I’ve also noticed that gay guys are often involved when it comes to ‘toxic fanbases’, also in music. I wonder where this is coming from especially considering gay guys are a group of people who deal with the word ‘acceptance’ a lot so they should be accepting as well instead of attacking others.
Ugh, I wish Instead of uniting against our true enemies (people/political figures who are actively trying to make our lives worse), we spend so much time attacking fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community. It's like a group of animals trapped in a cage: instead of working together to break out of/destroy the cage, we just tear at each other inside the cage.

Well, I probably shouldn't be too harsh on it, since I've never played any other detective/mystery games to use as a comparison...but a lot of the gameplay just felt really tedious and repetitive. Tim's such a bland main character too (they definitely gave him more personality in the movie). It's one thing in the core series games where you're supposed to put yourself in the protagonist's shoes, so they leave a lot of things about the main character vague, but Tim Goodman is meant to be a fully-fleshed character with a specific backstory and motivations.

Communication is such a tricky thing. I recently heard that it’s not about how you say something but how the other person receives what you’re saying…
**Hug** I totally feel you there! There's been more than one occasion where I was SURE somebody was being patronizing/insulting in a text or online, but it turned out I was totally off and incorrectly viewing their words through my own poop-colored lenses.

**Nod** I've heard statements like "Intent is irrelevant. Impact is what matters" , and I generally try to keep that in mind. Some people might be on a mission to take objection with everything, but I do want to be as empathic and respectful as realistically possible.

His coming out was also more like a ‘oh, and btw…’ instead of a long letter or something and that’s cool. Maybe I just didn’t find them but it was also cool to see there were no negative reactions to that so I think he did everything right in that aspect.
Yeah, there didn't seem to be a major sales/streaming/airplay drop at all after his announcement! I still wish OTR would fizzle out already but it was encouraging to see that VERY few (if any) hip-hop/rap fans suddenly turned their back on him after he came out.

It's legal for both medical and recreational use in California now (though some cities can still impose restrictions on businesses selling it within their jurisdiction, and unfortunately, that's the case in the suburb where I live). Still, I'd be open to trying it again sometime, since I haven't at all since college.

    • Looks like only Lindsey can beat Lindsey lately "Underground" made a pretty solid first impression, but I'm liking "The Upside" even more! (Though I'd still love to hear a version with some lyrics...)
    • OoOh, "In My Bed" made a similar jump on my latest chart, so it's awesome to learn that we're having similar experiences with that song! I haven't followed Sabrina's career too closely, but this could definitely become my favorite of what I've heard from her.
    • Is "I Fell In Love With The Devil" suffering a bit from getting released too late? I remember you showing that track a lot of love, so I thought it might make a bigger splash here after being announced as an official single.
    • Aw, I missed Ellie's week inside the Top 10. Hopefully there's a video in the works to help it rebound. This current era of hers has really been all-over-the-place sound/style-wise, and it feels like they're just trying anything/everything until she scores a big hit again.
    • YES! "Find U Again" has finally broken through! Usually I wouldn't be quite so excited about a No. 40 debut but it seemed like you weren't feeling that track much at all, so I'll take this over nothing!

Yet another chart that perks me up, Tancel!

Good to see "Higher Love" debut. Hope it climbs! Whitney's vocals just sound divine on the track. I miss her voice.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for taking the time to visit this topic. Congrats on building and maintaining such an incredible personal chart! The effort you put into the summaries, chart runs, certifications, images, and responding to each individual post is just insane, but I most appreciate the music! Your taste is unique, and it's fun checking your chart out regularly. Sometimes I'll pop in and be too lazy to actually post something, but I always enjoy following this. Cheers to seven more years!

