Wow, Ava is doing great with 3 weeks at #1. <3 Had it not been for my beloved Niall last week, Kings & queens would've had a comfortable second week at #1.
Hey Jake! Thanks for coming by <3 I hope you’re doing fine during those crazy times.

Yes, Ava has been slaying for me lately and Kings & Queens is probably her best song to me so far. Depending on tomorrow’s new releases, she may even get a fourth week at #1 (or dethrones herself with Salt…)

Ava dominating that top 3. I notice this has been doing well on iTunes in countries like Switzerland and Germany. Such a shame it doesn't really reflect anything in the charts anymore.
Yes, Kings & Queens got me back into Salt as well. Such a strong Pop tune and – to be honest – it’s currently even back in the race for #1 this week. You’re right about its good iTunes spots in a few markets and thankfully, she’s rising on streaming services as well. It’s already her second highest peaking song in the German speaking countries, having outpeaked So Am I and it may even reach the Top10 in Austria & Switzerland next week

This is still a smooth bop and easily one of the best r'n'b tracks of the year so far. I have noticed Boss bitch is starting to do well on Spotify so its great to Doja Cat to get two hits in quick succession.
Completely agreed! I’m obviously very pleased about Boss Bitch rising on Spotify, as it was the first song I’ve heard by her and it immediately went #1 on my charts

Not gonna lie, i checked out After hours and was a bit disappointed. Considering just how much i love Blinding lights i knew the whole album wouldn't be as euphoric (i had already heard Heartless) so expected a divide between the pop and r'n'b flavoured songs. In your eyes was the obvious next single having listened to the whole album. I was surprised at the overall lack of really amazing songs. A lot of the album imo is style over substance and its a shame. The only other album track i really enjoy is Scared to love but i'd already heard this after The Weeknd performed it on Saturday night live.
I’m still not 100% sure what to think of After Hours to be honest. At first I loved it, but a week and a half later I’m already more over it than expected (and also quicker than with his last two albums). Same about In Your Eyes which is, as you say, the clear next hit on the album, but I’m already starting to get over it… I also love Save Your Tears from the album, definitely a good choice for an upcoming single as well IMO.

This is still an almighty pop bop and i'm definitely curious to hear the new collaboration with Ariana Grande.
Me too! Stupid Love was a good first taste of her new album and definitely better than Perfect Illusion. It’s a great Pop song, but still not as good as many of her classics. With that said, I just love how we are in a new Pop revival! We were hoping for something like this last year and now it’s really happening with Dua, The Weeknd, Gaga, Ava Max & Co and I LOVE that <3

YES! New peak in album release week. I'm still quite surprised you've not taken to this song as its been one of those rare songs that appeals to so many different UK Mixers despite our eclectic tastes.
This really was a weird case because the song should do well for me just based on what I usually like plus so many UKMixers loved it as well. But there were busy times with new music in hte last few months and I remember that I posted a comment somewhere saying that this may become a hit once the album comes out – and it looks like exactly that is happening now. I can’t get enough of it at the moment and it’s probably a case of better late than never

Glad to hear you enjoy this song! It’s a cute little bop, but personally Selena hasn’t been delivering on the same level for me as with her previous releases. This is her very first song to miss out a Top10 debut as a lead artist (and 2nd overall, the other being her Benny Blanco collaboration).

Aww i love how this has become a hit in your chart. Sure it's no Nice to meet you but i love how cute Niall looks in the music video, and the fact its just a really fun video with the elderly couple.
I think this is my most favorite single by him so far, it’s very well done even though it uses a similar formula like some of Ed Sheeran’s songs. A shame it’s not a hit for him… and yes, he looks cute there! <3

It's great to see Zara back and Kygo was responsible for my favourite single of 2019. Like it is is a decent song. There were a few great singles released yesterday and this is amongst them. It's definitely going to shake up my chart tonight.
Great news! It’s a good song for me as well, but I feel like Kygo & Zara could have delivered an even bigger Pop tune.

Love this <3 I wasn't sure what to expect but was curious when Little Mix shot to #1 on iTunes so quickly. Gave it a listen on YouTube and it just clicked on first listen, and i was relieved that they hadn't gone with another tired sounding r'n'b type of song. Break up song might not be revolutionary but it sure appeals to my inner teenybopper.
Another artist who takes the (revived) Pop train and I’m so here for that! Glad they didn’t disappoint you with this, as I know they have done incredibly well on your charts in the past.

