Plus I stick to a certain pattern when it comes to catching Pokémon (basically everything in or around water).
Love that! Who ended up on your "found around the water" team?

Yeah, it's baffling that the early Gens still aren't playable on the Switch in any (legal) way (can't purchase them or play them via Nintendo Switch Online, AFAIK).

Ha, "Angels Like You" is a pretty fitting pick (and I'm with you on discounting those forgotten featured tracks too).

It's sweet that she's so enthused about being a mom and seems to have a strong bond with her kids...but it never made my chart I wasn't too bothered that the US mostly ignored her 2020-2022 singles, but now "Trustfall" is struggling to end that dry spell/win back the GP, which is frustrating to watch. At least the rest of the world is showing it more love.

P!nk always had some good hits here and there, but I've never been too invested into her. What about you?
Same, and I don't know why I never checked out a full album of hers until Beautiful Trauma/I had streaming, but I can't explain why I never bothered picking up albums like I'm Not Dead or Funhouse on CD. I guess she was just more of a "singles artist" for me, but her personality was plenty charming too, so idk what was holding me back.
    • All this Loreen Eurovision buzz transports me straight to 2012! Not sure if I like "Tattoo" as much as "Euphoria," though...
    • Calvin's taking us even further back in time with that new Ellie collab! I wonder if the success of "I'm Good (Blue)" inspired him at all, since "Miracle" also draws from the late-90's/early-00's
    • Poor Meghan getting shat on like she's the worst thing to ever happen to mainstream music I can't say "Mother" does a ton for me, but I also can't blame her for wanting to capitalize on the viral success of "Made You Look." **shrug**
    • I feel like such a fake/fickle fan for "rooting against" Miley, but it's honestly a relief to see that you didn't debut Endless Summer Vacation at No. 1 It reminds me of how I felt about A Star Is Born: confused by critics and fans alike being so enthusiastic about an era that feels like one of the artist's dullest
    • Did Carrie just drop a random standalone single (or might there be a Deluxe Edition of D&R on the way)?
Yet another chart that stuck with me, Tancel!

    • Lots of good ESC entries (and Marina Kaye and Miley). I'm not (and never have been) big on Loreen. There's always something missing for me.

As for "Unicorn", the parts don't really gel together that well, I had a proper chuckle at her going "YOU WANNA SEE ME DANCE?" all of a sudden
UK will definitely get another solid success at Eurovision this year - though definitely not as high as Spaceman ended up.
I love me some Unicorn - it's very Blackpink-ish, and I really like their stuff too.

Cool new entries for Mae and Miley. Mae is a real ear worm.
Yes - imagine how shocking it would have been if Sweden chose someone else

Yes to the M - love <3 Another good success at Eurovision for the UK is safe with I Wrote A Song.

January - March is always so super busy for me so haven't picked it up again for some time... but I ended up with around 30 Pokémon and I actually leveled them all up to the level cap before each new challenge. Takes some time but it's been super fun. So not just a team of six but basically most Water Pokémon that are available early on + some more blue-ish / water-ish Pokémon.

Yeah, I'm disappointed they weren't made available with the last big update. I was slightly underwhelmed with what they announced on Pokémon day - I also expected the DLC's to come out way earlier... I may have lost all the interest until they come out But we'll see, I'm definitely still more invested into the new games compared to many previous generations. What are your thoughts about the DLCs?

Makes sense for Cover Me In Sunshine. iirc it was also just a hit in Australia, German speaking countries and the UK maybe. More like a surprising hit. Other than that... I mean, to be fair, she's reached an age where there aren't just many Popstars scoring hits on the singles charts. She makes the most money with touring and so her trajectory makes somewhat sense. I also think it's been too long since she released something really fresh / exciting... one album that didn't fully click may have been ok, but it's been 2-3 (depending on who gets asked) now.

Haha similar situation with me too... I always liked some of her stuff but never cared to dive more into her albums until streaming made it easier. My brother had Funhouse back then and played it to death though. Maybe I'm Not Dead would be a good choice for album to still check out at some point, as it's been sooo huge... iirc the same "era" like Nelly Furtado's Loose that I absolutely adored back then.