You do have a very good point here. It’s weird how offensive some people of our community are. But to be fair, it’s probably similar in every ‘community’? We could talk about the Taylor Swift / “You Need TO Calm Down” situation here; I mean, instead of being happy that she’s supporting us, there were many people from the LGBTQ+ community who tear her down and said it’s all fake etc.
Sometimes I’m really wondering why there are so many people like this. So many things could be much easier if all people would pull in the same direction…

Hmm ok, so I guess I still won’t miss out too much if I never play it. Also, had no idea that Tim Goodman in the movie is actually also the main character in the game, somehow I thought this was made up for the movie

Yeah. Doing things through text/online isn’t the best ways for many things anyway. I don’t even like phone calls as even though you’re basically talking to each other, you still miss out a lot from someone’s gestures and something can still come across as completely different than how it was meant.

That’s so sweet and fantastic! Sometimes it’s very tricky though, as I already experienced situations where I thought I was very empathic and polite, but the other person still got it the wrong way simply because of the (personal) situation she was in. That's why I really respect people who try to go deeper into the communication topic, like studingy communication things and stuff like that. This must be one of the most interesting things about human.

He’s at 15 weeks now, one more to die Mariah and “Despacito”. Will be interesting to see if the new “Bad Guy” remix will take the crown or what happens. I wouldn’t be surprised if it stops at 16 weeks as well. But yeah, it was nice to see there weren’t many negative reactions.

Oh wow, so it must be easy to get it… what about the price? Is it expensive in your opinion? What does that restriction exactly mean?
It’s really a struggle to get it here sometimes, but I love to use it every now and then. Also, I ‘trained’ myself when it comes to its consummation; like when I started using it I had huge problems going up the next morning, I always ate tons of stuff etc. nowadays I have no problem with going up, don’t eat more than normal etc. because I thought that when I use it, I still need to function normally and my daily life shouldn’t suffer from it.

Also, speaking of legalization, I would love if the Swiss government legalize it over here. Switzerland needs millions of millions of Swiss francs for our retirement system but they have no idea how to get it, so a lot of people are screaming that legalizing it would easily cover that hole through taxes (we already have tobacco taxes for normal cigarettes; Switzerland actually has taxes for EVERYTHING, not sure if it’s the same/similar in the US). A shame that it will take our government another million years to finally get what the people already think…

Woah, glad to hear that about “The Upside”! Funny how Akini and you both enjoyed this a lot on your first spins as it took some plays to actually grow on me. It’s the first time since her debut era back in 2013 that she releases two instrumental singles in a row, so maybe one with some lyrics is coming next? Lindsey just confirmed that there will be only two songs with featured artists on her upcoming album, but one of these artists will be Amy Lee and I can't see this not being a single at some point.

Already saw the performance of “In My Bed” over in your topic and it made me smile! Sabrina is also still very new to me, at least her solo stuff as I know her from some featurings (she was also featured on a Lindsey Stirling Christmas single) but “In My Bed” makes a fantastic impression and I’m getting excited for the whole album now (comes out this Friday).

Hmm… not much. “I Fell In Love With The Devil” is already her highest peaking single since early 2015; “Head Above Water” (song) fell 8-11- in its first two weeks so “Devil” is doing really good so far (7-6-). Plus the competition is huge at the moment, I haven’t loved my Top10-15 that much for a long time and I’m playing some of these songs over and over again. Speaking of it, have you seen its video? I still hope this song may grow on you, you know

What are your thoughts on “Hate Me” compared to the previous three songs? It’s not bad, but she could do much better IMO. Her era has been very confusing so far and it’s a shame nothing really becomes a hit, I’m getting Meghan Trainor vibes from this era so far

I knew you would like that debut for “Find U Again”! And who knows, maybe it will climb further?

        Thank you so much

And soooo good to hear you’ve immediately enjoyed it! Surprisingly, it took me a few spins to get into “The Upside” and I even labeled it as one of her weakest songs ever at first, but it became a huge grower for me. So it’s nice to hear it actually clicked with you right on the first spin.

“Higher Love” is a good tune and definitely better than expected, because a collaboration like this has the potential to go all wrong. Whitney’s voice is really, really stellar.

Yeah... not their best, but definitely more interesting than some of their other songs. Unfortunately, I'm getting rather fast over it

It's very "in your face", so that's not surprising.

