  • good to see "Evolve" finally reaching the top of the charts, their best album so far IMO.

i recently updated my "decade to date" album charts as "evovle" dropped off my weekly charts and it's in the Top 20 and the highest charting album by a band (or male artist). it was definitely a highlight of 2017 for me.

Have to check out this "Thick Lips" song, interesting comments on it... I'm prepared to hear something horrible though.

It seems the ESC collection is doing worse this year than the years before, or am I wrong (too lazy to go back and check)? I did my traditional "blind" listening of all the entries today; hadn't heard any of the songs before except the Swedish one. Although I was able to figure one out from seeing the title here before (it drops off your chart this week). I'm actually listening to one of the entries on repeat right now, still haven't checked country/artist/title but this song is a true standout not just by how much I like it but in style compared to the others. If you reply to this comment don't tell me which one it is though! I plan to wait up to a week before I check. (Only after that will I start checking and commenting in the ESC threads.)

Edit: I realized while listening to the ESC entries how cool it would be if all of my hearing new songs for the first time was "blind", so now that I will no longer be posting my weekly chart here I am seriously thinking about spending a week programming an "AI" that will find the new songs I'm likely to like, replace artist and title with just an id number and also take care of the stuff I now have to do manually (such as registering the songs in my database) so that I can just hit play on my phone when I'm out walking. Then I can have weeks of "unbiased" listening before the identity is revealed, and the stuff I don't like I could even delete without ever knowing what it was. This might be the (only?) thing that will revive my interest in new music.
I'm having a similar feeling, but with a few more spins i have to say "Cry Pretty" is definitely not a weak song. I still expected more from her and i hope the next one will be better.

It is horrible But a huge guilty pleasure for me at the moment

No, you’re absolutely right when it comes tot he ESC compilation. So far, I’m not into ESC at all. However, I still ordered the physical CD as well and try to get more into the tracks later today. 2018 is the first compilation of the contest to not debut inside the Top3, so going down 5-7 in its second week is pretty bad. Though I have to say that there are currently quite a lot albums out which I enjoy a lot, so the competition also seems bigger than usual in this time of the year.

Also, I also only listened to them ‘blind’ except a few entries which I already heard previously and therefor also appeared on my charts in the past few weeks (won’t write the names now ). But there was a Playlist on Apple Music and you can’t see the name of the countries there, so I listened to the entries that way. Maybe the compilation will do better once I know which song belongs to which country. It’s actually way more interesting that way… I’m already excited to find out which song belongs to which country!

Oh this sounds very interesting. Well, the part with listening to tracks blind, not the one with stopping your charts on here. But I already read that you will stop with it on your charts last week, have to comment there soon
I can really see that this may make things way more interesting… I don’t know how biased you are, but personally I’m always quite biased towards a few artists (in both directions though) so doing it that way may be a cool thing to do…

I'm a little surprised to not see Golden from Kylie really clicking with you much. Not even to see 1 song make a bit of a dent on your chart apart from Dancing's small traction.

I would of expected Cardi B to debut high on the album charts, however to remain consistent the week after I did not (i expected it to fall quite harshly).

But at least you're keeping me on my toes!!!

Carrie's song Cry Pretty debuting @ #1 is also a suprise (this time in a nice way ).

+ I LOVEEEEEE the Imagine Dragons re-enter with Whatever It Takes
        Hahaha

Well, I really have to admit that Kylie never really got my attention. “Golden” is only the second album from hers that I fully checked out, with the first being “Kiss Me Once”, and that one made a very bad performance on my charts (#11 peak), so “Golden” is already a success for her here
As for the singles, I think they’re a bit too simple and I would love if she releases “Golden” or “Rollin’”, they’re the two highlights for me so far.

That’s an album I’m surprised by myself, as I never expected it to enjoy so much! Could be my urban highlight of 2018

Glad to hear that about Carrie. Same for Imagine Dragons <3

I agree! But we already talked about that on my YEC charts and I’m glad there are a few people who think that way

Wow, this is really impressive Definitely well deserved!

Ah yeah, I’m very happy to have the freedom to visit UKMix at work as well so I’m often doing stuff here while I’m at work, and don’t even do that many things at home. Otherwise I wouldn’t be as active as I am now.

