"Thunder" is not a Rock song hence thats why it isn't included.

I would be glad to remove No Doubt's "Don't Speak" tho . . . I included it just for being nice to Gwen Stefani but it is the more mellow song on the list and my guys from System Of A Down are waiting at #51 with their stunning "Toxicity" to break the countdown.

If the No Doubt frontwoman was Shirley Manson or Tori Amos, it would not be categorized as pop. It really depends on how the artist pulls it off, and seeing that Gwen turned into a pop star, it's considered by some as a pop song now.

              • My dearest friend Artiom released a new video, actually it was released in February, but I've decided to post it to our forum now.
I ask everyone to watch this video. You'd be impressed. I'm simply hypnotised by mysterious Artiom's voice. I hope you will either. Also feel free to leave comments under his video.

Extreme - More Than Words - 306 million (acoustic, but still considered rock)
Maná - Amor Clandestino - 242 million views (close)
A couple of latin rock bands have 100+ million views music videos as well (Sin Bandera, La Ley, etc).

You're quite right. Gwen's perception changed over the years, she's seen as a very girly and stylish popstar these days, but back in the 90s she and her band were seen as Rock and Ska-Punk. However I did checked "Don't Speak" carefully and I realized that it was nomintated for Best Pop Duo / Group performance at the Grammys, so it seems like the was always considered Pop which lead me to inmediately remove the it from the list. Their other 90s singles are definitely Rock, but don't have enough views to make the list.

I can't decide regarding "More Than Words". Do you think I should add it to the list? For me its very acoustic and mellow although I can see why some consider it part of the Rock genre, there's a misconception that Rock always have to be heavy and loudy and that isn't really true. There are Rock ballads as well, perhaps "More than words" could be that - a rock ballad? ..... However after what happened to No Doubt's "Don't Speak" which got removed from the list for being "Too Pop" I don't really see how "More Than Words" is that much different than "Don't Speak".

Well, every breath you take could be considered pop too, but i dont even understand the need to divide songs success by genre.

Its not really about dividing success by genre, I'm just trying to compile a list for the Top Rock songs on Youtube.

And you're right about "Every breath you take", it does have some rock influence but its also pretty mellow and Pop. I'll be definitely removing that one! .... That would make space Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Otherside" to enter the list

They have a massive legacy that remains relevant to this date. Their impact in the music scene was too big to just be ignored, their debut album "Appetite for destruction" went 18x Platinum in USA alone and its a catalogue staple, the album is responsible for yielding one of the biggest and most timeless classic songs of all time ("Sweet Child O' Mine") which gets superb recurrent stats and its part of the pop culture.

Their massive success extended through the 90s pulling two other back to back blockboster albums selling close to 20m units with each. During this period they released the evergreen classics "Don't Cry" and "November Rain", the later being a defining song and music video from the MTV era and music in general.

Additionally Guns N Roses always combined a lot of stylism and fashion with rock music, always using great aesthetics and high cinematography sense for their music videos and presentation as a band.

Even though they were unactive for many years and are past their prime they are one of those Acts that will always be relevant. Their music still lives and its recurrent up to this date.

Seems like you all have a very narrow definition of what qualifies as rock.

Some of Linkin Park's most recent music wasn't real rock (I had to disqualify a few songs). But when they started out they were rock. They were not R&B, they were not bubblegum, they were not dance, they were not Jazz . . . they were rock whether people like it or not.