                      • I knew about new Anna's single through your chart and she is already # 4 here.
                        Push her on the top.
My celebrity crushes : Monika Sedziuviene, Kristina Ivanova (YVA).
In my head I like to imagine LastDreamer in the land of Lithuania right now with a suitcase of simcards, a box of chocolates and a wedding ring. It would be a great base for an epic Eurovision fan fiction.

True, I guess. Though it's already their second single in a row with that impression. I hope their next song will have a better effect on me / us again.

Oh, that's good! So do you like that one? I think she's way too underrated. Anyways, not sure if the top spot is possible for "Home"...

Hopefully you'll find some time to check out some of the ones you'd like to check out, especially Keiino's "Praying" (it's as strong as "Spirit In The Sky" ) but also Astrid S' "The First One" as that one is a big surprise for me and I'm sure you may enjoy it as well. If it doesn't click on the first listen you should give it some more chances as it's been a big grower for me.
I was on holiday so my response is a bit late

Oh I totally fell in love with "In My Bed"! I discovered Sabrina through "Almost Love" last year but didn't really follow her. I already forgot where I discovered the new song I guess some list on Spotify.

I checked out "Praying" and it's cute. I fell like Keiino will be one of those Eurovision acts though that I only listen during the season It's different for me with Mahmood (who delivered an amazing full-fleshed album) and Duncan Laurence (whose winning song is just a masterpiece to me). That third guy's noises of Keiino worked in "Spirit in the Sky" for me but it's disturbing me a bit in the new song

Astrid S' "The First One" is a nice one. Perhaps it's growing on me

For sure. I realize that there will probably always be disagreements over things like the exact best ways to go about achieving equality, but instead we're often so busy shitting on each other over our favorite Drag Race queen or favorite diva Those kind of "debates" can be fun, of course, but people sometimes get so nasty and personal about it. We fire our anger and hurt at each other, instead of at the people actually making our lives worse.

No worries, a lot of the characters and plot points were drastically changed or invented just for the movie. The core premise of "Tim's looking for his father with Pikachu and chemical R is involved somehow" is the same between the game and movie, but the people, Pokemon, and clues/mini-cases he encounters along the way are VERY different. His mom's also not dead in the game (just too busy to help look for Dad).

**Nod** So you're all about face-to-face interactions, eh? Although those can be hard to arrange (especially as people get older and have more responsibilities/distractions), they're almost always worth the effort. I'm definitely not anti-technology by any means, but I do worry that we're losing out on more human contact these days.

That's why I really respect people who try to go deeper into the communication topic, like studingy communication things and stuff like that. This must be one of the most interesting things about human.
Ah, I totally feel you there - even when we have the absolute best/kindest intentions, sometimes things still aren't received well by the other person (and at times like that, it can be especially hard not to get frustrated/defensive) The human mind is so complex.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it stops at 16 weeks as well. But yeah, it was nice to see there weren’t many negative reactions.
Ugggghhhhhhh It doesn't look like the "Bad Guy" remix did well enough, so 16-17+ weeks at No. 1 for "Old Town Road" are basically guaranteed. I'm not entirely against chart records being broken, I just wish it was happening with a song I actually liked.

Swit-zerland needs millions of millions of Swiss francs for our retirement system but they have no idea how to get it, so a lot of people are screaming that legalizing it would easily cover that hole through taxes (we already have tobacco taxes for normal cigarettes; Switzerland actually has taxes for EVERYTHING, not sure if it’s the same/similar in the US). A shame that it will take our government another million years to finally get what the people already think.
Aw, sorry, I don't have much information to offer you there, since I was never the person to actually purchase/obtain it back when I'd try it in college The restriction I mentioned means that no businesses in my city can sell it, but I can't be arrested for possessing/using it after I went and purchased it in a different suburb. It's awesome that you've figured out the right amount/routine so that you can use it without suffering from annoying effects and just go about a normal next day afterwards.

Ugh, breaking down all the (mostly nonsense) stigma surrounding it is SUCH a struggle. The double-standards with alcohol (which can be FAR more destructive to your body) make all that stigma seem even more ridiculous.

