  • "Atopos" is interesting, I wish Bjork went along with the instrumental melody (such killer beats) vocally instead of this contrarian approach she loves.

Good to see you're also enjoying Ava's new single! Definitely a big step up from Maybe You're The Problem for me

Clean Bandit's new one still has to grow on me more.

It seemed like folklore and evermore (finally) won her some respect even from people who'd never taken her seriously at all before. Speaking of Miley, though: I thought you liked Plastic Hearts (or am I misremembering)?
She also has a talent of always releasing an album with different sounds just at the right time or period of life, which helps a lot too. Like Folklore dropped when I was on vacation where it was rainy and a bit grey, so perfect soundtrack and I always connect that vacation with Folklore. Evermore dropped two days before my birthday with a cover art that screams autumn / Fall, my favorite season by far. Lover in a time when I was loving that sound. Reputation when I was in a "bad ass" mood myself etc. It's also fantastic how she always kept the success, other artists weren't that successful when trying out different genres and while fans always have new things to discover through that, she also keeps *her* in every album.

I liked it a lot, you remember that correct. But she only had #1s on the singles charts until the Younger Now era, where she at least got three Top3 entries. But Slide Away then "only" peaked at #6, Prisoner peaked at #4, and finally Angels Like You just made it to #21. Still so far from being a flop of course, but she's definitely on a downward trend there.

Aw, no No. 1's for Carly Rae since "Run Away With Me"? What's been her biggest hit since that one?
Taylor While I knew you loved her music, I never realized that she's been that massive for you - but I'm obviously not complaining at all <3 But yes, letting older songs into the chart can have a good effect for "older" artists too and I feel like Mariah surely benefits a lot from that. Has Kylie always been such a hit maker for you, or did her more recent albums change that?

Surprise: Beach House! All of Carly's first six chart entries also moved past the Gold cert mark, none of her songs ever did it since then but Beach House may get there in 2-3 weeks. Prior Beach House, Cut To The Feeling has been her biggest hit between Run Away With Me and now.

Oh, is Lewis ahead of them? Because I saw him being at #2 on Spotify and Apple Music for several days now, while I'm Good has been #1, so I'm still crossing my fingers to see Bebe finally scoring a #1 over there as well! She just did it over here in Switzerland <3

I did enjoy "Release Me" back in the day, but my chart didn't exist yet.
Haha, you actually added already most of the album. The only proper song left would be Selfmade, all other songs on the album are no proper songs, just interludes So yeah, you definitely have to pass on that one I guess. The Jessie Ware comparison makes sense, though I'm on board with you when it comes to her, she has yet to click with me too.

And I love that Release Me shoutout <3

        • Per usual, dance collab "Woke Up In Love" is doing much more for me than most of Calum's solo/lead artist material. I'd be interested in a No.6 Collaborations Project-type album from him (except with all different DJs/producers)
        • Poor "Hold Me Closer" It's held up with me so far, but I expect it'll take a steep dive soon (especially if it keeps falling fast on official charts too and there's no longer the hype of Brit scoring another hit)
        • Congrats to Ellie on the Gold cert!
        • Any recommendations from Jackson's album? I've checked out a few of his songs/features ("Blow," "Drive You Home," "100 Ways," and "Pretty Please" was definitely my favorite so far)
        Yet another priceless chart, Tancel!
8 #1s is pretty huge for someone "new" like Ava. When I made my list of most #1s on my charts I never ever thought about Ava being a contender too, so when I was writing the text for the current chart I was so surprised to find out she already has so many. It's realistic that she may join the 10+ #1 club already next year! Anyways, glad it's also doing better for you compared to Maybe You're The Problem.

Good to hear that! I was looking forward to Woke Up In Love, gotta admit I'm slighty disappointed though. That Collaboration project thingy for Calum would make a lot of sense... or he could just release an album with more uptempos, I still don't know why they didn't include Where You Are Now on his new album.

I just don't really vibe with Hold Me Closer I need Britney solo.

        <3

Blue and Cruel are definitely two more good songs on Jackson's album (alongside Blow that you already mentioned). Other than this album, I'm not too familiar with him except for 100 Ways, that's still by far the best song I know by him.

        Thank you

Definitely a nice comeback for Björk! I actually like where she is going for with Atopos but I can see what you mean, different vocals would've been very interesting too (and maybe even something newer for her).

          • Think I've seen 'Grand' on a personal chart on Youtube recently and looked it up, it's quite catchy!
The Agnes song is slowly growing on me, even though imo it's not quite as strong as Fingers Crossed which I loved.
'Alien Superstar' is my favorite from your Bubbling Under list.
Can't wait for the Rina slayage next week

Oh, that's actually nice to hear that someone else showed some interest into Kane Brown's Grand! Definitely a nice Pop tune for sure, and he seems so cute too!

Glad to hear that about Agnes. She's been delivering some great Dance Pop tunes since last year, yet she's still rather underrated.