Oh wow, this actually happens with me as well. Well, in ‘normal’ playthroughs of course. But if one of my team member dies, I’m always feeling less connected, and actually also feel so sorry for it It’s interesting how one connects with the own team so much. No, Lavender Town was no problem at all. But I completely forgot the storyline so at first I forgot that I need to visit Celadon City first before doing Lavender Town. Also, I completely forgot how to pick up a bike so I only got it now

True about the moves, that’s probably the only negative thing about the first gens. At least to me, as the graphics never bothered me and I still love the storyline. Yes! I still remember how much Razor Leaf slayed back when I played the first gen for the first few times and with later gens I was always disappointed that it’s not even that strong
Ha, yeah, that makes perfect sense: UKMIX can be quite nice for killing time/a fun distraction at work - but at home, where's there's so many other options for leisure activities (including just lounging around), it has a hard time keeping my focus for long.

Damn, all that walking around Kanto without the bike must've felt so sluggish I often forget that we didn't have the option to run until Gen III! I hear you with the old graphics. A big part of the fun of revisiting the older games is seeing all those classic attack animations again!

But I’m liking that sound, she’s doing a great job and critics also love it a lot. I hope it’s the latter for you, a grower
Hmmm...I wouldn't say "happy" necessarily, but her songs that I did know/loved the most were more...sassy, snarky almost? They had a bit of a bite/attitude to them (like "High Horse"). Good to know that even if "Dancing" had never re-entered, it still wouldn't have held that unfortunate record. Phew! @ "Hello Kitty" being among the fastest-falling No. 2's ever! It's actually one of my fastest-falling No. 1's ever: *1* - 12 - OUT - 6 - OUT

Yeah, I'm not surprised that it didn't become another "Slow Hands" for him, but I'm surprised that it did SO much worse than the first three singles, especially in places like the UK (where the first three all went Top 30, then it hit No. 94) and Australia (where the first three all went Top 20, then it didn't even chart). :x

          • "Cry Pretty" hasn't really hooked me yet - but I'm liking it more than "The Champion," at least!
          • Lovin' that massive concert effect! Looks like it still couldn't truly redeem "Next To Me," though Did anyone join you at this show? (Did Dan lose his shirt at any point...?)
          • So the "Alone" video effect ends up being...it dropping out of the Top 20.
          • I'm pretty pleased with "Let Me," but it's a tad too mellow/laid-back to really stand out from all the other music that's grabbing my attention lately (like Golden and Golden Hour).

Definitely! Also, I have to admit that I’m probably a little bit too obsessed with UKMix so I couldn’t live without it the whole day anyway But yeah, it’s something different when being at home. I think it also depends on the job – I’m usually at the computer the whole day so I’m happier when I don’t need to be on the computer or phone for too long when I’m at home.

            It wasn’t even that bad

It depends. He doesn’t go out that often anymore but if he does, he doesn’t say no to a few drinks.

I prefer being the big spoon, don’t like being the little one. But there are also other ways to cuddle, like something similar to a hug, and there I enjoy being the ‘little’ one, if that makes sense What about you?

Yeah, Kylie was lucky there Oh wow, what a coincidence! I guess the video had an amazing first week effect on both of us? Or was the video effect the re-entry at #6 and the album release pushed it to #1 on your charts?
Looking back I think it actually didn’t deserve to fall so fast on my charts…

To be fair, “Too Much To Ask” already was a big flop, wasn’t it? I think it only peaked high in the first week but had no longevity at all, at least from what I remember. It basically had the usual One Direction-boost in the first week like all members who tend to debut high, but once the fanbase bought their stuff the tracks fall down fast if they don’t click with the general public. And on “On The Loose”, the fanbase already had it through the album…

Oh that’s good to hear! “Cry Pretty” is definitely not her best work and my expectations were so big, especially after the amazing “Storyteller”, and she didn’t reach them with that song, but it’s still good for what it is and I hope it does well for her.

Glad you love that concert effect! “Next To Me” is a cute ballad and the performance was quite good, though it’s definitely one of their weakest singles ever…
Yes, my mom joined me. And… believe it or not, but I was hoping to see him shirtless and… he was shirtless for around 2/3 of the night He only had something on for the first few songs and put it off afterwards… definitely a highlight of the night

I’m simply over Halsey at the moment. I played the album so much last year. Even “Strangers” wouldn’t be a big hit if it’s getting released right now…

Kinda agree on “Let Me”. It’s in a similar category like Drake’s tracks lately for example. Okay to listen to but nothing more…

            Thank you

            • Oh, Kylie's new album is urban? Guess I won't even have to think about checking it out then (maybe just that "Raining Glitter" song...). I like her stuff from the '80s (although not quite as much as I did a long time ago) but could never get into her later stuff, except the odd song or two. (The word "urban" also just makes me think of Urban Bäckström, former Swedish central bank governor .)

Interesting. Yeah, in this case it would still be pretty "blind" even when knowing the artists and titles, because most artists are unknown to us anyway. Don't really know why I hide the titles too, been doing this since 2005 (or was it 2004?) so haven't thought about it, probably because it was technically easier that way.