But you liked Euphoria back then? Loreen is definitely coming strong this year and could snatch another Eurovision win. So, so exciting <3

Hm, good point, that could be the case. Are you enjoying Miracle so far? I'm... not sure if I like it. I'm definitely disappointed because I Need Your Love & Outside were both awesome and among my faves by both of them.

Agreed. Meghan is one of these artists that just get a shitstorm for existing. The song also doesn't do much for me but I still hope it becomes a hit just to shut her haters up

Not us "hating" on Miley!! Who would've seen that coming? IMO the album is slightly turning into a solid grower, but it's still definitely not as good as most of her previous albums. The A Star Is Born comparison makes totally sense here, because I felt the same during that era too (and I still think Shallow is... meh). But to be fair, there are currently a bunch of good new albums being released so I'm fine with Miley not being as good as I was hoping for, so there's more room for others

Yep, it was just a random single - no word on a new album or re-release of Denim & Rhinestones.

              Thank you

yay - especially for the Marina shoutout. She's already been better, but still a good track from her and I hope a fourth album may be coming out soon. She's been missed! Ah I can see that, from what I've seen, Loreen is not fully your taste. But that's so nice about Eurovision - there are so many songs so there's at least one song for everyone

A slow start for what seems to be a new chart hit in how many years for Hozier.

Takes some time but it's been super fun. So not just a team of six but basically most Water Pokémon that are available early on + some more blue-ish / water-ish Pokémon.
**Hug** If this is your busiest time of year, I'll try to keep my comments slightly more concise (thankfully, it's nearly April now). Impressive that you managed to keep a rotating crew of 30 all evenly-leveled! I think my stubborness with sticking to a core crew of six is a big part of why I don't enjoy modern Pokémon games as much (they definitely seem designed for us to rotate and experiment with a bigger squad).

I was slightly underwhelmed with what they announced on Pokémon day - I also expected the DLC's to come out way earlier... I may have lost all the interest until they come out But we'll see, I'm definitely still more invested into the new games compared to many previous generations. What are your thoughts about the DLCs?
It would've been nice to see some actual game footage, but the new DLC approach they started with SwSh does feel less predatory than the old "third versions" (which got us to buy basically the same game again 1-2 years after the initial paired versions, though I did like that 3rd versions gave me an opportunity to travel through the whole region again with a new team of six and some slight tweaks to the story/opponents The DLC's just feel like extra post-post game content, for better or worse).

For sure, and it's impressive that she's stayed relevant enough to be such a big touring force in 2023 (compared to other popstars who debuted in the late-90's and fizzled out before we even hit 2010). I just wish "Trustfall" was at least doing as well as "Walk Me Home" or "One Too Many" on the Hot 100 (since I like it so much better).

My brother had Funhouse back then and played it to death though. Maybe I'm Not Dead would be a good choice for album to still check out at some point, as it's been sooo huge... iirc the same "era" like Nelly Furtado's Loose that I absolutely adored back then.
Ah, if your brother was constantly blasting Funhouse, it makes sense that you wouldn't bother buying the album for yourself. (IIRC, he's straight, yeah)? Does that mean you did buy Loose?

I am, but it seems like a lot of UKMIXers feel more like you (underwhelmed by it/see it as a more-basic step down from the Higher Than Heaven singles).

At a time when Trump currently holds the No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart and Morgan Wallen became more popular than ever after using the n-word, I can't act like Meghan Trainor's the most upsetting thing on the music scene.
                            • Ava owning 2023 so far "Ghost" definitely deserves a proper video too, but at least she/her team are supporting the song in some way
                            • "Jaded" was my biggest ESV standout last week, but "River" might climb past it this week. "blowing bubbles in the bath, I can't stop from thinking lately, you could be the one, have the honor of my babies..."

Yes! The release of the official visualizer let me move it onto the main chart. Still the song I think they need to invest more, it could be a hit.

Still having mixed feelings about the Inna song. It's just so short.

She did! Exactly the Ethno-Pop I was looking out for! Plus she will definitely deliver vocally. The lyrics are a mess though

Hozier keeps releasing good stuff for sure. Let's see if he can get a hit with it...

