Bubbling Under

Lady Gaga also still owns the Bubbling Under chart, though two of her tracks have to leave the chart this week with Replay (ex #9) and Fun Tonight (ex #10) falling out, making room for some new songs that were released this week but failed to get onto the main chart. But first things first with Lady Gaga, who tops the Bubbling Under chart with Alice for a fifth consecutive week. 911 (2-3), the Blackpink collaboration Sour Candy (6-4) and Enigma (8-9) are her other entries.

Just like on the Album Top20, Lady Gaga’s biggest competition on the Bubbling Under chart were also Nightwish, who keep rising back up with Music (3-2). It’s still their only entry on the chart.

There are three new entries that are all newly released singles that made some kind of impression, but not a big enough one to make it onto the Singles Top40. Australian hit maker and former ESC contestant Guy Sebastian currently sits at #1 with his new song Standing With You on the iTunes chart in his home country. The track was close to the main chart as well but ends up at #5 on the Bubbling Under chart now. He’s not far above Hurts and their new single Suffer that debuts at #8. The duo will release their fifth studio album called Faith later this year. Last but not least, Melanie Martinez’ new single Fire Drill makes it to #10.

Kygo & Kim Petras’ Broken Glass (5-6) and Keiino’s Take Me Home (4-7) are still charting as well and complete the Top10.

Ah, I understand. Did the situation get a little bit better these days? Because from what I hear / read I feel like the situation is still pretty bad in the US

More stores/businesses have re-opened, but apparently cases have been spiking again lately, so the re-opening process might have to slow down again (or even reverse) Thankfully, no one I know has tested positive yet. How are things going for you (and Switzerland in general)?

My five most played albums of 2020 so far:

Woah, that lead for Nightwish - almost double Halsey's plays! I love all of our top-album-overlap, though <3 You've hosted most of their Survivors too (which made me even more excited to participate).

Yeah, it's shocking how even "So Am I" never made an entry. But "Kings & Queens" just started to take off on iTunes & Spotify in the US, so fingers crossed it may become her second chart entry

Yeah, I really thought "So Am I" had at least entered the Hot 100 at some point - but it looks like they might actually push "Kings & Queens" in the US now! **Fingers crossed** It's still reaching new heights in the UK too!

Do we? ... just kidding! Oh no, I think TikTok is awful to be honest. Do you or your partner have an account there?
Hm, very tough, but "Physical" has become my favorite song on the album followed by "Hallucinate" and "Break My Heart".

Awful, eh? We don't have accounts, but I've seen some funny ones that people linked/sent me. It definitely seems targeted at high schoolers (and younger), but there's some cute Animal Crossing, pop diva, etc ones on there (maybe some fun Pokémon ones too...?)

Somehow I never realized that "Chromatica" is Lady Gaga's first album without a ballad and I'm totally here for that! Though it looks like we don't have the same faves for this album, as "Plastic Doll" and "1000 Doves" are among my least faves while "Alice" is by far the best song for me and among Gaga's best songs ever actually. It's great that she's finally back to her strength with "Chromatica"!

Well, it keeps things interesting that we're spinning a lot of the same albums, but drawn to different tracks on them Chromatica has blown past Sawayama to become my most-played album of 2020 now (though those short interludes definitely help it accumulate Scrobbles extra quickly).

So, so happy about that!! And don't worry, it's the same for me, checking charts out without leaving a comment most of the times lately. I'm actually pretty sure you would enjoy "Symptoms" considering you enjoy "Lemons" this much.

I did indeed, so thanks again for the recommedation! "Vibrations" is especially relatable: "hangin' on the couch on a Friday night, yeah we can take a break, warmin' up some Thai in the microwave..." I'm generally more of a homebody (especially now thanks to COVID), and we order Thai amost every week Overall, Symptoms is a really easy, consistent listen (no distracting duds, not too lengthy/bloated). I appreciate the ways she acknowledges her anxities/various mental health struggles across the album.

"Break My Heart" has 210 points and a song needs 250 points to be certified with Gold, so it's not too far away and a boost (like a concert effect, for example) could push it there. "Don't Start Now" is close as well by the way, with 224 points.

Sadly, I don't think Dua (or anyone) will be able to benefit from that in the near future Maybe a Survivor effect...?