I have found more songs I like; probably enough that I will rate this ESC year as stronger than 2014-2016, although this may change when I see the performances. One of my new favourites has lyrics in French and no other entry has so I assume it's France's entry, although of course it could be Belgium or Switzerland (or even Austria ). Another one is the song that already had success on your chart, "Monsters" (especially like her voice in the beginning), and two more I can't guess which country they belong to, possible titles are "Come and Take Me" (or "Lost and Found", or "Go Deeper") and "Higher Ground" (or "Freeze the Arrow"). Rarely have I been able to correctly guess the countries, or guesses I was pretty sure about turned out completely wrong (for example, in 2013 I thought Moldova was Italy...). I've gotten better at identifying the languages (for example telling Slovene apart from Croatian/Serbian) but that doesn't help much when so many songs are in English.

I'm also curious to find out more about the song that was truly, absolutely super annoying, possibly one of the ten worst songs I've ever heard. Thankfully right now I don't even remember any of the lyrics. And of course it will be interesting to see which your favourites are (in addition to"Monsters")!

I've had this idea before, but apart from being technically quite difficult (that's why I predict it will take an entire week, which probably means it will end up taking at least three weeks...) it was also "incompatible" with posting my chart here because how could I post it if I don't even know the artists and titles... I'm not saying this is the main reason I decided to stop but it has some small part in it. Right now the weather is way too nice and I'm also too caught up in something else (trying to make some money...) so I guess it won't happen until autumn. Maybe I will test with a "half-blind" variant, where I still have to add the songs manually but the title and artist info is then removed; this way I will remember some songs but most likely not all. This sort of already happened in the past when I had added a lot of songs and then listened in the kitchen or somewhere else where I couldn't see the info about the song. For example, I think I listened at least ten times to "Next Boyfriend" before checking/realizing it was Lauren Alaina. And of course a long long long time ago when I heard songs on the radio and they weren't always announced afterwards. (I still have a few totally unidentified songs in my database, including one among the top 1000 most played!)

What? Nooo… Kylie’s new album is pop with a little bit of country influence. I guess you’re asking because of my reply to Summer’s post? The part with ‘urban album of the year’ belonged to Cardi B.

It probably also depends on how much someone follows the whole contest. This year, I didn’t bother that much about following the pre-selections, the updates on Facebook & Co., which is why I’m not familiar with the artists, song titles and to which country they belong to.

Ah that’s nice to hear. So far, there’s a chance that this year may be better than 2017 for me, but 2012-2016 will be difficult to beat as I loved them so much and still see them as my favorite years. Haha, yeah, since Austria went with a song in French I guess it could be every country which tries it out, since Zoe was so successful last year. [edit: Oh wait, that was already in 2016! Only shows how fast I already forgot about last year ]
I’m glad to hear that “Monsters” seems to be one of your favorite ones so far – if it’s really that one, of course! As for the others, I have no idea… I’m absolutely not familiar with the song titles so far except a very few songs.
Speaking about language… it depends. Since so many tracks are in English it makes it more interesting to listen to them blindly and don’t know which song belongs to which country, as otherwise it would be much easier to guess…

I think I know which song you could mean as there’s one which people either love or absolutely hate. I quite like it, if it’s really that one…

Ah sounds good. So I hope you will find the time to try this out and I also hope that it works out for you and you’ll get your interest in music back, as that’s you thought behind all of this if I understood you correctly?! The last sentence with the radio is actually a good one, because back in the days that was the usual way to discover new songs and artists, and usually you didn’t know who it was. You only heard the song, liked or disliked it and afterwards you found out who it was. And if it was an amazing song by someone you were already familiar with, you were like ‘ohh that’s him/her!’. It really made things more… interesting? Today it has become so easy to check everything out you want, and you’re biased towards an artist so fast. If someone disliked a song by an artist, it’s already pretty clear they won’t check that artist out more. At least that’s how I perceive it.

My Charts - week 17/2018 - 26 april 2018 - No Tears for My Indigo
                    .
                    • Singles Top40

[spoiler:1v1lj84k]Following a drought when it comes to obvious number one songs, this week it was as obvious as it wasn’t for a very long time. The number one often was quite lucky in the last few weeks, as despite many new entries and concerts effects bringing lots of action to the Top40, there still wasn’t one song which really stood out and it was quite easy to grab the top spot. But last Friday, Ariana Grande finally released the lead track to her upcoming fourth studio album, and it got the best start in a very long time. With 117 plays since its release, “No Tears Left To Cry” not only has the biggest plays in a single week this year, but also already becomes the fifth most played track of the year so far! As for Ariana, “No Tears Left To Cry” is her 24th chart entry in slightly more than five years, as she made her debut five years and three weeks ago with “The Way”, which also debuted atop the charts. In total, Ariana has collected 11 number one hits, including “No Tears”, and all of her chart entries made the Top10 so far, with the 3x Platinum certified “Break Free” being her biggest hit to date.