I had no idea! The only Lindsey Christmas song I added was "Christmas C'mon," but I'll nab that Sabrina one too for future use.

Plus the competition is huge at the moment, I haven’t loved my Top10-15 that much for a long time and I’m playing some of these songs over and over again. Speaking of it, have you seen its video? I still hope this song may grow on you, you know :)
Well...like you were saying about all the competition right now, I think this video release from Avril is too little, too late to save the song for me. Mainshow's Kylie countdown has me in the mood to revisit her epic catalog, Ed just dropped his album, I might check out Ingrid Michaelson's latest album after loving some songs I saw on GaGarazzi's chart, the Meghan Trainor Survivor has her on my mind, plus a bunch of other random singles too.

Ha, yeah, this feels a lot like the messy Treat Yourself era (though at least Ellie's singles have been doing better than poor Meghan's mega-flops) I was pretty into "Hate Me" for the first couple weeks, but really lost interest lately after getting distracted by all the stuff I just mentioned above.

                                • This might be a pain to look up, but Lindsey holding strong has me thinking: do you know the longest that an act has occupied your Top 2 in a row?
                                • Although his singles haven't had a huge impact on my chart, I love Jax's visuals/aesthetic for this era The Popeye-inspired spinach can for "Harder" is too damn cute!
                                • Gun control is such a terrifying issue in the US right now, it's admirable that Madonna's using her platform to draw more attention to the problem and provoke some change (especially with that video).
                                • Boo @ nothing from No. 6 Collaborations Project making the main singles chart, even though the album itself debuts at No. 3.
                                • Really pleased that Step Back In Time is still inside your Top 5! Not gonna lie, I've been pretty shocked by how well that album's done in Australia and especially the UK. I know Kylie's an icon in those markets, but I didn't think there was THAT much demand for a greatest hits album in 2019 (especially since Kylie's already released several other hits-collections over the years, and "New York City" didn't get much attention at all).

Yet another chart that shows me the bright side, Marsike!

Perhaps it's growing on me
Ah, I hope you had a great vacation!

That's amazing! I'm not really familiar with her previous solo stuff but I'm really enjoying her new (mini) album that came out on Friday. She's definitely someone to watch out.

Aww... I get your point, even though I also love "Praying" a lot. It's so fun and I actually love that the female voice gets the most attention there, as she already was the highlight on "Spirit In The Sky". Speaking of Duncan, I really hope he releases something new soon, he's definitely a promising artist based on "Arcade". As for Mahmood, I probably need to check out his album as there are so many people being so positive about it...

Glad you checked it out - and hopefully it is a grower!

True. Well, maybe that's just the current pop culture we're in and it will change again in a few years, because it hasn't been like that like 15 years ago (at least not as much as it is today).

The core premise of "Tim's looking for his father with Pikachu and chemical R is involved somehow" is the same between the game and movie, but the people, Pokemon, and clues/mini-cases he encounters along the way are VERY different. His mom's also not dead in the game (just too busy to help look for Dad).
Thanks for explaining that Kinda weird how his mom is 'too busy' to help looking for Dad though

I'm definitely not anti-technology by any means, but I do worry that we're losing out on more human contact these days.
Yes, if possible. I'd say face-to-face > writing > phone call actually, but that's just for me personally and depending on situations. You have a good point there and coincidentally, I just read an article somewhere earlier this week that said that young people may have many followers and stuff like that, but there seem to be more young people that have no friends in real life these days than a few years ago.

I'm sorry, but Not because the record has to be broken or because I dislike OSD / like OTR, but more because that "Bad Guy" remix is horrible and it doesn't deserve to get to #1. We'll see what happens, maybe it will get tied with OSD and "Despacito" but doesn't go further, as it's decreasing on streaming a lot lately.

Ah, that's ok Oh, that's an interesting restriction. So it's still not that easy to get it there as there's basically no business that sells it? Sounds kinda similar to the rules over here that I've mentioned earlier (you are not allowed to deal with it, but owning it isn't a problem). Yeah... plus, to be honest... maybe you still remember my sleeping problems and I still do have them, so if I do use it, it's often just once a day like two hours before going to bed.

