Ray of Light was great to listen to back in 1998. Now, apart from 5-6 tracks, i don't like that album. If it were up to me, i would've released it as an EP with 5 or 6 songs on it.

    Shania Twain (Come on Over)
    Janet Jackson (Velvet Rope)
    Celine (Lets Talk About Love)
    Aaliyah (Are You That Somebody)
Lauryn Hill (The Miseducation of LH)
    Brandy/Monica (The Boy Is Mine)
    Madonna (Ray of Light)
    Mariah (Butterfly)
Whitney and Mariah (When You Believe)
    Britney (Baby... One More Time)

Also it was the only year at the Grammys that only women were nominated for AOTY.
Ray of Light beats them all without any doubt, the only ones who come close are The Velvet Rope and Alanis' Junkie. Even Madonna haters like spiritboy have to agree.

"Butterfly" and "The velvet rope" were released in 1997 tho. Just like "Homogenic" from Björk and "Impossible princess" from Kylie Minogue.

"Ray of light" from Madonna and "Supposed former infatuation junkie" from Alanis Morissette are two of my favorite female albums from 1998.