• Congrats to Lindsey on her 20th No. 1 It's awesome that she's still managing to put out high-quality videos and promote Artemis now.
• Lovin' that strong start for Blackpink! I wasn't sold on "How You Like That" at first, and I still think the chorus might get old for me fast, but the pre-chorus is constantly stuck in my head: "ni du nuneul bomyeo I'll kiss you goodbyYyYyee..." All the hype around their comeback is contagious too.
• Glad to see "Rain On Me" staying strong inside your Top 5 (and that VERY impressive run for Chromatica too)!
• I need to check out Selena's new collaboration, but it's a little annoying that she's bothering with that and not promoting Rare If Lindsey can put out videos like "Between Twilight" and find ways to keep pushing Artemis these days, surely Selena could come up with something to keep her album (that came out more recently than Aretmis) afloat. The Rarera basically crashed-and-burned (even with a re-release).

I'm sorry to hear about the situation getting worse again. Unfortunately, it's getting worse over here again, but probably just because they re-opened all things way too quickly. Even clubs were allowed out of a sudden a few weeks ago, and now mostly young people don't care about the virus at all and there are so many party goers here, more than before the lockdowns and the clubs don't really care about the safety either. For me it's very much back to normal though, but it wasn't much different during the lockdown anyway. I also know no one who has tested positive, though I myself already had symptoms, got sick and had to take a test a few weeks ago, but it was negative...

Lady Gaga is coming fast, as "Chromatica" already has over 1,100 plays in my library now, with Nightwish having over 1,600. I'm just so happy Lady Gaga had to push back her release, because hers was supposed to come out on the same day as Nightwish's album, and I'm not sure if I would have adored both the same when they would have been released in the same week... Anyways, I love how we share some of our most played albums of the year so far And yes, I've hosted a few survivors lately of albums that I knew you would enjoy as well <3 Has there been another album you've played a lot in the last few weeks?

Me too! At least it got certified with Gold despite no entry. But yeah, "Kings & Queens" is still rising in several countries, so I'm not mad she pushed her new single back in favor of K&Q's performance. Hmm... I'm not sure, but have you heard "Salt" as well?

Yeah, awful, because there are tons of toxic posts and even though I only "have" to watch it with my partner, that's already getting too much for me. There are some funny videos, but also way too many videos that make me feel bad and I know others way feel the same. It puts an even bigger pressure on people than other social platforms IMO.

YASSS!! So happy to hear you didn't just check "Symptoms" out, but actually enjoyed it <3 It's her first record where she wrote the lyrics by herself, and I think those are the strongest part of the album. It's very relatable. Also been bopping to the lyrics of "Vibrations" you've mentioned, because I'm also more of a homebody, so I can relate The clear standout to me personally has always been "Insomnia" though, also because I can relate and because it's just a simple but fantastic bop.

Yeah, I think so too. Plus Dua already would have announced a tour and Switzerland wasn't on that schedule, so I don't think she would add a date over here if she can finally start to tour again. The survivor sadly won't have an effect

Ok, first of all: So glad to see that the small text I'm writing is not for nothing and someone actually reads stuff from there Yes, agreed. The video is nicely done. Gives me Disney vibes, or even Christmas vibes.

That's also my favorite part of "How You Like That" and keeps appearing in my head Interestingly, I was in love with the song right on the first spin, so it will be interesting if I get over it quickly instead. Have you seen their YouTube views? They're insane!

Lady Gaga's definitely on a roll again. Next week, Chromatica will already surpass the points "A Star Is Born" got during its whole chartrun.

Honestly, you wouldn't miss out too much if you don't check Selena's new song out. I don't even know if it's the music, her LYTLM performance, her way of (not) promoting or everything together, but Selena has been falling hard on my most favorite artists list lately.

For me The Fame, The Fame Monster & Born This Way are all superior so it's currently resting something with the other albums. I wonder where Alice would have charted if it had been issued as a single? So many weeks at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart!

Yes, Joanne did actually six weeks at #1, though Artpop, The Fame and The Fame Monster were still more successful overall. All of her albums including C2C and ASIB topped my weekly chart though. Ugh, that's really tough to say... I think she'll never top TF/TFM for me, so it's currently probably just behind those two There never was a proper studio album by hers that I disliked though, I also loved BTW, Artpop and Joanne, but they have way more fillers or songs I skip these days compared to Chromatica. And yes, Alice would have been a huge hit. I think it would have dethroned Rain On Me and stayed at #1 until this week, getting dethroned by Lindsey Stirling's Between Twilight. So four weeks at #1, what would have been Gaga's longest run at #1 on My Charts Is Alice also among your faves on the album?