So, so true!! I really don't get that. Also, over here, if you're driving and they test you, you have a problem even with just a tiny bit amount of it in your blood and that's usually the case even 2-3 days after you used it, while it's allowed to drive with some alcohol in your body, even though it's proven the former is not as dangerous as the latter.

It was already on the regular edition of Lindsey's Christmas album that came out in 2017, but was only released as a single last year. It's a cover of the classic "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and was actually the first time where I realized what a great vocalist Sabrina is.

Aw. Well, I completely get your point as it really seems like a busy time at the moment.

That's true... also you just made me think about it and I forgot that Ellie was already on a decline with her last era while Meghan still got two big hits with "Thank You", so with the break in between this current situation for Ellie was probably more expected. I just would love a new album by her so much but "Hate Me" hasn't done a lot so far and I don't see this changing out of a sudden, so it will be interesting to see how the era continues. Also, same with me... the song isn't bad, it's just not as good as many other songs that are currently out there.

Good question; and I don't think it's a pain to look up, as I'm pretty sure who did this the longest without looking it up... Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die" spent ten consecutive weeks at #1, while "Video Games" was #2 during the first seven weeks. So this must be the longest run in the Top2 for the same artist (and with the same two songs).

Same! This is only his second appearance on my charts, I always kinda wished his material was stronger as I liked him as an artist simply based on these fun single covers.

True. The "God Control" video is definitely her best video since... "Hung Up"? A shame the song isn't better though.

I was afraid you would point that out when it comes to Ed Unfortunately, I'm currently having a really weird relationship with Ed's music. The whole album is quite good, but somehow the tracks themselves don't really stand out enough to make the Top40. 1-2 weeks before the album got released I was confident that at least "Cross Me" and maybe also "I Don't Care" would make re-entries, but they didn't get me back as much as I thought they would

Glad you're commenting on that as I know you're a big Kylie fan! This release has been such a positive surprise to me and I'm really loving to listen to her big hits, especially because I never really cared for her as much as I probably should have (and "Kiss Me Once" was my first album from her). Agreed on the charts performance, but I'm soooooo freaking happy for her. Especially the UK performance is outstanding for a GH by a 'veteran' artist in 2019!

                                    Thank you so much

                                            • The third album by Banks is a huge letdown but I'm glad you seem to enjoy Freya Ridings as well. I haven't listend to her album yet but I do love the singles, for sure.

Impressive chart-run for "The Reckoning" - A pity it didn't reach 30 wks, though

I love to see Sam Smith's debut. Personally, I think it's a huge track. I can't stop listening to it.. It's one of my favourite tunes from 2019, for sure.

                                              Arcade :( - The Acoustic Version didn't help :(

Quite an exciting song on the first listen, yet I quickly got tired of it.

                                                • I like "Underground" more than I do "The Upside", so good to see the former at #1. Also, I checked out "The First One", and it's lovely. I added it to my Spotify library.

Solid debut for "How Do You Sleep?". I don't love it yet, but it was decent on the first spin for me. Great that "Higher Love" has ascended to a new peak, but it's looking like a trek to the top 20!

Impressive chart-run for "The Reckoning" - A pity it didn't reach 30 wks, though

I love to see Sam Smith's debut. Personally, I think it's a huge track. I can't stop listening to it.. It's one of my favourite tunes from 2019, for sure.

                                                    Arcade :( - The Acoustic Version didn't help :(
Aw, sad to hear that about Banks' new album! I think it's probably her best to date for me Glad you're also enjoying Freya Ridings, her debut is really solid.

"The Reckoning" definitely ended up as one of their classics to me just like "Paradise". Such a fantastic, strong tune. I still think 30 weeks will be possible at one point and it's still near the Top40 in many, many weeks and a re-entry here and there is very likely.

YES! Sam delivered with this! Already loved "Dancing With A Stranger" so I'm really looking forward to his new album

No it didn't. But the song did very well on my charts compared to many previous winners. I need a new song by him now though.
