week 30/2016 – 28 july 2016 they made her Diamond Hard

    • Singles Top40

Unfortunately my left hand is hurting since Monday and I’m wearing a bondage. While I’m still able to write, I’m not able to write down a lot of text. Compiling the charts was already a challenge, so I have to keep the usual chart text as short as possible. Thanks for understanding.

Kerli scores her seventh number one hit as a lead artist with “Diamond Hard”, and 12th overall, tying Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus as the artists with most number one singles. Kerli, Lana and Miley all only scored #1s so far though, while Lady GaGa also has singles that didn’t reach the top. Lana is the only one who only scored #1s on her own and without featurings. “Diamond Hard” is already Kerli's third number one single this year, following “Feral Hearts” and “Blossom”, and serves as the third single of her upcoming yet untitled studio album.

There are 11 new entries in total, but apart from Kerli and Major Lazer’s new single “Cold Water” (#13), all new entries made a rather weak impact as the remaining nine entries are all between the positions #27 and #40.

Delta Goodrem’s “Enough” is the biggest climber (10-4), while Katy Perry’s “Rise” is the biggest loser (5-17).

    • Album Top20

Country singer Maren Morris makes her first entry on my charts as her debut album “Hero” arrives at #3. In their fifth week on the charts, Broods’ album “Conscious” is finally taking off and increases 9-2, but they have no chance against Delta Goodrem’s “Wings Of The Wild” which spends a second week at #1.

Additionally, there are three re-entries: “Dark Passion Play” by Nightwish (#11), “Shine” by Anette Olzon (#17) and the most surprising one “Anti” by Rihanna (#20). Her concert in Switzerland will be held in two weeks, maybe that one can finally turn the album into a success.

Nice for Colbie, Frenship and Skyler entries. I like them all but i'm starting to LOVE Capsize!

                • I checked out the KEWK remixes and they're pretty listenable, nothing spectacular though.

Obviously the Dua album will now be released in February They shouldn't have announced the September date in the first place

OMG what happened to your hand my dear Get well soon!

Damn I have seen new Kerli threads, so she really released someting new ... Let me check it out later.

I really like "Cold Water". I guess it's the song with Justin included that is pretty instant for me!

                      • I wonder what it would take for a new Kerli single not to be #1 on your chart! I listened to it a couple of times and it sounds interesting but unfortunately I'm not sure I like it. "Feral Hearts" is definitely my favourite out of the three songs she released this year.

2 (1) Lindsey Stirling feat. Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – Something Wild

36 (33) Sergey Lazarev – You Are The Only One *G*

These are the songs I know I like (or better). Good to see "Body Say" holding relatively steady. Interesting to see Vanessa Mai chart again. I didn't know this song was the new single and I had to listen to remember which one it was. It's good but nothing spectacular. (And I seem to be over her voice for the time being; even "Der Zaubertrank ist leer" has left my chart .)

I also checked out the new songs by Skylar Grey and Cher Lloyd, who both has had songs I liked in the past, but not sure yet If I like these new ones.

Great to see Maren Morris's album enter at #3! And what happened with Broods? Hopefully this was the last week with that Delta Goodrem album at #1.

I hope your hand is better now! Gotta learn to stay away from those bar fights . (I also hurt my hand today, in a very stupid wish-someone-had-filmed-it-so-I-could-upload-it-to-YouTube way, doesn't seem to be too bad though.)

                          That's great!

Very glad you like Kerli's debut. Well, i had the choice between waiting a week (and having the risk that i'll be over it by that time) or let it onto my charts. I was so blown away on the release day that a #1 debut was a given though, so i chose the second choice. Luckily i didn't work on the charts that much by that time so i didn't have to do everything again, as i'm usually already nearly done with everything by tuesday/wednesday...
As i said, i was blown away. I had to laugh a little bit when it started cause it's so badass, which is not typical at all for her, especially after "Feral Hearts" and "Blossom"... i expected another dark ballad... but it's awesome! Definitely was a good choice to wait for it to listen to it for the first time in the car - i had a mini solo party at 6am
Hmm well she already did some dance stuff in 2010 - 2015 so the newer fans will like it, while there's still a good message behind the track so 'old' fans may like it as well.

Good you like these entries - "Capsize" is also the one from these that will have the best second week here

Lovely to see Capsize! I'd like to think that was because of me
Very glad to hear this about Kerli! It makes me so happy that she's a little successful in some other personal charts as well

It was because of you I'd never listened to this without you... so thank you for that

OMG what happened to your hand my dear Get well soon!