<3 Alien Superstar is such a tune!! Surely no single material but definitely a true highlight on a great album.

Soon! She surely delivered with Hold The Girl!

I need to hear more about this "bad ass" phase of yours during the reputation era! I'm with you when it comes to appreciating Fall vibes too (I think I've mentioned before how I love autumn in the Gen V Pokémon games, and the autumn-looking/fallen-leaf-covered Routes in XY).

Ah, were there any songs on Plastic Hearts that didn't get released as singles that might've smashed harder on your chart (if they'd been eligible)? That era really fell apart fast after the first two singles were decent-sized hits (though they deserved even better, especially in the US).

Well, since none of Kylie's '90's albums were released in the US, I got into her with Fever, but have stayed consistently invested in her since then (and ordered all her older albums too).

Nice! I love "Cut To The Feeling" Where did it peak?

Hype! It looks like it should move past Lewis on the next UK chart too. **Fingers crossed**

It's realistic that she may join the 10+ #1 club already next year! Anyways, glad it's also doing better for you compared to Maybe You're The Problem.
Especially if she actually finally releases Diamonds & Dancefloors Her team is ridiculous if they're waiting for another single of hers to do as well as (or even better than) "The Motto" before dropping that album.

Thanks for the recs! I'm not so sure about "Cruel," but "Blue" made a great first impression.
                      • RAYE!! I forgot that this marks her first-ever solo/lead appearance here too. A lot to celebrate!
                      • I'm definitely no BLACKPINK expert, but their more recent singles seem much less poppy than the songs I loved from them in the past ("As If It's Your Last," "Forever Young," "Bet You Wanna," etc). Is there anything like that on Born Pink?
                      • Beautiful album-effect-rebound for "Hold The Girl" back into your Top 5
                      • We were just talking about Carly Rae, but it looks like we're having different reactions to "Talking To Yourself" (it's my favorite of the available offerings from her upcoming album by far)
                      • I forgot that "Catch Me In The Air" had done that much worse than all the other Hold The Girl singles/pre-release tracks. I did think it was pretty forgettable at first/fine enough filler, but it's really grown on me over the past month or so
                      • This No. 1 single + No. 1 album + No. 1 Bubbling Under combo is perfection! Absolutely adore all three
Yet another chart that's definitely no black sheep, Tancel!

Probably not as "bad ass" as the word bad ass would suggest, but 2017 was a special year for me when I broke up with my ex, had to move out and had to navigate through a completely new life after seven years and a part of me thought that was pretty cool and I had a new awakening. Oh yes, same here! btw is it "fall" or "autumn", I always get confused by that but I guess it doesn't really matter as people understand both (with "fall" being a word that means something else too).
Ha, you can guess which Sawsbuck version is my favorite

Night Crawling was my favorite song on the album by far, so that's the one I'm sad it didn't get a chance as single (though realistically I don't think it would have been a hit anyways). I also really love Gimme What I Want and WTF Do I Know that were good single options. What about your favorites?

Also to be fair, all of Miley's eras have been cut short due to few single choices. Younger Now only had Malibu & its title track, Bangerz had just We Can't Stop & Wrecking Ball, Can't Be Tamed only had its title track & Who Owns My Heart.

Wait, I had no idea her older albums weren't available over there - crazy! That wouldn't be a problem nowadays thanks to streaming... and nice to hear you still got all of her older albums. Also that means you're a fan for over 20 years, cool! Somehow I didn't realize you've been a fan for so long, but that's probably only because there was a time when she wasn't as "popular" on the charts & here in the forum and suddenly she's been releasing quite a few things.

It "only" peaked at #13, but stayed in the Top40 for 8 weeks. She got two more Top10s with Your Type (#6) and Boy Problems (#8) but they only charted for 4 / 3 weeks so Cut To The Feeling ended up as more successful overall.

Well next year for sure. I mean I knew from the start that releasing this year wasn't realistic in her case... releasing early in 2023 is much better from a strategic point of view and I'm totally fine with that. I just hope Million Dollar Baby rises to become at least a moderate hit on the charts until then; or they should just include The Motto to the tracklist for streaming points.

I mean we had 5935243 singles before Heaven & Hell came out, and so far we "only" have two with Diamonds & Dancefloors so the delay is not too bad.

Yes and I basically have to thank you for that discovery - if she wouldn't have been so successful on your chart, I probably would've never heard it. Such a bop and it's somewhat crazy to me that I never really cared for her before, as I feel like I've been familiar with her name for years! You say "too" so Black Mascara was also her first solo hit on your chart?

That probably means I'm even less of a Blackpink expert as I'm not familiar with two of the songs you just mentioned But just listened to As If It's Your Last & Forever Young and they're both really good! I'd say Yeah Yeah Yeah and Hard To Love may be the closest from the new record, but probably still not what you're really looking for - or Ready For Love if compared to Forever Young. I also really enjoy the ballad The Happiest Girl.

