  • That's a pretty late entry for Black Widow, great nonetheless though!
Love the Hilary love, hope it peaks on one!

Great debut for Kiesza, you made a small error in the song name btw.

Didn't know you are such a fan of Chris Brown. I really liked his fourth album (F.A.M.E.) he has gone down road musically every since though..

    • "Lies" by Anette is still so freaking popular o your chart! 29 weeks in total and 17 of them in the Top10! That's insane! - How does it come that you're not tired of her?

Oh, I still have to listen to Emmelie's "Drunk Tonight" again.

So many entries by Banks! Oo

"Staring At The Sun" by Anastacia is flawless! I think that I haven't liked a track by her that much since "Left Outside Alone". It will definitely "debut" on my "new/old/new" chart ;) - Hopefully, it's going up on your chart, too!

To be honest, I still don't know who that Kiesza gurl is...

        Beggin' For Thread

MANY other amazing song I love too + flawless new entries

        SIO tho
SO Abt the divorce ... what do you think we should do abt our lovely children ?
Messy #1? Well yeah, i guess it's nothing one would expect to top my charts but it really got me the past week, but it ain't a "Break Free" of course. Not sure how it will do in the upcoming weeks, but i guess it could end up as a 'random' #1 (= one week there and falling quite fast afterwards). we'll see i guess.

Glad you like Hilary's entry & the other ones you mentioned

Poor them... i'd say you get one and i get one?

Glad you like it. Well, to be honest i never heard the song until around two weeks ago when i checked it out (including the video) and really liked it afterwards.
Not sure for Hilary's song reaching number one, at least not yet... maybe once the album comes out (which is hopefully soon )

Thank you! Somehow i always thought it's "Giants"

I don't know "F.A.M.E." apart from the singles, but "Fortune" had some nice songs while "X" is clearly better as a whole album & much more R&B than "Fortune". I'm surprised by myself how much i like his music...

First of all - glad to have you back
Second... no idea to be honest! I still love it - and so do i love her album and her in general. She's such a sweet person, i guess i'm just in love with her. She could fart and i'd think it's sweet to be honest Did the song grow on you and did you check out some of her solo stuff finally?

Well, you weren't the biggest fan of "Only Teardrops" so i'm not sure if you'd like "Drunk Tonight"... did you like "Rainmaker" btw?

Yes i like it too - and yes, it will rise this week! I finally (!!) ordered her album and wait til i get it, so that could push it even more

        Check her out

          week 39/2014 – 25 september 2014 they’re dancing Cheek To Cheek

          • Singles Top40

What a return! While it fell out of the charts pretty fast, Tony Bennett’s and Lady GaGa’s lead single to their collaboration album “Cheek To Cheek” called “Anything Goes” makes a strong comeback straight to the top of the Singles Top40. It previously debuted and peaked at #3, so Tony’s first charts entry becomes also his first top hit, while it’s already GaGa’s 12th number one single, being now the artists with most number one entries ever (Miley comes second with 11 entries, incuding “Fall Down” with will.i.am, Lana Del Rey owns ten number one hits). Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” remains strong and goes up 3-2 while Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow” closes the Top3 by falling 1-3.

Hilary Duff has a surprising hit with “All About You” and spends a third week inside the Top5, but it falls 2-4. Banks’ “Waiting Game” (7-5) and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” (8-6) are both up by two places after falling three places last week. “Lies” by Anette Olzon celebrates its 30th week on the charts by decreasing 4-7. Paloma Faith’s “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” is down 5-8 and Banks’ second entry “Beggin For Thread” falls 6-10. The last entry in the Top10 is a new entry as “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa enters at #9; it’s the second single of their album.

Obviously, two songs are out of the Top10: Paloma Faith’s “Trouble With My Baby” slips 10-11 and Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” is down 9-12. Apart from three songs that climbed into the Top20 this week there isn’t much more action in the upper half of the charts. US singer Anastacia nearly outpeaks her #12-peaking “Stupid Little Things” from earlier this year with current release “Staring At The Sun” which improves 22-14. I finally bought her album which means that the song may get another push the upcoming week. Canadian newcomer Kiesza also gets her second Top20 as “Giant In My Heart” increases 26-18, but it’s still a long way to the #4-peak of her debut hit “Hideaway”. The third climber belongs to Marlon Roudette whose “When The Beat Drops Out” recovers 21-16, but it peaked at #7 six weeks ago.

Ariana Grande’s “Best Mistake” leaves the Top20 for the first time (14-21), same for Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me”, but that one is down 17-22 after an impressive 20 weeks in the upper half. With her upcoming tour making a stop over here in a month she may go up again though. Also leaving the upper half but just not for the first time are will.i.am.’s “It’s My Birthday” (20-23), Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” (19-24) and Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” (18-26).

Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” slips 28-30 and is as low as never before just one week before its 40th charting week. Meanwhile, Lady GaGa returns at #39 with “Venus” which celebrates its 30th week on the charts, plus her other single “G.U.Y.” makes an even higher return at #33. There are three more new entries this week with Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (#29), Tokio Hotel’s “Run, Run, Run” (#32) and Royal Blood’s “Figure It Out” (#36). It’s the first entry ever for all three artists.

The biggest climber this week is Chris Brown’s “Loyal” (38-27) while Christina Perri’s “Burning Gold” is the biggest loser (30-40).

          • Album Top20

”The Fame” and “The Fame Monster” did it in 2010, “Born This Way” did it in 2011 and “ARTPOP” did it in 2013… and in 2014 it’s “Cheek To Cheek”. Pop diva Lady GaGa scores her fifth consecutive number one album, but while the other four mentioned albums were pop releases, “Cheek To Cheek” is a jazz album and a project together with jazz legend Tony Bennett, and while GaGa scored several hit albums and is less than half as old as Tony, “Cheek To Cheek” is Tony’s first album entry ever. So it’s definitely a milestone for both artists.

After a short visitation Anette Olzon already leaves the top spot with “Shine”, slipping to number two. The solo debut album by the former Nightwish singer is charting for a half year now. Chris Brown’s “X” also slips one place (2-3), same like Bank’s “Goddess” (3-4). Making the Top5 even more interesting is danish singer and ESC winner from 2013 Emmelie De Forest. Her debut album topped the charts and charted for nearly 40 weeks, and now she just released an acoustic EP simply called “Acoustic Session EP”, including an acoustic version of her current single “Drunk Tonight”. The EP starts at #5, making her the third ESC act to get two Top5 entries after Lena (Germany; winner 2010 and Top10 in 2011) and Malena Ernman (Sweden, final 2009).

Ariana Grande may have spent three weeks on top with “My Everything”, but the album starts to fall quite fast now, going down 4-6 this time. Meanwhile Marlon Roudette’s “Electric Soul” gains some places again, up 9-7. Paloma Faith’s “A Perfect Contradiction” is down 5-8, Within Temptation’s “Hydra” recovers 12-9 and Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” closes the Top10 (7-10).

In its tenth week on the charts, Sam Smith’s debut album “In The Lonely Hour” leaves the Top10 for the first time (6-11). Same for Ed Sheeran whose leaving the upper half with “x” after a lucky 13 weeks (8-13) and Amy Lee’s first solo album “Aftermath” which tumbles 10-18 after only three weeks.

“Cheek To Cheek” is a duet album, but it was strong enough to push Lady GaGa’s last solo album “ARTPOP” back to #12. Surprisingly, after the low debut last week, U2’s “Songs Of Innocence” remains at #14 – just the second time an album peaked for more than one week at the same position outside the Top10 after Alex Hepburn’s “Together Alone” peaked at #11 for two weeks last year – so far!

          • Airplay Top10

The Airplay Top10 is very interesting this week as there are a lot of songs with similar amount of plays, but one song clearly got the crown with 51 plays: “Anything Goes” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa. Despite being out as a single for several weeks now it never made its debut on the airplay charts so far, so the song debuts directly on top. Anette Olzon’s “Moving Away” re-peaks at number two (4-2) while Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” makes a surprisingly strong comeback at #3.

The second single from the duet album by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa is called “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and gets the second highest new entry at #4. The duo got the most entries on the charts this week as the two album tracks “Nature Boy” (#5) and “Cheek To Cheek” (#10) found their way to the charts too with the rest of the album being close to the Top10 as all songs got at least 14 plays last week.

Anette is still doing good, and apart from “Moving Away” she still got two more entries with “Lies” (5-6) and “Invincible” (6-8). “Floating” just missed the charts by only one play (22 plays) and all other tracks got a lot plays again too, with all of them having at least ten plays.

The last two songs on the charts are Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow” (1-7) and “One Last Time” by Ariana Grande (Re #9). Also worth a mention is Hilary Duff’s “All About You” which may fall out of the charts this week, but it still got 20 plays which would have been enough for a notation in lots of other weeks this year.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 76 to 293 (-20.6%) compared to last week.

                • I'm in love with Royal Blood and 'Figure it out' is my favourite track on the album, although it is not a typical choice for your chart, as most rock in it is kinda gothic with female lead, the latter seems to apply to most musical styles in your chart. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I tend to see a clear preference for female vocalists in the period I've been following your charts?

