I also prefer "Violence" to new Billie Eilish single.
Yeah, "Violence" is definitely more interesting. Though Billie's song ain't bad.

It's alright for a cover. Some Skylar vocal showboating, but not much substance.
Wait, it is a cover? I had no idea Good to know though. Also, I just noticed I wrote "Shameless" instead of "Shame On You"...

Ha, that's a brilliant way of looking at it! Going to the movies means we've at least gotten out of our homes (even if it's just to sit in a different dark room and stare at a different, bigger screen).
True. Times are changing so fast lately. So who knows what we will experience over the next decades, there's probably a lot to come (and I'm actually someone who believes that this may turn out bad at one point, but hopefully I'm and many others are wrong with these thoughts).

Exactly! I only realized now that it really happened in the past that I've asked myself if it's worth going to the cinema and paying lots of money only for watching a movie on a bigger screen and then my next thought was that it's cool to go out at least
Probably similar to why going out on parties is so popular as well (going out + media with music).

"Lover" just needs to blow up on airplay (and it's a song that could do it, so fingers crossed!).

Yes, definitely! Ha, what a lovely transition from one topic to another! I downloaded it on the day of its release, but I never opened it so far. I'm having the Pokémon blues again it seems. But it sounds like I should really try it out. Does it take a lot of time? To be honest I heard a lot about it but still have no idea what it is about and what the gameplay is.

He can craft some really enjoyable uptempos too, but so many people haven't gotten a chance to hear them.
True. The US only knows his slow songs, we can add "Too Good At Goodbyes" and "Dancing With A Stranger" to the list as well. "How Do You Sleep?" is more uptempo for him but it seems to be an underperformance as well - what a shame!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will appear at all. It was very disappointing on the first spin and immediately went into the 'I'll try it again when the album drops' category. So hopefully it will have its impact on me when "Sunshine Kitty" comes out. How do you like it? You're a big Kylie fan and you've enjoyed Tove's work a lot, so I hope they could live up to your expectations?!

You're welcome - and thanks for checking it out! Glad to hear it made it into your library

Based on her two most recent singles, I guess the under-performance of Witness wasn't a fluke, and people just aren't here for her anymore.
Yeah... I think many people already moved away from her when the "Witness" era started (due to haircut, music, whatever) and from the ones that still bought the album, a lot probably also didn't like it and therefor there are even less people here for her now. Because from what I've read "Witness" was basically just loved on music forums while others didn't like it (it also has a Metascore of 52).
It's very sad because I've always loved her a lot and she gave us some good times with her albums, but if the success won't be the same, I still hope she keeps on delivering bops and albums. I can see her being already on a Britney-like level, with fans really appreciating her efforts, her getting high-peaking albums but overall with not the best sales and singles also aren't the most successful ones. But if the music's right, I'm fine with that.

      • A bit sad that "Lover" is already falling (but at least it's doing MUCH better than "ME!" or "You Need To Calm Down" managed here).
      • Ah, even with the new Elle King version of "The Upside," "Underground" is still holding up better!
      • Glad to see "Shameless" above "Liar," since I prefer that one too.
Aww... there seem to be some people who think like you when it comes to "Violence", but I'm really feeling it. It's different and has a more commercial appeal compared to "We Appreciate Power" (or many other songs from her) but it flows so well and listening to it while watching the video is beautiful. Completely agreed on the second part - I'm also happy we finally got something! Let's just hope she's finally getting that album out later this year.

It's a beautiful track and I'm quite sure it will hang on on My Charts for a while. As you say, it's already a lot more successful than the other two singles (though "You Need To Calm Down" has gotten a nice album release boost as well and has been pretty stable ever since). She definitely released an album that exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy about that!

Yep. "The Upside" is good, but both versions even belong to the weaker half of her new album. A video is coming later today though, maybe this will change something.

YES! Happy to hear I'm not the only one there. "Shameless" is just much more interesting IMO

Thank you so much! Honestly, currently it's very exhausting but it's a situation when you know it's hard at the moment but once you're through that, you'll be very happy and satisfied with what you've achieved. What annoys me the most is how music has become a smaller part in my life because there's no other option - especially my personal charts. I really hope I can fix my 'chart day' as soon as possible. Again, thanks a lot!

