  • For some reason, "Fetish" has really connected with me. I've even go as far as to say it's my second favourite single from Selena since she left the Scene (my favourite being "Kill Em with Kindness").

"Woman" is solid, but I need a few more spins to be truly convinced by it. "Get Low" grew on me around the same time as "Fetish".

Ha, you might have a point there. On one hand, I don't have much patience for most "drama"...but things do get stale if people are always agreeable, passive. I guess the goal is to keep a little spice without letting it turn into strife.
That’s definitely true. Well, especially in phases where the emotions are really strong (and messy) I try to think of it from a neutral way. It can help a bit, but it doesn’t all the time.

Oh okay… well, I’m able to be a drama queen… Anyways, I agree, it has to be a middle thing. I knew a pair who never fought with each other, they were always ‘happy’, and they still broke up in the end, which was shocking, but they even said that this may have been the reason…

Well yeah basically, but it’s okay for me. They both were singles for so long so they are used to each other which is cute, and so far I’m not feeling like a 3rd wheel. I’m sure it’ll be cool to do some stuff together one day.

I feel you there. I've been doing that with Kylie this week (especially her Kiss Me Once album.) I usually try not to get too hung up on the idea of certain songs fitting a certain season, but there's something quite summery about a lot of Kylie's catalog. A lot of perfect pool-lounging tunes.
Sorry for the shock, but I’ve never heard “Ur So Gay”… "Rise" peaked high but fell out fast (5-17-32-40-Out), so it was basically a one week thing.

Sounds plausible, Kylie is really someone who does some nice summer tunes

Thanks. I'm glad to hear I don't come across that way Although I won't lie/pretend if I really don't like a song, I think a place like UKMIX is more fun when you focus on the stuff you DO like (and have in common with others) than trolling the stuff you don't like.

I took one semester of Japanese in college, but I've forgotten about 90% of that (and I wasn't very good at it even back then.) I just know a handful of words/phrases from watching (undubbed) anime.
Haha probably both of it, yeah Well the thing is I often have to drive and during the first three years when you got your driving license, you’re not allowed to drink at all, like zero, so… I need to go out more without the car, though that would be more expensive as we would need to take a taxi…

That’s true. Well, it’s good to say when one doesn’t like a song, but there are some people hating over the same thing over and over again which becomes tiring quite fast…

Oh wow. Japanese is definitely a very interesting language Why did you stop with it if I may ask?

Yeah I think so, or at least I feel like it may be that way Yeah true.

Haha that’s cool. As I said he’s half Filipino, which is a special coincidence cause my ex partner was full Filipino Not that I’ve searched a certain type of guy, it just happened, and everyone around me is always like ‘wait, someone from the Philippines again?!’ Hahaha… nnn… no to the video There’s just a little picture on my facebook page, which is the only one ‘online’. Do you have facebook?

      Speaking of linking...
Yes, Katy’s live vocals are often very shaky and not that good. That performance was really good, I also enjoyed the choreo a lot

Thanks for the link. Watched (/listened) to it earlier today and it’s okay. The original sounds better, and it sounds more like a Daft Punk remix than a Guetta remix…

Yes Oh, interesting pick. I always thought it was too basic somehow. It’s not bad of course, but I prefer “Die Young” and “Crazy Kids” a lot more.

I only count the lead acts when it comes to hit tallies, but she was featured on the chart-topping "No Promises" earlier this year.
Okay so yeah, then I hope “Sorry Not Sorry” will grow on you, would be sad if it would become a flop for her…

      • Ooh...I'm lovin' the diversity that Kesha's serving up between "Prayer" and now "Woman." Definitely has me even more excited for what's in store on Rainbow!
"If I Wasn't Your Daugher" is falling pretty fast for a multi-week-No. 1, yeah?
      • Since I know you've seen the "New Rules" video now, hopefully it'll help the song reverse course here!

      Yet another gratifying chart, Tansike!
I already thought that it may be that way since “Fetish” only had a moderate debut on your charts so far, which was a little surprise to me. Also good to hear you prefer that one to Demi’s track… anyways, maybe the video will change it for you? It just came out yesterday and it’s… weird?!

Same! Only two more weeks until the album drops, I’m really excited

Yes definitely, though Clean Bandit’s “Symphony” shared a same fate (first four weeks at #1, only four more weeks in the whole Top40…)

      It definitely will

      Thanks a lot

That's awesome! I wouldn't rank it that high yet, i still prefer some other songs, especially "Same Old Love", though it's fantastic to hear "Kill Em With Kindness" is your favorite as it's also my favorite 'solo' song from Selena

Nice to hear "Get Low" grew on you, it seems a little bit underrated to me. Also i hope "Woman" will click with you, it's a fun tune

Very glad you like so many tracks this week

          week 30/2017 – 27 july 2017 Lust for Fetish

          • Singles Top40

Selena Gomez spends a second week at number one with “Fetish”, easily defending that spot against Kesha, who still has two high charting entries. They are, however, rising and falling a bit, as now it’s “Praying” (4-2) which is above “Woman” (2-3).

