting a live-action adaption that will be released next week. Christina Aguilera already sung a track called Reflection for the animated film from 1998 and has released a new version of the song that arrives at #7 now.

Lindsey Stirling is still charting with Foreverglow (5-8) and Love Goes On And On (10-10). The tenth and final song is BTS’ Dynamite. The track was close to enter the main chart a week ago and while it’s still not able to move into the Top40, it still has some impact and spends a second week on the Bubbling Under chart by falling 1-9.

A bit late this week, but fair enough, it also wasn’t the busiest week with a total of six new entries and two re-entries, though three of the new entries were actually already released two or more weeks ago. One of the completely newly released tracks makes it all the way to the top though, and that’s OMG What’s Happening by Ava Max. The singer has already released the next single of her upcoming debut album Heaven & Hell and gets her fifth top hit with it. It’s the follow-up to Who’s Laughing Now, that topped the charts for two weeks and dips 13-15 this time, and to Kings & Queens, that spent four weeks at #1 earlier this year and leaves the Top40 for its first time this week (ex #37). Salt (#1 in late 2019) and Alone, Pt. II with Alan Walker (#1 in the final week of 2019) are her other two chart toppers, making her one of the biggest hit makers of the past year. Overall, OMG What’s Happening becomes Ava Max‘ tenth chart entry since making her debut with Sweet But Psycho in late 2018.

Clean Bandit, Mabel & 24kGoldn’s Tick Tock (1-2) and Miley Cyrus‘ Midnight Sky (2-3) complete the Top3.

Other new and re-entries this week: French R&B singer Aya Nakamura has been quite a hit maker not only in her home country, but also in countries such as Belgium, Switzerland and Netherlands. Her latest single Jolie nana also proved to be a success from the get go and finally finds its way onto My Charts now, becoming Aya’s very first chart notation at #10 this week. Fellow R&B singer – but from the US – SZA also owns one of this weeks new entries, as her new single Hit Different featuring Ty Dolla $ign enters the charts at #23. That’s just one spot above People Are Strangers, a new entry for Zella Day. Zella has made an appearance with her new EP Where Does The Devil Hide on the Album Top20 a week ago and seems to have a Kiesza-esque success, as the EP already has more success this time while it’s usually the other way around. People Are Strangers immediately becomes Zella’s highest peaking entry ever, as she only entered the charts once so far with Hypnotic, that peaked at #29 in mid 2015. British singer Foxes is already back with a new song: Friends In The Corner. She’s slowly building her third era up and while the first single Love Not Loving You only did a short appearance (39-Out), the second track called Woman did slightly better (30-40-37-38-Out) and Friends In The Corner enters the charts at #26 now. This marks her tenth chart entry to date. Last but not least, K-Pop superstars BTS get a delayed chart entry as Dynamite finally moves from the Bubbling Under list onto the main chart by arriving at #37.

Lady Gaga finally had a proper promo slot for her Chromatica era, as she performed a medley at the MTV Video Music Awards a bit over a week ago. Since performances like that are rare at the moment and Chromatica being one of the most successful albums of the year so far, the performance also has a huge effect on My Charts. First, Rain On Me jumps back into the Top10 (32-9), second, the album’s lead single Stupid Love re-enters the charts at #29. The second re-entry of the week goes to Nightwish, who are back at #33 with How’s The Heart? – mostly because their album Human. :||: Nature. got more attention again due to it being a rather busy week. Their lead single also benefits from that, as Noise is back up 24-17.

Other talking points this week: Scarlett BoBo just missed to be crowned the first winner of Canada’s Drag Race on Friday, but still has the biggest Drag Race hit of the week as Qu’est ce que **** jumps 17-4. The three finalists of the show – Rita Baga, Scarlett BoBo and winner Priyanka – all performed a new remix of RuPaul’s track U Wear It Well that could have been an easy top debut this week, but the song hasn’t been released to iTunes, streaming services or YouTube until the cut for this weeks charts, which is why it hasn’t appeared so far. Even though Katy Perry already loses her top spot on the Album Top20 with Smile, the track Harleys In Hawaii still manages to get back into the Top20 (23-19). Last but not least, just two weeks following the very first Gold certified single by a Drag Queen ever, Blair St. Clair already earns her second certification as 9 Lives goes Gold (34-38). This solidifies her status as the most successful Drag Queen on My Charts to date.

Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande’s Rain On Me is the obvious biggest climber this week, meanwhile, there were several big drops such as for Amy MacDonald’s The Hudson (8-21) or Taylor Swift & Bon Iver’s Exile (21-31), but Astrid S owns the biggest loser of the week as Marilyn Monroe tumbles down 16-39.

Album Top20

Spoiler!

Three new releases made the Album Top20 this week, but none of them were really competitive and one even misses the Top10. But first things first with Nightwish, who top the charts with their latest album Human. :||: Nature. this week (6-1). The Finnish Symphonic Metal band hasn’t really done anything that may explain this sudden jump back up the charts, but the album has been really steady ever since it came out and it was in the battle for the top spot in several rather quiet weeks since then, so it just happened to be better than all others this week. The set scores a sixth week at #1, still being the second longest running number one album of the year.

And speaking of the longest running number one albums of the year, Chromatica by Lady Gaga still owns that title as it spent its first seven weeks atop the charts. As big as it was during its first few weeks, the album has fallen rather quickly in the last few weeks but Lady Gaga’s appearance at this years MTV Music Video Awards helped a lot to bring Chromatica back up the charts, as the album jumps 19-3 this week.

Katy Perry’s Smile dips 1-2 to complete the Top3.

New entries this week: Hurts are back with a new album called Faith. The album enters the charts at #4, making it their second highest peaking chart entry ever. The duo already collected three previous entries on the Album Top20 with Exile (#2 in 2013), Surrender (#7 in 2015) and Desire (#6 in 2017), with the first one still being their biggest success going by charts points. Country singer Lauren Alaina has the second highest new arrival with her Getting Over Him EP at #9. It’s her second chart appearance following Road Less Traveled that peaked at #2 in early 2017. Swiss singer-songwriter Sophie Hunger owns the third and final debut of the week, as her new album Halluzinationen starts at #11. It’s her first entry without a Top10 placement so far, as she previously peaked at #4 with Supermoon in 2016 and at #6 with Molecules in 2018.

Other talking points this week: Lindsey Stirling is on her way back down as Artemis falls 2-5, but there’s still a huge reason for the violinist to celebrate this week: The album gets certified with 4x Platinum! This is an incredible mark and already her third release doing so following her self-titled debut album and her third album Brave Enough. Her debut album is still her biggest success and currently certified with 5x Platinum, but considering how well Artemis is doing, it’s surely not out of reach for it to reach that summit as well. Kiesza gets a new peak as Crave is up 7-6, tying the peak of her debut album Sound Of A Woman. Zella Day also reaches a new peak as her Where Does The Devil Hide EP is up 12-10.