Thanks for checking the current #1 out. You're right, it's lovely and sounds like Symphonic Metal meets ABBA.

Love her voice and she has become one of my favorite Drag Queens ever (Top10) so I'm glad she finally released another song. Though it's not the best work ever, it's pretty solid compared to some other Drag music.

It sounds exactly like Fleetwood Mac's Dreams. To the point where i'd be waiting for a lawsuit if i was her! There's "homage" and there's this.

Oh damn - I just listened to both songs back to back and you're right, it sounds exactly like "Dreams" Would be interesting to know if this was intentional or not.

Thanks for pointing that out - didn't read that part. Anyways, the song is quite nice and I'm definitely looking forward to the whole album

I'm having the Poké-mon blues again it seems. But it sounds like I should really try it out. Does it take a lot of time? To be honest I heard a lot about it but still have no idea what it is about and what the gameplay is.
It only took me a few days to get through all the chapters of the main story that are available now (it ends on a cliffhanger, so I'm sure they'll add more chapters at some point). Masters only got grind-y once I started trying the bonus/co-op levels.

So hopefully it will have its impact on me when "Sunshine Kitty" comes out. How do you like it? You're a big Kylie fan and you've enjoyed Tove's work a lot, so I hope they could live up to your expectations?!
They've both created far more addictive songs than "Really Don't Like U" before, but it's still alright for me, and it's just a fun treat that they've collaborated at all (since Kylie often collaborates with artists/DJs I don't know as well as Tove, like Nick Cave, Towa Tei, Nervo, Giorgio Moroder, Garibay, Jack Savoretti, etc).

Granted, Teenage Dream only got a 52 too, so these critics are clearly just out of their damn minds sometimes I do agree that Witness is one of her least enjoyable albums, though (not sure if I'd rank it above or below OOTB. Probably below). Speaking of Britney, hopefully Katy can still have a "Womanizer" moment at some point!

She definitely released an album that exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy about that!
Absolutely! I mean, it's not exactly shocking that I'm enjoying a Taylor Swift album but it was a relief to come away from my first listen through Lover without the same sense of disappointment that I felt with reputation at first (and I'd still rank reputation toward the bottom of her catalog).

What annoys me the most is how music has become a smaller part in my life because there's no other option - especially my personal charts. I really hope I can fix my 'chart day' as soon as possible. **More hugs** It definitely helps knowing that these temporary struggles will be worth it in the long run/bigger picture. Hopefully things have started calming down and feeling more normal again now, since this place really won't be the same if you can't find time for music anymore (not to mention you've got that incredibly-popular Survivor to run too...)

                          • In week #3 Lindsey manages to rebound and block the combined forces of Ari, Miley, AND Lana (all three of whom have strong histories here) Usually I'd be more upset about this happening to Ari, but I'm actually pretty underwhelmed by DCMA.
                          • My enthusiasm for Charlie isn't what it once was, but "Mother" is quite catchy, and it's a shame that people abandoned him kind of abruptly after "Attention" was a sizable smash. His other single selections for Voicenotes weren't perfect, but he didn't dramatically shift his sound, and yet the public was suddenly like "Pass."
                          • Poor Meghan's in the same boat "Genetics" is pretty weak, though, so I'm less shocked that she's struggling to win people back with something like this. ("All The Ways" should've been massive, though).
                          • Ouch, the best Charli can manage in album release week is a No. 36 re-entry for "1999"? At least she has the highest-debuting album of the week...at No. 5...

Actually, UKMix is a fantastic example for this... imagine if the internet or this page here isn't working anymore due to whatever reasons: Many of us would loose lots of datas from our personal charts, collected data for several artists in the Artist Charts Analysis section and more. Or work; when there's a shutdown (already happened around three times in the last ten years) we can't do anything at all because we rely so much on our computer, our system and everything is saved there. It's obviously impossible to live our daily life without technology and even though I think something 'negative' may happen one day (wether it is a huge shutdown, maybe because of a sun eruption, or something else... like going as far as saying technology may be more intelligent than us at some point which may be a huge risk for us) I still don't do something to avoid that and everyone is like that. So that's kinda worrying, because you never know what the future brings. On the other side, it's probably too soon to worry about these things now but it's definitely also worrying that we would be lost if something actually happens...

What are your thoughts about this?