And yes again, big survivor effect for Grimes. Funny enough, I'm playing it right now while typing this <3 Really re-discovered it lately and it still sounds flawless tbh. Can't wait to see if she does it on your charts... really need to catch up with other personal charts on the forum

Singles Top40

The three most successful songs from a week ago were all new entries and all of them were very strong, so it’s less surprising to see the same three songs also ruling the charts this week, just in a slightly different order. Swedish / Danish Heavy Metal band Amaranthe had the third highest new arrival last week, but were a clear leader this time, as their track Viral rises 3-1. Viral becomes Amaranthe’s third top hit following That Song in 2016 and 365 in 2018, with all three songs being the lead singles to their albums and with 365 also having moved 3-1 in its first two weeks. It’s already the 18th number one hit in 2020 and fourth from the Rock genre following Within Temptation’s Entertain You and Nightwish’s Noise & How’s The Heart?.

K-Pop group Blackpink are still going strong with How You Like That, which stays at #2 for a second week. It’s followed by Lindsey Stirling’s Between Twilight, which dips 1-3 this week. The violinist is also still charting with Sleepwalking, also dipping two spots (12-14).

The highest new arrival of the week comes in at #4. The track is called Ego Death and is by Ty Dolla $ign featuring Kanye West, FKA twigs and Skrillex – all artists who previously made the charts, but never really stood out so far. While this is Ty Dolla $ign’s ninth charts appearance overall, it’s shockingly his first as a lead artist, and second highest peaking one overall, as his collaboration with Fifth Harmony on Work From Home peaked at #3 in early 2016. Kanye West only made the charts twice in the past, with his own track Stronger (#9 in 2007) and on Rihanna’s FourFiveSeconds (#8 in 2015), making Ego Death his highest charts appearance ever. It’s the same scenario for FKA twigs, who previously peaked at #27 with Good To Love in 2016 and at #13 with Sad Day in 2019, and for Skrillex as well, who previously made it to #19 with Where Are Ü Now in 2016 and at #27 with Face My Fears alongside Hikaru Utada in 2019.

Other new and re-entries this week: American Rock band Evanescence is still preparing the release of their upcoming new album The Bitter Truth, as they just put out its second single called The Game Over. The lead track Wasted On You debuted and peaked at #6 around three months ago and The Game Is Over does similarly by arriving at #7. It’s their lucky 13th chart entry, with all of them having peaked inside the Top10. R&B newcomer Doja Cat really seems to be one of the biggest newcomers in 2020, as she already scored two Gold certified hits with Boss Bitch and Say So earlier this year, scored another Top20 notation on The Weeknd’s remix for In Your Eyes and gets a fourth entry this week as Like That enters the charts at #20. It was chosen as the next single of Doja Cat’s current album Hot Pink and features Gucci Mane, who also gets his fourth chart entry with it. Following some exposure on the third season of the Netflix hit series Dark, Agnes Obel returns to #25 with Broken Sleep. There are further debuts for Mike Shinoda’s Open Door (#27), Louane’s Donne-moi ton coeur (#29) and Guy Sebastian’s Standing With You (#30). The latter made his entry on the Bubbling Under chart a week ago and successfully makes it to the main chart now.

Eurovision entries this week: Go_A’s Solovey (25-23) and Ulrikke’s Attention (22-24) hold on well just outside the Top20, while with Efendi’s Cleopatra falling out of the Top40 (ex #38), Gjon’s Tears’ Répondez-moi is already the final Eurovision 2020 entry on the charts this week (33-37). Further Eurovision related entries in the Top40 are Eleni Foureira’s Yayo (13-15) and Keiino & Electric Fields’ Would I Lie (20-28).

Other talking points this week: There are three new Gold certifications this week, with Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande’s Rain On Me snatching one of them. The track holds up incredibly well, only dipping 4-5 in its seventh week. Robin Schulz feat. Alida’s In Your Eyes (30-31) and Aly & AJ’s Joan Of Arc On The Dance Floor (29-34) are the other two newly certified singles, with Aly & AJ getting their very first certification ever.

Amaranthe’s Viral, Blair St. Clair feat. Rayvon Owen’s Space Between (8-6) and Go_A’s Solovey all share the title as the biggest climbers this week, while Maria Mena drops 26-39 with Lies (They Never Leave Their Wives) as the biggest loser this week.

With this being a quiet week when it comes to new releases, Lady Gaga easily gets a sixth consecutive week at number one with her album Chromatica. The album takes the lead as the longest running number one album of 2020 with the longest run atop the charts since Lindsey Stirling’s Artemis in the second half of 2019. Chromatica also ties Joanne as Gaga’s longest running number one album, though Joanne needed two runs atop to get to six weeks.