It’s a busier week than lately, as seven new arrivals found their way to the Top40, and two re-entries. The highest new entry immediately makes a new career-best for Belgian musician Loïc Nottet, as his new single “Mud Blood” debuts at #5 as his first Top5 hit. It follows “Rhythm Inside” (#6) and “Million Eyes” (#7), giving him his third straight Top10 peak. One place below is something which got released only a very few hours before something tragic happened… Following “Heavy” and “Good Goodbye”, Linkin Park has chosen “Talking To Myself” as the third output from their latest album “One More Light”. Unfortunately, shortly after the video release, it got announced that frontman Chester Bennington has committed suicide, which is probably also a reason for the high debut, as “Talking To Myself” enters the charts at #6 as their second highest peaking single ever, which remains “Castle Of Glass” (#5, 2013).

While “Life’s About To Get Good” is still charting (26-31), country legend Shania Twain has released a second song from her upcoming studio album “Now”, and the track is called “Poor Me”, debuting and peaking a spot higher than “Life’s About To Get Good” did (#12). Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald also has chosen her next single, and that’s the ballad “Down By The Water”. The song enters the charts at #16, and could end up as her first single to miss the weekly Top10 if it won’t climb any further. Also new in the upper half is “Back To You”, a collaboration between former One Directioner Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals. While this is the first entry for the former and the latter, Bebe already scored a huge hit earlier this year with “I Got You”. Since this is Louis’ first chart entry, all former band members of One Direction now have made at least one entry on my singles charts. Country singer Maren Morris already scored a Gold certified album with her debut “Hero”, but she has yet to score a hit on the singles charts as well, as both singles didn’t perform that well. This may change now, as she debuts at #25 with the third release “I Could Use A Love Song”, which immediately becomes her highest peaking track so far. Last but not least, Sara Hartman makes the new entries complete as her new single “Dance With A Ghost” arrives at #40.

While her singles didn’t perform as strong as she was used to, a new album release by Lana Del Rey is still a quite big event, and so it’s no surprise to see both, “Love” and “Lust For Life”, making some big re-entries on the singles charts this week following the release of her fourth set “Lust For Life”. The lead track “Love” nearly made it back to the Top10, as it re-enters the charts at #11, while the title track makes its return to #13.

The rest of the best: Loreen’s “Body” dips 3-4, Selena Gomez’ “Bad Liar” rises 10-7, Clean Bandit & Marina And The Diamonds’ “Disconnect” falls 5-8 followed by Calvin Harris & Co.’s “Feels” (6-9). The last Top10 entry belongs to Dua Lipa, who takes a surprising leap with “New Rules” and scores her second Top10 hit so far (22-10).

Due to these new and re-entries, there are some bigger drops on the charts this week. Jax Jones’ “Instruction” (7-15), Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry” (8-17) and Tarja’s “An Empty Dream” (9-18) all leave the Top10. Meanwhile, “Lost Girls” by Lindsey Stirling (20-22), “On My Own” by Marina Kaye (15-23), “Bon Appétit” (14-24) and “Swish Swish” (16-29) by Katy Perry, “Don’t Let Me Be Yours” by Zara Larsson (13-26) and “Now Or Never” by Halsey (18-27) all leave the upper half of the charts, with most of them having quite a big loss in positions. Also leaving that part of the charts but with an even bigger drop is Lena’s “If I Wasn’t Your Daughter”. The track may have spent its first three weeks on top and goes Gold this week, it however lacks of longevity now, as it tumbles down 19-34. Its chartrun reminds of the one by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s “Symphony” now, which had a brilliant start too and also lacked longevity (1-1-1-1-5-10-22-37-Out).

Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” is the biggest climber while Lena’s “If I Wasn’t Your Daughter” is the biggest loser this week.

          • Album Top20

The expected happened and after an incredible chartrun atop the Album Top20, Halsey’s “hopeless fountain kingdom” slips 1-2 in its eighth charting week. New on top is the newest release by Lana Del Rey, called “Lust For Life”, which is her fourth studio album since her breakthrough and fifth chart entry overall. It also becomes her fourth number one album, following her debut “Born To Die”, the EP “Paradise” and the second album “Ultraviolence”. Her third release “Honeymoon” had to settle down for a #2 debut two years ago, but still ended up with a Gold certification. Lana’s most successful release to date remains “Born To Die”, as the set spent an incredible 78 weeks on the album charts, 12 of which were at number one, and is currently certified with 5x Platinum.

