        week 28/2016 – 14 july 2016 Lots of new entries…

        • Singles Top40

Lots of new entries this week, but none of them was big enough to make a bigger impression on the charts, so it was quite easy for Lindsey Stirling to defend the top spot with “The Arena”, giving her her tenth week at number one as a lead artist. Tarja is still behind her as “Innocence” sits at #2, while Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer” improves 4-3 and rounds out the Top3.

There are a total of ten new arrivals in the Top40 this week, and the highest one comes in at #10. Jasmine Thompson is definitely an artist to watch, as she scored four Top3 hits last year and already one this year with “Where We Belong”. Unfortunately, that song with DJ Hugel only charted for a poor three weeks in total. The new single is together with Thomas Jack and becomes her seventh entry overall. Country queen Dolly Parton is back on the charts as well, as “Pure And Simple”, the title track of her upcoming 43rd studio album, debuts at #16. Martina Stoessel already has a moderate successful album out right now with “Tini”, and now she’s finally getting her first appearance on the singles charts as well as “Great Escape” debuts at #18. Newcomer Shura gets the last debut in the upper half, as her single “What’s It Gonna Be?” from her debut album “Nothing’s Real” debuts at #20.

Following the Gold certified “Work From Home”, Fifth Harmony released “All In My Head (Flex)” as the second single of their current album “7/27” which debuts at #23. Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott went ‘solo’ and released a song called “Thy Will” from her upcoming solo debut “Love Remains” and debuts at #26. Just one week after “Human (IV Fridays)” – which already falls out of the charts this week – Brooke Fraser already released another song called “The Equator (IV Fridays)” which makes the Top30 as well at #29. Three more new entries to go… after the rather disappointing charts performance of “Ride”, Twenty One Pilots debut at #32 with the soundtrack single “Heathens”. ESC contestant Rykka is also back on the charts, as she released the follow-up to the swiss entry “The Last Of Our Kind”, which is called “Bad Boy” and enters the charts at #38. Last but not least, Olly Murs has released something new as well with the song “You Don’t Know Love”, which is most likely from his upcoming, yet untitled album. The debut at #40 is kinda disappointing though, as all of his last three lead singles debuted and peaked inside the Top20.

Selena Gomez’ “Kill Em With Kindness” slips 3-4, leaving the Top3 after five weeks. MØ’s “Final Song” (#5) and The Chainsmoker’s “Don’t Let Me Down” (#7) stay on the same place like last week, while Charlie Puth’s and Selena Gomez’ “We Don’t Talk Anymore” is sandwiched between them, as it’s up 8-6. Fergie scores her first Top10 hit in nine years as “M.I.L.F. $” rises 15-8, while Inna’s “Heaven” drops 6-9 as the last entry in the Top10.

After a fantastic run of ten weeks in the Top10, Kerli’s “Blossom” leaves that part (10-13). She’s likely to release the third single and its video of her upcoming album very soon though as she’s teasing it lately, so there’s a chance to see her back in the Top10 soon. Demi Lovato’s “Body Say” also leaves that part as it slips 9-11 after just one week. Delta Goodrem’s “Enough” (22-17) and Broods’ “Free” (17-22) are switching positions this week, but both are currently getting played a lot so it’s likely to see both reaching new peaks next week. Zara Larsson’s and MNEK’s smash “Never Forget You” leaves the charts after incredible 34 weeks, which means Kerli’s “Feral Hearts” (24-28) is the longest running entry now with 21 weeks. Also worth a mention is a Gold certification for Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” (27-36), which is actually her very first certification as a lead artist ever, as none of her albums and none of her previous singles got certified. But the song “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth, on which she was featured, got certified with Gold last year.

Fergie’s “M.I.L.F. $” is the biggest climber while Jamala’s “1944” makes a surprising dive (25-39) as the biggest loser this week.

        • Album Top20

As usual during that time of the year, the competition is not strong at all, however there are still four new arrivals on the charts. Similar to the situation on the singles charts, none of them was strong enough for the current number one entry though, so Christina Grimmie’s “Side A” EP spends a third week at #1. It’s getting joined by Christina’s only full-length album “With Love” which debuts at #7. The highest debut belongs to newcomer Shura though, who released her debut album “Nothing’s Real” last Friday, which debuts at #2. Jamala makes the Top3 complete, as “1944” is up 5-3.