Nightwish were Lady Gaga’s biggest competition for a third week in a row, as they still stay at #2 with Human. :||: Nature. for a lucky 13th week in the Top5. They’re followed by Grimes, who also sits at #3 for another week with Miss Anthropocene. The Top3 is currently quite strong and all three albums will definitely end up very high on the Year-End Charts 2020.

Re-entries this week: There may be no new arrivals at all, but three albums were able to re-enter the charts this week, with Danish singer-songwriter Agnes Obel making the biggest returns, as her latest album Myopia is back at #12. Its single Broken Sleep also re-enters the Singles Top40 this week due to its role in the final season of the Netflix series Dark. The other two re-entries are both by Swedish / Danish Heavy Metal group Amaranthe. While their current single Viral tops the Singles Top40, their albums Helix (2018, back at #13) and Maximalism (2016, back at #18) benefit from that success.

Other talking points this week: Apart from the three re-entries, there’s actually not a lot going on, also no new certifications or big movements on the charts. German Symphonic Metal band Beyond The Black benefits from the quiet week and get a new peak with Horizons, that climbs 5-4. Ashley Tisdale’s Symptoms is also rising up the charts (7-6), tying its position from the very first week of 2020 as her highest peak in 2020 so far. Drag Star Jujubee gets a new peak with Good Juju: Vol. 1 (9-8), so does The Black Eyed Peas with Translation (14-11).

Bubbling Under

Lady Gaga also still owns the Bubbling Under chart, spending a sixth consecutive week at #1 with the Chromatica album opener Alice. Gaga’s biggest competition still comes from Nightwish, who spends another week at #2 with the Human. :||: Nature. album opener Music.

There were three debuts on the chart last week and just those three songs also leave the chart again this time. Lady Gaga therefor has an additional three songs on the chart with 911 (3-4), the Blackpink collaboration Sour Candy (4-6) and Enigma (9-10). Kygo & Kim Petras’ Broken Glass (6-7) and Keiino’s Take Me Home (7-9) are also still charting.

The final three songs are all new entries, one being a new releases from this week and the other two being album tracks. The highest one is Black Eyed Peas & Shakira’s Girl Like Me at #3. The Black Eyed Peas are currently climbing up the album charts with their latest release Translation and while the album hasn’t get an entry on the Singles Top40 so far, it finally gets an entry on the Bubbling Under chart now. German Symphonic Metal band Beyond The Black do have an entry on the Singles Top40 with Human, but that one is far from being a big hit. Their album Horizons still does well on the Album Top20 and gets a first entry on the Bubbling Under chart as well, as Wounded Healer debuts at #5. The song features Elize Ryd, the lead singer of fellow Rock band Amaranthe, who top the Singles Top40 this week. The final new entry goes to Skylar Grey and her new single Sunscreen at #8.

Singles Top40

Spoiler!

Seven new entries made the Singles Top40 this week and all of them reach the Top20, but none of them was strong enough to top Amaranthe, who spend a second week at #1 with Viral. The track becomes their first chart topper with multiple weeks at number one and fifth doing so in 2020, following Noise by Nightwish (5 weeks), Kings & Queens by Ava Max (4 weeks), Sleepwalking by Lindsey Stirling (2 weeks) and Rain On Me by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande (3 weeks). While Blackpink’s How You Like That dips 2-3, the Top3 gets completed by the highest new arrival at #2, coming from Kygo and Kim Petras. The Norwegian DJ and producer and the German songstress teamed up on the song Broken Glass, that already has been a hit on the Bubbling Under chart for the past five weeks and finally moved onto the main list due to the video release. It’s tied with Carry On (with Rita Ora) as Kygo’s second highest peaking chart entry, only behind the #1 hit It Ain’t Me (with Selena Gomez), and also marks the second highest appearance for Kim Petras, who topped the charts with Do Me in the first week of 2020. This year really seems to be Kim’s breakthrough year, as she also scored further entries with Icy (#3, Gold), Reminds Me (#8) and Malibu (#10).