Damn I have seen new Kerli threads, so she really released someting new ... Let me check it out later.

I really like "Cold Water". I guess it's the song with Justin included that is pretty instant for me!
Ah okay... hmm maybe i check them out as well when i have some time left.

Ugh i read it in her album topic. How stupid is that? By that time all the hype is gone. And it's not even a sure thing that she could get a bigger hit than HTH/BTO :x It's like they want her album to be a flop...

Haha thanks a lot. No idea why, but it looks like pinched a tendon. Thank god it was noe tendinitis, cause that was the first thought. Guess that's an 'office disease'... but it's already much better, so i'm able to write all the blabla's i'd like to write (and i still wrote way too much when it hurt last week, i just can't not write )

I hope you will like it! It's completely different to "Feral Hearts" and "Blossom"

That's good. It still has to click with me more i guess, but it's pretty good for sure

Good you like these... and "We Won't Talk Anymore" was always a clear highlight on Charlie's album, so i'm glad they released it as a single. It should stay quite stable in the upcoming weeks

Oh i'm surprised how good it is! Which are your favorite songs on it?
Not sure about a new peak though. #3 is already quite good for someone who never had an entry on my charts before, not even one on the singles charts, and it's not my favorite genre at all. Plus there are a few new releases over the next weeks so there'll be more competition. But she should be fine...

Good question. It's not impossible at least - her debut single "Walking On Air" debuted at #4 (but rose 4-1 in its 2nd week), "Stardust" with DJ and Producer tyDi debuted at #3 (and rose 3-1 in its 2nd week), "Worlds Apart" with Seven Lions only debuted at #7 (and rose 7-4-2-1-) and "Build The Cities" with Karma Fields debuted at #2 (and rose 2-1 in its 2nd week)... so out of 12 entries, a third didn't debut at #1. But they all peaked there later, so there's still that.
Anyway, as for "Diamond Hard", it faced strong competition as "Something Wild" was still on heavy Rotation until Kerli's release, but i was so blown away by that track that a #1 was a given.
There were already a few artists who didn't score a #1 after scoring many of them. Britney Spears is one of them, with "Pretty Girls" being the first song for ages that didn't peak at #1 (and now "Make Me..." as well). Another artist who comes to my mind would be Carly Rae Jepsen, who only scored #1s with "Kiss", while "I Really Like You" only peaked at #3.
Glad you checked it out though, at least you thought it's interesting

                            Glad you like so many!
Agree about Vanessa's voice, that's probably also why i wouldn't have picked "Meilenweit" as the second single. However, the song is growing on me since it's part of my weekly chart (so it's part of my playlist and i'm listening to it several times a week). The lyrics are quite good on this though and it's very catchy.

Wouldn't mind if you wouldn't like the new ones by Cher and Skylar as both won't do too well on my charts...

Not surprised you like Maren's debut for her album. It will be joined by her first entry on the singles charts this week (but not a high one, but better than none ) Broods' album got played a lot and i have several songs in my mind all the time, so that's why it climbed. And there's a very, very, very strong new album that got surprise released last friday that could push Delta away from the #1...

Thanks - and yes, it's much better now. I don't visit bars though, i'm too boring for that i pinched a tendon... thankfully no tendinitis. But that's what you get when you're working at the computer and still write a lot at home on the computer as well...

                              week 31/2016 – 4 august 2016 her Shadow Self

                              • Singles Top40

Kerli gets a second week on top of the charts with her newest single “Diamond Hard”, giving her already the eighth week at #1 this year alone. While the previous two singles “Feral Hearts” and “Blossom” already got a little push last week as well, they’re now both back in the Top20, as “Blossom” climbs 16-11 while “Feral Hearts” ascends 25-16. Kerli’s biggest competition this week came from finnish heavy metal queen Tarja. Following the prequel album “The Brightest Void”, the singer already released her album “The Shadow Self” a week earlier on Apple Music than its original release day, and as an Apple Music consumer, I was already able to listen to it, which also pushed her current single “Innocence” which rises 3-2 in its sixth week on the charts, all of which were in the Top5. Lindsey Stirling closes the Top3 with her former top hit “Something Wild” which slips 2-3.