Delta Goodrem’s “Wings Of The Wild” is down 2-4, followed by Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” (4-5) and Lindsey Stirling’s self-titled album (3-6). Tom Odell’s “Wrong Crowd” (6-8), Tarja’s “The Brightest Void” (7-9) and Broods’ “Conscious” (9-10) are all losing some positions as well.

As mentioned there are four new entries in total, so two are still missing. One of them is “In Our Bones”, the debut album by Against The Current, which debuts at #12. The fourth and final debut belongs to Marian Hill, who enters the charts at #17 with their debut album “Act One”. Both of these artists never made it onto my charts so far, so it’s not that surprising to see them not making the Top10. Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” (8-16) and Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “The Getaway” (10-17) leave the Top10 with some big drops, while Grace’s “FMA” already leaves the whole charts after just one week.

          • Olly! Not his best, but still a good song with a nice potential.

Marian Hill! I agree with you that album is kinda mediocre, I was so excited ... and then disappointed. I Know Why remains untouched...

                • Listening to "The Arena" now Interesting that they chose a non-vocal track as the lead single. Back to the roots? ;) Although I really, really liked "Shatter Me". (I like the new single . I'm also checking her soundtrack single out now as well ... hmm, that one's too "folky" for my taste )

I commented on "Sledgehammer" in my PC thread (since you talked about it there ), I actually think it could still speed it up once the movie is out! I could imagine pop/adult pop radios jumping on it as they could not really use any of her singles since "FourFiveSeconds" ...

MILF$ is getting a bit on my nerves right now

Lots of good songs this week! I checked out most of the new entries (some because I noticed them on your chart and some for other reasons) and there are several really good ones.

I listened to Shura's album and "What's It Gonna Be?" really stood out; while most of the other songs were OK but sometimes bordering on boring, this one is great and now my favourite song on your current chart! I didn't expect to find a song I liked that much on that album and it will be her first entry on my chart ("White Light" last year wasn't even close).

I'm surprised by how much I like "Body Say", I now think it's better than any song on her latest album! Too bad it's already out of the top 10...

"Great Escape" entering in the top 20 was a surprise, although I knew it was the new single. It's not one of my top favourites on the album but still a good song. I prefer Jasmine Thompson's song by the same title from last year though. And speaking of Jasmine, I listened to "Rise Up" a few days ago and liked it, although I haven't listened a lot to it yet.

"Bad Boy" isn't as good as "The Last of Our Kind" and is unlikely to be a big hit with me .

From last week: 18 (NEW) Grace – FMA

Wow, three new entries by albums that I've listened to and like (two of which I had heard prior to seeing them enter your chart)! Two Christina Grimmie albums/EPs in the top 10! And while Shura's album as a whole didn't make a very strong impression on me it does contain the great "What's It Gonna Be?". I'm glad you listened to Against the Current's album, I really like that one. A little sad to see Grace's album only get a single week though; I like that album more than I thought I would.

Glad you like his new song, but i agree that it's not his best. It's still solid though... but unfortunately it's likely to see this flopping on my charts...

Good to hear you agree on their album, i was afraid you'd be very disappointed by its entry here. Agree about "I Know Why"...

When will Final Song be no.1?

Nice for Christina Grimmie's With Love entry in the albums. The title track is amazing!
Glad to see you like so many entries

I'm sorry but #1 for "Final Song" won't happen The competition right now is way too strong for her, and #4 will most likely remain her peak...

Good to hear you like Christina's entry on the album charts. And i agree, "With Love" is by far my favorite song on it

MILF$ is getting a bit on my nerves right now
Yay! Thanks for checking it out! Why interesting? They always went with non-vocal tracks as the lead, "Beyond The Veil" just completely flopped for "Shatter Me". Glad you like it! A shame that new one is too folky for you... it's currently on heavy rotation for me...

Yes, just saw it! I hope this happens!

Haha don't worry, i'm starting to get over that song since the hype is already gone, so it won't climb further...

Wow, that's really a lot you like at the moment! Really happy about that
As for Shura, i already posted on your charts that i really like Shura's album as a whole, while there's no standout except for "What's It Gonna Be?" for me as well. I never play the other songs except when i'm playing the full album...