Other new entries this week: The second highest new entry goes to Swedish hitmaker Zara Larsson and her new single Love Me Land, that starts at #4 this week. Zara’s international debut album So Good was released in early 2017 and has become a huge hit back then, also having scored several hits such as Lush Life (#1 in 2015, 16 weeks on the chart, certified with Gold), Never Forget You with MNEK (#1 in 2015, 51 weeks, 2x Platinum), I Would Like (#9 in 2016, 17 weeks, Gold), Symphony with Clean Bandit (#1 in 2017, 38 weeks, Platinum) and Only You (#2 in 2017, 17 weeks, Platinum). Ever since moving on from that era, she has struggled to get another hit though, with the #11 peaking All The Time being her most successful song in the past three years. This may change now, as Love Me Land not only has the best peak since Ruin My Life debuted at #2 in late 2018 (but only spent four weeks in the Top40 overall), but the track also has everything to be another hit for the Swedish singer. The third highest new arrival is not far behind, with Dua Lipa debuting at #6 with Hallucinate, the fourth official single from her latest album Future Nostalgia. It’s immediately peaking higher than the third single Break My Heart (#7), but lower than Don’t Start Now (#3) and Physical (#7). Overall, it’s already the fifth chart entry from the album, as its title track was released as a promo single and peaked at #13. Meghan Trainor makes the new entries in the Top10 complete, as her new single Make You Dance debuts at #10.

Three more entries to go, two Eurovision related ones and one by someone who has been a huge hitmaker. First the latter, who comes from Katy Perry. The singer will release her long awaited new album Smile next month and just put out its title track as a promo single. The song debuts at #17, which is higher than fellow singles Small Talk (#36) and Daisies (#26) but lower than Never Really Over (#3) and Harleys In Hawaii (#14). The Eurovision related final two new entries are both by artists who would have represented their countries at the contest this year, with Bulgarian singer Victoria being new at #15 with Alright. while Norwegian singer Ulrikke debuts at #19 with What Would You Do For Love?.

Other Eurovision entries this week: Besides the new entries for Victoria and Ulrikke, the latter is still charting with Attention (24-27) and is joined by Go_A’s Solovey (23-28) and Gjon’s Tears’ Répondez-moi (37-36) as the other remaining chart entries from this years contest. Répondez-moi even gets certified with Platinum this week. Eleni Foureira’s Yayo (15-21) and Keiino & Electric Fields’ Would I Lie (28-40) are the only other Eurovision related entries on the Singles Top40.

Other talking points this week: Even though Between Twilight already drops 3-9, Lindsey Stirling has still enough reasons to celebrate this week as Sleepwalking gets certified with Platinum (14-16). This is already Lindsey’s 17th song being certified with Platinum or even more, with her debut entry Crystallize still being her highest certified song to date (4x Platinum). Nightwish also get a new certification, as Noise goes 2x Platinum (8-11). Last but not least, Mike Shinoda’s Open Door benefits from the album release and jumps 27-23, surpassing the #24 peak of Fine from 2019, that has been his only other solo chart entry to date.

Mike Shinoda’s Open Door is the biggest climber this week. Meanwhile, even though 13 is usually a lucky number, it isn’t for three artists this week as The Game Is Over by Evanescence (7-20), 9 Lives by Blair St. Clair (13-26) and Forgive Me by Chloe x Halle (22-35) all fall down 13 spots each and share the title as the biggest losers.

Album Top20

Even though there are two new arrivals on the Album Top20 this week, it’s still a very quiet week overall and none of those new releases were heavily anticipated, one of them even debuts in the lower half of the chart. So the strong Top3 repeats themselves for a third week, with Lady Gaga’s Chromatica at #1, Nightwish’s Human. :||: Nature. at #2 and Grimes’ Miss Anthropocene at #3. Lady Gaga gets a seventh week atop the charts, making Chromatica her longest running number one album ever. It’s also worth a mention that her previous release – the soundtrack for A Star Is Born – spent seven weeks in the Top20 in total.

The higher debut goes to Mike Shinoda, who has been popular for being a part of the band Linkin Park. The musician already dropped a solo debut album called Post Traumatic two years ago and scored some nice success with it, as it peaked at #2 and spent 7 weeks in the Top20. His new release is called Dropped Frames, Vol. 1 and enters the charts at #4.

Other new entries this week: There are no re-entries and just one more new arrival, that belongs to British singer-songwriter Passenger. His new surprise album is called Patchwork and only makes it to #13 this week. It’s already his sixth appearance on the Album Top20 since making his deubt with Whispers back in 2014, having scored an entry in each year from 2016 onwards. Patchwork, however, becomes his first album not arriving in the Top10 and it’s also very unlikely seeing this climbing up the charts in the upcoming weeks. With both of those new entries, 2020 already had 100+ different albums on the Album Top20. A total of 196 different albums made it onto the charts in 2019.