There are only three new entries this week and one re-entry, which is much less than the eleven new entries from last week. The highest debut goes to Broods, who released a video for “Heartlines”, which seems to be the follow-up to “Free” and becomes their first Top10 arrival by debuting at #8. “Free” just missed a spot in the Top10 last week and dips 11-13 this week. The second highest entry goes to The Chainsmokers who are back with a new track called “Closer”. While “Don’t Let Me Down” is still doing good and earns them their first Gold certification (15-15), the new single debuts at #18. The song features Halsey, who already scored three entries on the charts on her own, including two #8 peaking singles. The third and final debut goes to country singer Maren Morris, who debuts at #36 with her first single notation “80s Mercedes”, one place below Tarja’s “No Bitter End”, which is back on the charts due to her new album release.

The rest of the Top10 is quite stagnant. Lindsey Stirling’s “The Arena” is up 5-4, followed by Selena Gomez’ “Kill Em With Kindness” which also rises one position (6-5). Delta Goodrem’s “Enough” is down 4-6 while Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” stays at #7 for a third week. Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer” (10-9) and Britney Spears’ “Make Me…” (8-10) make the Top10 complete.

MØ’s “Final Song” leaves the Top10 after a very good chartrun (9-12), but the song gets certified with Gold this week, being her first song as a lead artist to get certified. From the many debuts a week ago, three are already leaving the charts, with a few more like Miranda Lambert’s “Vice” (30-39) and Elle King’s “Good Girls” (32-40) being about to leave the charts as well. However, four of them are rising this week, with Vanessa Mai’s “Meilenweit” having the most promising second week as it’s up 29-21. Brooke Fraser’s “The Dead Don’t Dance (IV Fridays)” also jumps a lot (27-22) and together with “St. Petersburg (IV Fridays)” (33-31) it seems like she’s finally having some success after having two ‘IV Fridays’-songs leaving the charts after just one single week. There’s another promising climb, and that’s Hillary Scott’s “Thy Will”, which increases 20-14 in its fourth charting week. The Lady Antebellum singer just released her solo debut last week, which is likely to make its appearance on the charts next week.

Kerli’s “Feral Hearts” is the biggest climber for a second week in a row, while the biggest loser is also the same song like last week, and that is “Rise” by Katy Perry. The song is having a terrible third week as it tumbles down 17-32…

Tarja is back! While the siren already released the mini album “The Brightest Void” as a prequel to her fourth rock album “The Shadow Self” a few weeks ago, the regular album was set to be released tomorrow. It’s still released tomorrow physically and digitally, but Apple Music users already had the chance to stream the album a week earlier, so last Friday, so she used the same strategy like for the prequel. And since I’m an Apple Music consumer, it’s no surprise to see “The Shadow Self” debuting at #1 already this week. It becomes her ninth consecutive number one album, and her tenth entry overall, making her the artist with the second most entries ever on the album charts, and extending her lead as the artist with the most number one entries ever on the album charts. Her former band Nightwish still holds the record for most entries, as twelve of their releases made the album charts, mostly thanks to their concerts in 2012 and 2015 which brought back their old releases.

It was good to have that surprising early release from Tarja, as the album charts would have been quite boring without it. The whole Top4 from last week only slips one position each, so Delta Goodrem’s “Wings Of The Wild” (1-2), Broods’ “Conscious” (2-3), Maren Morris’ “Hero” (3-4) and Christina Grimmie’s “Side A” EP (4-5) are still back to back. The latter gets certified with Gold this week, being Christina’s first certification, and the first certification post mortum. Her other charting album “With Love” remains at #6, followed by LP’s “Death Valley” EP which is down 5-7. There’s a second new entry in the Top10 coming from Jason DeRulo. The singer already released his first best of called “Platinum Hits”, which surprisingly doesn’t contain all of his hits. The debut at #9 is still his best result ever, as his last set “Tattoos” stopped at #10. Charlie Puth’s “Nine Track Mind” (9-8) and Shura’s “Nothing’s Real” (7-10) fill out the Top10.

Tarja’s debut atop of the album charts also brings back her last rock album “Colours In The Dark” (#16) and pushes “The Brightest Void” a little bit as well (18-15). The charts seems to be a little class reunion, as her former band Nightwish is currently charting as well at #11 with “Dark Passion Play”, while Tarja’s follow-up lead singer on the band, Anette Olzon, is charting as well with her solo album “Shine” (17-12). Speaking about “Shine”, the album gets certified with 6x Platinum this week, being the most certified release on my charts of all time.

                                  • Hi Tansike

                                    1 (1) Kerli – Diamond Hard

I only checked this out last Saturday and quite liked it. I love how striking Kerli's music videos are and i added this to my list of potential new entries. So you might see Kerli in my top 20 tomorrow.