Imagine Dragons’ “Evolve” dips 2-3, followed by Lorde’s “Melodrama” which re-peaks this week (6-4). Katy Perry’s “Witness” is down 4-5, Coldplay’s “Kaleidoscope” EP drops 3-6, ZZ Ward’s “The Storm” decreases 5-7 and Anette Olzon’s “Shine” stays at #9. There may be no other new entries on the album charts, there are however two big jumps. One of them is Linkin Park’s “One More Light”, which is back up 16-10 following the tragic news from last week, while the other one is Selena Gomez’ “Revival”. The album climbs 15-8, entering the weekly Top10 for the first time this year, and for a third year in a row, as the album came out nearly two years ago. With 43 weeks it’s already her longest charting album by far, above “When The Sun Goes Down” with 35 weeks. It is however only her fourth most successful release to date, as all three releases with The Scene were more successful when it comes to charts points.

Christina Grimmie’s “All Is Vanity” (8-11), Calvin Harris’ “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1” (7-12) and Seven Lions’ “Where I Won’t Be Found” (10-15) all leave the Top10, with the biggest drop going to HAIM’s “Something To Tell You” as it tumbles down 11-20. And following the new single “Mud Blood”, Loïc Nottet’s “Selfocracy” is able to do a little re-entry at #19.

Thrilling music video, the song is a bit meh, not very memorable

              • ^ glad you like Amy's song. It's nice indeed.

As for Loïc, i think the album has some better tunes, though i really like "Mud Blood" as well. It sounds a bit Sia-ish.

                • Hi Tansike

Amazing to see Lana #1 in your album chart (was there ever any doubt? ) and even though i don't buy enough albums to compile my own album chart, Lust for life is my #1 album right now. <3

Let's see what's happening in Tansike chart land:

1 (1) Selena Gomez feat. Gucci Mane – Fetish

Ahh nice to see Fetish maintaining its lead over the competition. Did the music video give the song much of a boost? Ironically it just about managed to keep Selena inside my top 5 for a second week otherwise it might've taken a bit of a sharper drop.

                  2 (4) Kesha – Praying

Still love Praying so much, i think i will always have admiration for this song. I watched that video posted in the Praying topic showing teens reacting to Kesha's high note. So funny seeing all their shocked but smiling reactions. I can't see how anyone wouldn't be impressed with that high note.

                  3 (2) Kesha feat. The Dap-Kings Horns – Woman

Poor Kesha, i actually kept going back to listen to Woman quite a bit last week. Then i bought Lust for life and Lana ended up hogging the limelight so whilst Woman got more plays last week, Lana got even more with her album so Kesha ended up dipping slightly.

                  10 (23) Dua Lipa – New Rules

Another victim of the Lana domination, still loving New rules so much and it looks like it could become Dua's biggest hit, especially here in the UK which is amazing to see.

12 (NEW) Shania Twain – Poor Me

LOL what an apt song title. Poor Shania indeed. :( Poor me enters at #18 in my chart compared to the #16 peak for Life's about to get good. However, Poor me also got more plays last week. So despite the lower peak, its technically the bigger hit in my chart.

20 (NEW) Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals – Back To You

...at least Shania made my top 20. I quite like Back to you and in any other week this would've managed to scrape into my top 20. Lana's album domination ended up pushing Louis & Bebe out of the top 20.

25 (NEW) Maren Morris – I Could Use A Love Song
40 (NEW) Sara Hartman – Dance With A Ghost

Not heard either of these before so i'm gonna add them to my list of new music to check out during the week.

                      Hey Jake!

Well, i think there was, because both of the singles underperformed so far (even a lot compared to all of her previous singles), while her last album 'only' went Gold with a #2 peak. However, she really got me again with "Lust For Life", especially the brilliant "13 Beaches", which would have been such an easy #1 on my charts if every song would have been able to enter the Top40...
VERY glad to hear you like it that much as well!

Can't wait to see your thoughts about last/this week...

Yes, it did. Even if it's weird, it's weird in a good way somehow.

Still need to watch that video, these reactions videos are often quite interesting/funny! Can't wait to see a first live performance of this to be honest

Aw. Well, Kesha's album is coming soon so i'm sure she may rise again on your charts Because since you like these two songs i think you'll get the whole album, do you?

Agree! Such a surprise hit, really happy about that. I mean, i was already over here, but she really got me again with "New Rules".

...and there's worse This will have a huge drop on my charts tomorrow. It's nice, but i expected something better, especially since i really like both, Louis and Bebe.

Kidding aside - yeah, it's one thing to pick a fight or explode over every little thing, but it can be just as bad to keep everything bottled up and never discuss anything that might be painful/uncomfortable. I'm generally on the quieter side, so I'm still working on being less intimidated by serious, honest conversations. On paper, I obviously like the idea of being as open and honest as possible with friends/family/partners...but it's not so easy in practice.