Other talking points this week: Ashley Tisdale reaches the Top5 for the first time in 2020 as Symptoms rises 6-5. Since the new release schedule seems to be getting busier in the upcoming weeks, it’s likely to see the album going back down soon. Jujubee also benefits from the quiet time and reaches a new peak with Good Juju, Vol. 1 for another week, rising 8-6. Meanwhile, The Black Eyed Peas still have no entry on the Singles Top40, but they just get a hit on the Bubbling Under chart with the Shakira assisted Girl Like Me that also pushes their latest album Translation up the charts. The set debuted at #16 three weeks ago and jumps into the Top10 for its very first time this week (11-9). A rather unexpected and unusual chart run so far. With Myopia by Agnes Obel (12-11) and Helix (13-12) & Maximalism (18-17) by Amaranthe, all three re-entries from a week ago rise one spot each.

Bubbling Under

Lady Gaga still slays on the Bubbling Under chart, but after spending six weeks at number one, she has to make room for aonther artist. The Black Eyed Peas and Shakira teamed up on Girl Like Me, already debuted at #3 a week ago and jump 3-1 this week. If the song gets released as an official single, it’s definitely going to be a nice hit for all involved artists and considering both having struggled scoring hits lately, this definitely comes completely unexpected.

Lady Gaga is still charting with Alice (1-2), 911 (4-4), Sour Candy with Blackpink (6-5) and Enigma (10-9), plus she gets another entry from her current album Chromatica as Babylon is new at #8. Nightwish’s Music is also holding up really well and dips 2-3.

With Skylar Grey’s Sunscreen (ex #8) & Keiino’s Take Me Home (ex #9) leaving the chart and Kygo & Kim Petras’ Broken Glass (ex #7) moving onto the main chart, there are a further two debuts on the list this week. The highest of all new entries belongs to Grimes, who arrives at #7 with 4ÆM from her latest album Miss Anthropocene. Shockingly, the song has never made the charts so far and does so due to the album having a second wind when it comes to success, this being a quiet week and the fact that the track got played on a home party last weekend. The third and final new entry is Life’s A Mess by Juice WRLD and Halsey at #10.

Beyond The Black & Elize Ryd’s Wounded Healer completes the Top10 (5-6).

Singles Top40

It’s a pretty normal chart week with several new and re-entries all over the Top40, some climbers within the chart, some stable movements but also several bigger drops. Two female Pop singers who struggled to get the same success with their latest releases as they used to do are back on the thrones and have the biggest impact on this weeks Singles Top40, with one of them being Zara Larsson. The Swedish singer had the second biggest new entry with Love Me Land last week and rather surprisingly, the song rises 4-1 to become her fourth chart topper this week. Her international debut album So Good spawned three number one hits between 2015 - 2017 with Lush Life, Never Forget You and Symphony, while the latter even topped the Year-End Charts in 2017. She nearly scored another top hit with the albums final single Only You (#2) and ever since moving on from that album, she may still have scored some entries with nice peaks such as Ruin My Life (#2 in 2018), Don’t Worry Bout Me (#8 in 2019) or Wow and All The Time (both #11 in 2019), but none of these songs really stood out or showed the same longevity as the chart entries from So Good. Love Me Land may change this as it’s not only her highest peaking chart entry in over three years, but also her first song not to fall down in its second week since then, too.

The other female Pop singer who struggled to get hits in the past few years but finally makes some bigger impact again is British songstress Ellie Goulding. Except for Flux (#1 in 2019), all of her other eight chart entries since the Delirium era were clearly less successful than most chart entries she has scored previously. Even though this doesn’t really change this week, Ellie’s new album Brightest Blue still has a big impact and is responsible for four re-entries: Flux at #13, Power at #22, Worry About Me with blackbear at #25 and Hate Me with Juice WRLD at #31.

Other new entries this week: Drag superstars Jujubee and Blair St. Clair are both part of the currently running fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, All Stars, and both of them already scored some chart entries lately. They have teamed up on a song called Tonight Or Forever now that serves as the first single of Jujubee’s upcoming Good Juju: Vol. 2 EP and it becomes a success from the get-go by arriving at #2 this week. This is the highest appearance for Jujubee, who is still charting with Don’t Wanna Love (12-16), while it’s tied with Now Or Never (#2 in 2018) as Blair’s second highest peaking entry. Blair still has two further chart entries with Space Between (5-10) and the former #1 hit 9 Lives (26-30). Other new entries this week are for To Be Young by Anne-Marie and Doja Cat at #14, Funny by Zedd and Jasmine Thompson at #15, March March by The Chicks (formerly known as Dixie Chicks) at #23 and What’s Love Got To Do With It by Kygo and Tina Turner at #32.

