Ah, love that Let Me Get Me shoutout, as that one has always been among the better songs on Rare for me as well! But also "good" to know you actually think similar as in nothing from Rare is among her best songs ever. In that aspect, I'm still a bit mad she scrapped the plans for the album with Bad Liar & Fetish, as both songs are still so good and that album could have been amazing & super interesting compared to how Rare turned out.
Yeah, do you know much about that? Was the change in plans mostly due to her kidney transplant/health issues?
Haha, yes, I used the Sleep Powder > Leech Seed > (Sleep Powder again if needed) > U-turn combo sooo many times! Love hearing these memories with Hoppip! I was so excited when I saw them appearing in the early routes of SV, it was a "must catch" and it didn't disappoint Unfortunately, I haven't played for like two weeks or even more now. Back into being busy again... but I'll try to catch it up again later today as there's a new Tera Raid event happening this weekend and I don't want to miss it. I just saw I missed one event last week though. Anyways, the last time I played I always did Tera Raid events to get some stuff because I'd like to plan doing a team for competitive - would be fun to try that out for the very first time especially now that it's as easy as never before to get DV's / IV's etc. My Dex is already rather full but that hasn't been among my top priorities anymore.
I finally reached the credits (now I'm re-battling all the Gym Leaders), and some of those 5-Star Tera Raid Battles are HARD! I'm glad that you're guaranteed to catch the Pokémon if you win, but I lose WAY more often with random people online than I did with Max Raid Battles in SwSh. Looking forward to the special Armarouge (I definitely would've had it on my main team if it was available in Violet) & Ceruledge ones, since they'll have 4 and 5 Star options.
Same! I'm currently back at being obsessed with Folklore so much... sometimes I'm sad there aren't more Taylor's Version albums out yet because somehow I refuse to play older albums from her that aren't re-released yet as TV's. Otherwise Taylor could have even more entries on my album charts
Not even Speak Now?! You're a way better fan than I am for following Tay's wishes (I still stick with the original versions, aside from the Vault tracks on the TV's).
Weekends was such a surprising immediate "click" for me because I can totally see why some people aren't too excited about it (it's very monotone in a way). But Freya just hit a sweet spot for me. It's definitely a very relatable song (without the lover thing). And yes, it's right away her best song ever to me. Were you familiar with her debut album / some of its singles?
I remember her name making waves on UKMIX before, but "Castles" doesn't sound familiar as I listen to it now. Her only appearance in my library (before "Weekends") was on MJ Cole's "Waking Up." What was your Freya fave before "Weekends"? (Looks like both "Lost Without You" and "Castles" had very similar peaks here).
Yes, complete confusion but with One Of Us (and also Dancing's Done) + this being a new year now, I thought I can be a bit more "open" towards letting songs onto my chart that may not be "proper" singles. Because One Of Us surely isn't. And I hate thinking too much about these weird releases and how I chart them. Anyways... at first I wasn't too excited about her second album, but these past few songs did a fantastic job and rose my expectations a lot again. Now I can't wait to hear it next Friday.
YES! Embrace the chaos! I'm a big fan of the "if you like a song enough/if you're playing it enough, let it chart" approach (but I also understand that a lot of chart followers prefer seeing more recognizable singles/hits and less unfamiliar album tracks).
Hm, I kinda get it. I like Flowers, but it's Miley's second lowest peaking entry ever so far (she just used to make the Top3 in most cases) and even though the song appears in my head every time, like the first thing in the morning is me thinking of it... but when I finally play it by myself, I get bored in the middle. So I have a weird relationship with it and as incredibly catchy as it is, it's definitely far from being among her best ones ever. With that being said, I still absolutely love to see Miley getting that huge hit with it. She deserved it for over a decade and Flowers being such a smash right away has been the first big & sweet surprise of 2023.
Ha, yes, same! Parts of "Flowers" pop into my head from time-to-time, but I rarely feel compelled to play it/don't feel much of anything when I'm actually sitting and listening to it all the way through.