Its radio add date was only this week and it seems like she's getting great updates now, so it looks like it actually may become a hit for her. I think "Lover" may not have a high peak but should have great longevity (similar to "Delicate") and I'd be totally fine with that

Ok, doesn't sound like it would take too much time... I'll definitely try it out over the weekend!

Oh, this is true - Kylie usually collaborates with artists you wouldn't expect and from different genres. Tove Lo and Kylie looks great on paper as they've both already created several really catchy pop tunes in the past. Fingers crossed the song will grow on me - it didn't stand out to me after the first spins of "Sunshine Kitty" though Excited to hear your thoughts about the album; I've already dived a bit into it yesterday and it's already so much better than "Blue Lips"!

That's true. Though I feel like Metacritic has a more important meaning these days than it had back then. Despite Katy's underperformances lately, she still seems to be in a happy place lately so that's good. A "Womanizer"-type of comeback would be amazing!

Yeah, same here! I haven't enjoyed an album from her that much on its release month since "Speak Now" actually. "1989" took a while to grow on me (which is rather shocking, I know) while as you probably still remember "Red" was never one of my favorite albums from her. "Reputation" had some gems but overall the album wasn't that enjoyable as a whole. It's also nice to see critics loving "Lover" and Taylor definitely redeemed herself with this. Fingers crossed she may even end up with another Album of the Year Grammy

Definitely! It's good to know that it will be worth it, but after what happened to me earlier this year I'm still nervous and tensed when it comes to being so busy with work and other stuff. This week has been very stressful again and my to do list at work is only getting bigger with each day, but I'm still fine with that and I will work it out for sure. Fortunately, due to all good new releases lately I'm definitely enjoying the music a lot right now and I definitely keep on posting My Charts for as long as possible, I just need to find a way to compile & post them with my new schedule in 'real life'. Also cool you're mentioning that survivor as it really brought back a lot of joy when it comes to UKMix... I mean, back when I joined it used to be that busy in all places on the forum and I've really missed that, actually I've been thinking about these 'old' time a lot lately...

Since I moved away from Thursday being the 'charts day', I've also decided to let releases that just came out onto my charts as well (like "Don't Call Me Angel") and it will most likely happen a lot more often to see one of the new releases that should do really well not debuting too high while older songs benefit from having been played the whole week. "Artemis" hit #1 not only because I really love it, but also because I've been playing Lindsey's music non-stop lately (especially in week 37). With that being said, I really enjoy "Don't Call Me Angel" and it actually isn't as disappointing as I expected, though I could live with less Ariana for sure (what really makes me wonder if there's an Ariana overkill lately as I would have adooored this just a year ago, similar situation with "7 Rings" or "Break Up").
btw speaking about this collaboration, Lana Del Rey was never an artist that stood out for you, or at least I can't remember seeing her having a hit on your charts?!

Glad you're enjoying "Mother", it's definitely a good song but I'm also worried by his success lately. Hopefully the third single will be even better and he may finally get a hit with it.

Funny how you say Meghan's in the same boat because at first I read the part about Charlie and immediately thought about Meghan as well... They both didn't change their sound that much but people turned away from them incredibly quickly, and for both it happened during their second albums even though both second albums had a very successful lead single. Aw, I enjoy "Genetics", it has a "Me Too" vibe to it for me

So far I'm enjoying "Charli" as a whole but the singles don't really stand out to me. The #5 debut is pretty good as the Top4 is very strong at the moment and I think the chances are pretty big for this album to become her most successful one to date.

                              Thank you

To be honest, Tove's singles haven't impressed me but I try to stay open for the album
Ah yes, they're both really good so I hope you will enjoy them! Grimes' "Violence" was already a great one on the first spin but grew on me even more the more I played it

Yes, the singles also didn't do much for me but the album is actually really good and I see "Glad He's Gone" and "Bad As The Boys" as two of the lowlights But "Sunshine Kitty" is as strong as her first two albums for me.

                                              • Oh gosh, I didn't know about the new Amy Lee's song! And I've been Evanescence's fan for years...
Not so many of my favourites, but somehow I kinda like your chart. Just one, sort of stupid maybe, question: why are there so few German/Schwizertuutsch songs on your chart?
Have you heard Ava's "Salt"? I find it better than SBP/SAI/Torn (though I like all three) - feeling that old 90's vibe there

Btw., have been to Zurich (well, due to being my transfer hub on the road to Turkey, but nevertheless) on March. I've really enjoyed the city - and also the fact that the airport is actually in a reasonable walking distance, not some 30 kms or more from the city centre...