I don't know their full album but "Figure It Out" is really good, and the video is amazing! I guess the song has a chance to rise even more in the upcoming weeks, we'll see....
But you're right, it's unsual to see a song like this charting and no, it's actually not a coincidence as around 90% or maybe more of the music i own is by female artists or bands with female voices. I don't even know why, i just seem to like female voices more, but male voices are really growing on me over the last 2-3 years (for example bands like Linkin Park, OneRepublic or singers like Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, Adam Lambert...)

                      • Haha! Listening to a song in which Anette's farting for some "special effects" would be hilarious! I think I would love it ;) - Not really.. Anette's solo stuff is not having any impact on me... perhaps I will buy the album when it will be offered to a reduced price... I seriously think that Tarja's solo stuff is superior.

"Rainmaker": I hated it until I had to listen to that song a million times because of my stay in Copenhagen during Eurovision. Also, I think that she had the best performance (together with Poland) at the Grand Final. So it has grown on me.

MMh, "Drunk Tonight" is not my cup of tea, to be honest... Btw, the song's been not released in Germany. You cannot buy it on iTunes....

When it comes to your new chart, I didn't expect Tony & GaGa to return to your chart - and they even made it to the very top of your chart! - I am impressed and freaking surprised. - I couldn't listen to all snippets of the song and I think that jazz doesn't fit GaGa at all. But I am glad that you can enjoy her new music. So you agree on Britney's tweet calling the two a "musical match"? ;)

Lol @ Tokio Hotel's new entry... but I have to admit... that song's quite listenable

Love to see "G.U.Y." & "Venus" on your chart, though. Basically, these tracks are the best song on the album (besides "Artpop" of course!)

                              I just imagined it
Ah that's a real shame, but then her album is nothing like with Nightwish and there's actually no real highlight, but all together is just fantastic. She's already my 7th most played artist with only ten songs so far but i can't really describe why i love her so much... it's just that way

Oh her performance on the ESC was truly fantastic, glad it grew on you!
As for "Drunk Tonight", it's actually really one of her weakest songs ever so far (including the album tracks from her debut)
Surprised it's not out there, as it's out since day one in Switzerland

Well, i'm surprised as well - i didn't know who'd top my charts last week for a few days, until "Cheek To Cheek" got me and then it was clear: It's "Anything Goes"! It's somehow a special number one song but deserves to be there as it was truly my song of that week, it's vocally fantastic from both, and so is the album. I never imagined to enjoy a jazz album, but i did and still do And yes, what the goddess tweets is always true

It is! Have you heard their other new songs?
Glad you like them and i agree, but i would put DWUW on that list too

Oh i think the same, and the video for "Black Widow" didn't help at all as she looks exactly like Rihanna there...

I did earlier this evening and like it - somehow her voice reminds me a lot of Indila, while Indila is much newer in the business
I need to give her another listen though, maybe she could make an appearance on my charts! Thanks for recommend her

Glad to know i'm not the only one! I never liked them, but their new music is pretty good so far... and their other released songs will make their debut tomorrow as well...

week 40/2014 – 2 october 2014 Anastacia against Colbie in a competitive week

                                • Singles Top40

Five new entries and three re-entries bring some changes to the charts this week, including a new number one. US singer Anastacia is surely a big name in the music business, especially in Europe where she scored several big hit during the last 15 years, and earlier this year she also scored her first entry ever on the Singles Top40 with “Stupid Little Things”. The song failed to get good success and fell out fast again, just to re-enter a few weeks later and then it showed good stabilty with a #12-peak. The second single “Staring At The Sun” was released not too long ago and became her second Top20 entry last week, and this week she even gets her first and also already her second Top10! “Staring At The Sun” improves 14-5 but isn’t the highest entry, as “Lifeline”, the third release from the album “Resurrection” and second single in Italy, makes an impressive debut directly at number one. This is surely a big improvement and as if this wouldn’t be impressive enough, “Stupid Little Things” re-enters and re-peaks at #12. Definitely Anastacia’s week!

The unlucky one is Colbie Caillat, who just released her fifth album “Gypsy Heart”. The single “Try” already made it to the Top10 earlier this year and benefits a lot from the album release, coming back at #2 and so it gets a new peak. It nearly made it to the top, if there wouldn’t be the suprising success of Anastacia... closing the Top3 is Ariana Grande’s “Break Free”, collecting a lucky 13th week in the Top3 (2-3) and also getting a Platinum certification as her third single to do so.