Eurovision related entries this week: Gjon’s Tears’ Répondez-moi leaves the Top40 (ex #36), leaving Go_A’s Solovey (28-34) and Ulrikke’s Attention (27-35) as the final two songs on the charts that would have been part of this years Eurovision Song Contest. Eleni Foureira’s Yayo (21-24) and Victoria’s Alright. (15-29) are the final two contest related entries on the charts.

Other talking points this week: Kygo & Kim Petras’ Broken Glass dips 2-3 this week, still being a frontrunner when it comes to the top spot. Amaranthe’s Viral falls 1-4 after two weeks at #1, while Dua Lipa’s Hallucinate was also close to the top and rises 6-5. Norwegian singer Ulrikke would have represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest this year and despite the cancellation due to the pandemic, she still scored a hit with Attention. The follow-up single What Would You Do For Love? found its way to the Top40 a week ago and becomes her second Top10 hit now by jumping 19-8. Meghan Trainor also improves with Make You Dance (10-9), slightly benefitting from the re-release of her latest album Treat Myself. Last but not least and even though Ashley Tisdale’s Lemons drops 13-19 this week, the song gets certified with Gold as the only new certification for a single this week.

Ulrikke’s What Would You Do For Love? is the biggest climber while Katy Perry’s Smile is the biggest loser this week, falling 17-39.

Album Top20

Ellie Goulding is back! It’s been a while since the British singer has released her last album - in fact, Delirium came out nearly five years ago and debuted & peaked atop the album charts in late 2015. Ever since moving on from that release, the singer has struggled a bit on the Singles Top40, but her fourth studio album Brightest Blue thankfully still didn’t disappoint and easily tops the charts this week as her fifth entry overall following Halcyon (#1 for 9 weeks, 2012), Bright Lights (#4 in 2013), Halcyon Days (#1 for 1 week, 2013) and the already mentioned Delirium (#1 for 5 weeks, 2015). Ellie pushes Lady Gaga away who dips 1-2 with Chromatica after an impressive seven weeks stay atop the charts. Even though there have been several new releases that made the Album Top20 in the last few weeks, Ellie Goulding is the first big new release since Gaga and it’s expected to see several more anticipated releases coming out soon. With that said, Ellie also has a re-entry as Delirium returns to #15 this week.

Other new and re-entries this week: Besides Ellie Goulding’s new and re-entries, there are a further two new arrivals and one more re-entry. The second highest new entry is a rather special one, as it’s RuPaul’s album American, that was originally released in 2017. Since there are currently two new seasons from the show on air with the first season of Canada’s Drag Race and the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, All Stars, plus the fact that there hasn’t been a big new release since Lady Gaga’s Chromatica two months ago, I decided to check out this album by the legendary Drag Queen for the first time and hence it finally makes it to the Album Top20 at #3. It’s RuPaul’s first appearance on the album charts, but she already scored five entries on the Singles Top40 including the #1 hits Kitty Girl and Super Queen. The third and last new arrival of the week is Gaslighter, the long awaited comeback album by The Chicks - or formerly known as Dixie Chicks. The Country trio hasn’t released new music in over a decade and therefor Gaslighter becomes their very first chart notation on My Charts by debuting at #6. The second re-entry is for Treat Myself, the latest album by Meghan Trainor. The singer has put out a deluxe edition with some additional songs from the album that makes it re-enter the chart at #9.

Other talking points this week: Grimes’ Miss Anthropocene (3-4) and Nightwish’s HUMAN. :||: NATURE. (2-5) are still holding up well, but it’s expected to see them drop further down the charts as there are some more exciting new releases coming in the next few weeks. One of them will be the second edition of Jujubee’s Good Juju, where the first edition dips 6-7 this week. Artemis by Lindsey Stirling (8-11), Horizons by Beyond The Black (7-12) and Translation by the Black Eyed Peas (9-13) all have to leave the upper half this week. Noah Cyrus is about to leave the Top20 completely with The End Of Everything, slipping 16-19. But just before doing so, the set gets certified with Gold this week, making it her first album certification.

Bubbling Under

Ellie Goulding also has a big impact on the Bubbling Under chart, as she owns three new arrivals including the new top hit with Brightest Blue album track How Deep Is Too Deep. Her other two entries are Love I’m Given at #6 and Tides at #8.

