Ariana seems to be slaying everyone's charts at the moment!!! I mentioned in another thread that her recent releases are still needing to grow on me. They just aren't capturing me like nearly every other release of hers has had. Even Everyday got me more excited.
Aww. I think it’s cool how everyone has their own tastes and a few people think she’s as strong as never before while some people can’t get into her new stuff. I think she has an amazing 2018 so far and I’m also loving the new “The Light Is Coming”. Fingers crossed the new stuff will grow on you more, maybe it will with the album release?

Loved the Demi comeback a bit!!! Cool For The Summer is yet to sound dated at all for me.
I agree! I don’t get why I got over it so quickly back then when it’s actually one of her strongest singles for me nowadays

Hold on Kylie . I'm glad to see that Golden has managed to make a small impact with you Tansike. Your charts usually don't get rocked too much by a Kylie release, so this warms my heart! <3
With all the new releases which are out at the moment this was most likely her last week on my charts But yeah, she’s usually not a big force on my charts and “Golden” is her first album to have three entries on my charts, so she’s at least getting stronger here with each release

      • Singles Top40

[spoiler:acchici3]It is yet another busy week with a massive 12 new entries on the Singles Top40 and unlike the last time, there was a big fight atop the charts as well. In the end, it's Ariana Grande who collects her 12th number one single with "The Light Is Coming". The track is the second song of her upcoming fourth studio album "Sweetener", and got revealed alongside the album pre-order last week. It also features Nicki Minaj, making it their fourth chart entry together, as they already collaborated on "Bang Bang" (#2 in 2014),
"Side To Side" (#1 for two weeks in 2016), and "Bed", which debuted a week ago and falls 3-6 this time. With 12 number ones, Ariana Grande ties Lana Del Rey, Lindsey Stirling and Miley Cyrus as the artists with the fifth most number one entries. Only Selena Gomez (13), Kerli (14), Lady Gaga (15) and Tarja (15) got more so far.

Ariana's biggest competition came from a song which got 185 plays in 2017 as the 15th most played song of the year and even the second most played album track, and that one just got its video last week: "Strangers" by Halsey and former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui. "The Light Is Coming" denies Halsey a second top debut, though the arrival at the runner-up spot still is Halsey's second best notation ever. Rounding up the Top3 is yet another artist who really fought for the top spot, and that's Tarja. The Finnish singer is used to get number one debuts, though "Undertaker" only arrives at #3 this week due to strong competition. "Undertaker" is the second single of her upcoming live album "Act II" and follows-up "Love To Hate", which debuted atop the charts three weeks ago and falls 8-13 this week.

Other new and re-entries this week: The Top3 may be completely new, but none of the other nine new arrivals made the Top10, but one was near: “Sober” by Demi Lovato. The singer has surprise-released a completely new track last week which enters the charts at #11. Khalid is slowly becoming a common name on my charts, as the singer is not only featured on Shawn Mendes’ “Youth” (16-25), but he’s also part of two new entries. The first is “Lovely”, a collaboration with Billie Eilish (#15), with the second being “Ocean”, a collaboration with Martin Garrix (#18). Also debuting in the upper half is Brandi Carlile’s new single “Hold Out Your Hand” (#19). It’s been a year since their last visit on the charts, but OneRepublic are back now with “Start Again”, a song from the ’13 Reasons Why’ soundtrack. The song features US rapper Logic and arrives at #28. Only two spots lower is the very first notation ever for Blair St. Clair, who was one of the contestants on Season 10 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’. She debuts with her debut single “Now Or Never” (#30), with her first mini album being released tomorrow. Alessia Cara is finally preparing the release of her sophomore studio album, and with “Growing Pains” she gets her first entry from it, as the track starts at #36. Aly & AJ are new at #38 with “Good Love”, followed by “N’oublie pas”, which is the 12th and final entry of the week for Mylene Farmer and LP.

Other talking points this week: Despite three new entries above it, “I’m A Mess” remains at #5 due to Bebe Rexha’s album release. Selena Gomez’ “Back To You” (11-7) and Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left To Cry” (12-8) both return to the Top10. While Demi Lovato had a nice second week of her concert effect a week ago, she’s falling with all of her entries now, with “Tell Me You Love Me” going down 9-20, her Christina Aguilera collaboration “Fall In Line” dropping 18-27, “Give Your Heart A Break” decreasing 22-31, “Cool For The Summer” falling 20-32, the Luis Fonsi duet “Échame La Culpa” drowning 23-34 and “Heart Attack” (ex #26) & “Confident” (ex #33) both falling out completely. There’s still something good for Demi happening this week, as “Cool For The Summer” also goes Gold, being already her third certification for a single since the concert boost kicked in.

Luis Fonsi and Stefflon Don’s “Calypso” rises 27-22 as the biggest climber while Shawn Mendes’ “Nervous” falls 19-37 as the biggest loser this week.

        • Album Top20

[spoiler:c3lfyl0o]Just like a week ago, the Album Top20 has three new arrivals again, with all of them landing inside the Top5. But unlike last week, the top album isn’t the same, as Demi Lovato’s “Tell Me You Love Me” drops 1-6 after two weeks at number one following the concert effect. “Confident” (4-9) and “Unbroken” (16-20) are both loosing some spots as well, even though there’s still a reason to celebrate as the latter goes Gold this week.

The top debut goes to Bebe Rexha. The singer has finally released her full-length debut album called “Expectations”, which makes it to the top as expected. She already scored two chart entries last year with the “All Your Fault, Pt. 1” and “All Your Fault, Pt. 2” EPs, which both peaked inside the Top10 and the first part even made it to a Gold certification. Bebe also scored ten entries on the Singles Top40 over the past two and a half years, with “I Got You” being her biggest hit to date (#1 for one week, certified with Platinum), followed by “Home”, a collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly and X Ambassadors (#1 for one week, certified with Gold), and “In The Name Of Love”, a collaboration with Martin Garrix (#5, also certified with Gold).

The second new entry is a rather surprising one, as it was also a surprise release a week and a half ago: “Everything Is Love” by The Carters, a new project by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The set arrives at number two, which is Jay-Z’s very first notation on my album charts and only Beyoncé’s second after her self-titled studio album peaked at #3 in the very first week of 2014. Rounding up the new entries is K-Pop star Taeyeon, who arrives at #5 with “Something New”. It’s already her third entry on the Album Top20 within a bit more than a year, as she peaked at #4 last spring with “My Voice” and hit #7 last winter with “This Christmas – Winter Is Coming”, extending her lead as the K-Pop artist with not only the most entries, but also with the most success on the album charts.

There are also two re-entries, both getting a boost through their new singles. Halsey gets a strong start for “Strangers” on the Singles Top40, and her latest album “hopeless fountain kingdom” also makes a strong comeback at #11. Brandi Carlile owns the other re-entry, as her album “By The Way, I Forgive You” is back at #19.

