I'm more into R&B-leaning stuff, you know, so I prefer Be My Baby, Best Mistake or You Don't Know Me, for instance.

Anyway, still good to see the same acts charting : Banks, Indila, Lana, LP and Ariana !
Oh really? That's sad, i thought you could like "Love Me Harder" as it's also really R&B (to me, at least). But at least we think the same about "Best Mistake", and the other tracks like "Be My Baby" and the deluxe edition songs are growing on me a lot lately.

        Glad you like these entries!

Aww... first, thanks for your comment as you said you won't comment until Taylor reachs #1
Then... yeah, that's what i thought too lately. WB also smashed hard in the second half of 2013 and "Break Free" could really become this year's WB...

Good then... but i prefer "Until It's Gone" to "Final Masquerade", but it's still good, of course. Glad to see you like it too!

Don't worry, "Anaconda" will recover a little bit this week, and "Glorious" could reach a new peak too!

                • thanks so much for all comments

                  week 36/2014 – 4 september 2014 it’s all about Ariana – again!

                  • Singles Top40

Ariana Grande continues with slaying the whole charts. The US singer remains on top with “Break Free”, collecting a eighth non-consecutive week. This may be a sign as the longest number one singles of the last three years were also on top for eight weeks (Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” in 2013, Lana Del Rey’s “Born To Die” in 2012 and Selena Gomez & The Scene’s “Love You Like A Love Song” in 2011), but both Miley and Lana spent some more weeks in other years (Miley one more in 2014, Lana two more in 2011). If Ariana spends a ninth week on top next week, she’ll get as many as Miley got with “Can’t Be Tamed” in 2010 and “The Climb” in 2009 and Nightwish with “Amaranth” in 2007... and if she gets a tenth week, it will be the first year ever to have a song on top for so many weeks.

That’s not all from Ariana, because she’s basically owning the Top3: After a slow start, “Bang Bang” together with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj increases 15-2, surpassing the #9-debut four weeks ago. It’s Ariana’s eighth Top3-appearance, Nicki’s 11th (including hits like “Turn Me On” and “Beauty And A Beat”) and Jessie J’s third. Rounding up the Top3 is Ariana’s “Best Mistake” which slips 2-3.

The first of five new entries just misses the Top3 and comes in at #4. It’s “I’m Not The Only One”, the third single of Sam Smith’s debut album and the follow-up to the Top5 hits “Money On My Mind” (#4) and “Stay With Me” (#2, down 11-14 this week). While it’s his third Top5 hit, it’s his first to debut inside the Top20, as all his other songs debuted quite low. Emmelie De Forest’s “Drunk Tonight” leaves the Top3, down 3-5 in her third week. Anette Olzon is up 7-6 with “Lies”, Lindsey Stirling is down 5-7 with “Shatter Me” and Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” remains at #8. French duo Lilly Wood & The Prick gets their first Top10 entry with the european smash “Prayer In C” and the support of german DJ Robin Schulz. The song made a short apperance a few weeks ago and re-enters the charts at #9. David Guetta closes the Top10 with “Lovers On The Sun”, down 6-10.

After only one week, “It’s My Birthday” by will.i.am and Cody Wise already falls out of the Top10 (9-11), but it’s still doing surprisingly good after the low start. Also out of the Top10 are Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and Ariana Grande’s “Problem”. Taylor crashes 4-16 with “Shake It Off” while Ariana falls 10-21. The drop for her isn’t too harsh though as she only came back due to the album release, plus “Problem” is certified with Platinum this week, becoming her second song to do so after “The Way” which was certified in the same week exactly one year ago.

Hilary Duff’s “All About You” (14-13) and Linkin Park’s “Final Masquerade” (18-15) reach new peaks inside the Top20, Train’s “Angel In Blue Jeans” climbs 33-18 and becomes their second Top20 hit after “Drive By” peaked at #15 around two years ago and Nicki Minaj is back in the upper half with “Anaconda” (24-19).

As mentioned above there are four more new entries. Pharrell Williams arrives with his third single “Come Get It Bae” out of his current album “G I R L” at #23, and scores his third Top30 hit after “Happy” and “Marilyn Monroe”. With their album also making a debut, Maroon 5 even get two entries with promo single “It Was Always You” starting at #27 and lead single “Maps” at #35. The last new entry goes to Enrique Iglesias who debuts at #38 with his latest hit “Bailando”.

Train’s “Angel In Blue Jeans” is the biggest climber while Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” is the biggest loser this week.