Ha, yeah, interesting AND challenging :x It's just SO different from English - the alphabets and even the basic sentence structure. Yeah, I definitely don't get it either. I'm sure there's layers of symbolism and meaning behind these seemingly random visuals, but I'll definitely need someone to break it all down for me Still, like the "Swish Swish" lyric vid, even if I never choose to watch it again, it at least kept me thinking about the song more than I would've been otherwise.

                        • "Fetish" still isn't having quite the same effect on me that it has on you, Akini, and Jake...but at least it's no "Falling Down." ;)
                        • Lovin' that No. 23 ---> No. 10 leap for "New Rules" Exactly the kind of video effect I was hoping to see!
                        • Can't say I'm too devastated by the fast fall for "Sorry Not Sorry" It's already dipped below "Instruction"...but I guess that's pretty fitting, actually.
                        • I remember reading some unenthusiastic reactions when "Don't Let Me Be Yours" was announced as Zara's next single, and after checking it out just now, I can kind of hear why Is there anything else left on So Good that you would've picked instead?
                        • I've been randomly revisiting "Your Song" this week (partially due to its continued success on the UK and Australian charts) and I've started to appreciate it a bit more. It'd be nice to see her finally score a proper Hot 100 hit (besides "Black Widow"), but I won't hold my breath...

Yet another chart that has me fixated, Tansike!

Well, he can handle it so far. And I’m only a drama queen when there’s a reason to make drama

Definitely. That’s what I currently have to learn, as we never discussed a thing in my previous relationship, while it’s the complete opposite now. I enjoy that, but sometimes I still need to get used to it. As for myself, I’m always as open as possible, and I’m also always honest. Okay, there may be things I don’t tell to people, however if people ask me the ‘right’ question, I’d never lie to them. First because I don’t want to lie, and second because as Selena would say, I’m a Bad Liar

Ha, yeah, interesting AND challenging :x It's just SO different from English - the alphabets and even the basic sentence structure. I just took that one semester for fun during my senior year (since I already had enough credits for my major and other mandatory subjects.) I also took a semester of tennis that year. #goodtimes
Yes. In November/December 2015, so soon it’s been two years. I never used it previously but now I can’t live without having a car Just had another similar situation, as I went to see some of my family on tuesday (1st august is swiss national day, so it was holiday) and everyone drank a glass of wine, and I couldn’t do that cause I had to drive back home afterwards (and that’s over 100 km, so it would have been too risky…).

Oh wow, tennis sounds interesting as well! So you kinda ‘tested’ a few things out, which is very cool!

I never really post anything myself anymore, but I'll occasionally get tagged when someone uploads wedding photos or something. I used my middle name instead of my last, since a lot of my friends were doing that back in the day to reduce the chances of being found by employers and such.
Haha I wouldn’t say it is my type but maybe it really is Oh I’m not even friends with Akini. I’m terrible at sending friends requests But I’ll do that now as well… I’m only friends with Era and Mainshow from UKMix so far (probably two members you’re not that familiar with). There would be so many more people from ‘real life’ I could send requests but somehow I never (or rarely) do that

Oh, just asked about the video on your topic last evening, but here’s already the reply haha. I kinda forgot that I asked about it here as well So you weren’t that impressed by it. I think as weird as it may be, it’s still one of her best ones yet. I kinda like the direction she’s going for with “Bad Liar” and “Fetish” and I can’t wait to see more

“Falling Down” is great though Anyways, I’ve started to get a bit over “Fetish”, and it’s also not doing as well as expected on iTunes & Co., despite its great start with the #1 US iTunes peak. I think I’ll prefer “Bad Liar” in the long run

Glad to hear you like Dua’s new charts position, and I think you’ll be even more pleased with today’s spot

Yeah agree. “Sorry Not Sorry” will have an even bigger drop today, I’m over the song now, which is a shame somehow. It’s Demi after all…

My two favorite album tracks (and probably only behind “Never Forget You” and “Symphony” when including the singles) are ”Only You” and ”One Mississippi”, so I would have picked these as singles. Especially “Only You”. That one already did well in her home country Sweden with a #5 peak and 19 weeks on the charts, which is impressive for an album track.