Last Friday not only saw the release of a huge highlight for the Singles Top40, but also one for the Album Top20, as Within Temptation frontwoman Sharon den Adel finally released her solo debut album “My Indigo” under her artist name ‘My Indigo’. The album already spawned three hits, with all of them having a fantastic week this time, as the current release “Crash And Burn” jumps 22-2, “My Indigo” re-enters the charts at #3 and the former top hit “Out Of The Darkness” makes it back to #13.

Other new and re-entries this week: A week before releasing her debut album, Anne-Marie has released a new song called “2002” which debuts at #12. It’s her seventh entry in the Top40. Former One Direction member Liam Payne gets his fifth entry as “Familiar” with latin star J Balvin arrives at #27. Kylie Minogue’s “Stop Me From Falling” makes a little comeback at #30 due to the release of a new remix. American Country singer Ashley Monroe gets her very first notation as “Hands On You” is new at #36. Last but not least, it seems to become normal to have a debut at #40 every week lately as there’s yet another one this time, as former Australian X-Factor winner Samantha Jade barely sneaks in with “Best Of My Love”. She collected a moderate hit with “Firestarter” back in 2013, which peaked at #17 but was able to stay on the charts for 11 weeks.

Other talking points this week: Marshmello’s and Anne-Marie’s “Friends” becomes the very first song of 2018 which goes Platinum, as it still stays inside the Top10 in it eleventh week (7-6). There are another two certifications as Imagine Dragons’ “Believer” (5-10) and Auri’s “The Space Between” (6-11) both go Gold.

My Indigo’s “Crash And Burn” is the biggest climber while the title for the biggest loser is shared by Imagine Dragons’ “Gold” (24-35) and Halsey & Co.’s “Alone” (26-37).

My Charts - week 17/2018 - 26 april 2018 - No Tears for My Indigo
                      .
                      • Album Top20

[spoiler:d5znzhkf]Sometimes, a number one is very predictable. This week, the number one album is a new entry and one of the most predictable ones in a long time, as it got announced months ago, already spawned three songs which all made the Top2 on the Singles Top40 and it’s by an artist who is the singer of my second most favorite band ever: Sharon den Adel, the frontwoman of Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation. The singer has finally released her solo debut album called “My Indigo” under her artist name ‘My Indigo’, and the set makes a very easy start atop the charts this week. “My Indigo” gathered over 270 plays since its release and with over 360 plays in total (including pre-release plays through the singles), it’s already the seventh most played album of the year after just a week. And the best thing is that a new album by Within Temptation is also expected to be released later this year.

Imagine Dragons are still going on strong, not only on the singles charts but also on the album charts, with “Evolve” only slipping 1-2 and even going Platinum this week. Their other albums already fall a lot though, as “Night Visions” is down 11-20 and “Smoke + Mirrors” leaves the Top20.

Apart from the top album, there are another two new arrivals and both of them never appeared on my album charts so far. American country singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe has released her fourth studio album called “Sparrow”, which is the follow-up to her highly critically acclaimed album “The Blade”. The set makes its start at #8. The other one is “Best Of My Life”, the third studio album by Australian X-Factor winner Samantha Jade, which makes a moderate entry at #10. It most likely will fare similar to “I Hear A Song”, the latest album by fellow Australian X-Factor winner Dami Im, which entered the charts at #12 a few weeks ago and was able to stay in the Top20 for just one week.

Other talking points this week: “Invasion Of Privacy” by Cardi B (2-3), “Treehouse” by Sofi Tukker (4-4), the compilation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 (7-5) and Pentatonix’ “PTX Presents: Top Pop, Vol. I” (5-6) are all staying really stable in the upper half. Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish get their seventh certified album as “Decades” goes Gold this week (12-13). Last but not least, the new single release by Ariana Grande also boosts her two last studio albums as “Dangerous Woman” is back at #16 while “My Everything” re-enters the charts at #17.

