    • thanks so much for all comments

      week 41/2014 – 9 october 2014 they’re the Kings Of Suburbia

      • Singles Top40

After only one week on top, Anastacia has to clean up the first place for another song, even if it looked like “Lifeline” could get a second week there at first. But german band Tokio Hotel are back with their first album in five years called “Kings Of Suburbia”, and while their first two promotional singles and the first official single made some entries, none of them were big so far – until now! With the album release last Friday, all three songs get new peaks, especially the first official release called “Love Who Loves You Back” which increases 36-1. It’s the first time ever a song rises so many places up to the top and it’s also their first Top10 entry ever.

Anastacia slips 1-2 with “Lifeline”, still doing stronger than ever before. Closing the Top3 is another entry from Tokio Hotel with promo single “Girl Got A Gun” rising 14-3. It was a busy week in the Top10 overall, as apart from Tokio Hotel there’s one more climber and an impressive three new entries in them. The first entry is the new single by swedish DJ Avicii called “The Days” at #4. It’s the first release of his upcoming second album “Stories” and his fifth Top10 entry overall as he scored four with his debut album “True” (“Wake Me Up”, “Hey Brother”, “Addicted To You” and “Lay Me Down”).

Ariana Grande leaves the Top3 for the first time after 13 weeks with “Break Free”, going down 3-5. Anastacia slips 5-6 with her second Top10-entry “Staring At The Sun” and Colbie Caillat falls 2-7 with “Try”. Swedish newcomer Tove Lo just entered the charts for the first time last week with “Habits (Stay High)” and now rises a lot, up to #8 from the #23 position last week. The other two new entries in the Top10 are by Nicole Scherzinger and Carrie Underwood. Nicole released “Run” as the next single from her upcoming album “Big Fat Lie” and debuts at #9 – already her eleventh consecutive Top10 entry (including “Scream” by Timbaland and “Heartbeat” by Enrique Iglesias). Carrie starts at #10 with “Something In The Water”, the lead single of her upcoming first Best Of. It’s only her second Top10 entry after “Blown Away” which peaked at #2 for two weeks in 2012, but all other three singles from her last album with the same name reached the Top20 too.

Six new songs in the Top10 also means that six songs fall out of them. Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” has the smallest drop by falling 7-11, Anette Olzon’s “Lies” is down 8-13, Tony Bennett’s & Lady GaGa’s “Anything Goes” plummets 4-16, Banks’ “Waiting Game” decreases 9-17 and Hilary Duff’s “All About You” falls 6-19. There’s still one left and that’s “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. After topping the charts just three weeks ago, the song experiences a terrible drop by falling 10-27 this week.

Nick Jonas reachs a new peak again with “Jealous” (20-12). He’s now as high as the peak of “All This Time” by his brother Joe Jonas back in 2012. The last thing to mention from the upper half of the charts is Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” which is back there (21-18).

Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” slips 18-21 after a short visit back. His UK colleague Ed Sheeran leaves the Top20 for the first time with his hit single “Don’t” (15-22), but he may get a new one very soon with the next single called “Thinking Out Loud”. Both songs by Paloma Faith (who is from the UK as well) are also out of the Top20 with “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” going down 16-24 and “Trouble With My Baby” falling 17-26. And as if this wouldn’t be enough, there’s another big decrease for “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” by Tony Bennett & Lady GaGa (19-34). This shows once again that lot of high new entries causes lot of big decreases.

There’s one more re-entry and two more new entries. Tokio Hotel’s “Run Run Run” is back at #23, surpassing the previous position at #32 while US-singer Fergie lands at #30 with her comeback hit “L.A. Love (La La)” and australian sisters The Veronicas are new at #33 with their ballad “You Ruin Me”.

“And We Run” by Within Temptation celebrates its 20th week on the charts (26-25). They will release a Live CD next month, so maybe the song can get a second life. The rock band Royal Blood reach the Top30 for the very first time with “Figure It Out” increasing 33-28 in its third charting week. Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran leaves them for the first time with “I See Fire” after astonishing 40 weeks (29-31).