Glad you like "Body Say" that much, but as you can see it's 'only' doing moderately on my charts so far, and i guess it won't get a better peak in the future. It's still pretty good though, but i prefer lots of other singles from her to that one.

Well "Great Escape" is one of my clear faves on Martina's album. I wish it would get some success somewhere, but it seems like Hollywood Records is messing it up again with not sending it to radios or promoting it... which is a shame, as the song is great, and she's got a great voice! But yeah Jasmine's song with the same name is better for me as well, that one even reached #3 on my charts back then Good to hear you enjoyed "Rise Up"... unfortunately, it looks like it will have a terrible second week...

Oh what a shame Would have been cool to see an artist from Switzerland (more or less, as she's actually more canadian, but still ) having more than one entry on your charts. But it was expected, as it's quite generic and nothing really good. "The Last Of Our Kind" was unique...

That's great I think this happens rarely haha...
I knew you would like Christina's success. I'm really getting into her (way too little ) discography. I'll check out "Find Me" soon as well
Well i think you'll be disappointed by the performance for Against The Current. While they will stay on the charts for a second week, i think the chances are very small for a third week...

                          week 29/2016 – 21 july 2016 two pop queens and a violinist

                          • Singles Top40

What a week! While Britney Spears’ new single “Make Me…” was already announced a while ago, the release last Friday still came as a little surprise, and as if this release wouldn’t be already big enough, Katy Perry also surprise released a new track called “Rise”. But all good things are three, and violinist Lindsey Stirling also released a new single called “Something Wild” on Friday… so the chart battle begun! In the end, the battle was none, because one of these three basically destroyed the others, and it was… “Something Wild” by Lindsey Stirling! The song got played over 100 times since its release, while “Make Me…” and “Rise” both got only played less than 20 times since last Friday.

So it’s no surprise to see Lindsey Stirling debuting at #1 with “Something Wild” this week, which features a singer with the interesting name Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness. The song serves as the next release of Lindsey’s upcoming third studio album “Brave Enough”, and also as the soundtrack single of the upcoming disney movie ‘Pete’s Dragon’. “Something Wild” is the follow-up to “The Arena”, which only came out two and a half weeks ago, and this marks also the first time this year an artist supersedes his or herself on top of the charts, but “The Arena” only slips 1-2. From both pop queens it’s Britney who got the better debut, as her “Make Me…” debuts at #3. The legendary singer scores her 18th entry on the singles charts since its start back in 2007, while it’s only the second entry for the featuring artist G-Eazy, following “You Don’t Own Me” which made the charts just two weeks ago and already left it in the meantime. While “Rise” has to settle down for a #5 debut, it’s also Katy Perry’s 18th entry, but she ‘only’ scored five top hits so far, compared to eight for Britney.

As if these three debuts wouldn’t be enough, there are another five new entries on the charts and one re-entry. Following one of the biggest hits of the year, Mike Posner released “Be As You Are” as the next single from his latest album “At Night, Alone.”, and debuts at #11 with it this week. Banks also had a fairly successful hit this year with “Better”, and is back on the charts with “**** With Myself” at #25 this week. After a moderate hit and two flops, german DJ Felix Jaehn tries to get a hit again with “Bonfire”, which features singer Alma and enters the charts at #28. For the third week in a row, Brooke Fraser reaches the charts with a new track, this time at #37 with “St. Petersburg (IV Fridays)”. Last but not least, the swiss duo Lo & Leduc have released a new single called “Chapeau”, which features swiss R&B singer Seven, and they debut at #39 with it. Their debut album “Zucker fürs Volk” spawned five Top40 hits last year, including the Top10 single “Jung verdammt”. And as mentioned, there’s also a re-entry, which is by Dua Lipa as the singer is back at #29 with “Hotter Than Hell”.

Delta Goodrem just scored her first entries on both charts two weeks ago, and this week she’s having an even bigger reason to celebrate, as the single “Enough” climbs 17-10 and becomes a Top10 hit now, with her album climbing up the charts as well… the rest of the Top10 is more or less quite stable. Tarja’s “Innocence” dips 2-4, while Selena Gomez’ newly Gold certified “Kill Em With Kindness” leaves the Top5 after six weeks (4-6). Her collaboration “We Don’t Talk Anymore” with Charlie Puth slips 6-7, followed by MØ’s “Final Song” which is down to #8 after three weeks at #5. Rihanna rounds out the Top10 as her “Sledgehammer” is down 3-9.

