I hate when people post content that's already been posted before especially if it was the very last post

All those people who quote those long posts with pictures or a YouTube video especially when the post they are quoting is the last one in the thread

Mariah's vocal versatility is unparalleled. There was/is so much to her voice.

    EAI,

Maybe not slice in half, but if rank her with or even above them. Personal opinion of course.

Now Stephanie, Phyllis, Shirley, and Chaka... slice

    It was a joke
Mariah was also a background singer btw.

Not doubting it, I'm just surprised that you think she can slice Celine, Whitney, or Mariah in half vocally

Mimi, Celine, and Whitney are definitely the 3 most popular vocalist of the last 30 years (maybe all time) but many vocalist from the 80s and 90s would slice them in half vocally. Lisa Fischer, Chaka Khan, Shirley Murdock, Anita Baker, Phyllis Hyman, Teena Marie, Coko, Kelly Price, STEPHANIE MILLS, etc.... none of these women dominated the world charts like the 3 divas, but vocally, they were much better imo.

    Also Anita??

Great music, great musician, but as a live performer??

I guess it's just a matter of taste then.

^^^ Most of those women I named were unique vocalist.

At times, Lara Fabian sounds just like Celine.

Kelly Price better than Mariah Whitney and Celine?
As in Mariah's former background singer Kelly Price (jk )

The thing about Celine, Whitney and Mariah is that there voices were all very distinctive. It wasn't about who could belt the highest, it was about how unique their voices are. No one else can sound remotely like them. And their tones are all unmatched.

Kelly can sang, don't get me wrong, but there isn't a distinctive quality that sets her apart from any other lady at church that can sing.

It is so sad what has happened to you lately :(, I wish I could help. I need to start to value my family members more, I will definitely be missing them one day and it will be too late to change things :(.

I do not get why she has been this nervous for such a long time. It is not because of Rockefeller or the NYE performance because it started much earlier or maybe it has always been present.

And that's another reason why some people may think she is more a studio artist than a live performer, because she is always nervous on TV and it does not look singing on TV comes effortlessly like breathing.

I guess it's a problem with her being so damn nervous. Her concerts have been better that her live TV performances for well over a decade now. She hasn't had a great TV performance since like 2012/2013 and a lot has happened since then. Probably why everyone thinks she lost her voice, which isn't the case, but a very popular understandable misconception.

I would probably stop performing live on TV, (by live I do not mean singing live, but televised performances) if I were her, it is not you can gain a lot but you can definitely lose a lot.

She lips on TV and is always jittery as if it were her first time live on television.

These days, Mariah is good more often than she is not good - what ultimately drives her reputation into the pits and does her a massive disservice is her inability to bring her A GAME when it matters.

I use Céline as an example here - she recently coached on an episode of The Voice US and she made what has become quite a relevant statement: "You cannot be good all the time. You have to be good when it's time." And it sums Mariah up - she spends the year putting out stellar vocals that really does disprove any notion that she's lost her voice and then she does a televised live performance and it's never very good anymore.

On the subject of Mariah's live singing, she was absolutely phenomenal in the early 90s - Beyoncé probably is the finest vocalist of her generation but she hasn't ever come close to early 90s Mariah.

Any negative view about Mariah not being a very good live vocalist in the 90s is rendered null and void by that performance.

As far as female vocalists go - during my lifetime at least - there is a reason why Whitney, Mariah and Céline are revered more than anyone else - they are simply the 3 greatest female vocalists of the last 30 years.