This will also jump a lot on my charts tomorrow / on the weekend. What a great era this is for Dua!

I totally get you as this is likely to fall out of my charts after just one week. A shame, as she has been delivering some great tunes in the last few years.

I can only hope that things improve and that we might finally get our lives back on track by the time summer arrives.
I hope so too but being realistic, we will probably have to deal with it for the rest of 2020. A shame, really, as this would have been a concert-heavy year for me with three (Avril Lavigne, Halsey, Within Temptation PLUS Evanescence !!) already being postponed / cancelled Also a shame fort he contest but it’s just what it is. I’m also low-key upset Switzerland was #2 in the betting odds close to #1 for most of the time, so this could have been our year…

Gosh, i can't believe Dua only entered at #2 behind Grimes' album. Needless to say Dua Lipa could well be having her own "Niall Horan" moment next weekend with her album dominating my chart.
Well, to be fair, Grimes‘ album already has three Platinum certified singles, one Gold certified single and a #2 peaking one with no cert (so far) while Dua’s album has no certified singles (yet). But this is a strong debut and will easily surpass the success of her self-titled first album for me. Strong Pop record from start to finish.

    Thank you so much, Jake!

Hailee is OK but there's rather too many tracks using No More "I Love You"'s (originally by The Lover Speaks before Lennox). Minaj used it, too - very recently. Give it a few years before another one, please!
It really is a good track and much better than that Bounce song...

I think there was way more potential to use this sample, so it's a wasted opportunity for Hailee to release it like this. Kinda unsinspired...

Yas! So happy to hear you enjoy all those (Retro-)Pop tunes as well! I really love how there’s such a Pop revival lately as I’m obviously completely here for Pop music to be successful again

Roses and Adam’s new album overall is pretty underrated. I’m actually shocked how strong it is, as I thought I’d be over his stuff now. Thankfully, he completely got me back into his music.

I don't think any individual track is particularly epic, but Rare is probably my favourite post-Scene LP from her.
I don’t think it’s over yet, as Underdog keeps rising on Spotify in some markets and has a strong performance on iTunes, including being very high on US iTunes. It’s definitely her biggest hit since Girl On Fire.

Oh, interesting choice, as many people probably prefer Revival over Rare. I’m not yet sure how to rank those two, as Rare is probably stronger as a whole body of work while Revival has the (much) better highlights.

Nice to see you've given Physical another chance. I've almost played it 100 times and still can't get enough of it. Haven't liked a song this much in a long time. Nice new peak!
Glad you enjoy Physical that much! I still don’t know why I slept on it for this long, but thankfully, the album release got it back on my radar and now I’m also obsessed with it!

Still hanging on after all these weeks despite its singles not making much of a dent on your singles chart. While I enjoy this album, as a big Allie X fan I haven't connected to it as much as previous releases. I would recommend you listen to Super Sunset and CollXtion II if you haven't already. Especially the track Science which is my favourite!
I’ve checked out a lot of songs from her as they appeared on crystalphoenix’ weekly chart every now and then, but none of them really clicked with me until Devil I Know. So Cape God as a whole album has been a nice positive surprise. I’ll check Science out after work today and will edit this post with my opinion
edit: Sorry, the rest of the week has been way too busy for me and I couldn't find time to check it out yet... hopefully on Sunday evening.

          It’s actually very simple.

Singles get 40 points for one week at #1, 39 points for one week at #2 and so on, up to 1 point for being at #40.
Albums get 20 points for #1, 19 points for #2 and so on until 1 point for #20.
          Bubbling Under has no points.

Singles get certified with Gold for 250 points, Platinum for 400 points and Multi-Platinum for 800/1200/1600 etc. points.
Albums get certified with Gold for 100 points, Platinum for 200 points and Multi-Platinum for 400/600/800 etc. points.