                  • Album Top20

There are two new entries this week, but none of them is strong enough to push Ariana away. So the singer gets a second week on top for “My Everything”, becoming her first release to spend more than one week on top of the Album Top20. Maybe the “Christmas Kisses” EP can change that during the next christmas period, as it only needs one more. “My Everything” is only the fourth release this year that debuted at number one and didn’t fall down in its second week after Within Temptation’s “Hydra” (first four weeks at #1), Anette Olzon’s “Shine” (first two weeks at #1) and Lana Del Rey’s “Ultraviolence” (first three weeks at #1).

The highest new entry was only released digitally but makes a strong entry at #2. It’s Amy Lee, the frontwoman and singer of the US band Evanescence with “Aftermath”, a soundtrack of an upcoming movie called “War Story”. As a part of Evanesence she topped the album charts with the self-titled album “Evanescence” for three weeks nearly three years ago.

Anette Olzon slips 2-3 with “Shine” while Lindsey Stirling remains at number four with “Shatter Me”. Sam Smith climbs back to the Top5 after three weeks with “In The Lonely Hour” rising 8-5. A second and last debut just missed them by debuting at #6: “V” by Maroon 5. It’s the fifth album by the US band but their first to make an appearance on the Album Top20. Kerli falls 3-7 with “Utopia”, Ed Sheeran is down 5-8 with “x”, Ariana decreases 6-9 with “Yours Truly” and Dolly Parton closes the Top10 with “The Very Best Of...” (7-10). It also gets certified with a Gold certification, just like her other charting album “Blue Smoke” (down 12-15 this week).

Within Temptation’s “Hydra” (9-11) and Christina Perri’s “Head Or Heart” (10-16) are out of the Top10. Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey’s “Ultraviolence” keeps on climbing, up 15-12 this week – maybe it can re-enter the Top10 soon. It doesn’t happen too often, but apart from the #4, there are three more placements that are exactly the same like the last time: #13 (Kerli’s “Love Is Dead”), #14 (Demi’s “Demi”) and #17 (Tarja’s “Left In The Dark”).

There’s one last notable thing as Loreena McKennit’s “The Journey So Far - The Best Of Loreena McKennitt” makes a little comeback at #19.

                  • Airplay Top10

Over on the Airplay Top10 it’s also still Ariana who’s reigning the charts, but this time with only nine ouf of ten entries. The single “Problem” already falls out, but still got impressive 32 plays. Still ruling the charts is “Break Free”, which is on top for a seventh week. It got 90 plays last week, which is only 27 less than during the album release week.

Album track “One Last Time” climbs into the Top3, up 4-2, while “Love Me Harder” slips 2-3. The Jessie J/Ariana/Nicki collaboration “Bang Bang” climbs 7-4 in its second week, becoming the highest-peaking airplay hit for Jessie J and Nicki Minaj. Promo single “Best Mistake” is down 3-5, the ballad “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart” slips 5-6, the Ryan Tedder-written “Why Try” falls 6-7, “Be My Baby” increases 9-8 and “Break Your Heart Right Back” remains at #10. So apart from “Problem” the same five tracks from “My Everything” missed the charts like last week.

But there’s one song on the charts that isn’t by Ariana... but by Amy Lee. The Evanescence singer debuts at #9 with “Push The Button”, the album opener for this weeks highest debuting album “Aftermath”.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 99 to 538 (-15.5%) compared to last week.

at the Ariana slayage, do you like "You Don't Know Me"?
Yes, Sam is surely one of the biggest discoveries of the year so far for me. To be honest he can release anything of the album it would become a hit on my charts...
Oh yeah, i like that song, but the album has so many good songs so "You Don't Know Me" gets lost a little bit...

                                    Glad you like these entries!

Oh really? Good to know - i adored them back in 2006/2007! I still like them a lot of course, but i prefer bands like Nightwish & Within Temptation to them now. Do you like these bands too?

                                              • I don't really like Jessie J's stuff. I'm sure she's a cool chick but IMO, she's lacking profile - I can't find anything unique about her, there is no real direction. I will however give her new album a listen. I liked "Domino" and "Nobody's Perfect".

Oh, some late sympathy for "Prayer in C"? ;) I never thought I'd gonna like this so much. In the end it's kinda too catchy to not like it, perhaps.

You like Indila? Did you already check out Najoua Belyzel? She has a new album coming and a new track out today - "Rendez-vous".

You have a flawless #1 of course.