The biggest climber is the obvious “Love Who Loves You Back” by Tokio Hotel while the biggest loser is Iggy Azalea’s and Rita Ora’s “Black Widow”.

      • Album Top20

A new week also brings a new number one album and the scenario is actually the same like on the singles charts as Tokio Hotel’s comeback album “Kings Of Suburbia” enters the charts at #1, pulling away Anastacia’s “Resurrection” which slips to number two.

Tokio Hotel is already the fourth act from Germany that reaches the Album Top20 this year after Helene Fischer’s “Farbenspiel” (#2) and the two ESC acts Elaiza (“Gallery”; #3) and MarieMarie (“Dream Machine”; #2). Also, they are just the second fully male act to reach the top after Sam Smith, but there were some other male acts on top too with Howard Shore (soundtrack of ‘The Hobbit’), Seven Lions (“Worlds Apart EP”; contains only female vocals), Tuomas Holopainen (“The Life And Times Of Scrooge”; most songs are instrumental or contain female vocals), Mike Terrana (“Beauty & The Beat”; duet album with Tarja) and Tony Bennett (“Cheek To Cheek”; duet album with Lady GaGa).

Tove Lo gets a new peak after the low debut last week with her debut album “Queen Of The Clouds”, rising 8-3. Colbie Caillat falls 2-4 with “Gypsy Heart”, but it’s still higher than the #5-peak of her previous “Gypsy Heart (Side A)”-EP. Surprisingly, even without a hit single Chris Brown is up 6-5 with “X”, getting a fourth week in the Top10, and even surpasses “Cheek To Cheek” by Tony and GaGa which is already down 4-6 after only two weeks. Anette Olzon’s never-dying “Shine” seems to be weaker than before now, going down 5-7 in its 28th week on the charts – and she was never lower than #7 so far. Banks’ “Goddess” slips 7-8, Emmelie De Forest’s “Acoustic Session EP” falls 3-9 and Within Temptation close the Top10 again with “Hydra”.

Within Temptation’s album isn’t the only one that remains on its position from last week as there are four more outside the Top10. Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” remains at #11, Sam Smith’s “In The Lonely Hour” at #13, Ed Sheeran’s “x” holds on at #14 and Maroon 5 own again the last album of the charts at #20 with “V”.

Despite topping the charts for very good three weeks, Ariana Grande’s “My Everything” leaves the Top10 after only six weeks (9-12). Her debut album “Yours Truly” left the Top10 for the first time after eight weeks, but only peaked at #3. But she’s set to release her next single “Love Me Harder” soon, so that should give her another push. Lindsey Stirling’s debut album is back at #17. It’s already on the charts for its 75th week, but it’s still possible to see another increase next week due to her upcoming concert.

      • Airplay Top10

German band Tokio Hotel also makes a strong appearance on the Airplay Top10 with five new entries. That’s nearly half of their album which contains eleven songs.
The official lead single “Love Who Loves You Back” debuts on top with 94 plays, just missing to become another song with 100 or more weekly plays, but 94 is still very impressive. It’s followed by the promo song “Girl Got A Gun” (73 plays) and Anastacia’s former number one “Lifeline” at #3 (42 plays).

The other three entries by Tokio Hotel still got a big amount of plays and miss the Top3 by only a few plays: “Covered In Gold” starts at #4, title track “Kings Of Suburbia” is new at #5 and “Never Let You Down” comes in at #6. All six other album tracks miss the Top10 by only a few plays and were placed at #11 to #16 with all of them having at least ten plays each.

Swedish newcomer Tove Lo also gets her first entries ever with album track “The Way That I Am” at #7 and the single “Habits” at #8. While all entries by Colbie from last week are out this time, Anastacia still got two more that survived as “Staring At The Sun” falls 2-9 and “Stupid Little Thing” closes the charts by going down 4-10.