                        • Hi Tansike

First of all yay at the new layout. I suspect you've contemplated this for a while as i remember your poll. Nonetheless, its the chart that counts. <3

1 (NEW) Ariana Grande – No Tears Left To Cry

...and what an amazing #1 to co-incide with the new look. I truly believe that Ariana's new album is going to be one of the years biggest selling albums and No tears left to cry is the perfect song choice to lead the album. I'm disappointed that this couldn't get to #1 in the UK as Ariana seems to have gone #1 in quite a few countries this week. I will be very interested in hearing what else Ariana has to offer this era but right now i'm loving this track.

                          5 (4) Imagine Dragons – Radioactive *P*
                          8 (2) Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes *G*
                          10 (5) Imagine Dragons – Believer *G*
                          24 (23) Imagine Dragons – Thunder
                          31 (27) Imagine Dragons – Warriors

Gosh So i have to ask how was the concert? I thought Imagine Dragons were super cool when they first emerged and i loved Radioactive so its great to see that track the highest. For me they've never bettered that song which is a shame considering it was their breakthrough single. I do think its very impressive how they managed to overcome a period of minor success and then comeback strong last year even if those singles didn't quite appeal to me.

                          12 (NEW) Anne-Marie – 2002

Aww, i know you adore Anne-Marie and i will admit her storytelling way of singing is very unique to her style. But i do think having a song that name checks songs like Baby one more time, 99 problems and Bye bye bye is really lazy. These are like iconic song titles that took on lives of their own. It might still grow on me but sadly after my first play i was left underwhelmed.

                          27 (NEW) Liam Payne & J Balvin – Familiar

Hmm i'm still not fully sold on this. I get the impression Liam is just desperate to get another chart hit but these songs won't do him justice in the long run. These types of songs will become very much of their time and i doubt Liam's solo hits will be fondly remembered in years from now.

30 (RE) Kylie Minogue – Stop Me From Falling

Nice to see Kylie returning. Is this down to the Gente De Zona remix? I do love the music video that was released last week.

                          • "Crash and Burn" is beautiful! I just added it to my Spotify library. Ariana's new song, though, is just okay for me. I know she's capable of much better, and expect the next single to be more on the level of "Into You". Similarly, "Familiar", whilst cute, isn't outstanding.

So have you cycled your way over to the Elite Four yet?

I prefer being the big spoon, don’t like being the little one. But there are also other ways to cuddle, like something similar to a hug, and there I enjoy being the ‘little’ one, if that makes sense What about you?
Ah, so you've gotta stay the sober one in order to keep an eye on him, eh? ;)

You'll have to demonstrate exactly what you mean for me sometime ;) I can enjoy both positions, just depends on my mood. There's something really warm and comforting about being embraced as the little spoon...but when you're the big spoon, you get much easier access for groping the other person.

On one hand, the No. 3 debut on the Hot 100 is really awesome/exciting...but it's more than a little annoying/baffling that "God's Plan" can STILL chart even higher in its 14th week! :x

"Biscuits" is another of my absolute favorites from Kacey, but it's basically an attempt to re-create "Follow Your Arrow," and doesn't QUITE live up to that high standard for me. It's a slightly weaker (but still really enjoyable) re-hash...or maybe I should say "sister song."

Or was the video effect the re-entry at #6 and the album release pushed it to #1 on your charts? Looking back I think it actually didn’t deserve to fall so fast on my charts…
Yup, that's it! Eh, I don't think you should feel TOO bad about its fast fall The song has its quirky catchiness, but it does get pretty annoying pretty quickly. A great example of a track with VERY high burn rate.

It basically had the usual One Direction-boost in the first week like all members who tend to debut high, but once the fanbase bought their stuff the tracks fall down fast if they don’t click with the general public. And on “On The Loose”, the fanbase already had it through the album…
Ha, you really won't budge on "On The Loose"s total floppge being at all surprising, eh? "Too Much To Ask" definitely hurt his momentum after "Slow Hands," but it didn't just peak and plummet either (at least not in the UK): *24* - 39 - 42 - 50 - 36 - 27 - 32 - 35 - 43 - 72 - OUT. "On The Loose" is also much catchier than "Too Much To Ask," so that could've/should've worked in its favor (at least somewhat). I do agree with you in the sense that it wasn't shocking that "On The Loose" wasn't a huge hit, but I was caught off-guard by just how badly it actually performed (basically everywhere).

                              • Obvious indeed, but still a FANTASTIC No. 1 to see! And with 117 plays in one week? Were you spamming it for your whole office to hear all day every day? (If so, right on!) My most-played song of 2018 only has 104 plays so far I actually wasn't too sure about "No Tears..." after just one listen, but that "I'm pickin' it up" part stuck in my head pretty quickly, and I love the video! It reminds me of those CGI-heavy, futuristic-looking videos from the late-90's/early-00's ("Spice Up Your Life," "Larger Than Life," "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," etc.)
                              • "Familiar" is probably...definitely...my least favorite of Liam's solo offerings so far Excited for that video, though...
                              • Lovin' the re-entry for "Stop Me From Falling." Is that thanks to the new version+video?
                              • I'm not too interested in Samantha Jade's new cover album, but "Roller Skates" is really cute! It's a shame that we don't get more original stuff from her, since she's served up some really satisfying pop ("Firestarter", "Sweet Talk," "Always," etc.)

