Decent debut for "Star Walkin'". The song's honestly better than I thought it'd be.

I'm having mixed feelings about Star Walkin'. There's something about the song that I really enjoy, but somehow I end up skipping it way more than I should. Glad you're enjoying it though, and it's surely better than Late To Da Party!

Also yay so glad you're enjoying I Just Want A Lover too

Besides the singles, my most-played Plastic Hearts songs are "Never Be Me," "Gimme What I Want," and the title track. (Looking at last.fm now, I'm surprised "WTF Do I Know" isn't higher, since I remember liking it a lot too). Don't leave out "Adore You" from Bangerz, though! (I've always had a soft spot for that one - it went to No. 1 on my chart).
Yes exactly, and Taylor releasing Reputation and starting it with Look What You've Made Me Do & its video just felt so right back then. Side note, but I actually miss these times, I feel like that was the last time a video release was such a huuuuge event.
Ah ok, so I assume "autumn" would be the "proper" one?

So we share some faves there <3 I also really enjoyed the title track and I feel like it could have been a great single too!
Yes yes, Adore You was also a #1 on my chart (yay for it being one on yours too!) but I always think of it like a "lost single" that no one cares for these days

I just hope she won't be another Zara Larsson situation because looking at how both singles performed so far, I'm slightly worried. I was hoping for another Dua Lipa case... thank god she got a hit with The Motto at least, but Million Dollar Baby is still doing poorly on streaming... fingers crossed they will still stick to the early 2023 release date though! Another reason why pushing it back was smart - the last quarter of the year is always too busy and competitive, while early year is usually the opposite.

    Ah, got it!

I'm honestly surprised how unfamiliar I am with her discography, because I'm familiar with her name / her as a singer for so long now, but guess I just never checked out her stuff after all and if I did, it didn't leave much of an impression. With that being said, I just checked out Please Don't Touch and it sounds great! Slowly starting to feel I missed out on a lot of good stuff by never checking her out more...

Good to hear that there's still some stuff on their albums that you enjoy musically as well! But I see a pattern in their singles, and I'm actually surprised they keep releasing similar sounding singles when they would have so much more to offer.

Ok, fair enough and good points actually. Maybe it's just the part inside of me that loves to do my personal charts and with just official singles being allowed to my singles charts, her showing there has been rather underwhelming as I wasn't the biggest fan of most of the official singles, and I would've loved to put Holy, Your Age, Imagining or other faves high up that chart. But yes, you're absolutely right about being able to discover some more gems going into the album, makes for a much better listening experience!

I definitely wasn't expecting this level of success for their collab (it's especially mind-boggling that THIS is becoming Kim's long-awaited mainstream/official chart breakthrough, but better late than never)!
    • I was just thinking about that new ALMA song thanks to flopho's chart, so I should add it ASAP!
    • In the opposite situation of Sam & Kim, I'm surprised and disappointed that "Star Walkin'" isn't off to a stronger start on official charts coming off three big global hits from Montero. (Maybe it was too soon? His videos tend to help his singles a lot too, and I'm not sure there's plans for a proper/non-animated vid for SW).
    • Well, Rina may have lost the Album Crown, but at least she's still dominating Bubbling Under!
Yet another chart that gave me what I want, Tancel!
Yeah, it feels somewhat weird to see this being such a huge hit right away and especially for Kim, who never ever charted on most official charts out there (fun fact, Switzerland is one of the very few countries she already charted officially, as she was featured on a song by Kygo <3). From what I've seen this is yet another TikTok success, so having a hit / doing promo on that platform keeps being the best way to success these days. Anyways, you say you're not loving Unholy as much as you've loved other songs by them, so I hope the song becomes a grower for you

Yes, I think Alma has never (or rarely) been that strong, definitely a big, nice surprise coming from her! And I love to see how it reaches several personal charts at the moment

Did you forget about Late To Da Party? Lil Nas X already released a new single around three months ago and people didn't care for it at all, so Star Walkin' isn't his first single coming from the Montero era. I think he's all about the gimmicks and if he doesn't find one that is working, then the song is also not working on the charts.

She still does! Truly a highlight of the year!