Two other songs should get a mention at this point. Once again, tyDi’s and Kerli’s new song “Perfect Crush” got good nine plays, same amount like Avicii’s new single “The Days”. That’s a good number and would have been nearly enough to enter the charts, but maybe they can do it in another week?

Plays of the Top10 went up by 150 to 415 (+56.6%) compared to last week.

          • Yeeeeeeeeeeeees! - So Ukmix is ready for a Tokio Hotel domination! I seriously have to see that I am addicted to "Love Who Loves You Back". The song sound so fresh among all the bland pop songs which can be found on several charts worldwide right now. So it's really great to see that "Love Who Loves You Back" & "Lifeline" (I totally get your love for that track by Anastcia now) are ruling your chart this week!

A "second life" for "And We Run" wouldn't hurt anyone. So go for it!

What a drop for "Waiting Game", though

So it really seems that "Drunk Tonight" has to leave your chart next week.... hopefully, Emmelie (& Loreen, of course) will release her (their) 2nd studio album(s) soon!

                I second that!

I also see a tendency to forget an i in Tokio ;-)

Glad you like most of the new entries this week. As for Colbie... i don't see her getting the #1 spot. The competition last week was too strong, and i'm already starting to get 'over' the song again, so it could fall even more next week But it had a great chartrun and surely get a good placement on the YEC

Totally agree with you... it's so surprisingly fresh! I wasn't the biggest fan at first (that's why the low debut) and then i didn't get it out of my head... then on friday i got the album and i got slayed Also great you get my love for "Lifeline" now

We'll see once the Live CD drops. Yesterday i read they cut some songs away like "Never-Ending Story", "Memories" and "Angels" out which is a shame But i'm still pretty excited.

Banks will get some other big drops next week....
Yes, and that's actually pretty disappointing. All three previous songs went Gold or even more, and "Drunk Tonight" even fails to get Gold... and the new EP can't help neither... but yeah, i hope so too. Emmelie's album should be out in february 2015, i hope we'll get an announcement by Loreen soon too. It's been too long!

                      • I never thought I'd hear of Tokio Hotel again, much less actually enjoy one of their songs so "Love Who Loves You Back" was definitely a pleasant surprise, and I'm happy to see it at #1 here.

"Break Free" is having such an insane run here! I actually don't like it that much, to be honest. I definitely prefer "Best Mistake" and even "Problem".

I decided to check out "Waiting Game" and, while it's not as impressive as "Beggin for Thread", it was still good. Good to see "Something in the Water" debut. It's not Carrie's best, but her vocals are divine. "You Ruin Me" is a song I heard for the first time a few hours ago and I'm really digging it so good to see that one pop up here too.

Same for me, but their new album is actually really good. Glad you enjoyed "Love Who Loves You Back" too

Yes, it's the "Wrecking Ball" of 2014... but there are lots of new songs that are growing on me right now, so even if i still love it, it will start to fall from now on i guess. Oh, but these tracks are amazing as well so that's okay

Great that you think "Waiting Game" was good too. Her album overall is very solid.
Glad you like so many entries

                          Important message
I'm going on vacation tomorrow. It's only for 8 days and it shouldn't affect something too much, but if the WLAN there isn't working the way i imagine it, it could be possible that my charts will be delayed or only posted in a short way. But hopefully everything will be fine

And yeah i know, but you know, while some people enjoy and relax while reading a book or doing something else, i can do it best while being on the internet So having the chance to be online every now and then would be good, but it wouldn't be the worst thing if it's not possible...

                                        week 42/2014 – 16 october 2014 Jessie J’s ‘comeback’

                                        • Singles Top40

After the big increase from last week, german band Tokio Hotel remains on top of the charts with their single “Love Who Loves You Back”. Quite surprisingly, it’s just the seventh song to stay two or more weeks on top while there are an incredible 20 songs that topped the charts for only one week. Even more impressive is the fact that “Love Who Loves You Back” is the first song to spend more than one week on top this year without debuting there.