I hope she’ll score that hit, though I’m over the song a bit now. But it’s cool that she’s still successful in a few countries after all these years…

                          Thanks a lot

                            • Singles Top40

In a week with no big new release there’s still a completely new number one, but that one wasn’t expected to debut atop the charts, as it’s more like a random discovery I’ve made by a band I already knew, but never really checked out: Eluveitie. Eluveitie is a folk metal band from Switzerland, who are currently also the most popular artist coming from Switzerland, as their last album “Origin” charted in many other territories such as Germany (#6), Austria (#22), Canada (#60) and even in the UK (#163) and the US (#104, #1 on the heatseeker chart). And while being a folk metal band usually is a big plus for me, they never caught my attention, until now. They will release their new set “Evocation II – Pantheon” in about two weeks, which is promoted as an acoustic album, so not as hard as other work from them, which is also the reason why their new song “Lvgvs” is more a folk pop song rather than a folk metal song. The video was released on friday, with me having discovered it on sunday evening, which was enough for it to get 80 plays as of yesterday evening, easily being the most played tune of the week.

The second highest arrival didn’t even come close to being a contender for the top spot, as it comes in at #13. It’s “Caught In The Middle”, the newest release by Anastacia, and the lead single of her upcoming new album “Evolution”. While the band who has this weeks number one may be ‘hard’ on paper, it gets really hard at #17 with Arch Enemy. The melodic death metal band never scored an entry on both of my charts so far, however their lead vocalist Alissa White-Gluz was featured on “Demons In You” by Tarja, which spent incredible seven consecutive weeks at number one on the singles charts last year. Now the band is back and is about to prepare the release of their first album in three years, called “Will To Power”, with the first single “The World Is Yours” becoming their chart debut at #17. Not new, but back in the Top20 is “Symphony” by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson. The current longest running number one single of the year makes a surprising return to the charts at #18.

There are also another two new arrivals and one re-entry in the lower half of the charts. Following the release of an acoustic version (including a very rare moment of getting a single cover), “Love’s Just A Feeling” is back at #26 for Lindsey Stirling. The song is still below “Lost Girls”, which holds on well just outside the Top20 (22-21). American singer-songwriter Tori Amos gets her first entry ever with “Cloud Riders” at #30 while Charli XCX owns the last debut of the week as her “Boys” enters the charts at #33.

The Top3 from last week all dip just one position each, which are “Fetish” by Selena Gomez (1-2) and “Praying” (2-3) & “Woman” (3-4) by Kesha. Also quite stable are Loreen’s “Body” (4-6), Loïc Nottet’s “Mud Blood” (5-7), Calvin Harris & Co.’s “Feels” (9-8), Selena Gomez’ “Bad Liar” (7-9) and Clean Bandit & Marina And The Diamonds’ “Disconnect” (8-10). There’s one mover which makes a bit of a bigger jump, and that’s Dua Lipa’s latest single “New Rules”. The song already climbed into the Top10 last week and moves even further now, as it’s up 10-5, becoming her highest peaking single to date.

Country legend Shania Twain has released the video for her single “Life’s About To Get Good”, which gets a small boost through it (31-28). Her other charting song “Poor Me” is about to become her first Top10 hit though, as it’s up 12-11. It switches places with Lana Del Rey, who holds on very well in the second week after the album release, as “Love” (11-12) and “Lust For Life” (13-14) both only slip down one spot. Linkin Park have a bigger drop, as their “Talking To Myself” falls down 6-16. There are some other big decreases in the lower half of the charts, especially “An Empty Dream” by Tarja (18-25), “I Could Use A Love Song” by Maren Morris (25-34), “Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato (17-36), “Swish Swish” by Katy Perry (29-38), “Back To You” by Louis Tomlinson (20-39) and “Don’t Let Me Be Yours” by Zara Larsson (26-40) fall a lot.

Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” is the biggest climber for a second week in a row while Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry” shares the title as the biggest loser of the week with Louis Tomlinsons “Back To You”.

                            • Album Top20

Summer goes on, and unsurprisingly there’s just one debut for yet another week. Lana Del Rey easily defends the top spot with her “Lust For Life”, while Halsey easily sits behind her with “hopeless fountain kingdom”, getting an incredible ninth week in the Top2 now. The only arrival makes the Top3 complete, as it’s the surprise release “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” by Passenger. The singer already scored two entries on the album charts with “Whispers” (#6, 2014) and “Young As The Morning Old As The Sea” (#2, 2016) and following this new release, he will take a break from the music business for some time.

Summer time is a time when old releases may get a surprising push, and as every year lately, Anette Olzon somehow manages to do so for another year, as her “Shine” improves 9-4 – in its 103rd charting week! Selena Gomez’ “Revival” also keeps on climbing, up 8-7 this week. Not that old but still older than most other records in the Top10 is Ed Sheeran’s “÷”, which returns to the upper half as well after quite a while (14-10). The other Top10 entries are “Evolve” by Imagine Dragons (3-5), “Melodrama” by Lorde (4-6), “Witness” by Katy Perry (5-8) and “The Storm” by ZZ Ward (7-9), with the ones by Imagine Dragons and Lorde going Gold this week. This makes “Evolve” the third consecutive certified album by Imagine Dragons, while “Melodrama” is the first certified release ever for Lorde, including the singles.