The competition on the singles charts remains very strong, and so it’s probably a little surprise to see The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” already leaving the Top10 after five weeks (7-12). The former top hit “Heaven” by Inna leaves that part of the charts as well (9-16), but she’s already releasing a new song very soon. Still yet to reach that part is “Lost On You” by LP, which keeps on being stable just outside the Top10 (12-13). There’s also another song which hasn’t reach the Top10 yet but could do it soon, and that’s “Free” by Broods. As expected, their song is having a big jump this week as it’s moving 22-14 and reaches a new peak. Fifth Harmony’s “All In My Head (Flex)” (23-18) and Hillary Scott’s “Thy Will” (26-20) also reach new peaks and climb into the upper half of the charts.

There are a few songs leaving the upper half of the charts this week. Ariana Grande’s “Into You” (15-21) and P!nk’s “Just Like Fire” (19-24) are two of them, and both are two of the biggest hits of the year so far. Less successful, and a much bigger drop is having Fergie, as “M.I.L.F. $” drops 8-26 as the hype is over, while Thomas Jack’ and Jasmine Thompson’s “Rise Up” tumbles down 10-30 and Dolly Parton’s “Pure And Simple” crashes 16-40. Martina Stoessel and Shura also just debuted last week, but the drops for “Great Escape” (18-23) and “What’s It Gonna Be?” (20-27) aren’t that harsh.

“Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots is the biggest climber, as it’s up 32-22, while Dolly Parton’s “Pure And Simple” is the biggest loser this week.

After three weeks on top, Christina Grimmie’s “Side A” EP falls 1-3, leaving the number one position to someone else… and it’s Delta Goodrem! The australian songstress already made a good debut with her latest album “Wings Of The Wild” two weeks ago, and gains 4-1 now, giving her the first number one. Between those two entries there’s the first and only new arrival of the week, coming from newcomer LP, who currently has a moderate hit on the singles charts with “Lost On You”. The singer hasn’t released an album yet, but an EP called “Death Valley”, which makes a great entry at #2.

Christina Grimmie’s other charting entry “With Love” just debuted last week and gets a new peak now by climbing 7-4, followed by Lindsey Stirling’s self-titled debut which is up as well (6-5). Shura’s “Nothing’s Real” drops 2-6, while Jamala’s “1944” (3-7) and Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” (5-8) leave the Top5 for their first times. Broods’ “Conscious” gets stable now, as it’s back up 10-9, while Lindsey Stirling’s “Shatter Me” recovers 16-10 and closes the Top10.

Tarja’s “The Brightest Void” (9-11) and Tom Odell’s “Wrong Crowd” (8-12) leave the upper half of the album charts for the first time. The latter is still having no entry on the singles charts so it’s no surprise to see him starting to drop week by week now, while Tarja will release the album “The Shadow Self” in about two weeks. Apart from a re-entry at the bottom of the charts there’s not really something more worth a comment. The re-entry belongs to Mike Posner, who is back at #19 with “At Night, Alone.”.

                              • Delta no.1 album! I thought it was quite forgettable apart from a few songs (great vocals though).

Good week! YES for Dua Lipa! I knew it was too late for her to be gone already

The Banks song is great. However as much as I like it it doesn't have replay value in the way of putting the song on repeat for me. But that's not a bad thing I guess.

I checked out that Shura song and I like it. It needs to grow on me more though.

So you like the Britney song more than Katy or doesn't the chart reflect that?

Are any other Broods songs eligible to chart for you?

                                • "Beyond The Veil" - you are totally right. I absolutely forgot about that single

Love to see the high entry for Brit I'm getting more and more into that song!

Nice debut for Katy as well, of course.

I'm giving "Kill Em With Kindess" new chances now. You know it was a big track for me before it became a single, and I was a bit over the original when it was a single now. But I'm checking out the remixes now!

Lovely entry for "Bonfire" I think Alma can become a pretty interesting artist ... Did you check out "Karma"? It was on my charts some weeks ago.

It's interesting to see there are other people that aren't the biggest fans of "Hotter Than Hell" either. It was a bit fast-food for me, it entered at #2 but then fell of my charts very quickly. I'm still rooting for her album though!