The biggest debut of the week comes from UK singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The third single of his second album “x” is called “Thinking Out Loud” and starts at #2. It’s already his fourth single to make the Top5 this year after “I See Fire” (#2, down 31-32 this week), “Sing” (#2) and “Don’t” (#5, down 22-34 this week). At first it looked like it could become his first chart topper but in the end Tokio Hotel remained too strong for Ed. Closing the Top3 is once again Tokio Hotel with their promo single “Girl Got A Gun”.

Swedish newcomer Tove Lo keeps on increasing with “Habits (Stay High)”, reaching a new peak again this time (8-4). Another new entry makes it to the Top5 with “I Lived”, the sixth single from OneRepublic’s third album “Native”. Ariana Grande leaves the Top5 for the first time with “Break Free” slipping 5-6, followed by Anastacia’s “Lifeline” which falls 2-7. Nicole Scherzinger just debuted last week with the second single “Run” and is up 9-8 this time, but it’s not her only entry as the second single from the UK called “On The Rocks” was also released now and makes its way to #9 too. Anastacia’s “Staring At The Sun” is the last song in the Top10, going down 6-10.

Two new entries just miss to make their way to the Top10, but they have the chance to do so next week. Jessie J’s “Burnin’ Up” serves as the second single from her third album which was just released and makes its debut on the Album Top20 this week. “Burnin’ Up” starts at #11, followed by “Glow”, the second single from Ella Henderson’s debut album “Chapter One” at #12. Colbie Caillat falls 7-13 with “Try” in its 13th week, and also out of the Top10 are Carrie Underwood with “Something In The Water” (10-18) and “The Day” by Avicii which tumbles 4-20. Meanwhile, there are two songs that rise into the upper half for the first time. The first one is “Run Run Run” by Tokio Hotel, which becomes their third Top20 entry in less than a month by increasing 23-14; the second one is “You Ruin Me” by The Veronicas which is going up 33-19 as their first entry ever.

Lindsey Stirling slips 18-21 with “Shatter Me”, but expect an increase next week. Marlon Roudette’s “When The Beat Drops Out” (15-22) and Hilary Duff’s “All About You” (19-26) weren’t the biggest songs, but they still surprised with some good stabilty and now both get certified with Gold – for both artists their first certification ever. Four more songs have to leave the upper half of the charts: Anastacia’s “Stupid Little Things” falls 14-23, Banks’ “Waiting Game” is down 17-29 while her other charting song “Beggin For Thread” plummets 20-33 but all of these quite big drops are nothing against the drop for “Anything Goes” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa which is down 16-35.

There are still two re-entries and one new entry which are obviously worth a mention. Maroon 5 are back to the charts with their newest single release “Animals”, coming in at #25 and already outpeaking their single “Maps” (#29) from earlier this year. The two re-entries are both due to two album releases. Ella Henderson released “Ghost” as her debut single earlier this year but failed to make a big impact, but now the song climbs back at #27 reaching a new peak. The other song is “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, which already got some success also due to the fact that it was featured on the deluxe edition from Ariana Grande’s “My Everything”, but after all it’s the lead single from Jessie J’s newest album “Sweet Talker” and makes a re-entry at #30 now.

The biggest climbers are The Veronicas with their ballad “You Ruin Me” while “Anything Goes” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa is the obvious biggest loser.

In a pretty competitive week Tokio Hotel defend their place on top of the Album Top20 with their fourth record “Kings Of Suburbia”, becoming the first fully male act to collect more than one week on top since Bruno Mars did so exactly a year ago with “Unorthodox Jukebox” after his concert here in Switzerland.