By the way... I really recommend Noah Cyrus' I Just Want A Lover (current #1 on my singles charts). Not sure if you already checked it out & maybe didn't like it hence no comment yet, but if you haven't checked it out yet, please do. Somehow I feel like you may like it (and I'm just curious to hear what you think about it ).

    Thank you so much!

Very nice to see ALMA debuting here, the song immediately clicked with me. Enjoying all three Noah songs in your Top 10!
It's a great tune for sure and I'm so, so happy to see Kim finally having mainstream success. Though I would've preferred other songs from her doing so.

Yas, definitely a big surprise coming from her as it's been a while since I cared so much about a song from her. Also nice to see this entering more and more personal charts here <3

And yay, so glad to see some love for Noah. She's so underrated and I'm surprised why. She finally found her own sound with the album and it totally clicks for me. Especially I Just Want A Lover screams to be a hit single - kinda a more Pop-y Lana Del Rey.

Great summary of Ancesstress! The thing about Björk is that I keep being fascinated by her stuff, yet there's often times nearly zero replay value (at least for just singles) so the songs don't do well for me.

Ha, you can guess which Sawsbuck version is my favorite

Night Crawling was my favorite song on the album by far, so that's the one I'm sad it didn't get a chance as single (though realistically I don't think it would have been a hit anyways). I also really love Gimme What I Want and WTF Do I Know that were good single options. What about your favorites?

Also to be fair, all of Miley's eras have been cut short due to few single choices. Younger Now only had Malibu & its title track, Bangerz had just We Can't Stop & Wrecking Ball, Can't Be Tamed only had its title track & Who Owns My Heart.

Sorry, I should've phrased that better: I just meant that her first-ever solo hit on your chart became her first No. 1 too. Her first-ever solo hit on mine was "Please Don't Touch" (thanks to seeing it on Cheap's chart).

I also really enjoy the ballad The Happiest Girl.
Many thanks! Yeah, all the tracks you mentioned are closer to what I'm looking for than "Pink Venom" and "Shut Down."

Speaking of Rina, personally I'm lowkey confused by the singles choices, knowing the whole album now. But so happy she delivered a great record! <3
I've seen several people share that feeling, but the rollout really worked for me. I think they picked a good variety of pre-release singles (country/pop, pure pop, ballads, pop/rock), but still left some gems to discover when the full album dropped, so it felt win-win to me.
    • Go Sam & Kim! I'm not loving "Unholy" as much as I've loved other singles of theirs, but it's still really exciting to watch them smashing so hard right now (in the UK, the US, and more)!

Very nice to see ALMA debuting here, the song immediately clicked with me. Enjoying all three Noah songs in your Top 10!

"Ancestress" is another piece of art Björk, did we expect anything less? Whilst visually it is Scandi folk, the audio is more reminiscent of cantonese or old school Japanese folk/pop.

Haha To be fair, the two latest singles Phantom and Hurricanes are good, but not that outstanding to me and overall even among my lesser faves on the album. If something like Your Age, Imagining or Holy would have been the new single, she definitely could have had the #1 on all three charts this week. Glad you're enjoying Raye's Black Mascara as the #1 too though!

Yes, I Just Want A Lover is pretty good! Noah deserves more love <3

early 10s Eurovision but also Gaga vibes!! That's probably why I'm enjoying Holy that much Glad we seem to agree on some of the faves from Hold The Girl

Ah, were there any songs on Plastic Hearts that didn't get released as singles that might've smashed harder on your chart (if they'd been eligible)? That era really fell apart fast after the first two singles were decent-sized hits (though they deserved even better, especially in the US).
Probably not as "bad ass" as the word bad ass would suggest, but 2017 was a special year for me when I broke up with my ex, had to move out and had to navigate through a completely new life after seven years and a part of me thought that was pretty cool and I had a new awakening. Oh yes, same here! btw is it "fall" or "autumn", I always get confused by that but I guess it doesn't really matter as people understand both (with "fall" being a word that means something else too).

Wait, I had no idea her older albums weren't available over there - crazy! That wouldn't be a problem nowadays thanks to streaming... and nice to hear you still got all of her older albums. Also that means you're a fan for over 20 years, cool! Somehow I didn't realize you've been a fan for so long, but that's probably only because there was a time when she wasn't as "popular" on the charts & here in the forum and suddenly she's been releasing quite a few things.