Yet another chart that brings tears of joy, Tansike!

                                  Hey Jake

Well, every now and then I tried out something new but there never was something which was good enough for me. The changes aren’t that big but I think it works well that way. Time will tell if this ends up better than the previous solution…

...and what an amazing #1 to co-incide with the new look.
YAS! I love how you, phoenix and me are all having the same #1 <3 Ariana really slayed with this release and I also hope that “Sweetener” is going to be a big success for her. She actually missed the #1 in many territories in the end, for example all German-speaking countries (she was #1 in the midweeks in Germany but ended up #2). So she had many #2/#3 debuts but barely a #1. I also thought she could get it in the UK which would have been VERY well deserved, but in the end “One Kiss” was simply too strong. At least she got beaten by a good song and not by a Drake tune

It was amazing! Seriously, it exceeded all of my expectations as it was much better than I ever thought it would be. Dan is such a great singer and I love his personality… and the icing on the cake was that he was shirtless for 2/3 of the concert Have to agree when it comes to “Radioactive” still being their best song. I imagine it must be tough for them to have such an awesome breakthrough single, it’s nearly impossible to ever top that down, but I’m glad they got back to success with the “Evolve” album. A shame they didn’t appeal to you though.

The idea behind this is cute and I can see why they did it, but yeah, the result isn’t the best one. I still enjoy “2002” a lot though and she’s lucky to have released this just when the album came out, so the hype is even bigger. As much as I love Anne-Marie and I like this track it’s still a shock how well this is doing in the UK for me nonetheless!

Hmm i'm still not fully sold on this. I get the impression Liam is just desperate to get another chart hit but these songs won't do him justice in the long run. These types of songs will become very much of their time and i doubt Liam's solo hits will be fondly remembered in years from now.
Agree… but it’s nice to listen to

Yes, it’s due to the new remix, but I still prefer the original which is why I didn’t credit Gente De Zona.

I know she's capable of much better, and expect the next single to be more on the level of "Into You". Similarly, "Familiar", whilst cute, isn't outstanding.

No, not yet. I didn’t play that much in the last 1-2 weeks to be honest, so I’m not much further. I just entered the Fuchsia Gym so I’m about to get my fifth badge. I just spoiled myself and looked at the levels in the gym and now I’m slightly nervous though, as mine are 32/32/32/34/34/36 soooo it may get tougher than I expected at first. Maybe i should level up my team a bit more at first and evolve the rest of them, as the kanto starters are all level 32, Butterfree & Pidgeotto are the ones level 34 and Pikachu is 36 so three of them are yet to evolve and they're not that far away...

You'll have to demonstrate exactly what you mean for me sometime ;) I can enjoy both positions, just depends on my mood. There's something really warm and comforting about being embraced as the little spoon...but when you're the big spoon, you get much easier access for groping the other person.
Well, I have to stay the sober one because I’m the one who drives But I don’t like that. I mean, if I/we go out, I’d like to have a drink or two as well… it’s not that funny if I have to stay sober and he/other doesn’t, especially when I’m not going out that often

Yeah definitely. Somehow I don’t like to be the little spoon because I feel too cramped that way.

True. And all due to streams. But to be fair, the US is at least also a country which still buys his songs, while in others “God’s Plan” is solely smashing on streams which is even more frustrating to me. And now it looks like Post Malone’s next as he’s having his whole album high in the Spotify charts
Thank god Ariana’s is doing well on iTunes AND on Spotify… the #3 debut is more than deserved, but if this would have been released like two or three years ago it would have made a #1 debut I think.

Hmm… I get what you mean and I agree, as that was also why it fell so fast on my charts, but from all tracks on the album it’s basically the only one which still appears in my mind every now and then, so I would say it made the biggest impact on me and therefor it should have been more successful on my charts.