Other talking points this week: Despite only peaking at #7, Ashley Monroe’s “Sparrow” (13-12) proved to be a hit nonetheless and even goes Gold this week, which is the first time in nearly two years an album gets a certification despite peaking that low. “Voicenotes” by Charlie Puth also gets certified with Gold (10-13). Meanwhile, a certification seems nearly impossible to reach now for Lily Allen, as her new album “No Shame” already tumbles down 6-18 in its third week.

          • ^ Yeah... she was one of the artists who only had #1s in her discography and now this is already her second song within less than a year which most likely won't top my charts... but to be fair, it was a very competitive week, it's 'just' a live release and it's a song i never fully appreciated.

I think she's slowly releasing a bit too much. There are so many random releases from her and sometimes the less would be more instead of more is more...

            Comment

            • I listened to your top three songs, and "The Light Is Coming" definitely sounds better now than it did when I first played it. Its chorus is very electronic, almost video-game-esque. "Strangers" I always thought was decent, and "Undertaker" is okay, too.

I actually listened to 5 Seconds of Summer's new album last week, and it wasn't bad. They're not One Direction, but their music is pretty palatable still. "Youngblood" is certainly a highlight from the new LP.

Expected debuts for "Ocean" and "Growing Pains". I think you mentioned that you enjoyed the former considerably more than the latter, but, hopefully, both will grow on you. I think "Growing Pains" is indeed a bit...basic, but I like how she references her past era, and I think the lyrics are fairly relatable for most young adults.

Congrats, Tansike! It's quite funny that your chart has reached this milestone around this time because just this week "Crystallize" tied "Diamonds" as my joint most-played track since 2012, and were it not for your charts that would never have happened. I look forward to six more years of quality charts, with detailed synopses and thorough chart-runs. Bring on six more years of symphonic metal interspersed with soothing electronic instrumentals, the best of dance and pop, and sprinklings of country and folk music.

Due to the song being already so 'old' i'm already quite over it, so it won't be #1 for that long i'm afraid

Well, when your music is at that level, there's lots of room for improvement, and he does seem to be slowly improving, which is good.

Very glad to hear "The Light Is Coming" sounds better now! For me it was once again love at first listen, even though I think this may change soon and it most definitely won't have the same longevity with me like "No Tears Left To Cry" had. Very happy to hear you checked the other two out and enjoyed them a bit.

I feel the same! "Youngblood" is the obvious highlight, but the full album is better than I expected.

Yes, I mentioned that over in your topic. I'm not sure if both will grow on me more and for now it's likely to see them not getting new peaks on my charts. Alessia still has a chance to do so once the album drops though.

I look forward to six more years of quality charts, with detailed synopses and thorough chart-runs. Bring on six more years of symphonic metal interspersed with soothing electronic instrumentals, the best of dance and pop, and sprinklings of country and folk music.
Thank you! Woah, this is really huge! I've seen Lindsey having to re-entries a few days ago (I think on Friday?) with "Crystallize" and "The Arena", and it's obviously always so nice to see her re-appearing on your list. But I never imagined her to be tied with Rihanna's "Diamonds" as your most played track since 2012 - this is really huge! That's what I love about this section here, sometimes one discovers a track which ends up as a big hit even though one probably would've never heard it by themselves. Thanks for the nice words <3

                • It's 1st of July which means half of the year 2018 is already over. So it's time to take a look at some of the most successful & most played songs and albums so far!

I won't give away too many details though, but still wanted to do a short Update with what was hot this year so far.

                  Mid-Year Report 2018: Singles

With 254 plays, "Across The Sea" by Leaves' Eyes is the most played song of the year so far. But is it also the most successful one? Going by plays, it's followed by "No Tears Left To Cry" by Ariana Grande (237 plays), "Monsters" by Saara Aalto (232 plays) and "Night 13" (218 plays) & "The Space Between" (164 plays), both by Auri. All these songs are currently in the Top15 of the Year-To-Date Charts. Auri aren't the only artist with more than one song so high up on that list, as My Indigo owns two entries as well with "Out Of The Darkness" and "Crash And Burn". Anne-Marie & Marshmello ("Friends"), Elina Nechayeva ("La forza"), Imagine Dragons ("Whatever It Takes"), Nina Kraljic ("Lay You Down") and Noah Cyrus ("Again") all own an entry in the Top10.

Also worth a mention: With 148 plays, "Solo" by Clean Bandit feat. Demi Lovato is already the sixth most played song of the year and is likely to enter the Top10 of the Year-To-Date Charts very soon as well, despite being out for only a few weeks.
                  Mid-Year Report 2018: Albums

The symphonic metal band Leaves' Eyes also owns the most played album of the year so far, as their "Sign Of The Dragonhead" has 1,001 plays to date, being the first and only to cross the magical 1,000 plays this year. Unsurprisingly, it is followed by My Indigo's "My Indigo" (974 plays) and Auri's "Auri" (797 plays), with The Dark Element's "The Dark Element" coming fourth with 601 plays and Anne-Marie's "Speak Your Mind" coming fifth with 532 plays. These five albums can all be found in the Top10 of the Year-To-Date Charts as well. Other artists in the current Top10: Brandi Carlile ("By The Way, I Forgive You"), Faun ("XV - Best Of"), Halsey ("hopeless fountain kingdom"), Rachel Platten ("Waves") and some various artists (Eurovision Song Contest 2018).
                  Mid-Year Report 2018: Album Tracks

"Sign Of The Dragonhead" may have the most plays for an album, but the album track with most plays doesn't belong to Leaves' Eyes but My Indigo with "Black Velvet Sun" (117 plays), closely followed by "Indian Summer" (109 plays) from the same album, with "Jomsborg" (94 plays) coming third - the first album track by the aforementioned most played album. Yet another My Indigo track comes fourth with "Star Crossed Lovers" (87 plays) while Rachel Platten's "Collide" is the fifth most played album track of the year so far with 82 plays.

Supposedly it was mentioned during a question-and-answer session with the developers of Let's Go!, when it was also confirmed that only Gen I Pokémon will be included in these games (plus some Alolan forms) :x I'm still optimistic/curious about the games overall, but keeping out ALL cross-Gen evolutions is a really disappointing choice, since it makes a lot of Pokémon feel "incomplete" (like Golbat being permanently stuck as fairly-useless Golbat, when it's actually had a cool, useful evolution for almost 20 years now...)

Ha, I feel you there! My bf jumps between different games/apps (that don't interest me) so often that they all blur together, or I just instantly forget what they're called I'd forgotten/didn't know that you and your partner had played Pokkén together! Were you pretty into it for a while? Who was your favorite fighter to use? I only tried the free demo for a very brief while, since I'm awful at traditional fighting games like that one It did look pretty gorgeous though - especially the Pokémon themselves!