Love to see Shura on here. Her album is excellent! I'm totally confused that the single(s) is/are though

Well i'm not really familiar with her discography, as i don't know her stuff apart from the new album and her hit singles she had ages ago. I think i need to check out her previous few albums...

Glad you like so many entries this week!
Unfortunately it doesn't look good for Dua this week...

Agree when it comes to the replay value with Banks' new song. That's probably also why this won't do well on my charts, despite being a good track.

Not yet, i guess, as no other track was announced as a single yet.

Haha no problem, there's worse And that release was kinda messy for everything that wasn't Canada, Mexico or the US...

Glad you like Brit's great debut. Unfortunately it looks like #3 will end up as its peak... the competition right now is just way too strong...
Also good you like Katy's debut. I think its second week will be terrible for her standards though...

Oh that's great! Are the remixes worth checking out? I haven't heard them yet, and i'm usually never into remixes...

Can't remember "Karma", so i guess i haven't heard it. I'll check it out though. Her voice on "Bonfire" are very interesting, and it looks like it's becoming a hit, which is cool. Unfortunately, this week will be very 'messy' (aka many new entries) and "Bonfire" didn't impress me enough to survive on the charts...

I'm excited for Dua's album as well, but BTO was and still is easily better than HTH. I hope the autumn release date for GSA is true...

Haha you're probably not the only one who is confused with her singles. I thought "What's It Gonna Be?" was the most current single, and it's also my fave on the album that's why it's on the singles charts. But i guess she already released half of the songs from the album as singles

Glad you like these entries. I think Fergie's position this week will be shocking as well...

Such a great comeback for her!!
                                              Oh that's great to hear!
I think it's a great song, and so much better than the latest singles like "Pretty Girls" and "Ooh La La", but it still belongs to my least favorite singles from her so far... (probably has to do with her strong discography though)

I love this song. He's very good at collaborating with other artists in my opinion, i loved See You Again and Marvin Gaye too!

I love this song. Definitely my favorite Chainsmokers song so far!

                                              23 (18) Martina Stoessel – Great Escape

It caught me off guard to see Great Escape charting. Also nice to see her album is still charting
Glad you love "We Don't Talk Anymore"! I also really liked "Marvin Gaye", but somehow i never got into "See You Again". Seems like i need a female artist on a track with him...

Also glad to hear you love "Don't Let Me Down", such an awesome track. Mine as well... but to be honest i only know two other tracks from them, and one of them was truly awful (that 'Selfie' track...)

I knew you would like to see her entries on both charts "Great Escape" will most likely show some longevity after all. It's a great pop song, she's just unlucky to be part of the charts when it's very competitive right now...

Oh it's the other way round with me... but both are good!
I really like "**** With Myself" actually, but it's still my least favorite single from her so far...

                                              • I checked out your new #1 and it was OK. I think I might like it more without the violin though .

Nice to see the new Britney and Katy songs in the top 5! #5 really is the perfect position for "Rise" ;). Apparently there exists a version of "Make Me..." without G-Eazy. If I could get hold of that maybe the song has a chance to reach the top 10 on my chart too.

"Body Say" going in the wrong direction but at least stays in the top 20. Surprising new peak for "Free"; I'm listening to that right now and think I may have found a standout track on the album in addition to "Couldn't Believe".

Christina Grimmie is doing very well on your albums chart, even if she's no longer #1. Can't wait to see the Find Me EP reach the top 5 too!

Aw that's sad, cause for me it's (obviously, i guess) all about the violin. But at least you thought the song is ok, that's great!

Glad you like these debuts, and you're right about Katy haha... didn't even think about that one yet I think G-Eazy's part is surprisingly good on "Make Me...", but i have to admit i was afraid of it at first as i thought he could 'destroy' the song for me...

"Body Say" will have it hard to go up again on my charts, but i think it should be kinda stable in the upcoming weeks at least...
As for "Free", i got even more into their album last week so both the song and the album will have an even better week this time So i'm very glad to hear "Free" may become another standout song for you

Haven't heard it yet to be honest. I'm currently happy enough with "Side A" and "With Love". Maybe i'll check it out tomorrow though...

Haha that's good I think they already announced the next single which features Halsey, so i hope it's another good track

"Roses" was just okay for me to be honest. It's not bad, but somehow didn't really get me and only made it to #38 for one week on my charts, so "Don't Let Me Down" is easily my fave by them