Damn, I missed Ava's latest No. 1, but the return of Queen Kerli is a major event! I like the way the beat starts pulsing/pumping more around the 1:15 mark
Kerli's strong enough to overpower Tay's Video Effect (and Survivor Effect) too! (This reminds me that I need to update my library with the LH cover art...)
Zara's getting a bit lost-in-the-shuffle/over-shadowed for me this week, but the scenes of her dancing with herself in the video are pretty impressive (and the song's gotten a lot of positive reactions here on UKMIX)
Poor Rita's getting less glowing reviews I kinda like "You Only Love Me" (but I also thought people were too harsh on "How To Be Lonely"/was surprised by how hard that one flopped)
LOVE that folklore managed another week at No. 1 in 2023!
"Ghost" definitely stands out from the other new D&D tracks, so hopefully Ava's team gives it the attention it deserves. Other early highlights for me are "In The Dark," "Get Outta My Heart," and the title track
There seems to be a pretty broad consensus on UKMIX that "Trustfall" is P!nk's best offering in a while
Yet another chart that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store, Tancel!

Bubbling Under
Spoiler!
Eurovision season seems to be starting early for 2023, as there’s already a first appearance that comes right atop of the Bubbling Under chart with Patty Gurdy’s Melodies Of Hope. Patty will be part of the German pre-selection that happens in early March with this song and gets her very first notation across all three charts through this, with a big debut on the main chart being very possible next week.
After more than three months, Taylor Swift’s domination finally comes to an end, as Karma (7-8) remains her only charting track. It’s Ava Max’ turn now, as the singer released her second album Diamonds & Dancefloors, and besides a bunch of high charting tracks on the Singles Top40 and a top debut on the Album Top20, four album tracks also reach the Bubbling Under chart with Ghost (#2), Turn Off The Lights (#3), Sleepwalker (#5) and Cold As Ice (#7).
There are a few more new entries as a few more new single releases didn’t stand out enough in such a busy week to enter the main chart, so they settle for the Bubbling Under chart instead. The highest of these is Pvris’ Goddess, coming in at #4, with Chloë’s Pray It Away (#6), P!nk’s Trustfall (#9) and Aly & AJ’s Baby Lay Your Head Down (#10) being further debuts.
Final shoutouts go out to Fleur East’s Count The Days, Meghan Trainor’s remix for Made You Look with Kim Petras, and the album tracks Lose You and Perfect with Jessie Reyez by Sam Smith, Le goût by Aya Nakamura and Get Outta My Heart by Ava Max, as all of these have been close to the Bubbling Under chart too.

Album Top20
Spoiler!
With five debuts that all land inside the Top10, the Album Top20 is also rather busy this week. One of these new arrivals makes it all the way to number one with Diamonds & Dancefloors, the second studio album by Ava Max. Even though there’s been a notable decline in her success on the Singles Top40, three of the album’s singles still reached the top of the singles charts (Million Dollar Baby, Dancing’s Done, One Of Us), while Weapons already reached Gold status. So Ava continues to be one of the most successful Pop singer at the moment and so it’s to no one’s surprise to see Diamonds & Dancefloors also becoming her second number one album. This also gives her debut Heaven & Hell a minor boost, as it climbs 17-13.
Following the release of Lavender Haze’s music video, the song not only enters the singles chart, but also pushes Midnights back up 4-2 on the album charts. Despite the new releases, Taylor keeps having a total of four albums in the Top10, as she also charts with Red (Taylor’s Version) (2-5), Folklore (1-6), and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (7-8). The only exception is Evermore, that keeps dipping down (11-15).
Beyond The Black’s self-titled album remains at #3 and therefore completes the Top3.