Ha, yeah, Ed's influence on that track is pretty apparent (Shawn even sounds like he's doing an Ed impression during some parts) - but that combo really works! It's the perfect example of what Ed can be doing while he gives the world a break from releasing his own material.

I'm definitely not mad at all! This is why streaming services are so appealing: we can check out full albums so easily without really "wasting" money if we come away from them feeling fairly unimpressed/unconvinced.

Plus, it would have been a great opportunity to do a LGBT video, as the song is also about that and they’re both bi from what I remember. Would have been cool, especially now that it’s pride month. The video even had a negative effect on me – with a great one it could have been an easy chart topper, but with lots of other new entries it will be a tough battle now. What are your thoughts about the video?
Boxing is just such a gross sport, it's always been hard for me to watch People clobbering each other in the face until they're a disfigured mess. (Even though I know all the bruises, cuts, and blood are fake in this case.)

I didn't realize the "Strangers" vid was disappointing enough to actually hurt the song for you, though So with a more interesting, on-theme video, it probably would've returned at No. 1?

I guess you mean worldwide? I think “Don’t Wanna Know” and “What Lovers Do” were actually quite big hits in many countries as well…

And now that I think about it, it’s kinda crazy how they became such a force on the singles charts, when people thought they’d be over in 2010! “Moves Like Jagger” was an amazing career move for them!
Ha, SO true about them being radio darlings here in the US Even "Cold" and "Wait" went Top 10 on Billboard's Radio Songs chart. Yeah, I think DWK was even bigger than WLD in some places (when it definitely should've been the other way around, IMO). ;)

M5's longevity is seriously impressive, especially considering how long they've ridden the "second wind" they got after "Moves Like Jagger." "Girls Like You" is shaping up to be a Top 10 (or even Top 5) hit in a bunch of places right now, yet back in 2010 it was looking like their time was up...

Sometimes I wish a few artist would adjust their setlist to the countries they visit. Demi’s a good example, as she never visited Switzerland before that tour so it would have been nice to hear some older songs as well.
Ha, maybe I was too quick to say "never"...but none that I can call to mind now, anyway Granted, I don't watch awards shows too often. I was thinking the exact same thing about her not being known as a dancer, so I can totally see why you were surprised to discover that she can actually pull off some tricky routines! I would've been too Shame on us for under-estimating her, I guess...?

**Nod** That would make perfect sense (especially since an act's biggest hits/signature songs can really vary from country to country too).

Yeah, it feels like Blue Lips was treated more like a mixtape than a proper studio album release :-? Did it ever even get a physical release, or is it still digital-only? With only two proper singles (released nine months apart...) #mess #justicefortove

I wonder if messier/confusing eras like this are becoming the norm in the streaming era, with artists doing bits of promo for a bunch of different songs (a proper video for one, a lyric video for another, live performances for another, etc.) instead of focusing on promoting just one song at a time. I do prefer/miss more organized album campaigns, but I guess getting exposure for as many songs as possible might be more effective for getting people to take an interest (and buy concert tickets).

                    • It's always a treat to see Ari earn another No. 1, but I've got mixed feelings about "The Light Is Coming" as a song. There's definitely some catchy elements to it, but that repeating quote in the background does get pretty distracting. I totally support her trying to include some sort of political message/statement in her music, but I don't get exactly what message she's trying to send with that particular soundbite (or if it really needed to keep looping throughout the entire song in order to make her point). Overall, it's an interesting, unexpected offering, for sure.
                    • Would a more satisfying video have been enough for Halsey to block Ari? Now we'll never know...
                    • I'm diggin' the little rebound for "Back To You" back into your Top 10!
                    • I wasn't in a big rush to check out "Sober," since the Tell Me You Love Me era hasn't been doing a whole lot for me...but this track does have a pretty powerful emotional punch to it. It's raw, honest - and you definitely come away from it feeling for her.
                    • Leaves' Eyes and My Indigo have clearly been the stand-outs of 2018 so far! Glad to see that Ari's not too far behind in terms of overall song plays, though. Also: if you're doing an update of "what was hot this year," you obviously should've included a selfie (or two)... ;)

                    Yet another illuminating chart, Tansike!

Ah, thank you. Well, it’s interesting they’re only going with Gen 1 Pokémon but still add some Alolan forms. But yes, if they add Alolan forms they could add some cross-Gen evolutions as well, wouldn’t make a big difference IMO.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a bf who does that Well, he was MUCH more into it than me, to my own surprise! But no, it held on for like three weeks or so? So not that long. I basically always picked Decidueye and was quite good at fighting, but as I said my partner was even more into it and he was even better, so when we played against each other he used to win all the time after a while, which made it not interesting anymore. I mean, how is it possible to lose against someone who isn’t into Pokémon at all? Not really motivating

Short update to my Yellow playthrough, if you’re still interested: I finally picked it up again. The last time I played it was when I beat Sabrina, so this week I finally went back to Fuchsia City, picked up Strength and Surf (didn’t do that previously), arrived at Cinnabar Island and started to explore the Pokémon Mansion. So nothing big, but all of this already took me more time than expected. I forgot how annoying the Pokémon Mansion was – it used to be the most annoying thing in Red/Blue for me back in the days and I think it still is

So true! Actually, you’re mentioning something which bothers me a bit when it comes to Shawn’s album, or even his music in general: We don’t really know who he is. He’s often sounding like some other artists. There are also songs written by Ryan Tedder or Julia Michaels which sound typical for them.

True! That’s why I’m loving streaming so much, despite being completely against it at first…

Haha yeah… boxing is very popular over here and I already watched a few battles on the TV, but I never really understood the hype about it. There are so many breaks in between and I feel not much happens except them beating up each other. Why would one do that?

Yes, it was, sadly. There was so much potential in this song and they kinda wasted it on a basic video. Yes, with a better video she could have been #1 on my charts, the competition wasn’t even that strong and you know how much I love the song, so the chances were there.

Yes, but I rarely do it I mean, first of all meat is sooo expensive over here, and second, I’m often just getting something which is done fast and I can get and eat, instead of cooking first and then eat. Me and nutrition are a strange combination anyway since I moved out eight years ago

Interesting – I’m also excited to see how they will do on your charts. Both are quite similarly strong to me so far and I can already reveal that both will have back-to-back debuts on my charts tomorrow

Oh, I already forgot about “Cold” But yeah, everything they release becomes a raio hit in the US Agree about WLD/DWK, but DWK was like the first track of a new era, wasn’t it? That’s probably why it was more successful in a few places than WLD. Also, Kendrick is more known than SZA, which could have played a role as well when it comes to the songs success.