Thanks for posting that chartrun – I didn’t know “Too Much To Ask” had such a nice run in the UK. I really thought it fell down much more in the second week and failed to rebound, but it didn’t even fall that much and even re-entered the Top30, which is awesome to see! A shame how “On The Loose” really did nothing, also because if it would have been a hit, they could have released another single and that should have been “Seeing Blind”…

I love how you, Jake and me are sharing the same #1 <3 I was listening to it everywhere, also had it on replay in my car. Ah well, 104 plays is still a lot. It also depends on how often you listen to music, and I have to chance to listen to my music at work and in the car (through Bluetooth) so it’s ‘easy’ to get many plays for a song. Many plays for “No Tears” even got deleted as there’s often a glitch on my LastFM. My most played song of the year has 235 plays (“Across The Sea” by Leaves’ Eyes), followed by “Night 13” by Auri with 201 plays while Ariana is now third with 149 plays – I didn’t sync the last two days though, so Ari may have more now.
I’m glad to hear it grew on you after more spins. Funny thing is that at first, the ‘I’m pickin it up’ part irritated me and I didn’t like it, but it’s the part that got stuck in my head immediately and in the end, it ended up to be the reason why I played it again and again on the first day. Also glad to hear you’re loving the video too – I just watched the BTS videos yesterday and it looked like a lot of work

+1 to the vid, but overall the song is just okay to me. His solo career is shaping up to be quite disappointing…

Yes, it’s due to the new remix and video. Though the song itself is still far away from Kylie’s best ones.

Agree about Samantha Jade. I LOVED “Firestarter” and she could have built an amazing pop career on that, a shame how her career went on from that part on…

                                      Thanks a lot

                                          • Singles Top40

[spoiler:1ojw4os4]Ariana Grande spends a second week atop the charts with “No Tears Left To Cry”. It becomes just the fourth song with multiple weeks at number one this year, following Marshmello & Anne-Marie’s “Friends” with two weeks and “Across The Sea” by Leaves’ Eyes & “The Space Between” by Auri with three weeks each. Speaking about “Friends”… the track climbs back up 6-2 in its 12th charting week, with all of them being inside the Top7 so far. The song got another boost due to the release of Anne-Marie’s debut album “Speak Your Mind”, which also had some other influences into this weeks Singles Top40. Her latest single “2002” climbs 12-7 to become her fifth Top10 hit, while “Then” (#30) and “Ciao Adios” (#38) are both able to re-enter the Top40. There’s a final appearance for the British singer as “Alarm” enters the charts at #15 as a new entry. The song originally got released back in 2016 but failed to debut so far.

With “Monsters” by Saara Aalto, “We Got Love” by Jessica Mauboy and “Toy” by Netta, three songs of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2018 made a rather early entry on my charts this year, however, most of them already disappeared rather fast and since then it remained quiet about this years contest. However, with the contest approaching fast – it already happens next week – there are finally more entries appearing on the charts now. Estonia gets the highest entry this week, as Elina Nechayeva enters the charts at #3 with “La forza”. With this, it immediately ties Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street” from 2011 as Estonia’s highest charting ESC entry ever. Finland’s entry “Monsters” by Saara Aalto makes a strong comeback at #5, with the song also going Gold this week. It’s already more successful than any contest entry from last year. Bulgaria’s Equinox are new at #6 with “Bones” while Mikolas Josef from Czech Republic has a fourth entry at #11 with his song “Lie To Me”.

Other new and re-entries this week: Ed Sheeran has finally chosen the next single of his smash album “÷” and with “Happier” it’s definitely the most expected one. The song enters the charts at #8, becoming his 15th Top10 entry and 17th entry overall. Janelle Monae’s “Make Me Feel” gets a new peak at #26 as it’s back due to the release of her new album “Dirty Computer”. Saara Aalto also has another re-entry due to the release of her new album “Wild Wild Wonderland”, and in her case it’s the #4 peaking “Queens” which is back at #35.

Other talking points this week: Only one week after “The Space Between” (11-17) got Auri their first certification, “Night 13” also goes Gold this time (26-32).

Anne-Marie’s “2002” and Leaves’ Eyes’ “Across The Sea” (33-28) are the biggest climbers while Katja Krasavice’s “Dicke Lippen” is the biggest loser this week, as the song tumbles down 7-36 after three weeks in the Top10.

[spoiler:2ea2635k]My Indigo stays at number one with the self-titled solo debut album. There was quite a fight this week, as three new arrivals made the charts and all of them plus another release were played a lot, but in the end My Indigo got that second week. She’s followed by the first new entry, and that’s Anne-Marie’s debut album “Speak Your Mind”, which arrives at number two. Anne-Marie already collected several singles hits and so it’s no surprise that “Speak Your Mind” was a contender for this weeks top spot. It’s a similar picture on both charts this week, with the number one staying the same on the Singles Top40 and the Album Top20, Anne-Marie being at the runner-up spot and the Top3 gets closed by something ESC related on both charts too, as the compilation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 rises 5-3. It’s its fourth charting week and the first time it enters the Top3, and it’s likely to climb even further in the upcoming two weeks as the contest starts next week.

