A trailer for one of the most anticipated movies this year has been released and it looks really promising. I feel J. Lo will shine in this role

HUSTLERS, which is inspired by a viral 2016 New York Magazine article, follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Their scheme pays off and the women ride a wave of extravagance, living a life of decadence and glamour. But when greed gets the best of them, friendships are threatened and the law starts closing in.

Starring: Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Mercedes Ruehl, Trace Lysette, Mette Towley, Madeline Brewer and Frank Whaley

    Out September 13th. Can't wait!

    Bring it on! Looks amazing.

Was this really filmed in March and is being released in September? I have zero idea about how films are produced, but that seems like such a quick turnaround!

Yes, it's insanely fast, but Lorene Scafaria (the writer and director of this) is known for her fast, but respected work. She explained once she easily became obsessed with projects she was involved, so she worked 24/7. Add the fact that this one she marked as the most important one in her career so far, that she's been developing this story for more than 2 years and that she had envisioned this move in her head for some time now. Plus she got all the actresses she wanted which makes the job easier with her vision.

Btw, the first version is done already and the test screening is tonight!

It's heading to $20M+ debut (increase from the initial $13M prediction).

Also, after screening for critics, it was proclaimed as a strong contender for award season. It got 8 screenings at upcoming Toronto film festival. Acclaimed-Lo is back

Her last movie The Meddler, which was huge critical success, was also done in record time.

Anyway, Hollywodd Reporter estimates $24M+ debut

Those tracking numbers are fantastic and there are still three weeks left. It would be amazing to see this pulling off a "Girls Trip" and have a +/- 30 millon opening weekend. Even with those 24 million, it would likely become Jen´s best opening weekend in the US.

This is going to be another Finesse situation where I just have to go along with it, except this time its double the trouble.

Film Festival 2019 Preview: 12 Biggest Movies With Oscar Chances

There are a surprising amount of movies playing at this year’s festival season that are adapted from articles. Hustlers may be the most anticipated of this bunch, if only because of its truly irresistible hook. Based on a piece from New York magazine, Hustlers follows a group of strippers, led by Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez, who decide to take on the rich Wall Street jerks who visit their club every night and fleece them for all they have. Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell on producer duties, Hustlers has a tricky tone to nail. How do you tackle what these women did, acknowledge the Robin Hood-esque fantasy of it, but not romanticize just how dark the truth got? It’s a tough job but the movie also has serious indie breakout potential and it remains depressingly rare to see a film with a female majority cast alongside a woman director. Hustlers will make its world premiere at TIFF.

                                                          by Jason Guerrasio, Business Insider

                                                          “Hustlers”

There are a lot of things to love about this movie, especially its incredible cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, and Cardi B. But what may give it an award season edge are the talents of its writer-director Lorene Scafaria ("Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, "The Meddler") who takes the "us versus them" mentality following the financial crisis and turns it into a gripping crime drama.
                                                          “Hustlers”
                                                          (STX Entertainment, Sept. 13)
                                                          Director: Lorene Scafaria
Cast: Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, Lizzo
Ever since I saw “Hustlers” at an early screening, I can’t stop raving about it. Every Oscars season, there’s a movie that sneaks up on the pundits. And I have a feeling that this dramatic comedy written and directed by Lorene Scafaria will be a box office hit and critical darling. Set in 2008, at the height of the financial crisis, a group of strippers at a New York club take extreme measures to stay in business. If there’s any justice, Jennifer Lopez will receive her first Oscar nomination for channeling the ringleader Ramona as Erin Brockovich by way of Matthew McConaughey in “Magic Mike.” — Ramin Setoodeh, Variety

I have to admit: the trailer looks kind of interesting. This might be the first J.No movie role I’ll like since Maid in Manhattan (which was more guilty pleasure anyway ).