True! The ‘second wind’ is already lasting as long as the ‘first wind’ – they debuted in 2004 and MLJ came out in 2011
Speaking of “Girls Like You”, I don't remember seeing Cardi B on your charts, so I guess you’re not really into her? I love how she just got her second #1 in the US with “I Like It” as the first female rapper ever to get two #1s, and “Girls Like You” could be her third soon.

Poor Demi. I’m not sure what would have been better, not being interested in watching her performance or having watched one or more but don’t remember it at all
Anyways, yeah, up to this point I thought she was a basic live performer, like, just standing there, doing her thing, having great vocals but nothing more or exciting. So my interest in watching her performances wasn’t that big, which is also why I was impressed at how well she did on the concert with staging, performing and delivering a great show.

I think it’s still a digital-only release, so yeah, they didn’t treat it that well after all. Fingers crossed her next release will be handled properly again!

I do prefer/miss more organized album campaigns, but I guess getting exposure for as many songs as possible might be more effective for getting people to take an interest (and buy concert tickets).
Good point, I think this may actually be the case. Especially ‘normal’ album campaigns aren’t as important as they used to be, once the album drops you have to be much more lucky to get another hit from that album, as new singles usually don’t get added on a ‘New Music Friday’ playlist on Spotify etc.
That’s why I loved Dua Lipa’s era so much, like, it already looked like it’s over as she released lots of singles before the album came out, then the album dropped and had some nice starts everywhere but fell down rather quickly… and out of a sudden, “New Rules” became a surprise hit, the album rose again… and the rest is history!

I’m surprised… you’re not the first one noting that background sound in a negative way, but I have to admit it doesn’t bother me at all when listening to “The Light Is Coming”. I’m glad you’re not completely turned off by it though, as I think it’s a very catchy pop tune which gets stuck in your head so quickly. It’s obviously far from being her best, but I do like it a lot at the moment and I’m already excited to see how it will sound within the whole album.

As noted above, yes, it could have been #1 with a good video

I was hooked on “Back To You” again last week, but I think this was like the final boost before starting to fall down my charts.

Aww… I’m glad you still checked “Sober” out and I’m glad to read these thoughts about it. It’s an unexpected track from her and I feel sorry for her I mean, it’s obvious this won’t be a hit, so the release kinda feels like she needed this to say and didn’t know how, so she recorded and released this song.

Yep, they both dominated my charts in this year so far! I’m quite sure with the upcoming album release Ariana will get lots of plays and NTLTC could end up as my most played song of the year, and who knows, maybe also the most successful one?
                      Haha… you’re sweet, thank you <3

                      Thanks so much

My Charts - week 27/2018 – 5 july 2018 - Pop, violin, Drag and more
                        .
                        • Singles Top40

[spoiler:2m54qiub]It’s not as busy as a week ago, but there’s still a lot going on with six new entries, two re-entries and some other stuff.

Having mentioned the artists with most number one entries on my charts just a week ago as Ariana Grande collected her 12th top hit with “The Light Is Coming” (1-4), it’s interesting to see one of the mentioned artist getting a top hit just this week, as “First Light” becomes the 13th number one single for Lindsey Stirling. The violinist has released a video for the song which was released as an album track for her third studio album “Brave Enough” nearly two years ago and not only tops this weeks charts, but also becomes her 23rd chart entry overall in just five and a half years, plus it’s the seventh entry for the mentioned album, with all of them reaching the Top3.

Lindsey’s closest rival was Blair St. Clair. The Drag Queen debuted on the lower half of the Singles Top40 last week with “Now Or Never”, but makes an impressive jump forward now (30-2). Her second single “Call My Life” also arrives at #14 with the help of the release of her debut album with the same name.

Other new and re-entries this week: Charli XCX has released two singles at once with “Focus” and “No Angel”, both debuting back to back at #15 and #16 as the follow-ups to “5 In The Morning”, which goes up 26-23 in its fifth week. Eleni Foureira represented Cyprus at this years Eurovision Song Contest and came second with her entry “Fuego”, and while that one is still charting (29-35), she’s getting a follow-up entry now as the new single “Caramela” starts at #30. She’s closely followed by “Mad Love”, which makes its return at #31 for Sean Paul, David Guetta and Becky G. Another re-entry is back at #36 with the quite surprising “Carol Of The Bells” by Lindsey Stirling. The sixth and final new arrival of the week belongs to OneRepublic, as their new song “Connection” enters the charts at #34 as their 15th but lowest entry to date.

Other talking points this week: The current Top10 is really strong at the moment, which is also why there’s not much movement with “Strangers” by Halsey and Lauren Jauregui (2-3), “Bed” by Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande (6-5), “I’m A Mess” by Bebe Rexha (5-6), “Solo” by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato (4-7) and “No Tears Left To Cry” by Ariana Grande (8-9) all being quite stable. “Solo” even goes Gold this week. Another Gold certification goes to Selena Gomez, as her “Back To You” reaches that milestone, even though it’s leaving the Top10 (7-12). Billie Eilish gets her very first Top10 hit, as “Lovely” rises 15-10 for her and Khalid, who already got one alongside Shawn Mendes with “Youth” (25-33) earlier this year. It’s not the only song from the ’13 Reasons Why’ soundtrack to reach a new peak this week, as OneRepublic and Logic are also doing it with “Start Again” (28-22).

Blair St. Clair’s “Now Or Never” is the biggest climber while Brandi Carlile drops 19-40 with “Hold Out Your Hand” as the biggest loser this week.

My Charts - week 27/2018 – 5 july 2018 - Pop, violin, Drag and more
                          .
                          • Album Top20

[spoiler:385kthta]Four new albums and two re-entries are on the Album Top20 this week, bringing in some changes, but the number one remains Bebe Rexha’s “Expectations”. The singer gets a second week atop the charts, giving her already the fifth album which debuted and remained atop the charts for at least one week this year. She’s followed by the first new entry, and that’s “Call My Life”, the debut (mini) album by US Drag Queen and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Blair St. Clair. It’s only the second time a Drag Queen is able to debut on the Album Top20, the other being Trixie Mattel, who debuted and peaked at #7 with “One Stone” earlier this year.

Other new and re-entries this week: Florence + The Machine has released her fourth studio album called “High As Hope”, which becomes her very first notation on my album charts at #3. Sean Paul already gets his second, as the surprise release “Mad Love: The Prequel” enters the charts at #5 – a massive ten places higher than the peak of his only other entry “Full Frequenzy” from 2014. The fourth and final debut of the week is “Scorpion”, the latest release by Canadian rapper Drake. It is very likely to smash several records worldwide and will easily get some astonishing debuts all around the globe, but he’s only debuting at #8 on my charts as his third entry so far, following “Views” (#4 in 2016) and “More Life” (#20 in 2017). The two shortly mentioned re-entries belong both to Violinist Lindsey Stirling. “Brave Enough”, the parenting album to her new number one single, makes a comeback at #15, while the surprising “Warmer In The Winter” sneaks back in at #18.