Coldplay’s “Kaleidoscope” EP (6-13) and Linkin Park’s “One More Light” (10-18) leave the Top10. Meanwhile, Lindsey Stirling is back to having two entries on the singles charts, which also pushes “Brave Enough” a little bit (18-12), which is charting for 50 weeks now. Only two more weeks and the violinist will already score her third album with a year or more spent on the charts. Lana Del Rey gets a second entry as her major label debut “Born To Die” returns to #14 for a 79th week on the album charts.

Managed to have a run of solid 5 days in my chart (which is almost twice the average lifeline of an entry in 2015-2017), a strong song.

Wow, I've instantly remembered Scooter's "How Much Is The Fish?"
Anyway, a good song, lovely vocals.

                                • ^ oh, Arch Enemy is another one i've missed on your charts then. That's great to know. "The World Is Yours" is really good, so i'm kinda excited for their upcoming album!

As for Eluveitie, yeah, they sample the same traditional like Scooter did. Actually a very old song. Eluveitie do the better job obviously

So your new partner is all about totally open communication too? Lots of time spent processing feelings together? Btw
                                    - would you mind sharing his name? I figure using that will save some time/space, as opposed to always saying "your new partner/man/etc."

You'd never lie, eh? Damn, SO many not-UKMIX-appropriate questions racing through my mind right now...

Hmmm...it's risky. Although I don't think it's TOO likely, you might end up totally loving it and officially relegate "Birthday" to worst-single-EVER status Guess there's only one way to find out...

@ that run for "Birthday." At least it was technically a Top 5 hit!

Ah, OK, I think I understand better now. So you can't drink at ALL if you'll be driving, no matter how small the amount/even if you're still well below the usual legal limit? Any trace of alcohol in your system at ALL is cause for arrest/losing your license/etc.?

My two favorite album tracks (and probably only behind “Never Forget You” and “Symphony” when including the singles) are ”Only You” and ”One Mississippi”, so I would have picked these as singles. Especially “Only You”. That one already did well in her home country Sweden with a #5 peak and 19 weeks on the charts, which is impressive for an album track.
Whaaaaat? I mean...I'm definitely not SAD to hear that, since I feel the same way, but...I'm shocked, for sure!

So I guess you're into "Only You" because Zara keeps talking about loving/touching herself? Has she officially replaced Gaga in your wet dreams? Kidding aside, I'm not instantly hooked on it, but it does have an interesting sound that's different from any of her other international singles so far, so it would've been a cool chance to show the world another side/sound.

                                    • Ooh...as you predicted, I'm VERY pleased by "New Rules" leaping into your Top 5! We might've discussed this before, but what's Dua's biggest hit on your chart so far?
                                    • It's so wild to have brand-new Shania music after all these years! I've never picked up any of her albums, but I definitely remember (and still enjoy) her classic crossover hits like "That Don't Impress Me Much", "Man! I Feel Like A Woman", "You're Still The One", "Up!", etc.
                                    • Based on your comments over in my chart, it sounds like you're not TOO impressed with "Boys" (the song or the video), so I'm glad it at least managed to dent your Top 40!
                                    • I'm definitely not sorry to see "Sorry Not Sorry" come tumbling down...

                                    Yet another indescribable chart, Tansike!

                                        - would you mind sharing his name? I figure using that will save some time/space, as opposed to always saying "your new partner/man/etc."

You'd never lie, eh? Damn, SO many not-UKMIX-appropriate questions racing through my mind right now...

Haha no, usually i really avoid lying. Maybe if i really have to, then i'd do it, but usually i really don't. That's a good thing in general i'd say, though it can be a bad thing as well, as i'm probably even too open about some stuff.

@ that run for "Birthday." At least it was technically a Top 5 hit!
Let me check it out... hmm... okay, it's not THAT bad though it's clearly also not that good Kinda shocked it has that many views on youtube... i'm glad it wasn't her first hit

yeah, its chartrun was really... hmm, let's say special. It was a new Katy Perry single after all, which explains its high debut, also i have to admit that i was liking it for that week as i've been listening to it a lot more than i used to do following the single release, but i already got so over it after that...