3 (2) Lindsey Stirling feat. Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – Something Wild

The music video is cute and the song itself has been growing on me, i just thought it was ok at first so this could also be another Tansike #1 that appears in my chart too.

                                    13 (11) Broods – Free

The FSC impact in full effect as Free looks set to make my top 20 tomorrow. It also stood out to me as an obvious winning song when i first checked the song out.

                                    16 (25) Kerli – Feral Hearts *P*

Wow, what's led to Feral hearts making such an impressive climb back up your chart?

18 (NEW) The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey – Closer

Maybe it'll be a grower but when i checked this out on Youtube earlier this week i found it a bit corny, moreso the lyrics but i don't think its as good as Roses or Don't let me down.

                                    27 (34) Frenship + Emily Warren – Capsize

Nice to see this climbing up your chart, its been so close to making my top 5 so its left to be seen if Capsize makes it tomorrow. I've not even started to compile my new chart yet so who knows where anything will end up.

                                    32 (17) Katy Perry – Rise

Wow! What a drop it seems you really have tired of Rise quite fast. Will the music video or the start of the Rio Olympics help this stabilise in the coming weeks, or is Katy destined to exit next week?

                                    Also love these:

5 (6) Selena Gomez – Kill Em With Kindness *G*

                                            37 (28) P!nk – Just Like Fire

I knew Kerli would still be no.1.

Nice entry for Broods. One of my favourites on the album. Does it remind you or LORDE?

Capsize, Final song and that Shura song - I'm loving at the moment!

                                            • I just checked out your #1, and whilst I wasn't totally won over by it, I did like some of the song's elements. I'll download it and see if it's a grower.

There are so many highlights this week: "The Arena" and "Kill Em with Kindness" in your Top 5, "Sledgehammer" sticking around in your Top 10, "Thy Will" being so high, and "Vice" being present! I'll have to check out that other Lindsey song later.

Yeah Katy's performance so far is very disappointing... glad you like all those entries! Tarja's new album is awesome. I think she delivered another fantastic record!

                                                Hey Jake

I've already commented on your charts that i'm very happy about these three songs making an appearance there. Very glad you like them all!
Agree about Broods, this was such a clear winner for me as well

Wow, what's led to Feral hearts making such an impressive climb back up your chart?
When "Diamond Hard" got released i made a little playlist with "Feral Hearts", "Blossom" and "Diamond Hard" which i played several times, including while driving to work/home. So i've listened to this song quite often, and much more than usual, which made me liking it again so it rose.

Maybe it'll be a grower but when i checked this out on Youtube earlier this week i found it a bit corny, moreso the lyrics but i don't think its as good as Roses or Don't let me down.
"Don't Let Me Down" is for me so much better as well, but "Closer" is easily already their second best song for me, but to be fair i never really got into "Roses". "Closer" is good, but not sure if they can beat the #18 peak...

Nice to see this climbing up your chart, its been so close to making my top 5 so its left to be seen if Capsize makes it tomorrow. I've not even started to compile my new chart yet so who knows where anything will end up.
That's great! Personally i think i need to get more into the song, as it won't go further this week. Not sure if this can really take off on my charts to be honest.

Wow! What a drop it seems you really have tired of Rise quite fast. Will the music video or the start of the Rio Olympics help this stabilise in the coming weeks, or is Katy destined to exit next week?
She won't exit the charts this week, but it also won't rise Anyway, as you said, maybe the Olympics can help. Video probably won't cause i haven't watched it yet and don't really care to watch it somehow...

...the question is how long will she be at #1? While i got slayed when i listened to this at the first time and still loved it a few days later, it seems that i'm starting to get faster over it than i got over the previous two singles...

No it doesn't, but it's the song written by Lorde, isn't it? But to be fair i never was a huge fan of Lorde's album, so i never really played it a lot... otherwise i'd probably hear Lorde.

Glad you like all these so much!

                                                  • It's no surprise that Tarja's album has hit your number 1 spot! I still haven't bought it (I think I will wait until it gets discounted) but I am curious about your review in UKmix's album thread! - "Innocence" is indeed one of her better singles. I'm glad to see it doing so well on your chart!

Also, it is amazing to see "Kill Em With Kindness" smashing!

Hopefully, "Glory"'s release will be able to let "Make Me..." rebounce a bit.

"We Don't Talk Anymore" (one of the best collaborations this year) needs to rise as well