Other new entries this week: The second highest new arrival goes out to Sam Smith, who released their fourth studio album called Gloria and debuts at #4 with it. Despite this being a solid debut, it’s still their lowest debut and peak position so far, as their debut album In The Lonely Hour topped the chart back in 2014 (including being certified with Platinum), the second album The Thrill Of It All made it to #3 in 2017, while Love Goes peaked at #2 and went Gold in 2020. French R&B singer Aya Nakamura is up next, as she also released her fourth album called DNK and enters the chart at #7. It’s just her second chart entry following AYA that reached #4 in 2020, as her debut Journal intime (2017) and its follow-up Nakamura (2018) never charted. Swiss-Albanian rapper Loredana is new at #9 with Mann im Haus, a slightly better debut spot than for her previous entry No Rich Parents (#12 in 2021), while the fifth and final debut goes to Elle King and her third studio album Come Get Your Wife at #10. That’s a similar debut like for her first two sets, as her debut Love Stuff reached #9 in 2016, while Shake The Spirit made it to #12 in 2018.
Other talking points this week: With the continuation of Taylor’s domination and all the new entries, several albums fall a lot this week, with Amethyst’s Wannabe Popstar (5-11), Måneskin’s Rush! (6-12), RuPaul’s Black Butta (9-17) and most notably Lukas Graham’s 4 (The Pink Album) (8-19) all leaving the Top10.

Singles Top40
Spoiler!
With this week, the first month of 2023 already comes to an end, but the year has already proven to be super busy and competitive and it reaches a new peak this time, as together with some highly anticipated album releases, there also have been tons of new single releases. Over 20 songs were expected to enter the Singles Top40, in the end a total of 12 new and 3 re-entries made it.
Coming in right atop is Kerli, as the Estonian songstress finally makes her comeback with the new single 21st Century Kids. It’s been four years since she made her last appearance with her studio album Shadow Works and its singles Savages, Better and Legends. Since making her chart debut with Walking On Air in Fall 2008, all but one of her chart entries reached number one, with 21st Century Kids being her 17th top hit. While she’s still one of the biggest hit makers due to that, her long breaks between releases definitely hinder her of becoming the actual most successful artist ever.
Kerli’s biggest competition is someone who’s also in the race of becoming the most successful artist on My Charts ever and someone where it’s probably even a bit surprising she’s not right atop: Taylor Swift. The singer finally released a video for Lavender Haze, and after a very impressive run on the Bubbling Under chart for over three months, the song moves over to the main chart and debuts at #2. It extends her lead as the artist with most chart entries ever by being her 48th entry, but breaks a streak, as her previous five singles all debuted atop the Top40.
Completing the Top3 is already the third new entry, coming from Norwegian Eurovision stars Keiino. The trio released their new single Alt Du Kan Se, that is half Norwegian and half English, and becomes their 17th chart entry. A huge achievement for them, as this makes Keiino the Eurovision artist with most chart entries ever, surpassing Loreen, who won for Sweden with the banger Euphoria back in 2012.
Other new and re-entries this week: Three more debuts reach the Top10 with Zara Larsson’s Can’t Tame Her (#5), Rosalía’s LLYLM (#6) and Nightwish’s The Phantom Of The Opera (Live) with Henk Poort (#7). Rosalía’s definitely the biggest surprise here, as LLYLM is just her third entry ever but immediately also becomes her highest ever, surpassing Despechá from last year (#9). The other two are no strangers to the chart, as Zara gets her 22nd entry with Can’t Tame Her and Nightwish their 19th. It’s probably more surprising to see a new Nightwish release not being a contender for the top or even Top3, though the band originally released The Phantom Of The Opera already two decades ago, while their lead singer Floor Jansen already collaborated with Henk Poort on an own version that reached #1 in late 2019.
Brooke represented Ireland at Eurovision last year with the Pop smash That’s Rich, ending up as one of the most successful charts hit and a Gold certification. Its follow-ups Tongues (#10) and Heartbreaker (#19) also reached the upper half, and the singer keeps being on a right track to become an actual hit maker as her first single in the new year called Come Alive arrives at #12. And speaking of Eurovision artists from 2022, Polish singer Ochman teamed up with Ukrainian winners Kalush Orchestra and fellow non Eurovision artist @atutowy on Cry For You, another new entry at #30. Tom Odell’s new single Butterflies is a duet with Norwegian singer Aurora and enters at #19, a spot right above Rita Ora’s new You Only Love Me at #20. #20 as a debut spot fits well in her case, as it’s also her 20th chart entry to date. Just sneaking in is Drag Race UK star Tia Kofi, as her new track Curious makes it to #39.