As mentioned, the other two new albums also made quite an impact this week. Finnish singer and former UK X-Factor contestant Saara Aalto has released her international debut album called “Wild Wild Wonderland”, and with the hype around her ESC entry “Monsters” the album also makes an impact and debuts at #4. It’s followed by “Dirty Computer”, the third studio album by American R&B singer Janelle Monae, who gets her very first notation ever by arriving at #5.

Other talking points this week: Auri’s got a very good time, as their song “The Space Between” went Gold last week, the single “Night 13” does so this week and their self-titled album “Auri” goes Gold this week too. Samantha Jade has the expected big drop as she’s falling 10-20 with “Best Of My Love”.

                                            • amazing debut for "Speak Your Mind".

Great climb for "Friends" on the single charts. And I am glad to see "2002" making the Top 10 this week... tbh first I thought it's a weak song, but I cannot get it out of my head since the album was released. It kinda makes me reminisce of my own childhood. Love that feeling! Perfect for spring IMO.

Damn, yeah, I forgot about that crazy level jump between Erika (whose best Pokémon is Lv. 32) and then Koga or Sabrina (regardless of who you challenge first, their best Pokémon is Lv. 50) Which means grinding, and that's not exactly the most exciting/enticing part of a playthrough :x Hopefully you find a way to power through Koga and keep this journey going!

I mean, if I/we go out, I’d like to have a drink or two as well… it’s not that funny if I have to stay sober and he/other doesn’t, especially when I’m not going out that often

Yeah definitely. Somehow I don’t like to be the little spoon because I feel too cramped that way.
Aw, you're an awesome partner/friend for always being the designated driver...but they definitely need to give you a break and dump that job on somebody else once in a while ;) Is something like Uber or Lyft usually not an option?

Ha, although it can be fun to pull the little spoon in nice and tight, I can understand not wanting to feel smothered I guess there's a fine line between feeling embraced/snug, and feeling cramped/trapped.

Almost certainly! For a while, it wasn't all that uncommon for big-name female popstars to debut right at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (like "We R Who We R," "Hold It Against Me," "Born This Way," "Part Of Me," "Shake It Off"), whereas lately it's been a real struggle for them to get to No. 1 at all.

Yeah, I'm with you there. For better or worse, it DEFINITELY stood out on that (fairly forgettable) album.

There's only four songs with more than 235 plays in my entire last.fm! I'm feelin' like such a flop music fan now Bummer about Ari getting shafted a bit with those missed plays! It's crazy to think that her first-week #'s were actually even MORE impressive than what the final tally ended up showing!

                                                • Glad to see that Ari's eyes are still dry I'm sure we've discussed her discography here before, but a lot of her No. 1's ("The Way," "Problem," "Best Mistake," "Love Me Harder," "One Last Time", and probably others) only lasted one week on top, right? So "Tears" is off to an especially strong start...
                                                • I wasn't expecting "Happier" to be Ed's next single selection, and it's not a choice that has me very excited :-? I'm surprised he's going with another slow song (especially since the US skipped over "Galway Girl," so it's been "Castle," "Perfect," and now this all in a row). It's never been one of my personal favorites on the album either ("New Man" >>>>>>>>.) I'm not as enthusiastic about "Eraser" as a lot of fans seem to be, but that one would've at least been a more interesting choice. Granted, this era's been so massive already, maybe they're just not as bothered anymore.
                                                • Lovin' the re-entry for "Make Me Feel." That No. 5 debut for Dirty Computer doesn't look too impressive at first, but considering it's her first album to chart at all, that's not too shabby! From what I've seen/heard, this album seems designed to appeal to a broader audience than her usual fanbase (without completely sacrificing her usual artistry). It worked on me, at least!
                                                • You'd been looking forward to Anne-Marie's debut album for a while, yeah? It looks like it...mostly...lived up to the hype/wait? I haven't been paying too much attention to her (aside from some of her guest appearances, like "Rockabye"), but maybe I should add Speak Your Mind to my queue...

Yet another chart that's got me tearing up, Tansike!

But as for now a little teaser... depending on how big the impact of tomorrow‘s first ESC Semi-Final will be and considering how many new releases came out on Friday, it‘s likely that around HALF of the Top40 may leave the charts this week

So the record from week 12/2018 with 17 new songs may already get broken

I agree when it comes to "2002". Was a big grower to me - thank god, as at first i thought it's her second weakest single ever Only behind "Heavy", which may be solid, but never fully clicked with me sadly.
