Well they have split but beyond that it's just tabloid BS.

Her personality puts me off. It's not only about Madonna. I liked her a lot in the beginning, she was a breathe of fresh air. I still enjoy her music but i see her as a freak these days.
I am glad she is less wannabe a freak these days than she used to be, the current era seems more focused about music, the most important thing.
The only thing different is her over the top costumes. Other than that, she's still the same imo. It was painful to watch Carpool Karaoke with all her "theatrical mimics" and all
I have not watched her Carpool, so I can't answer . I am glad she left the costumes behind, she was sometimes just too much .

She's produced great numbers for such a shaky start to the era. Imagine how much more she'd smash if she came with the right sound and single

I think she came with right sound and people feel it. That's why her opening numbers are good and the album will have longevity. Poor haters though, they wanted her to be over so much

                        • I personally think Gaga is not doing that good. Those numbers are not enough to compete with her main peers (Adele, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Rihanna, etc), lets not forget she was outselling all of them in 2010.

I think people are just relieved her album opened decently in US, but she is scoring some of her worst career debuts in several countries so far, and she's missing the Top 3 and Top 5 in several markets. Lets see how she does in the long run, but I think this will be her lowest selling effort, her decline hasn't really stopped and she's just 7 years deep since her 2009 dominace.

The opening week means nothing IMO, lets not forget that Christina Aguilera even pulled her biggest opening week of her career in US, UK and worldwide with "Back to basics".

                              • Joanne deserves to do well, but the reality is that given all the hype put into this project, the goodwill from American Horror Story, the Oscars, the Grammys, the Golden Globes, the upcoming Super Bowl performance, the actual reinvention away from shock value people have been looking for, she could do a lot better. I do think Million Reasons could be the ace in the hole for this project though, people are responding better to it than Perfect Illusion and it's more of a slow burner type of song that could have legs.

Remember Katy grows and finds longevity with each album. With Gaga is the opposite she falls with each album. It even reached a whole new level when Katy Perry's Prism tour outgrossed Artpop Tour when some years ago Katy wasn't even considered a touring act, remember that Katy is steady and a grower.

Well, when TD came out, Katy wasn't yet taken seriously. Back in 2009-2010 people saw her as a distant rate comparison to Gaga... she wasn't Christina to Britney, but more like Jessica Simpson to Britney. At the time, few took her seriously and expected her to be more than some chick with a couple catchy hits... that changed during the TD era, and TD has extensive legs and many smash hits, Gaga on the other hand has seen the top of the mountain and is still coming down, Katy was still rising when TD came out.

                                    • ^ Exactly, actually between Gaga and Katy, Katy was the one that people expected to not last at all or fall first while everyone guaranteed blockbuster success to Gaga for many years, and in fact the opposite happened and Katy's career has grown tremendously ever since.

Funny how much those two mirror Madonna and Cyndi Lauper in the 80s. In 1984-1985, people saw Madonna as some pop fad who'd be old news by 1987 while Cyndi was predicted to be the female equivilent to MJ and nobody thought Madonna would outlast her. It is exactly the same as how people in 2009-2010 scoffed at Katy as this lightweight pop hack next to the genius of Gaga who was going to be the biggest star in the universe.

katy is still local. Marco Mengoni is the uber-legend from that timeline. he debuted in 2009 and has become a bigger michael jackson. so there goes your theory.

The same thing exactly happened again in late 90s early 00s, when most people viewed Xtina as the new promising female act that would outlast every female then while Britney who lost the Grammy for Best new artist to Xtina was supposed to be a fluke that wouldn't last more than 2 albums and would share the same fate of the Spice Girls, Tiffanny and Debbie Gibson.

In fact Cyndi herself said in her own book that she and Madonna in the 80s were like Britney and Xtina.

It just seems that these type of stories repeat in every generation and the "superficial" act that everyone expects to fall ends outlasting the supposed talented and promising diva. It all happened again with Katy / Gaga.