Any trace of alcohol in your system at ALL is cause for arrest/losing your license/etc.?
Yes, that's how it is. After these first three years i'm allowed to drink at least something, like a glass of wine or a beer before taking the car (but it's obviously still better not to drink at all)

On one hand, I feel like a monster for encouraging smoking in any way...but I gotta admit, it really suits you in that recent pic with your mom!
                                        Thanks

To be honest, i'm actually quite new when it comes to smoking But i don't do it too often. Funny thing is my mom reacted kinda cute. I met her on a saturday when i took that pic, and then again the following tuesday, and she already said i should arrive a little bit earlier on tuesday so we could smoke a cigarette together I was like 'eh, as my mom you should actually say i should quit right now instead of encouraging me' Also, i really wasn't sure if i should post that pic or not but i thought it looks cool there already were some negative feedbacks though
                                        Anyways, thanks a lot!

Why are you shocked about this? "Bad Liar" definitely also turns out to be a surprising hit for me, showing great longevity and i never really noticed it but somehow it's already quite high on the year-to-date list as of now...

So... funny you mention these lyrics, as i picked up by partner from the airport on monday evening and the first song that got played in my car was "Only You" and i played it quite loud and it really seemed like he was a bit surprised to hear these lyrics and always looked on the screen to see who this sings So yeah, kinda funny for me you're mentioning that now. Anyways, that's not the main reason, though Zara's definitely a nice girl to say the least

...sooo... does that mean you like it? The band is usually doing 'harder' stuff but they will release an acoustic album next week, that's why it's no metal (but still different to what other artist sell as 'acoustic')

By peak, it's "New Rules", which will easily end up as her biggest hit as well with a very few more weeks on the chart. But her discography looks like this so far:
Be The One: Peak #7 / 9 weeks
Hotter Than Hell: Peak #20 / 2 weeks
Blow Your Mind (Mwah): Peak #38 / 1 week
No Lie (by Sean Paul): Peak #39 / 1 week
Scared To Be Lonely (with Martin Garrix): Peak #12 / 6 weeks

I know! I'm so excited for her new album, even though i also never got one of her previous releases. But her songs are so iconic, i basically grew up with hearing them on the radio. I'll definitely plan to get one or even all of them (aren't that many...) to add them to my collection. Especially "Come On Over" is basically a must-have...

Yes... it's still a nice song, it's not that i would dislike it. However, that #33 debut is probably already its last appearance here :(

You're not the only one... poor Demi

                                        Thanks a lot

week 32/2017 – 10 august 2017 Back to the roots

                                          • Singles Top40

As some people may know, my musical origin comes from bands like Nightwish, Evanescence and Within Temptation, so the symphonic rock genre, or better said the female fronted rock genre. While these bands still score hits on my charts with their releases, it became a mainly pop influenced Top40 in the past few years, as I’ve expanded my musical horizon. This week I’ve been going back to my roots a little bit, and following the random discovery of Eluveitie’s “Lvgvs” last week, I’ve made another random discovery with the band Cellar Darling. Cellar Darling consists of three former Eluveitie band members, so they’re from Switzerland as well, and their single “Avalanche” makes a debut right at the top of the Singles Top40 this week. They also have another song charting at #14, called “Black Moon”. Meanwhile, right behind them, there’s a second entry for Eluveitie called “Epona”, while “Lvgvs” falls 1-4 this week. Last but not least, a third band from that direction makes a jump into the Top10: Arch Enemy’s “The World Is Yours” rises 17-10.

Cellar Darling and Eluveitie aren’t the only arrivals in the Top10. Ed Sheeran just released a video for his track “Bibia Be Ye Ye”, which becomes yet another Top10 hit for the British singer-songwriter by debuting at #8. He still has another entry as well with “Galway Girl”, which goes Gold this week (32-34). It seems like an unusual week, as there are many artists with two entries, and Camila Cabello also gets two at once, as she released the tracks “OMG” (#28, featuring Quavo) and “Havana” (#30, featuring Young Thug), which both nearly make back to back entries in the Top30 as the final arrivals of the week.

The rest of the Top10: Kesha’s “Praying” stays at #3 while her “Woman” drops 4-7. “Fetish” by Selena Gomez (2-5) and “New Rules” by Dua Lipa” (5-6) are between Kesha’s two tracks. Shania Twain makes the Top10 complete as she scores her first notation in that part of the charts ever with “Poor Me” (11-9). She’s having a great week anyway, as her “Life’s About To Get Good” improves as well (28-21).

Calvin Harris’ “Feels” (8-11), Loïc Nottet’s “Mud Blood” (7-12), Loreen’s “Body” (6-13), Clean Bandit’s “Disconnect” (10-15) and Selena Gomez’ “Bad Liar” (9-17) all leave the Top10. Meanwhile, Zedd’s “Get Low” remains surprisingly stable in the upper half (15-18), with Lana having two entries there as well with “Love” (12-19) and “Lust For Life” (14-20). Just outside the Top20, there are a few songs being quite stable, which are “An Empty Dream” by Tarja (25-22), “Perfect Places” by Lorde (22-23), “Lost Girls” by Lindsey Stirling (21-24), “Bon Appétit” by Katy Perry (23-25) and “Stay” by Zedd (24-26). There are also bigger drops though, especially on the last two spots on the charts, which belong to Anastacia’s “Caught In The Middle” (13-39) and Amy MacDonald’s “Down By The Water” (19-40). Last but not least, Halsey’s “Now Or Never” dips 29-31 in its 16th week, and it goes Platinum this week, as just the second song released this year to do so, and fourth song overall to do so this year.