“Anything Goes” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa decreases 1-4, Hilary Duff’s “All About You” slips 4-6, Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” (6-7) and Anette Olzon’s “Lies” (7-8) both lose one place, Banks’ “Waiting Game” falls 5-9 and Iggy Azalea tumbles 3-10 with “Black Widow” as the last act inside the Top10.

In his tenth week on the charts Marlon Roudette increases again by five positions, going up 16-11 with “When The Beat Drops Out”. He peaked at #7 seven weeks ago, but this week is still his second highest charting placement so far. Banks slips 10-13 with “Beggin For Thread” and leaves the Top10 after three weeks, Paloma Faith’s “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” (8-16) and “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” by Tony and GaGa (9-19) are also falling out of that territory. After “Run, Run, Run” last week, Tokio Hotel released another promo single from their upcoming comeback album called “Kings Of Suburbia”. The song is called “Girl Got A Gun” and becomes their first Top20 hit ever, making an entry at #14. There are two other new songs in the upper half, but both are climbers: Sam Smith is back up 24-18 with “Stay With Me” while Nick Jonas discovers that part of the charts for the very first time with “Jealous” (29-20).

After going down for several weeks now, Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” starts to stabilize again (22-21). Her concert is in about three weeks, that should push it back again. Foxes’ “Glorious” falls 17-22 but is officially now her biggest hit so far, also out of the Top20 are Banks’ “Drowning” (13-24), David Guetta’s “Lovers On The Sun” (19-25), Maroon 5’s “It Was Always You” (15-27), Kiesza’s “Giant In My Heart” (18-30) and Emmelie De Forest’s “Drunk Tonight” (20-31). Especially the last one – Emmelie – is kinda surprising as all her three previous hits were quite big, so the performance of “Drunk Tonight” is rather disappointing so far, especially as it’s featured as an acoustic version on her current high charting EP.

Swedish newcomer Tove Lo gets her first entry with the worldwide hit “Habits (Stay High)” at #23. It shouldn’t get problems to enter the Top20 next week. Colbie Caillat gets another entry as her biggest hit so far called “Hold On” makes a little comeback at #28 due to the album release on which “Hold On” is features as an european bonus track. The last two new entries are “Love Who Loves You Back” (#36), the official lead single by Tokio Hotel’s upcoming album, and “Booty” by Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea (#40).

Apart from Marlon Roudette, there is one little and one big celebration. The little one goes to “It’s My Birthday” my will.i.am, which celebrates its 10th week on the charts (23-32). The big one is Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” which is charting for the entire year so far: 40 weeks. The song is getting certified with 2x Platinum this week.

There are several big drops this week, but the biggest loser is Ariana Grande’s “Best Mistake” (21-34). The biggest climbers are Anastacia’s “Staring At The Sun” and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous”.

                                • Album Top20

While it looked like Colbie Caillat gets a sure debut on top a week ago, it’s someone else who surprisingly takes the crown of the Album Top20 this week...

...and it’s Anastacia! The US superstar gets her first entry on the Album Top20 ever with her sixth studio album “Resurrection”. The album was originally released nearly four months ago, including its more or less successful lead single “Stupid Little Things”. That’s also why this debut comes rather surprising and she beats Colbie Caillat’s fifth album “Gypsy Heart”, which still makes a strong debut at #2. Colbie previously got an entry with the “Gypsy Heart (Side A)”-EP earlier this year and the album spawned the two #2-hits “Hold On” and “Try”. Danish ESC star Emmelie De Forest rises 5-3 with the “Acoustic Session EP” after the first ‘full’ week.

After the top debut last time, “Cheek By Cheek” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa falls 1-4. This drop looks worse than it is, as the album is still strong and on heavy rotation – the competition was just too strong for another week in the Top3. Anette Olzon leaves the Top3 after impressive 12 consecutive and 19 weeks overall by falling 2-5 with “Shine”. It’s still not her lowest position so far though. Chris Brown is down 3-6 with “X”, Banks also falls 4-7 with “Goddess”. Both are still very strong, but as mentioned the competition this time was very strong, which is also why the third debut makes a lower entry at #8: Tove Lo debuts with her first full-length album “Queen Of The Clouds”. Ariana Grande’s “My Everything” is already about to leave the Top10 soon (6-9) while Within Temptation’s “Hydra” closes them (9-10).

After a very good 21 weeks Lindsey Stirling’s second album “Shatter Me” leaves the Top10 and slips 10-11. Her self-titled debut album left the Top10 for the first time after 23 weeks, so that’s not a too big decrease. Despite climbing with the single, Marlon Roudette’s album “Electric Soul” falls 7-12 as one of the victims from the busy week, same goes to Paloma Faith’s “A Perfect Contradiction” which has the biggest drop this time (8-16).