I already tried to use my LastFM as well to make the certifications half points / half spins but it didn’t work out. Even though my current system definitely has its flaws, it works the best for me

I wasn't too familiar with the Star Trek universe until I met my partner. He showed me one of the series (Star Trek Voyager) and we basically watched all seven seasons through 2018 and 2019. I also watched the two seasons of the current series Star Trek Discovery plus we just watched two movies on Friday & Saturday (from 1996 and 2002). So I'm slowly becoming a real fan of this franchise
It's sweet that your partner's been successfully converting you into a serious Star Trek fan, so now you can both enjoy it together! Has quarantine life gotten you back into Pokémon at all? (Though I'm not sure exactly what restrictions Switzerland has in place right now). Hopefully you + your partner + family are still doing well amidst all this <3 I've been passing the time with an old free Pokémon fan game (Uranium) and the new Animal Crossing.

Yes, those aren't really interludes for me, they just have that word in their titles. I also have similar feelings when it comes to comparing her albums. Personally, I thought "hopeless fountain kingdom" had the stronger standouts, while "Manic" is better as a whole body of work. It just feels so good to have one of the Pop girls actually delivering something that can be compared to her previous album and not being a disappointment...
Well...at least "You Should Be Sad" didn't totally flop (like poor "Alone"), but I REALLY wish it could've managed better than No. 26 on the Hot 100 (though all the recent album bombs clogging up the chart didn't help). It did quite a bit better in the UK (No. 12), which I wouldn't have expected!

And even though it's my least favorite so far, I still think it's rather underrated among fans. What I really like about the era so far is how she completely reinvented herself compared to her debut, visually and musically, yet she's still Dua. That's something I would've expect from Zara Larsson...
Poor Zara The Future Nostalgia era has been handled pretty perfectly so far (the cohesive sound, her image, single choices, etc), especially compared to how messy things have been for Zara and Ellie the past couple years.

"Honey" and "Cowboy Blues" are my clear standouts though so I wonder what you think about those?
I don't think "Honey" will ever grow on me, but I should give "Cowboy Blues" more chances. I recently revisited the whole album, and CB sounded better than I remembered.

Truly! The only buzzworthy part about this whole album campaign so far was how hard he tried to make "Yummy" debut at No. 1 On the bright side, he's still young enough that he can definitely have another "comeback" era in the future if he works on his image and finds the right material. Maybe if/when he becomes a dad...?
                  • Woah, Ava really is your new pop queen! "Kings & Queens" = 4-week-No. 1, "Salt" = No. 1, "Alone, Pt. II" = No. 1, "Torn" = No. 1 - and all of them still inside your Top 30 (though now poor "On Somebody" looks like a huge flop in comparison) I haven't been quite as enthusiastic about K&Q as you, but it definitely put me in an Ava mood. Shame she's going so unnoticed/unappreciated on most official charts around the world.
                  • Strong re-entry (and new peak!) for "Physical." Also thrilled to see "Break My Heart" right outside your Top 10 already. Dua's singles have gotten progressively better for me this era, and the BMH video really elevated it to a whole 'nother level.
                  • "Worry About Me" might be my least favorite Ellie single...ever.
                  • Damn, "Dance Again" is falling fast. Is that because they dared to choose it over "Ring"? It seems like COVID-19 messed up their plans for properly pushing DA, though this era was already starting to fumble a bit with "Rare" (which deserved to do much better).
                  • Usually you rep pretty hard for Hailee, but "I Love You's" vanished in a flash. I was unimpressed with it at first too, but it's growing on me in my second week with it.
                  • Very impressive, steady run for Miss Anthropocene so far (about on-par with how Manic did, though we'll see if it can keep this up...)
Yet another chart that rules, Tancel!

First of all - so glad to read from you <3 I already thought about hitting you up just to ask you how you're doing during those crazy times. Good to hear you're fine and spending the time with some games. Unfortunately, I'm working in a town office and I'm the head of finance there, so those times are even more stressful for me and there's even more work for me to do. But since I love my work, I'm fine with that plus being so stressed out at work, I actually enjoy that there's less traffic and not so many people around everywhere On the other side, my partner has it harder as a musician, with no concerts. And he's teaching from home, which is annoying as he's home all the time since every store is closed over here. Our quarantine is kinda weird, with all stores (except grocery stores, drug stores) are closed but we're still allowed to go outside, just not in groups. How does it work at your place? And I hope all of your loved ones are still well <3

#26 really seems low in the US, especially compared to other countries. This is easily her second most successful single by her own (so behind "Without Me" and not counting the one with The Chainsmokers) everywhere except the US and maybe Australia, so it's weird how her strongest market didn't pick it up. Still one of the top highlights of the year for me so far!