Other talking points this week: Christina Aguilera proves to be more successful than expected, as her set “Liberation” only slips 3-4 in its third week, being likely to already become her biggest success ever next week. Meanwhile, it’s a bad week for Demi Lovato, as the concert boost is nearly over with “Tell Me You Love Me” falling 6-12 and “Confident” dropping 9-14.

Yeah, especially since a lot of cross-Gen evolutions are already available in GO too (and even the Gen IV ones might be available by the time the Let's Go! games drop in November), so making them unavailable in Let's Go! will feel weird even to people who have only ever played GO before. :-?

I forgot how annoying the Pokémon Mansion was – it used to be the most annoying thing in Red/Blue for me back in the days and I think it still is
What? Has your partner always been a big fan of/good at fighting games? Which Pokémon did he usually pick? I get what you mean about not wanting to fall behind/constantly lose to someone who's not even a big fan of the franchise It was similar for me when my bf was leveling up faster in GO for a while (but I soon caught up and sped ahead as he gradually lost interest, like a lot of players from the beginning...)

I'm ALWAYS interested in Pokémon playthrough updates from you <3 Who contributed the most against Sabrina? Her level jump in that game can be tough stuff. Now that I think about it, she might be the only 5th/6th Gym Leader (depending if you face her or Koga first) in any region to have Pokémon at Lv. 50. Even some of the 8th Gym Leaders in other Gens don't have Pokémon at Lv. 50! Ah, you mean those random spots where you have to fall off the edge to drop into certain levels/areas in Pokémon Mansion? It also has some door/shutter puzzle too, right? Making you press random statues to unlock sections of different floors...?

He’s often sounding like some other artists. There are also songs written by Ryan Tedder or Julia Michaels which sound typical for them.
**Nod** Some of the reviews I've seen for Shawn Mendes mentioned that exactly! Like Pitchfork, for example:

Nothing about these songs belongs uniquely to Mendes, and you can imagine them being recorded by anyone: Nick Jonas, Charlie Puth, a random choice from the One Direction diaspora.

Boxing is a big deal in Switzerland? I had no idea! I imagine football is the most popular sport, given what I know about its massive status across Europe, but would boxing place second? Have you ever seen a live fight?

That’s probably why it was more successful in a few places than WLD. Also, Kendrick is more known than SZA, which could have played a role as well when it comes to the songs success.

True! The ‘second wind’ is already lasting as long as the ‘first wind’ – they debuted in 2004 and MLJ came out in 2011 Speaking of “Girls Like You”, I don't remember seeing Cardi B on your charts, so I guess you’re not really into her? I love how she just got her second #1 in the US with “I Like It” as the first female rapper ever to get two #1s, and “Girls Like You” could be her third soon.
Yeah, "Don't Wanna Know" definitely benefitted from "lead single" hype (yet they still left it off the standard edition of Red Pill Blues...)

Admittedly, most of Cardi's material doesn't do a whole lot for me, but her story/struggles before finally achieving such massive success make me more inclined to root for her anyway (or at least make me less bothered by her chart dominance).

**Fingers and toes crossed** Tove fizzled way too quickly after "Habits" was pretty massive and "Talking Body" was still a decent-sized hit most places. I guess things started getting off-track for her when they took forever to decide if "Timebomb" or "Moments" would be the official follow-up to "Talking Body," and then "Cool Girl" kind of killed the Lady Wood era before it could even begin... :x

Ha, that's such a perfect example! "New Rules" might be the most successful 6th (7th?) single ever!

I’m glad you’re not completely turned off by it though, as I think it’s a very catchy pop tune which gets stuck in your head so quickly. It’s obviously far from being her best, but I do like it a lot at the moment and I’m already excited to see how it will sound within the whole album.
I tend to have a hard time tuning out background noise in general in life (like I can't get work done at a busy café, or fall asleep if the TV is still on), so I can see how others probably wouldn't struggle as much to ignore that audio clip in TLIC. Even with it there the whole time, I'm definitely not completely turned off - the track just feels like a step (or two, maybe three) down from "No Tears..." for me.

Ooh...I'm lovin' the implication that Ari could pull ahead in the second half of 2018! Her album release is still on the horizon, and maybe if she tours in Switzerland before the end of the year, she could REALLY secure that glory! ;)

Woah, I didn't realize that Lindsey was still promoting/releasing singles from her last (non-holiday) album! This seems like a really interesting/unusual case, where an artist releases a Christmas album, then goes back to promoting the album that came out a year before the Xmas one. Could this be a chart record of sorts, since "First Light" hit No. 1 almost two years after its parent album was released? Especially since it wasn't due to the concert effect (or an album re-release) either.
                            • Ah, so "Focus" just BARELY beat out "No Angel" here! At first, "No Angel" was the clear winner for me, since "Focus" felt WAY too repetitive...but toward the end of last week, "Focus" narrowed the gap between them more than I expected.
                            • Lindsey gettin' that Christmas-in-July re-entry too!

                            Yet another shining chart, Tansike!

                            • I just checked my Excel spreadsheet, and when I listened to Brave Enough in 2016, it looks like I rated "First Light" 7.9/10. I think I'd bump that up a bit. It really is lovely.

The new Eleni song definitely isn't on par with "Fuego", but it's a cute summer jam. Boo at the tumble for "Dance for This", though!

True! But is it actually 100% sure we won’t get them?

I don’t know, he’s usually more a RPG or shooter gamer. He always picked different ones, he liked to try them out instead of picking the same all the time. You’re still playing GO, do you? I also belong to the people who gave up on it very quickly, but then I’m not someone who is ‘on the way’ that often and if then it’s with my car so I wouldn’t be able to catch lots of Pokémon.

<3 Erm. Is it bad when I forgot who helped the most from my team? I think it was Pikachu or Pidgeot. But yes, going by levels her team has a very high standard compared to other editions. Yes, I mean that. Plus, I don’t know if it’s just me, but wild Pokémons appear all the time in the Pokémon Mansion, like more than usual. At least I already thought this back when I played it for the first time and it still feels that way now. Anyways, I made it through the Mansion and beat Blaine, which ended up much easier than expected, despite his team being Ninetales (lv. 48), Rapidash (lv. 50) and Arcanine (lv. 54), which looks very strong on paper. My highest one – Pikachu – is still only level 45
Side note: I wtf’ed a bit when Arcanine used Reflect. A move I didn’t see coming at all!

Nothing about these songs belongs uniquely to Mendes, and you can imagine them being recorded by anyone: Nick Jonas, Charlie Puth, a random choice from the One Direction diaspora.
Oh, interesting to see I’m not the only one thinking so and even some professional reviewers felt the same! Not a good sign for Shawn, but he still has enough time to find his sound.

