And so far I have been underwhelmed. Just cos you loved it doesn't mean everyone else has to.

OT - I may just go straight to Bly Manor next week.

“Hill House” is more than just horror. It’s actually a drama.

Don't get me wrong, it looks stunning. The performances are strong. The production is legit. That episode with the long, camera-choreographed scenes was beautiful to watch. Thin Hat Man was creepy. Bent Neck Lady was creepy too.

But there was something that didn't click for me, and I think it's ultimately because I found the characters.... blah. They're all dark, depressive and moody. They're all impacted by trauma, I get this, but none of it is their fault... They are perpetual victims and there's not a single moment of levity, or lightness to break up the somber mood.

I read an article that suggested this was what S1 of AHS wished it could be.... but the big difference is, in that show, I rooted for the characters, even the ones that took questionable actions. And at least some comedic moments to even it out.

TLDR; It's beautiful and depressing and kinda boring.
I haven't gotten past episode 4 of the first series yet. And I definitely think people raved about it too much. I mean, so far it's watchable, but definitely not at all terrifying like some have said here. I would say it is good but definitely nothing extraordinary. I was expecting a lot more from it.

No. And thank God because that one is already perfect as it was, it doesn’t need a sequel.

This is S2, but this is an anthology series meaning that each season will deal with a different “haunting” story.

Everything is explained and comes full circle, surely you could have figured that out…

Thank you so much for the clarification. I was not aware prior to this.

I don’t think S2 was as strong or better than S1 (“Hill House” was just another level) however I still think “Bly Manor” was solid enough.

Two very different shows though. While the first season was a horror drama hybrid this second season was more of a mystery / supernatural romance story.

The first few episodes were ok, there were a couple in the middle that were too slow paced and it does get quite boring at some parts but it definitely picks up again towards the final episodes. I liked the nature of the haunting and I think the ending was sad, pretty and gentle at the same time.

Overall the show was sophisticated with good cinematography and I have to praise Victoria Pedretti’s (who played Dani) acting on this show, she really gave a stellar performance, particularly for the final episode.

I agree. I havent actually gotten past episode 4 cos i forgot about this. And I did not find it remotely scary. I dont get how people were saying this is terrifying !! That was Season 1, episodes 10.

I also see The Haunting of hill house Season 2 with 9 episodes as well as The Haunting of Bly manor season 1 also with 9.

Never seen S1 (if you can call it like that) but binge watched S2 over the weekend. I enjoyed it, it got a bit boring around the middle of the series but the ending made up for it.

The Haunting of Bly Manor has premiered on Netflix today!

    Synopsis from Wikipedia:
"The story tells of a young governess hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises."

Thanks, didn't get to start it yet maybe tonight!

My main issue with these series are I watch too many episodes together and get bored! If this series was on TV it would probably air once a week or something.
