I thought that I worked out Joe is probably about 63 if he started primary school in 1950 when he would've been 7 (hence him being born in 1943). But I thought Bert was no older than 55, yet he met Bert in the 50s!? Let's say the latest they met was 1959 - Joe would've been 16 and Bert would've had to have been at least that too, so they're basically saying Bert is 63 :-?

Carly is awful, yes, and EE might have gone back a few steps recently but they're getting rid of a lot of dead wood and introducing some great new characters/actors.

The one I'm most excited about is the character of Tania Branning, mother of Lauren and Abi Branning, to be played by:



Jo Joyner, famous as Beth in No Angels and Linda Moss in 2 episodes of Dr. Who

I've had numerous e-mails over the past few weeks regarding the hoard of rumoured characters who are supposedly gearing up to make their first appearance in Walford.

Thus far, I've had 10 names thrown at me, so I decided to do some digging and find out who actually will be walking around Albert Square.

The answer is only three out of the 10 will be making an appearance in the forseeable future.

The character of Sean Slater WILL be joining later this year. Among those actors rumoured to be playing the part is Abs Breen of former boyband 5ive fame. Sean is the brother of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and the son of Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

It might be a coincidence but Jean Slater is returning in the summer and Sean Slater will joining later this year... We'll just have to wait and see if both events coincide.

As yet, the role has yet to be cast.

There's also the news of Lauren and Abi Branning - who are also yet to be cast - following the announcement of Jo Joyner joining the show who will play their mother Tania Branning.

Now here's the list of those characters which the scriptwriters currently have no plans for at the moment - that's not to say the characters may never arrive as my insider told me 'never say never'. But for now, here are the ones not joining for the forseeable future:

Ryan Macer

Carly's voice has the most annoying tone to it ever. She sounds like she's constantly being sarcastic. It's like:

"Tomorrow, it's 5 years since he died"

This Ben/Phil/Ian storyline is an absolutle pile of compost, when they speak you can actually see the steam from the crap sentances rise out of their mouths.

Ok, exageration but still. All they've done is stopped a popular character (Kathy) from ever returing and gave themselves an extra 2/3 months of awkward story until Ben lives with one of them.

And Burt? Piss off. Take Joe with you. You make we want to scrape my head up and down a brick wall.

Running the ad for "New Tricks" again on the left side of the screen about 10 minutes into the episode added some badly-needed tension, whereas running the closing credits about 10 minutes prematurely (although they neglected to play the theme tune and thus obscure the dialogue) also helped perk up proceedings no end.