Well, it’s actually bigger in Germany than in Switzerland, but most stuff from Germany kinda affects Switzerland as well, and some German TV stations do a lot of promo for Boxing, which affects Switzerland as well as these TV stations are big here too. Anyways, yeah, I think Football may be the most popular in Switzerland, but I think Tennis would be second due to King Roger

Haha yeah basically. Well, back when I still lived ‘home’ my mom obviously cooked or looked after what we ate, and once I moved out that wasn’t the case anymore Thanks, yeah, I’m not completely unhealthy, but it could be better for sure.

Admittedly, most of Cardi's material doesn't do a whole lot for me, but her story/struggles before finally achieving such massive success make me more inclined to root for her anyway (or at least make me less bothered by her chart dominance).
To be fair the whole “Red Pill Blues” era was quite strange at first with all these ‘random’ single releases before the album came out…

Well, I can live with that answer! At least you don’t hate her

I guess things started getting off-track for her when they took forever to decide if "Timebomb" or "Moments" would be the official follow-up to "Talking Body," and then "Cool Girl" kind of killed the Lady Wood era before it could even begin... :x
True. I still think “Queen Of The Clouds” and “Lady Wood” deserved way more attention as they’re really, really good. I know you’re feeling the same about “Blue Lips”, but she herself kinda abandoned that album, while she didn’t do that with the other two. Interesting to see your thoughts about “Cool Girl”, I thought it was quite a nice hit for her and gave her more recognition again

True! Closely followed by “IDGAF” as the most successful 7th or 8th single ever
Ok, Katy’s “Teenage Dream” era may say hi. But other than that I can’t remember a single which became so huge despite being released so late in the era.

Even with it there the whole time, I'm definitely not completely turned off - the track just feels like a step (or two, maybe three) down from "No Tears..." for me.
<3 Aww… I actually feel completely the same! So I don’t ignore that background ‘noise’ on TLIC, but I actually like it somehow. But I completely understand why one wouldn’t like it, and don’t get me wrong, while I really enjoy TLIC, I agree with you that it’s a few steps down compared to “No Tears…”.

Her chances are really big actually, as she’s still so high on my charts and I still love the song so much, so I don’t see it falling down soon. Also because of the missing competition... there were a few big hits, but a really big one is still missing for 2018 so far. As for a tour, I think if she does one, it will be next years, as ‘big’ artists usually announce their tours a year or even more in advance. That would definitely a ‘must-see’ for me, especially after she cancelled her last (and first) concert in Switzerland last year

Well, that’s probably a case of ‘when is a song a single?’. Basically she only released a video for “First Light”, and back in the days she threw out videos all the time, and she still does that for random stuff such as a Greatest Showman medley, an “It Ain’t Me” cover or so. She’s probably not the typical artist who promotes an album, ends with it and moves on. She’s more doing whatever she feels to do and in the end I’m happy she decided to release a video for “First Light”, as it’s one of the most typical Lindsey-tracks on “Brave Enough”.
Regarding your question, yes, I think this is the first time ever an artist gets a number one single from an album which is nearly two years old. It happened every now and then that there’s one doing it a year after the albums release; the biggest gap I found was Lana Del Rey’s “Born To Die”, which debuted in the week 05/2012 and “Dark Paradise” hit #1 on the singles charts in the week 10/2013.

Nice to hear this about “Focus”. I already saw your latest chart and so I knew you’d prefer “No Angel”. Interestingly, the gap is slowly getting bigger for me, with “Focus” becoming the clearer fave of mine.

Yes – a very unexpected re-entry! But I listened to a ‘Best Of Lindsey Stirling’ playlist I’ve created with the best songs of her whole discography last week, and got stuck at “Carol Of The Bells”…

So I see you’re also quoting Blair St. Clair’s “Now Or Never”. What are your thoughts about that one if I may ask?

                                Thank you so much

The new Eleni song definitely isn't on par with "Fuego", but it's a cute summer jam. Boo at the tumble for "Dance for This", though!

7.9/10 already sounds great, but i'm glad it seems you're enjoying "First Light" even more now! It's definitely one of the most typical Lindsey songs on "Brave Enough" and i'm glad she released a video for it.

Agree about "Caramela". As for "Dance To This", i don't know, i'm already quite over it. I hope the album release will get me back into the singles again.

                                    My Charts - week 28/2018 – 12 july 2018 - Bebe and Years & Years smashing
                                    .
                                    • Singles Top40

[spoiler:22ky3nm5]The Top10 remains very strong this week, just as the previous few weeks, where the highest charting songs all could have been atop the charts. One of the unlucky ones was Bebe Rexha, as she stopped at number five so far with her current single “I’m A Mess”, despite owning the top album for the last two weeks. This week she was finally lucky enough and makes a nice jump up 6-1, making “I’m A Mess” her third top hit following “I Got You” and “Home” which Machine Gun Kelly and X Ambassadors. Drag Queen Blair St. Clair is the unlucky one this time, as she’s at the runner-up slot for a second week with “Now Or Never”, followed by “First Light” (1-3), Lindsey Stirling’s chart topper from a week ago.

It’s not the busiest week when it comes to new or re-entries, as only seven of them can be find in the Top40, which isn’t as much as in the last few weeks. One of each entries made the Top10, with a re-entry being the higher one. Following the release of their second album “Palo Santo”, the official singles by Years & Years got a huge boost, with lead track “Sanctify” coming back at #7, which immediately is a new peak for the single. It’s just their second Top10 arrival overall, following the Gold certified “Meteorite”. The highest new entry belongs to German Schlager-Pop princess Vanessa Mai. The singer has collaborated with a German rapper called Olexesh, and their single “Wir 2 immer 1” becomes his first and her sixth chart entry by debuting at #9. It’s also her first entry of her upcoming third album “Schlager”, which will be released next month.

Other new and re-entries this week: Finnish pop-rock group Sunrise Avenue are new at #15 with their new track “Dreamer”, which is on the newly released Gold edition of their latest album “Heartbreak Century”. It’s their tenth chart entry, with all of them being Top20 hits. Just missing out the upper half is a second re-entry for Years & Years, as their single “If You’re Over Me” re-enters the charts at #21 for a second week in the Top40. A few spots lower is “Lucid Dream”, a new entry for Owl City, who gets a second entry for his current album with it. The interesting thing is that the first one – “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” – made it onto the charts over a year ago. Bebe Rexha’s “I Got You” is back at #36 while Goldfrapp own the last debut as “Anymore” is their very first chart entry at #40.