                                                  Thanks for coming by!

Yeah, she collaborated on a song of Lindsey Stirling's new album and I think it's amazing. Maybe you've already heard about Evanescence's European tour next year together with Within Temptation? They also said they plan to release new music in 2020 so I'm super excited about that!
Thanks! And that's not a stupid question... actually, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers I don't know why, but somehow songs in Swiss-German/German rarely click with me. It happens more often that one of those is doing well for me lately, but I still prefer English songs. No idea why, but I just like them more.
                                                  No, I haven't - I'll check it out!

Oh... glad you've enjoyed the city! It's definitely a beautiful one

**Nod** Well said! The fact that so much data is stored online or "in the cloud" now not only means we could instantly lose days/months/years' worth of work, but also have our bank/credit card information or entire identity stolen (as opposed to "back in the day," where someone would have to physically mug you or break into your house to steal your important documents, money, etc). I think I've mentioned this before, but I also worry about how technology isolates us. In many ways, technology does bring people together, but it also encourages people to live their entire social lives via screens and rarely engage with people in "real life." Even though we can text friends anywhere anytime, which is awesome, it can also feel really lonely if none of those friends live close enough to actually go out/hang out with. Not only does that leave us lonely, but disconnected/less empathic in general (due to minimal face-to-face contact).

I think "Lover" may not have a high peak but should have great longevity (similar to "Delicate") and I'd be totally fine with that
Same! I mean, a higher peak would be appreciated too but longevity like "Delicate" would be nice enough.

Well...right now, I'd say Sunshine Kitty is my least favorite album of Tove's but I often feel that way about an artist's most recent release, possibly because I need more time to grow attached to all these brand-new songs (unless they're REALLY charming right away, like much of Lover). I usually need more than a week to properly sort out my faves from the fillers. It also doesn't help that SK dropped shortly after two more "instant" albums like Lover and Charli.

Also cool you're mentioning that survivor as it re-ally brought back a lot of joy when it comes to UKMix... I mean, back when I joined it used to be that busy in all places on the forum and I've really missed that, actually I've been thinking about these 'old' time a lot lately...

Yeah, I've never really gotten into Lana (the Cedric Gervais Remix of "Summertime Sadness" is her only Top 10 on my chart), but I don't think she's the reason I don't love DCMA. It's just not catchy/infectious overall (the chorus doesn't stick in my head, or make me want to sing along - it just makes me want to listen to other Ari songs).

They both didn't change their sound that much but people turned away from them incredibly quickly, and for both it happened during their second albums even though both second albums had a very successful lead single. Aw, I enjoy "Genetics", it has a "Me Too" vibe to it for me
Ah, true that! Very similar vibes/attitude.

                                                    • Meghan's randomly dropped a few new songs lately ("Run Like The River," "Genetics"), but I completely forgot to add this one so thanks for the reminder! On first listen, it sounds pretty different for her. I don't hear any trace of doo-wop or her usual body positivity/"I'm hot shit, so you best respect" themes. In honor of her first No. 1 here, I've gotta ask for her updated chart history!
                                                    • Aw, sorry I missed Grimes's week on top. Your enthusiasm for "Violence" has definitely encouraged me to give it more listens, and while I don't think it'll ever grow on me quite as much as it did on you, I'm warming up to it more now.
                                                    • I forgot about Zedd's new single too! I guess one "downside"/side effect to streaming is that I can focus on full albums so easily (Lover, Charli, Sunshine Kitty), I sometimes forget to check for random new singles too. Funnily, I was just saying how Meghan's new single is void of doo-wop, but "Good Thing" actually has a slight retro-soul/doo-wop feel to it!
                                                    • Hmmm...a No. 3 debut is still quite good, but I was expecting even higher for Sunshine Kitty after seeing you mention how you liked it a lot more than Blue Lips. Did that excitement wear off as the week progressed, or was competition just that stiff? (I know Lindsey's a legendary force here, so going up against her isn't easy).

Yet another chart I loved diving into, Tancel!