Finally, two of the anticipated album releases also bring some entries to the Top40. Even though Ava Max didn’t choose a new single to support the release of her second album Diamonds & Dancefloors, it at least brings back its lead single Maybe You’re The Problem to #15 and its follow-up Million Dollar Baby to #33, joining the still charting One Of Us (1-4), Dancing’s Done (7-9) and Weapons (27-22). Sam Smith’s Gloria is the other album release that lets I’m Not Here To Make Friends debut at #16, Unholy with Kim Petras coming back to #28, while Gimme improves 32-27.
Other talking points this week: There are many casualties due to the massive amount of new entries, but also some more good news. Lost Frequencies, Elley Duhé & X Ambassadors’ Back To You gets certified with Gold (2-8), while Beyond The Black still charts with all four songs at once; that being Winter Is Coming (5-11), Free Me (14-21), Is There Anybody Out There? (13-23) and Dancing In The Dark (15-24). Tiësto and Tate McRae may leave the Top10 for their first time (10-18), but that’s more a proof of how well 10:35 has done so far.
Aya Nakamura’s Baby is the biggest climber, rising 37-31 due to her album release, while amongst all big fallers, Babymetal’s Metal Kingdom takes the title for the biggest loser of the week (9-38).

i mean, it's a relative success but they need to beg the tiktok admins for another viral hit ASAP, I feel like they have pretty big "saviours of rock" shoes to fill
Haha true Also they're probably also lucky to have released in January, where sales are really low = easier to get good debuts. Not sure yet if they'll also have longevity for the album.
The new Paramore song sounds quite different for them.

You think it's their floppage era? I think they're doing super well still, also especially considering they're an Eurovision artist. Don't think we've had such a successful Eurovision artist since like Céline?
The album isn't as good as I was hoping for though.

Bubbling Under
Spoiler!
Less surprisingly, Taylor’s domination continues on the Bubbling Under chart, but some non Midnights tracks shake things up a little bit. But it’s still one of her current songs that take the lead, as Midnights album opener Lavender Haze returns back to the top for a sixth week (2-1). The song is likely to move over to the main chart next week, as there’s an anticipated video release finally happening. Interesting coincidence, as the song is charting for its lucky 13th week now, a number that’s also seen as Taylor’s lucky number.
With Folklore taking the lead on the album charts, its opener The 1 also returns to the Bubbling Under chart at #5, while its bonus track The Lakes debuts at #8. Red (Taylor’s Version) opener State Of Grace (Taylor’s Version) is another new entry at #5. Midnights album tracks Midnight Rain (3-4), Question…? (4-6), Karma (7-7) and Vigilante Shit (8-10) brings Taylor to eight entries on the list.
Beyond The Black own the final two entries with I Remember Dying (1-3) and Not In Our Name (5-9).
Final shoutouts go out to Sam Smith’s Gloria and Macklemore feat. DJ Premier’s Heroes, two new releases from this week that barely missed out on the Bubbling Under chart.

Album Top20
Spoiler!
Taylor Swift keeps being unstoppable even in the new year, but unlike she was it with Midnights in the last few months, it’s her 2020 release Folklore that suddenly goes back to the top this week. The album originally spent four consecutive weeks atop the album charts during summer 2020, when it debuted behind Ellie Goulding’s Brightest Blue following the surprise release, but eventually rose to its peak just a week later. So with this week, it gets to five weeks at number one in total, making it tied with Speak Now (2010) as her second longest running top album and also making her the first artist with multiple top albums in 2023.
But Folklore’s sudden success is not the end of Taylor’s ongoing domination, as she keeps charting with four more albums. Next up is Red (Taylor’s Version), that also rises a bit (4-2) and even gets certified with 2x Platinum. It’s her fifth album to reach multi platinum status and most definitely not the last, as Midnights, next in the ranking by dipping 2-4, will most likely reach that achievement as well. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) jumps back into the Top10 (12-7), while Evermore has to leave them (7-11).
