Maybe it can do a Deadpool and significantly improve on the first.

Black Panther 2 receives May 2022 release

The highly-anticipated sequel to Black Panther will hit theaters on May 6th, 2022.

Director Ryan Coogler appeared at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday to announce the news. “I’m working on it trying to give fans something special,” Coogler said. He and Marvel head Kevin Feige also revealed the logo for the film, which you can see below.

The first Black Panther film starred Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.

It went on to gross $1.35 billion at the worldwide box office and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, with wins for Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design.

Beyond excited for this. This first one was sooo legendary. Had people truly in their feelings. I do however want better fight choreography and visual effects.

It is. 4 years without a sequel is a very long time.

I'm glad I'm not a fan, 4.5 years for a sequel to a horribly boring first movie is too much.

I didn't like it on the first watch that much. However on repeat viewing, its so so good

The movie was nice but it was way too overhyped. This long break may be risky, waiting too long can kill anticipation, but obviously, they don't want a sophomore slump which is understandable.

I thought that the 4.5 year gap was a bit much at first, but now I think it is a great idea. There was much hype and much (unwarranted imo) surrounding the film and it feels like it would be too soon. Plus, Marvel has a lot going on, and they need to find the right moment to add in new characters.

Plus, the film's director, Ryan Coogler will be working on Space Jam.

‘Black Panther’ Sequel Casts Michaela Coel (EXCLUSIVE)

Michaela Coel has joined the ensemble cast of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the sequel to the hit Marvel film “Black Panther.”

Character details are locked up, per usual. Insiders say Coel has joined director Ryan Coogler at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios, where production began last month. Marvel Studios declined to comment on the matter.

Coel exploded onto Hollywood’s radar in 2020 with her critically acclaimed HBO Max series “I May Destroy You,” for which she’s received four Emmy nominations. In addition to writing, directing and producing, Coel starred in the show as a popular writer processing rape trauma in contemporary London.

Coel’s credits include the Netflix programs “Black Mirror” and “Chewing Gum,” and the feature films “Been So Long” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” She is not currently represented by a talent agency. She works through her indie label Falkna Productions, which co-produced “I May Destroy You.”

I feel that she may play a Dora Milaje. They have interesting stories. Some even become villains.

The way Grace Jones would fit perfectly. Already had that idea when watching the first movie.