Tove Lo not only keeps on increasing on the Singles Top40, but also on the Album Top20 with her debut “Queen Of The Clouds” reaching a new peak again (3-2). The first of two new entries rounds up the Top3 as Jessie J arrives at #3 with her third album “Sweet Talker”. While her debut made it straight to the top and charted for 21 weeks, the follow-up “Alive” peaked at a disappointing #7 a little bit more than one year ago. This means the UK singer increases again with the new debut for “Sweet Talker” and even if her last album isn’t that old, “Sweet Talker” could be seen as her ‘comeback’.

The second new entry is only one place below at number four as UK X-Factor starlet Ella Henderson debuts there with her debut album “Chapter One”. It’s preceeded by the singles “Ghost” and “Glow”, and only the first one made a very small impact on the singles charts before this week, so the high debut for “Chapter One” is actually a good start for Ella.

Anette Olzon is up again with “Shine” (7-5), Anastacia falls 2-6 with “Resurrection”, “Hydra” by Within Temptation is up 10-8 and Colbie Caillat is down 4-10 with “Gypsy Heart”. The last two albums in the Top10 are up from the lower half: The first one is “Shatter Me” by Lindsey Stirling which is up 11-7 and should increase even more in the upcoming two weeks due to her upcoming concert; the second one is Ed Sheeran’s “x” which benefits from the new single and rises 14-9.

Four albums fall out of the Top10 and all of them are more or less surprising. “Cheek To Cheek” by Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa is already down 6-11 in its fourth week, becoming GaGa’s fastest album to drop out of the Top10 by far… “The Fame Monster” had that title before as it left the charts after eleven weeks in 2010. There was only a Top10 back then and it was released even before the album charts started, which makes it even worse for “Cheek To Cheek”, but after all it’s not a typical GaGa album and it’s also still Tony’s first entry ever. After four stable weeks, Chris Brown’s “X” falls 5-12, also out of the Top10 for the first time is Banks’ “Goddess” (8-13) and even more surprisingly the “Acoustic Session EP” by Emmelie De Forest (9-17). The latter is only an EP but its performance so far is still rather disappointing as Emmelie’s debut album “Only Teardrops” charted for impressive 37 weeks and got certified with double Platinum.

Tokio Hotel also get another week on top of the Airplay Top10, defending all three charts this week. “Love Who Loves You Back” got another impressive 65 plays this time, followed by promo single “Girl Got A Gun” (2-2) and the title track of their album “Kings Of Suburbia” (5-3).

While Anastacia got an entry at #3 last week, the US singer has to leave the charts with all of her entries and so Tokio Hotel owns the whole Top5 now, as “Never Let You Down" is up 6-4 and "Covered In Gold" slips 4-5. Swedish singer Tove Lo also still has two entries with “The Way That I Am” (7-6) and “Habits” (8-7) both rising one place.

Finally, the last three places are by Jessie J who just released her third album called “Sweet Talker”. The title track is the highest entry at #8, followed by “Loud” (#9) and “Get Away (#10). “Loud” seems to be the most interesting entry of these three as it features Lindsey Stirling, who got several big hits on the airplay charts over the last two years by her own.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 69 to 346 (-16.6%) compared to last week.

Big drop for "The Days". But maybe it can re-bounce anytime soon?

Good to see "Animals" by M5 debuting. Great song!

Yes, but i guess it will start to drop more and more now.
I'm sure it can do it if it gets some airplay on radios here
Yeah, "Animals" is a great songs, good choice for a single.

"Who You Are" debuted and peaked at #1. it was on the charts for 21 weeks, all of them inside the Top10 as there was only an Album Top10 back then.
"Alive" debuted and peaked at #7, stayed on the charts for only 8 weeks though with only the first week being a Top10 placement... So "Sweet Talker" is already an improvement for her after the last one

                                                • You have really interesting charts and you seem to put much effort into them. I just don't understand where the difference is between your Airplay charts (based on plays) and your Singles Top 40.

Great that Nicole has two songs in your Top 10 I like "Run" much more than "On The Rocks" and I don't understand why the latter was chosen as a single, nonetheless I still like this song.

And Ella's "Ghost" was one of my fave songs back in the summer