Other talking points this week: Halsey continues with going down one spot each week, as “Strangers” dips 3-4. It’s followed by “No Tears Left To Cry”, which jumps back up 9-5 and becomes Ariana Grande’s ninth Platinum certified single this week and only the fourth release of 2018 to do so. Two other songs are getting an updated certification, which are “Youth” by Shawn Mendes and Khalid (33-34) and “Fuego” by Eleni Foureira (35-35), both going Gold.

Bebe Rexha’s “I’m A Mess” is the biggest climber while OneRepublic and Logic’s “Start Again” drops 22-39 as the biggest loser this week.

                                      • Album Top20

[spoiler:zn7m32p1]Bebe Rexha spends a third consecutive week atop the Album Top20 with her full-length debut album “Expectations”, which becomes just the third release to spend that many weeks at number one this year so far, and even the first pop release to do so. The other two albums which did it were “Sign Of The Dragonhead” by symphonic metal band Leaves’ Eyes (four weeks) and “By The Way, I Forgive You” by Americana-folk singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile (also three weeks). She’s holding off yet another new entry, as her competitor from last week – Blair St. Clair’s “Call My Life” – slips 2-3.

The debut comes from Years & Years who released their long awaited second album called “Palo Santo”, which makes a strong start at #2. Their debut album “Communion” only peaked at #10, but it still wrote history, as it peaked at #10 for three non-consecutive weeks and still stayed in the Top20 for an impressive 13 weeks in total, being the most successful album with a two-digit peak. There’s a second new arrival in the Top20, coming from English electronic music duo Goldfrapp. The re-issue of their seventh album “Silver Eye” becomes their very first notation ever at #6.

There are also two re-entries at the bottom of the charts, and both are rather surprising ones, as both didn’t have a good performance on the charts so far but get a second chance now. The first is Owl City’s “Cinematic”, which returns to #17, with the other being Namika’s “Que walou” which is back at #19.

Other talking points this week: Shawn Mendes’ self-titled album goes Gold, being his first certified album ever. Meanwhile, The Carter’s “Everything Is Love” drops 9-18 in its third week after a very good start.

I'm not sure if we've gotten any further confirmation from official sources, aside from what the developers said during those question-and-answer sessions, but only Gen I Pokémon have appeared in all of the trailers and gameplay footage shown so far They might make it possible to transfer over cross-Gen evolutions from GO, but there hasn't been any actual evidence for that yet...

You’re still playing GO, do you? I also belong to the people who gave up on it very quickly, but then I’m not someone who is ‘on the way’ that often and if then it’s with my car so I wouldn’t be able to catch lots of Pokémon.
Yeah, if you had to go out of your way/change your daily routine just to find opportunities to play GO, it totally makes sense that you'd lose interest quickly. I generally walk (or take public transportation) whenever possible, so GO gameplay fit into my lifestyle pretty perfectly.

My highest one – Pikachu – is still only level 45 Side note: I wtf’ed a bit when Arcanine used Reflect. A move I didn’t see coming at all!
So disrespectful to your team's efforts They fought their hardest for you, even over-coming a serious level disadvantage, and you instantly forget the whole ordeal. Kidding aside, it sounds like you've been really chugging along, with only Giovanni and the Elite Four/Champion left! I'm especially interested to hear how Let's Go will feel for you, since Yellow will still be so fresh in your mind...

Anyways, yeah, I think Football may be the most popular in Switzerland, but I think Tennis would be second due to King Roger
So there's a lot of German cultural influence in Switzerland, beyond just sports and TV? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to life in Switzerland, so I might be asking some very obvious questions here Ha, all hail King Roger...or is it more like Daddy Roger for you? ;)

I definitely don't hate her My only real problem/concern with her was when she defended some of the homophobic sh*t her husband's said...but I don't want to hold his words against her too much, and I can understand the temptation to defend the person you love, even if they've done some distasteful sh*t.

I know you’re feeling the same about “Blue Lips”, but she herself kinda abandoned that album, while she didn’t do that with the other two. Interesting to see your thoughts about “Cool Girl”, I thought it was quite a nice hit for her and gave her more recognition again
I never really got into it myself, and it flopped pretty hard (or at least under-performed) on the charts I follow most often (US, UK)...but after checking Wikipedia, it looks like it did out-peak "Talking Body" in several other markets I can't bring myself to blame the amazing "True Disaster" for de-railing her career, though...

Sadly, "IDGAF" was pretty much ignored in the US (No. 49 on the Hot 100), but I know it maintained her "New Rules" momentum pretty well basically everywhere else in the world. Ah, "Teenage Dream" is a great example, though I'd say "New Rules" was bigger than "The One That Got Away" (and then the TD re-release singles don't feel like a totally fair comparison).

It happened every now and then that there’s one doing it a year after the albums release; the biggest gap I found was Lana Del Rey’s “Born To Die”, which debuted in the week 05/2012 and “Dark Paradise” hit #1 on the singles charts in the week 10/2013.

I actually just checked it out last week thanks to the link you provided here! All of the story and humor in the video definitely overshadow the song itself, but it still sounded pretty good!

Woah - props for this unexpected plot twist! I definitely wasn't expecting "I'm A Mess" to rebound all the way to No. 1 after that 5-5-6 run so far - unless there was a recent video release or epic performance that I missed? Admittedly, I haven't been playing the song much after it didn't impress me much when it first dropped, but this might inspire me to re-visit it this week...

I generally walk (or take public transportation) whenever possible, so GO gameplay fit into my lifestyle pretty perfectly.
Ah yeah, it makes a lot more sense if you’re generally walking anyway. Of course there’s still the possibility to walk around for the game itself, but it never impressed me as much as it would have been worth it walking around to catch Pokémon.

I know! To be fair, the battle against Sabrina was quite easy which is why I don’t remember much of it. Hmm… good question! Actually I would say no. The influence mainly comes from TV, like ‘The Voice Of Germany’ or other casting shows usually have an even bigger effect on our market than our own casting shows. But other than this ‘TV influence’, I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of German cultural influence.

Good! Ah yeah. Ariana just had something similar when she defended her fiancé who made a joke about the Manchester bombing. This really can affect an artist, as in Ariana’s case I’m currently a bit irritated and don’t know how I should think about her. In Cardi’s case I’m just enjoying the music and I’m not a ‘fan’-fan, so this didn’t bother me that much. But I get your point.

Haha… I just experienced the other way; I always thought “Talking Body” already bombed, but I just found out it was a Top20 in the UK and the US But yeah, “Cool Girl” was actually a nice-sized hit for her and even when it peaked low in many countries, it showed some impressive longevity in many of them as it was a streaming hit. But yeah, “True Disaster” really was a true disaster commercially, which I still am shocked about as it’s one of my favorite songs on “Lady Wood”

Ah yes, of course it’s not the fairest comparison, but it was the only era I remembered that had so many singles

No, you’ve missed nothing. Well, there was a performance I’d nearly call epic and I only discovered around a week ago, but that wasn’t the reason for that climb. It simply was real tight in the whole Top10 during the last month, most of them were contenders for #1 and last week, the competition was a little bit weaker and Bebe finally made it.