Yes, seems so, because Talking To Yourself is not really sticking with me and will experience already a big drop this week While Beach House may continue to do well enough and definitely will end this year as one of the better Pop songs for me.

Good to hear that Catch Me In The Air has been such a grower for you! I was hoping for the same as soon as the album drops and it definitely also grew on me a bit, but just a bit & it gets overshadowed by everything else that has been going on. Speaking of Rina, personally I'm lowkey confused by the singles choices, knowing the whole album now. But so happy she delivered a great record! <3

                            Thank you

Yes, glad you heard it & like it too! She really keeps being so underrated IMO, but she truly has found her own sound over the years and delivered a great first album last week.

Hold The Girl is definitely one of the best Pop albums this year

That's great to hear! I Just Want A Lover is definitely one of her best singles to date... a bit more commercial than her previous few singles, but still not all too commercial. Kinda like something Lana Del Rey may release

That Noah song sounds pretty good on first listen.
Holy kinda threw me off at the first cause sonically it was giving me early 10s Eurovision vibes, but after following the lyrics a bit more and listening again it really clicked with me. Nice to see Imagining being one of your favorites, too!

Haha To be fair, the two latest singles Phantom and Hurricanes are good, but not that outstanding to me and overall even among my lesser faves on the album. If something like Your Age, Imagining or Holy would have been the new single, she definitely could have had the #1 on all three charts this week. Glad you're enjoying Raye's Black Mascara as the #1 too though!

Yes, I Just Want A Lover is pretty good! Noah deserves more love <3

                                          • "Ancestress" is another piece of art Björk, did we expect anything less? Whilst visually it is Scandi folk, the audio is more reminiscent of cantonese or old school Japanese folk/pop.

Very nice to see ALMA debuting here, the song immediately clicked with me. Enjoying all three Noah songs in your Top 10!

Ah, that really was a major transitional Tansike era! A total "image overhaul"/"rebranding" of sorts (though hopefully your ex didn't try to sabotage YOUR reputation) Yeah, I always just use "fall" and "autumn" interchangeably (depending on how proper I want to sound, ha).

Besides the singles, my most-played Plastic Hearts songs are "Never Be Me," "Gimme What I Want," and the title track. (Looking at last.fm now, I'm surprised "WTF Do I Know" isn't higher, since I remember liking it a lot too). Don't leave out "Adore You" from Bangerz, though! (I've always had a soft spot for that one - it went to No. 1 on my chart).

Ha, fair point! I should probably brace myself for a much longer wait, in case this album rollout does wind up resembling H&H I guess I thought/hoped her team would've learned from that and be more focused this time around, but...

Such a bop and it's somewhat crazy to me that I never really cared for her before, as I feel like I've been familiar with her name for years! You say "too" so Black Mascara was also her first solo hit on your chart?
Sorry, I should've phrased that better: I just meant that her first-ever solo hit on your chart became her first No. 1 too. Her first-ever solo hit on mine was "Please Don't Touch" (thanks to seeing it on Cheap's chart).

I'd say Yeah Yeah Yeah and Hard To Love may be the closest from the new record, but probably still not what you're really looking for - or Ready For Love if compared to Forever Young. I also really enjoy the ballad The Happiest Girl.
Many thanks! Yeah, all the tracks you mentioned are closer to what I'm looking for than "Pink Venom" and "Shut Down."

I've seen several people share that feeling, but the rollout really worked for me. I think they picked a good variety of pre-release singles (country/pop, pure pop, ballads, pop/rock), but still left some gems to discover when the full album dropped, so it felt win-win to me.
                                                • Go Sam & Kim! I'm not loving "Unholy" as much as I've loved other singles of theirs, but it's still really exciting to watch them smashing so hard right now (in the UK, the US, and more)! I definitely wasn't expecting this level of success for their collab (it's especially mind-boggling that THIS is becoming Kim's long-awaited mainstream/official chart breakthrough, but better late than never)!
                                                • I was just thinking about that new ALMA song thanks to flopho's chart, so I should add it ASAP!
                                                • In the opposite situation of Sam & Kim, I'm surprised and disappointed that "Star Walkin'" isn't off to a stronger start on official charts coming off three big global hits from Montero. (Maybe it was too soon? His videos tend to help his singles a lot too, and I'm not sure there's plans for a proper/non-animated vid for SW).
                                                • Well, Rina may have lost the Album Crown, but at least she's still dominating Bubbling Under!
Yet another chart that gave me what I want, Tancel!

                                                • The Rina tickets are a bit pricey because it's at a small venue. The capacity is only about 2k.

Decent debut for "Star Walkin'". The song's honestly better than I thought it'd be.

Great summary of Ancesstress! The thing about Björk is that I keep being fascinated by her stuff, yet there's often times nearly zero replay value (at least for just singles) so the songs don't do well for me.