Yeah... it's a shame, I really thought she'd be a next Pop superstar, basically the European Rihanna or so But guess it's Dua then, and loving "Future Nostalgia" this much, I'm not mad about that at all! I think I'll put "Future Nostalgia" even above Zara's "So Good" when all is said and done. Also agreed how Dua / her team handled the era, that's how you do it. And... speaking of it, how do you enjoy the album? Because you loved her debut and everyone (including me) loves this follow-up...

Ah, good to hear that. Unfortunately, the album hasn't made a long lasting impression on me and with all the good music that is coming out at the moment, I doubt this will change...

Oh, sadly this is so true! But as you say, I also think another chance of a comeback is still possible. Fingers crossed, as he has potential.

Ava has really been slaying it for me lately. It all started with "Freaking Me Out", which was the first time I really enjoyed a song from hers on a "deeper" level, then "Torn" happened and I was amazed, even though just for a short time (at first). But the "Salt"/"Alone, Pt. II"/"Kings & Queens" run has been Pop heaven to me. "On Somebody" has always been so close to the Top40 in the last three weeks, but in the end more new releases than expected get released and it still misses out...

Finally got into "Physical", all it needed was the album release! It's still very hard for me to rank all singles, especially getting this late into "Physical" and having "Break My Heart" smashing for me personally at the same time. But all three singles were so good!

Oh, poor Ellie Probably not the worst for me, but it's about to end up as her first chart entry without a Top10 peak on my charts

To be honest, I've just been completely over the "Rare" era lately, no idea why and this has never happened to Selena before. Thank god she just released this new deluxe edition today and it seems like I found back into it again. Though with the new single, I think "Dance Again" will still leave the Top40 this week... but yes, I would have preferred "Ring" as a single. Are you happy with "Dance Again"?

"I Love You's" is a weird one for me. Very cheesy and barely playable for me, but I just can't get the sample out of my head for two weeks now. Dua did the sample thing way better

Grimes really delivered another fantastic album with "Miss Anthropocene". How did it click with you?

Thank you - and stay safe

This sounded better than expected when I first heard it, but it didn't have much replay value for me, so its life on my charts will be very short...

Of the 3 new Selena songs i only like Souvenir - and it can't be called a single so i'm not charting it.
Really let down by Lohan's song. She should do rock-based stuff that suits her voice or at least something that's a bit beefier and not as tepid. Her Xanax song snippet was better.

Niall's album was great at first and it's still far from being weak or band, but somehow I simply enjoy 20 albums more at the moment Dua has been slaying lately, glad you enjoy her new album as well!

                                              Charli!

Of the 3 new Selena songs i only like Souvenir - and it can't be called a single so i'm not charting it.
Really let down by Lohan's song. She should do rock-based stuff that suits her voice or at least something that's a bit beefier and not as tepid. Her Xanax song snippet was better.
Yay, I knew you would enjoy the entries by Blanche and Charli! Unfortunately, Charli's new one isn't that good for me (yet?).

Aw. I think "Boyfriend" is a low-key bop. But still far away from her best tunes and also far from being as good as "Rare" (the song) was. A shame they didn't push it more.
Agreed about Lindsay, which explains the 19-Out drop here. Surprised they never put out the "Xanax" song.

Also nice #1 and Blanche in the top 10 is fine.
Already saw the appearance of "Shoemaker" on your charts over the weekend, so I already thought you may be pleased seeing it at #1 on my Bubbling Under chart

Glad you like those two debuts on the main chart as well

Nice to see the debuts for "Level Of Concern" and "Easier" (Surprised this debuted late for you)!
Also, Nightwish impact! Have to listen to the album soon.

Oh, I had no idea you were this much into Nightwish that you plan to check the album out! Great news and I hope you will enjoy "HUMAN. :||: NATURE."!

"Easier" never clicked with me last year somehow, but I can't get it out of my head out of a sudden now. Better late than never, I guess?

                                                  Thank you