It "only" peaked at #13, but stayed in the Top40 for 8 weeks. She got two more Top10s with Your Type (#6) and Boy Problems (#8) but they only charted for 4 / 3 weeks so Cut To The Feeling ended up as more successful overall.

Well next year for sure. I mean I knew from the start that releasing this year wasn't realistic in her case... releasing early in 2023 is much better from a strategic point of view and I'm totally fine with that. I just hope Million Dollar Baby rises to become at least a moderate hit on the charts until then; or they should just include The Motto to the tracklist for streaming points.

I mean we had 5935243 singles before Heaven & Hell came out, and so far we "only" have two with Diamonds & Dancefloors so the delay is not too bad.

    • Beautiful album-effect-rebound for "Hold The Girl" back into your Top 5
    • We were just talking about Carly Rae, but it looks like we're having different reactions to "Talking To Yourself" (it's my favorite of the available offerings from her upcoming album by far)
    • I forgot that "Catch Me In The Air" had done that much worse than all the other Hold The Girl singles/pre-release tracks. I did think it was pretty forgettable at first/fine enough filler, but it's really grown on me over the past month or so
    • This No. 1 single + No. 1 album + No. 1 Bubbling Under combo is perfection! Absolutely adore all three
Yet another chart that's definitely no black sheep, Tancel!
Yes and I basically have to thank you for that discovery - if she wouldn't have been so successful on your chart, I probably would've never heard it. Such a bop and it's somewhat crazy to me that I never really cared for her before, as I feel like I've been familiar with her name for years! You say "too" so Black Mascara was also her first solo hit on your chart?

That probably means I'm even less of a Blackpink expert as I'm not familiar with two of the songs you just mentioned But just listened to As If It's Your Last & Forever Young and they're both really good! I'd say Yeah Yeah Yeah and Hard To Love may be the closest from the new record, but probably still not what you're really looking for - or Ready For Love if compared to Forever Young. I also really enjoy the ballad The Happiest Girl.

Yes, seems so, because Talking To Yourself is not really sticking with me and will experience already a big drop this week While Beach House may continue to do well enough and definitely will end this year as one of the better Pop songs for me.

Good to hear that Catch Me In The Air has been such a grower for you! I was hoping for the same as soon as the album drops and it definitely also grew on me a bit, but just a bit & it gets overshadowed by everything else that has been going on. Evermore dropped two days before my birthday with a cover art that screams autumn / Fall, my favorite season by far. Lover in a time when I was loving that sound. Reputation when I was in a "bad ass" mood myself etc. It's also fantastic how she always kept the success, other artists weren't that successful when trying out different genres and while fans always have new things to discover through that, she also keeps *her* in every album.

I liked it a lot, you remember that correct. But she only had #1s on the singles charts until the Younger Now era, where she at least got three Top3 entries. But Slide Away then "only" peaked at #6, Prisoner peaked at #4, and finally Angels Like You just made it to #21. Still so far from being a flop of course, but she's definitely on a downward trend there.

Surprise: Beach House! All of Carly's first six chart entries also moved past the Gold cert mark, none of her songs ever did it since then but Beach House may get there in 2-3 weeks. Prior Beach House, Cut To The Feeling has been her biggest hit between Run Away With Me and now.

It's realistic that she may join the 10+ #1 club already next year! Anyways, glad it's also doing better for you compared to Maybe You're The Problem.
Especially if she actually finally releases Diamonds & Dancefloors Her team is ridiculous if they're waiting for another single of hers to do as well as (or even better than) "The Motto" before dropping that album.

Thanks for the recs! I'm not so sure about "Cruel," but "Blue" made a great first impression.
    • RAYE!! I forgot that this marks her first-ever solo/lead appearance here too. A lot to celebrate!
    • I'm definitely no BLACKPINK expert, but their more recent singles seem much less poppy than the songs I loved from them in the past ("As If It's Your Last," "Forever Young," "Bet You Wanna," etc). Is there anything like that on Born Pink?