Beyond The Black’s former self-titled number one album completes the Top3 (1-3).
New and re-entries this week: There are five new entries, but truth be told, none of them made the biggest waves this week. The highest is also the most unexpected one - Wannabe Popstar, the second studio album by Amethyst. Amethyst is a contestant on the currently airing 15th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and gets her very first chart notation with it at #5. She’s directly followed by Italian Eurovision winners Måneskin, as their new album Rush! starts at #6. Danish singer (or group) Lukas Graham are new at #8 with 4 (The Pink Album), their third entry following Lukas Graham (Blue Album) (#5 in 2016) and 3 (The Purple Album) (#5 in 2018). English singer-songwriter Låpsley also reaches the Top10 with her third album Cautionary Tales Of Youth (#10), a peak between her previous two albums Long Way Home (#7 in 2016) and Through Water (#12 in 2020). It’s definitely a funny coincidence how the probably only two artists with an å in their artist names that ever charted released new albums in the same week. Last but not least, HIM frontman Ville Valo sneaks in at #14 with his solo set Neon Noir.
Other talking points this week: Finnish siren Tarja keeps her certification streak, as Best Of: Living The Dream gets certified with Gold just as it leaves the Top10 for its first time (8-12). All of her impressive 14 chart entries on the Album Top20 have gone Gold, with two of them even being Platinum, while Colours In The Dark (2013) remains her only album being certified with 2x Platinum.

Singles Top40
Spoiler!
Within just three weeks, Ava Max becomes the first artist of 2023 to score multiple top hits, as following Dancing’s Done arrival right atop two weeks ago (down 3-7), it’s One Of Us that takes the lead by improving 4-1. Her third charting entry Weapons also rises up a bit (29-27) in anticipation of her second studio album Diamonds And Dancefloors that will make its impact next week.
Lost Frequencies, Elley Duhé and X Ambassadors’ Back To You remains at #2 for a fourth week in a row, while Freya Ridings’ Weekends completes the Top3 (1-3).
The highest of six new arrivals barely didn’t make it to the Top3, as Kim Petras’ new single Brrr debuts at #4. It’s her 10th chart notation since making her very first entry with Icy a little bit over three years ago, and keeps her perfect streak of always making the Top10 so far.
Other new entries this week: Babymetal keep preparing the release of their upcoming third studio album The Other One that drops in March with its third single called Metal Kingdom, that makes it all the way to #9. The album’s lead single Divine Attack - Shingeki reached #7 last year, while the second single Monochrome surprisingly didn’t even reach the Top40. Following her surprise hit Crumbs from late last year, Rebecca Black scores another chart entry as Sick To My Stomach reaches #19. With Becky Hill’s Heaven (#24), Alice Merton’s Waste My Life (#33) and Alma’s Hey Mom Hey Dad (#38), the three remaining new arrivals all debut in the lower half. Overall, this seems like the calm before the storm, because there are tons of highly anticipated new releases to come out and impact the charts next week.
Other talking points this week: German Symphonic Metal band Beyond The Black got four Top20 entries all at once with the arrival of their self-titled studio album last week, and the band keeps charting in the Top20 with all of them for a second week - Winter Is Coming (7-5), Is There Anybody Out There? (15-13) and Dancing In The Dark (16-15) even rise up a bit, while Free Me is their only decreasing entry (9-14). By getting an 11th consecutive week in the Top10, Tiësto and Tate McRae’s 10:35 is slowly becoming one of the bigger hits from the last few years and that gets proven that it already earns a Platinum certification, being obviously the first for both artists, as 10:35 was already their first Gold certified hit. Some more good news go out to Måneskin, who reach a new peak with Gossip featuring Tom Morello (13-12) following their album release, and to the UK Grand Finale Megamix by RuPaul and the finalists of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Season 4, as the track gets certified with Gold (23-28).
Lindsey Stirling & Amy Lee’s Love Goes On And On recovers 33-29 as the biggest climber, while Leony’s Remedy (19-30) and MØ’s New Moon (28-39) both drop 11 spots as the biggest losers this week.