Yes, this week already looks better... still one big thing I need to deliver at work this week and I'm nowhere near to where I should be with it, but I'm sure I'll get there!
The thing with the rotating crew is that I can discover more Pokémon through this plus I get attached more to the world of Paldea. Instead of rushing through it, I stay at some places to level up my Pokémon and that's been super fun tbh.

I still think they need to install some sort of "reset" for gym / boss battles so there's a way of playing the whole game with a completely new team once you're finished without having to reset the whole game. That would be so much fun.

I still never downloaded the DLC's for SwSh The third versions were more my thing, as I don't mind buying another game and playing through, but with SwSh I just didn't see the point of why to download that for a side storyline when I've stopped playing the main games a while ago. Overall I was slightly disappointed with the announcements on the Pokémon day, I expected more (for example also when it comes to older games being available on Switch...).

True! She's one of the biggest touring forces also especially from her peers, so that's great for her.
Ah, I can see that.... Trustfall at least seems to be a decent hit in some European countries. IMO Runaway would've been a better choice for the second single (also uptempo and IMO more modern & hit potential).

Oh god I honestly feel sorry. I mean there's so many crazy things going on in the US (as a big Drag Race fan I'm also super worried about all the Drag ban discussions) and yesterday I was just wondering how the heck is someone like Morgan Wallen this successful... have you heard something by him? Maybe his music is not all that bad... but the things he said & has done kinda make me want to ignore his music no matter what. Anyways, yes, Meghan is like so far away from being "bad" in that aspect. Even the opposite: It's always good to have fun pure Pop music back in the charts!

She does! It's still so frustrating how they handled the whole second era. First such a long break following the lead, and after that they had like no idea what to do with Ava anymore and just tried different songs without proper promo and hoped for the best? How can someone come from such a huge debut era (plus another huge hit with The Motto) and completely bomb with the second album?

Ah, love to hear that about River! I gave the album a few more chances lately... like, I really tried to spend some time with it as I was hoping for it to click more with me, it's Miley after all. But I just ended up realizing that besides the middle part with Handstand, River and Violet Chemistry, there's really nothing else that's truly above average for me on the album. It's my second least favorite album by hers, only above Breakout (though I haven't heard that one in years so if I ever check it out again, there's a chance ESV may end up being my least favorite ).

Yes yes yes so happy to see Can't Tame Her becoming a sleeper hit. It's still not in the UK Spotify Top200 which is weird as it's doing well on every other platform, but fingers crossed it appears soon and also in some more countries. If something by Zara can be another hit for her, it's probably that one. She also does some promo performances in a few talk shows etc. so it's cool to see her being out there & trying it again.

I'm a bit worried when it comes to Ellie right now because I think By The End Of The Night is one of the dullest things she's ever done

Nope, Nonsense hasn't charted (yet). Emails I Can't Send is a perfect case of an album where I enjoy the songs in part of the album, but as stand alone tracks they don't have much replay value for me. But Nonsense seems to be taking off on the charts out there, so I may give it a proper ear.

                                    Thank you

                                            • Nice to see the Eurovision slayage in March already, many songs are growing on me right now including Moldova & France.
Yay at Ava in your Top 3, think Ghost might be my favorite song from her now!
Just listened to 'Rodeo', it's cute on first listen but think I prefer 'Different Kinds of People'.

Yeah, Eurovision is having a super early impact for me this year - but it seems like for other people as well?

Glad to hear Moldova & France are growing on you right now - Moldova also keeps growing on me, while France is definitely an early fave.

Yes for the Ghost love <3 A shame they didn't release it right away... like, it should have been the second single and maybe it could've done something for her. Such a wasted album

Glad you checked Rodeo out. Bimini keeps releasing some enjoyable tunes for sure. Rodeo's opening really gives me Charli XCX' Good Ones vibes.

Yes! Definitely one of my favorite entries this year. A shame she's been falling down in the betting odds - I'm afraid of a similar situation like with Artsvik back in 2017, where fans were super confident about a great placement, but in the end, she kinda flopped in the final.
