You don't need validation from anyone else. You're so much more than a "fat pig". Someone does want you and care for you genuinely, maybe you don' know yet but someone really does.

I haven't either. I did watch like 10 minutes now and again to see why everybody loved that show, but to me it never seemed funny and could never watch a full episode.

Same, I have never seen a full episode.

S6-9 seem to get shown more than the other seasons

                        S6 is the absolute worst.
But I commend the shows longevity. I don't know any other show that has such a high-played syndication rate.

                        • S6 didn't really go anywhere.

In terms of cliffhanger, it started off with Chandler and Monica getting married and ending with them getting engaged! What kinda backwardness?!

Janine was awful. The aftermath of Ross and Rachel getting married didn't pay off. Phoebe and Rachel living together didn't give us anything.

Yeah, it was a pretty bland season.

                          • Elle McPherson has to be one of the worst guest star ever on Friends, even worse than Helen Baxendale (who was actually pretty good to play a character so irritating).

                            • What I hate about Friends is that after that show, EVERY series had to have it's own "Ross and Rachel". You can argue Cheers started this with Sam And Diane a decade earlier, but even that show wasn't as dominated with those two (and plus, Sam and Diane mercifully came to an end when Shelley Long left the show) but with Friends, it seemed like every cliffhanger had something to do with those two and it was painfully obvious at least five years prior to the ending that the show would ultimately end with those two permanently getting back together,

To me, Big Bang Theory is a perfect example of a show that became unwatchable when the powers that be decided to turn it into Friends. The first few seasons were fresh and hilarious and then it had to go and become a soap, and Leonard and Penny worked better together when they were platonic friends and he was the nerdy scientist pining for a girl who was way out of his league. Once they got together and it became about "Ross and Rachel"-ing them, it got boring quick.

                                • What I love about my show 'Mom' is that there are none of these on-off romances. The show is not designed to tug at the heartstrings of romantics and teenagers. Whenever there is drama, it is real drama, like a central character overdosing or another denying she has an alcohol problem. I love this show because it has found the perfect balance between comedy and drama - it can be side splittingly funny or heart wrenchingly sad.

And it never feels like a soap either because the storylines are all scattered around, never continuing episode after episode.

I'm glad they ended it when they did, some S10 episodes were shocking (TOW Joey Speaks French being the prime example).

I need to finish watching Mom, I think I stopped around halfway through S2 but, in terms of performers, Faris and Janney are outstanding. I know everyone harps on about Allison Janney but Anna Faris deserves just as much credit.

                                      • Friends benefited from being comfort television and staying in a familiar timeslot for so many years. Big Bang Theory (in season 10 and is the #2 show in the US) currently benefits from the same situation, Seinfeld, Cheers and MASH in the past were able to do the same and were still highly rated hits 9-11 years into their runs when they ended. Seinfeld was #1 its last season, MASH #3 and Cheers was #6 I believe). After this many seasons, those characters become so familiar to people that it's like catching up with old friends.

omg French was the worst episode of the entire series. I know some people hate the one from season 9 with the shark porn, but that one is just weird enough that it was actually hilarious.

I think seeing Phoebe and Mike married could have been fun. Errbody was over Ross and Rachel long before S10. And seeing Monica and Chandler raising a family would have been torture - scene after scene of Monica being pushy and then every once in a while, a scene where Chandler comes up as the hero.

Definitely ended at the right time

                                            • Phoebe should've had the spinoff, not Joey. Joey was so one-dimensional and by the end they had dumbed his character down so much to where you wondered how he knew how to get out of bed. Wasn't a shock when the spinoff failed, even though I do feel like the spinoff should've at least had a few appearances from the other Friends, kinda like how everyone from Cheers barring Kirstie Alley appeared on Frasier at some point.

I haven't seen a single episode of 'Joey'. Absolutely the worst choice for the spin-off.

                                                We could have had:
                                                - Monica and Chandler raising a family in the suburbs (actually, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad, even though Chandler was my least fave by this point)
                                                - Ross and Rachel finally together (hmm, maybe boring. Perhaps they should have relocated to Paris)
                                                - Phoebe and Mike newlyweds (potential!)

                                                • What's also interesting about these series is to see which cast member ends becoming the biggest star eventually.

During early Friends, Courtney Cox was presented as the leading actress of Friends while the rest was in "supporting role", the other cast members had to initially submit themselves in the supporting categories for the Emmy Awards and in fact Lisa Kudrow won her Emmy award as "Best supporting actress" while Coutrney was presented for the Lead category, she was considered to be the only star of the group (she was starring on the "Screams" films at the time as well) and she had the highest salary among the Friends cast, until one day producers realized every character was popular and there were even some that seemed to be more public favorites than Courtney (Monica), so every cast member was raised to Lead Actors categories all in the same condition and all of their salaries were matched to be the same. Life is ironic and later it would be Jennifer Aniston the one that would eventually become the biggest superstar of the cast.

Something similar happened with "Dawson's Creek", Katie Holmes was predicted to be the new promising star but eventually Michelle Williams overtook her and now enjoys great success as an actress scoring Oscar nominations nearly every year.

                                                  • ^Courtney was the only one who was somewhat known before 1994, that was why she was presented as the star early on. She'd been well known from the Bruce Springsteen video and for playing Michael J. Fox's girlfriend on Family Ties (which at its peak was #2 in the ratings, so it was a very big show) and for various movies she'd been in. At the time, she was the only one of the six who was a familiar face, that's why she was initially promoted as the biggest star, because in 1994 she was the one who was somewhat of a star by then. In comparison, Aniston was known for being in Leprechaun lol.

To be truthful, I always liked Cox better than Aniston, but Aniston always had an "it" quality that drew people to her.