There were also a bunch of new releases that didn’t make it to the main chart but appear on the Bubbling Under chart instead, with Troye Sivan’s Easy being the most successful of those and enters the list at #3. Former Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke is new at #5 with the Messiah assisted 500 Veces, Hurts’ debut at #7 with Redemption while Swiss Schlager singer Beatrice Egli has the final new entry with Mini Schwiiz, mini Heimat at #10.

I'm sorry to hear about the situation getting worse again. Unfortunately, it's getting worse over here again, but probably just because they re-opened all things way too quickly. Even clubs were allowed out of a sudden a few weeks ago, and now mostly young people don't care about the virus at all and there are so many party goers here, more than before the lockdowns and the clubs don't really care about the safety either. For me it's very much back to normal though, but it wasn't much different during the lockdown anyway. I also know no one who has tested positive, though I myself already had symptoms, got sick and had to take a test a few weeks ago, but it was negative...

Lady Gaga is coming fast, as "Chromatica" already has over 1,100 plays in my library now, with Nightwish having over 1,600. I'm just so happy Lady Gaga had to push back her release, because hers was supposed to come out on the same day as Nightwish's album, and I'm not sure if I would have adored both the same when they would have been released in the same week... Anyways, I love how we share some of our most played albums of the year so far And yes, I've hosted a few survivors lately of albums that I knew you would enjoy as well <3 Has there been another album you've played a lot in the last few weeks?

OoOh, how are Gaga's and Nightwish's tallies looking now? My biggest albums over the past month or so have still been Chromatica, Sawayama (which had a big resurgence when Akini got into it and sent some tracks to No. 1 on his chart), and HAIM's Women In Music Pt. III (the first album I've ever checked out from them).

Me too! At least it got certified with Gold despite no entry. But yeah, "Kings & Queens" is still rising in several countries, so I'm not mad she pushed her new single back in favor of K&Q's performance. Hmm... I'm not sure, but have you heard "Salt" as well?

Definitely! I haven't heard "Who's Laughing Now?" yet, but I wouldn't mind if she pushed "Salt" again after K&Q in the markets where it didn't do much when it was first released (like the UK and US). "Salt" did really well on your chart, so would you say it's your favorite Ava single so far? Possibly tied with K&Q?

Yeah, awful, because there are tons of toxic posts and even though I only "have" to watch it with my partner, that's already getting too much for me. There are some funny videos, but also way too many videos that make me feel bad and I know others way feel the same. It puts an even bigger pressure on people than other social platforms IMO.

Hmmm, last.fm counts Scrobbles for all of the Chromatica Interludes for me, but there might be something I changed in the site settings that made that possible? I also use an app called QuietScrob to track Scrobbles when I'm playing music on my phone, so that could be why the site counts all the interludes for me. No big change in my Chromatica faves lately, though. (I think it's still all the ones you don't like much Well, aside from "Rain On Me," which we both love).

• OoOh, "Love Me Land" is turning into quite the comback for Zara on your chart! I liked "All The Time" a lot, but I definitely prefer "Love Me Land" to "Wow," at least.
• Beautiful new Top 5 peak for Dua.
• None of the Treat Myself Deluxe Edition tracks are really speaking to me, but "Underwater" is my favorite of the bunch. What a weird, wild journey for that album over the 2+ years since "No Excuses" dropped: releasing a few (unsuccessful) singles, getting delayed, putting out an EP instead with some songs that were originally intended for TM, then finally a full release with a new cover, and now a deluxe edition too.
• Ouch, "Smile" is falling fast, but it's a pretty unremarkable track. Not totally terrible - just feels like a lesser version of other upbeat, playful tunes she's done several times before.
• Hopefully Troye's "Easy" can enter your main chart soon! It's made a much better impression on me than "Take Yourself Home."
• Wow, so Ellie's the one to finally knock Gaga off the Album Chart throne! I'm not loving Brighest Blue as much as a lot of fans (and critics) seem to be but it's interesting how different the album is from almost all of the singles she released between 2018 and now. No wonder she relegated them to a separate disc! "Tides" is probably my favorite new track, so I'm glad it managed to Bubble Under.

Nice debut and reentries for Ellie Goulding this week. I was a huge fan of her first two albums, but then started dropping off when she started having her creative identity crisis (Delirium and beyond). It's interesting that now she even recognises that period as such. Delirium is still a pretty good pop album, but as EG states herself, it doesn't really sound like an Ellie Goulding record.