Arch Enemy’s “The World Is Yours” and Shania Twain’s “Life’s About To Get Good” are the biggest climbers while Anastacia’s “Caught In The Middle” is the biggest loser this week.

Cellar Darling makes the double as they arrive atop the Album Top20 as well with their debut album “This Is The Sound”. The set already came out a month ago, but I only discovered and listened to it now. In fact, it already got over 200 plays, which is quite impressive for a random discovery, and it’s likely to become a surprise hit on my charts. They block Lana Del Rey, who nearly got three weeks on top, but dips 1-2 now with her “Lust For Life”, followed by Halsey’s “hopeless fountain kingdom” (2-3) and Passenger’s “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” (3-4).

Apart from Cellar Darling’s “This Is The Sound”, there’s also another surprising debut, which I only checked out due to the fact that there are no other interesting new releases around right now. It’s “Holiday Night – The 6th Album” by K-Pop girlgroup Girls’ Generation, which enters the charts at #5. It’s their very first notation ever, however one of their members – Taeyeon – already scored a successful entry with her solo-debut “My Voice – The 1st Album” earlier this year, which peaked at #4 and spent seven weeks in the Top20. Anette Olzon’s “Shine” (4-6), Imagine Dragons’ “Evolve” (5-7), Lorde’s “Melodrama” (6-9) and Ed Sheeran’s “÷” (10-10) are still in the Top10, while Zara Larsson’s “So Good” returns to that part after being stuck between #11 and #14 for 11 weeks (11-8).

Katy Perry has to leave the Top10 for the very first time, as “Witness” decreases 8-11. Also doing so is “The Storm” by ZZ Ward (9-14), while Selena Gomez’ “Revival” drops 7-12 as well. Lady GaGa’s new world tour just kicked of last week, and due to the anticipation of her upcoming concert in Switzerland in about seven weeks, her latest album “Joanne” already makes an early re-entry at #15.

Same. Thankfully, since it didn't do well, most people, even many fans, have pretty much swept it under the rug and just treat "I Kissed A Girl" as her debut single. Although USG did get a video, I don't think it was ever sent to radio, and according to Wikipedia it was given away as a free download on the Capitol Records site, so I guess it was never a proper/fully-promoted single in the first place anyway. A true buzz single. ;)

Ha, I had the same thoughts about encouraging you to post it here on UKMIX! Well, since "Fetish" debuted right at No. 1 (and then stayed there a little longer), while "Bad Liar" had to slowly but surely fight its way to that No. 2 peak, I really thought your feelings for "Fetish" had to be stronger. I'm glad I was wrong, though, and that "Bad Liar" has experienced such an impressive turnaround with you!

Anyways, that's not the main reason, though Zara's definitely a nice girl to say the least

Well...it made a better first impression that a more hardcore heavy metal track probably would.

“Fetish” was more like a one or two week thingy. It had one of the best starts of the year when it comes to plays, I think even 2nd best behind “The Cure”, however I got over it kinda quickly now, while “Bad Liar” always showed great consistency with its ups and downs on my charts, even reaching new peak through a brilliant video. “Fetish” is still good though, and I’m really sad that it’s yet another underperforming track for her on the charts out there :(

Well it actually was meant that way, yes Well, not for me as a person, but musically, I went a little bit back to the roots with bands like Cellar Darling, Eluveitie and Arch Enemy. The latter two and another symphonic rock band will release their albums over the next few weeks so it may continue a little bit. Glad you kinda ‘like’ the latest #1 (or at least you can live with it ). And I get what you mean with ‘AKA dudes screaming as loudly as possible’. I think the #10 would be interesting for you – Arch Enemy’s “The World Is Yours” – as while it’s still a female-fronted rock band, it’s actually a ‘girl screaming as loudly as possible’-kind of thing

True… a random move but IMO “Shape Of You” and “Castle On The Hill”, in some parts also “Galway Girl”, are still going too strong so it’s probably too early to already release the next proper single of his album. He seems to follow Adele’s path…

What?!?!?! It never entered the Hot100 despite all the promo? What the So unfair. This is such a brilliant tune, and I’ve been fell back in love with it.

Yeah, I got over it quickly now. We’ll see, I don’t have that much hope left for it on the official charts out there, sadly.

                                                    Thanks a lot