With all new entries this week, 100 different albums in total made the charts in 2014 so far - that's already a new yearly record, and the 4th quarter just started!

                                • Airplay Top10

Not only the Singles Top40 and the Album Top20 were exciting, also the Airplay Top10 got lots of moves as all tracks from last week fall out of the charts, making space for nine new entries and one re-entry. And while Anastacia and Colbie Caillat are the two singers who own the Top2 on both other charts, the two owns the complete airplay charts with a few of their songs.

Anastacia also takes the crown of the Airplay Top10, owning the top position of all three charts this week now. “Lifeline” easily got it with 68 plays, debuting at #1. “Staring At The Sun” makes a strong entry too at #2 with 41 plays and Colbie Caillat’s “Try” enters the charts at #3 with 35 plays.

The third single from Anastacia’s album is “Stupid Little Things” and obviously also makes a strong entry at #4 and the album track “Apology” comes in at #6 as her last song. All other songs are from Colbie’s album, so while Anastacia clearly got the lead, Colbie got more entries after all. Album track “Land Called Far Away” starts at #5, opener “Live It Up” at #7, “Just Like That” at #8, the single “Hold On” is back at #9 and closing the charts is “Break Free”.

A lot of albums got played during the last week and that’s why some tracks of the charts don’t have a huge amount of plays, but that also means there were a lot that nearly made the charts. For example all other album tracks by Colbie and Anastacia got at least ten plays too, plus Emmelie De Forest’s new songs “Hope & Fears” and “My Empire” too. Also, most songs from last week still got a good amount of plays and tyDi’s new song “Perfect Crush” featuring charts empress Kerli also just missed the charts by one play.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 28 to 265 (-9.6%) compared to last week.

Haha yeah... glad you like her success on here
I guess Paloma will start falling from now on, but she scored at least her first two Top10 at the same time. I'm into her music as never before so i'm sure she'll have some more hits in the future. Yes, "Break Free" is still very strong, i also think it still sounds fresh after all this time

I knew you'd like that I'm really positively surprised by her album, there's no weak song on it! And the singles so far were fantastic!

                                            • Wow, Anette's really your 7th most played artist of all time on Last.fm? Already? - This is impressive, have to check your profile again ;)

@Drunk Tonight - Yeah, I wasn't that impressed either.. perhaps they are waiting for some kind of promo or anything... it's so strange that our neighbours - especially Switzerland - get songs in advance or "at all", whereas I have to starve all the time

I'm really glad that you can enjoy GaGa's new work, really... I'm a bit sad that I lost my passion for her. I've been a fan since day zero (when somethin' got leaked online) but she's just annoying me right now. "Artpop" is too weird and her new tour will be the first one I'm goin' to miss. A friend of mine even offered me a ticket for 30 Euros (instead of 65€) but I really don't want to go. I seriously think that I can spend my money for better things....

Oh yeah, I even bought "Love Who Loves You Back" after their performance at "Wetten, dass...?" yesterday. Such a fantastic song! I'd love to take it as en entry for our Forum Song Contest.. it's a pity that Tokio Hotel are too well-known & popular

                                              -----------

Love to see Anastacia being your #1. I have to admit that her latest album is enjoyable (have bought it as a present for my bf but it's still at my place xD).
"Lifeline" is a killer track but I prefer "Staring At The Sun" to it; it's funny that this track is #5 on my chart as well ;) + Nice re-entry for "Stupid Little Things"!

Yeah for Banks! - "Waiting Game" has become my favourite song by her.. the only song I really don't like is "Beggin' For Thread" (don't ask me why xD).

Amazing new entry for "Love Who Loves You Back" - It better will be a top5 hit next week ;) I'm prepared xD

                                              • ^ Yes, and that's with only one album (and only ten songs) She would like to release another album next year, but this depends on her label. If she's able to do so, then i can see her becoming my second most played act during the next year

Yes, but it becomes more and more usual that we get the same release dates like Germany, for example it happened with Ariana Grande's "Break Free" and Lana Del Rey's "West Coast".

Oh that's sad to hear. Somehow i got into her again, love her. I thought about going to her concert but it's nearly sold-out so i won't go now (+ it's extremely expensive! Surprised about the low prices in Germany...)

                                                ..

Glad you like Ana's success on my charts. I remember i read that little story in another topic too Good to know you like her music as well. "Staring At The Sun" is really good but i like "Lifeline" more, it's so touching

Also glad you like Banks' and TH's entries Surprised you don't like "Beggin' For Thread" because it's her 'biggest' hit so far...
"Love Who Loves You Back" will rise a lot next week I got their album on friday and it's on heavy rotation ;)