“Meteorite” peaked at #3, this was its chartrun: 25-28-31-32-27-18-*3*-6-7-7-8-11-14-21-25-26-33-Out
It took some time to click with me but ended up as a very successful hit.

                                            Thank you

[spoiler:2xigcn1b]It’s a fantastic week for Ariana Grande, as the singer has released the second official single of her upcoming fourth studio album “Sweetener”, and the single not only got a huge debut, but it also gave a boost to her other charting songs. The new single is called “God Is A Woman” and debuts atop the charts. In doing so, it becomes her third consecutive number one debut as a lead artist, and already her 13th number one entry in total. It follows-up “The Light Is Coming”, which served as a promo single and rises back up 6-3, while “No Tears Left To Cry” served as the lead single and jumps back up 5-2 in its 13th charting week.

“God Is A Woman” is not the only new arrival this week, as there are six other new entries all over the charts. Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark makes her chart debut and she’s doing it with a pretty impressive entry, as her single “I Said Hi” enters the charts at #7. Two years after scoring their biggest hit to date with the Gold certified “Heathens”, Twenty One Pilots are finally back with new stuff. The duo has announced the release of their upcoming album, set to be released this fall, and the first single “Jumpsuit” gives them a third Top10 hit by arriving at #10.

Other new entries this week: “The Way I Am” serves as the fourth single of Charlie Puth’s latest album “Voicenotes” and becomes yet another Top20 hit for the singer as it’s new at #17. Former One Directioner Niall Horan proves that he’s here to stay, as his soundtrack single “Finally Free” becomes his fifth chart entry as a soloist and third Top20 hit at #19. Danish singer-songwriter MØ kept on releasing songs in the last few years, yet a full-length album never came out. Now it seems to be finally the time, as she announced a release date last week, with the Diplo-assisted “Sun In Our Eyes” being the official lead track. The song starts at #32, which is slightly better than the #37 peak of her last chart entry “Nostalgia” from earlier this year. In total, “Sun In Our Eyes” is already her tenth entry. Last but not least, Norwegian pop newcomer Sigrid is finally getting a follow-up entry to her smash “Strangers”, as the single “High Five” debuts at #37.

Other talking points this week: Bebe Rexha’s former top hit “I’m A Mess” goes down 1-4. With “Bed” by Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande (8-11) and “Solo” by Clean Bandit & Demi Lovato (10-13) two big hits have to leave the Top10. Owl City seems to get a surprise hit after all, as “Lucid Dream” jumps 28-21 after its debut a week ago and nearly becomes his first Top20 hit in three years, as exactly three years ago he debuted and peaked at #16 with the single “Verge”. “Caramela” by Eleni Foureira may also turn out as a surprise hit, as the entry at #30 two weeks ago didn’t look promising, but the song stays at its peak at #26 this week. Her ESC hit “Fuego” falls out of the Top40 this week, just like Equinox’ “Bones”, which means Elina Nechayeva’s “La forza” is the last remaining song from the Eurovision Song Contest on the charts right now (27-30).

Owl City’s “Lucid Dreamer” is the biggest climber this week. Meanwhile, it doesn’t happen that often to see a song falling down 15 places, but this week there are even two songs doing so, which are “Undertaker” by Tarja (19-34) and “Stampede” by Alexander Jean & Lindsey Stirling (24-39), which share the title as the biggest losers this week.

[spoiler:2e65nfhd]The Singles Top40 looks quite exciting, but that’s not really the case on the Album Top20, as only two new entries are in the Top20 and just one of them really made some kind of an impact. But that’s not the biggest surprise considering it’s summer, which is usually the most quiet time of the year when it comes to new releases. Also, with upcoming releases by Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Troye Sivan & Co., it will be much more exciting quite soon.

Bebe Rexha’s “Expectations” spends a fourth consecutive week atop the charts, making it only the second album with more than three weeks at number one this year so far. Years & Years remain at the runner-up position with “Palo Santo” (2-2), while Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark makes her charts debut with her first album “Love Monster” at #3.

Apart from the Top3, there are two releases really worth a mention in the Top10, and that are “My Indigo” and “Cinematic”. The first one climbs 8-5 in its 13th charting week, with all of them being spent inside the upper half of the charts. The album gets certified with Platinum this week, which is the very first time an album which was released in 2018 actually does so. Meanwhile, Owl City may have a reason to celebrate considering the nice boost for his single “Lucid Dream”, but there’s an even bigger reason, as his latest album “Cinematic” makes an even more surprising jump up 17-6. It previously debuted and peaked at #4 a few weeks ago, left the Top20 after only one more week and made its comeback last week.

Other new and re-entries this week: Norwegian pop singer Sigrid has released a new EP called “Raw”, which makes its debut at #11. Her last EP “Don’t Kill My Vibe” made the Top10 earlier this year. Following the release of his new single, Charlie Puth re-enters the charts at #17 with “Voicenotes”.

Other talking points this week: Goldfrapp and Taeyeon leave the upper half, as their albums “Silver Eye” (6-12) and “Something New” (10-16) are both down six places.

3 (6) Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj – The Light Is Coming

WOW This is amazing for Ariana Grande. God is a woman has turned out to be the epic gospel flavoured r'n'b bop that i was hoping for, and the music video is like the gift that keeps on giving. So delighted to see this #1 here but i suspected as much when i knew this was getting released.

How many times has an artist occupied your top 3 in the same week?

                                                    5 (3) Lindsey Stirling – First Light

I must thank you for introducing this to me two weeks ago. I checked out First light after seeing it #1 here and i got goosebumps listening to the song. The violin melody is so enchanting, so emotional and yet so eerie. I just love the way the song progresses and builds right to the very end. This now becomes Lindsey's highest charting single in my chart.

10 (NEW) Twenty One Pilots – Jumpsuit

Heading for my chart this Saturday, although i'm going to a wedding so my chart will be posted earlier than usual, possibly tomorrow night. As for Jumpsuit i checked this out on its day of release as i was curious to hear what these guys would return with. It's definitely got some intriguing moments that keep me interested but i don't see this being #1 worthy.

17 (NEW) Charlie Puth – The Way I Am

Music video effect? Or has this now entered because it's officially the next single. I think Charlie is looking mighty fine in this video. He brought the sex appeal on this one. It's also his best single since How long.

19 (NEW) Niall Horan – Finally Free

Aww, you sure know how to make me happy. So pleased to see Niall making the top 20. I wasn't sure how you would react to this song but for me, it's just such an enjoyable uplifting pop song which sounds perfect for an animated film.