"Weekends" is a pretty smooth ballad. On first spin, I already enjoyed it enough to add it to my Spotify library.
Hope "Flowers" rises this week!
...
So glad you're enjoying Weekends that much! I just love Freya's deep and smooth vocals on it, and it's just so catchy!
Ah, we'll see about Flowers. I saw you posted somewhere how much you love it - I don't love it that much (yet) compared to many other songs from her, but I'm totally here for Miley to finally get that smash hit.
Good debut for Miley! I guess you're also not feeling 'C'est Comme Ca' as much as you would like to?
Miley's smashing <3
And yes to C'est comme ça... it's a fun track for sure. Though I already like it better than I did the first time I heard it. Maybe it'll grow on us more once the album comes out?

Wow! A lot of good songs. Great new entries from Beyond The Black and Måneskin
My Rare faves are mostly the obvious picks/the singles, though it does have some strong non-singles too ("Vulnerable," "Let Me Get Me"). I agree with you that nothing from Rare would rank among my All-Time Top Selena Songs (especially if we count stuff with The Scene too). Some Rare songs miiight make my All-Time Selena Top 10, but not Top 5.!
Ha, I love the randomness of Jumpluff being your MVP in SV (and cementing its status as your absolute-favorite Pokémon). Did you use it for a lot of "Sleep Powder" shenanigans? Hoppip was basically the "mascot" for one of my favorite PokéTubers back in the early-2010's (JWittz), so I have fond memories/associations with it that way. Are you still filling out the Dex in SV? I'm finally facing the Elite Four now. I beat all the Titans and Team Star Bases too, but didn't completely finish those storylines yet (since I didn't want to be too over-leveled for the Elite Four, and I heard there's a big level-jump when you battle Arven again after all the Titans, though that might be a post-game thing anyway...?)!
Woah, glad to hear you're already facing the Elite Four now! Will be trying to reply back to the message next week so we could discuss more there. I also don't want to spoil too much but... make sure you complete the storylines with the Titans and Team Star as well once you've finished the Elite Four, because there's more coming for the main storyline!
Nice! I ended up loving those two way more equally than I expected when Evermore first dropped. Evermore actually has sliiightly more Scrobbles right now (but I'd still rank Folklore above it).!
Same! I'm currently back at being obsessed with Folklore so much... sometimes I'm sad there aren't more Taylor's Version albums out yet because somehow I refuse to play older albums from her that aren't re-released yet as TV's. Otherwise Taylor could have even more entries on my album charts
I've noticed "Weekends" making some waves here in the Personal Charts section, but I'll have to sit with it a bit more (as someone who stays in most nights, the subject matter definitely speaks to me) It looks like it was way more instant for you than the material from Freya's first album?
Damn, I missed "Dancing's Done"s week on top. Ava's promo/singles strategy officially has me very confused but regardless, just over a week before we finally have the full album!!
It's too soon to say for sure, but "Flowers" might be my "Free Yourself" of 2023 (where I just don't hear what every other UKMIXer seems to hear) Well, not just UKMIXers - the entire world is streaming "Flowers" right now! Even if it's not one of my favorites from Miley, I'm grateful that she's finally on a label that can help her get the success she deserves
Love how the Year-End effect brought Charli (and others) back!
Yet another chart that looks good any day of the week, Tancel!
Yes, complete confusion but with One Of Us (and also Dancing's Done) + this being a new year now, I thought I can be a bit more "open" towards letting songs onto my chart that may not be "proper" singles. Because One Of Us surely isn't. And I hate thinking too much about these weird releases and how I chart them. Anyways... at first I wasn't too excited about her second album, but these past few songs did a fantastic job and rose my expectations a lot again. Now I can't wait to hear it next Friday.
Big debut for Freya! I like it but I'm warming up with each listen. Flowers dominating the week on most charts.
Weekends got me by surprise - right away my most favorite song ever by Freya. A shame it doesn't seem to become a hit (in the UK). Yes, Flowers being everywhere, super happy for Miley!
