My rock chick colleague said the only Maddy song she knows is Like a Prayer (although she didn’t know the title)

I hate the pretentious rock fans. I’m sorry, but as a person born in Toronto in 1986, you know more than that

They think rock is so much better than any other genre and they are quick to pull their best songs lists out which are written by rock fans.

Glad the GP and charts have ignored rock for more than a decade now.

But pop fans aren‘t better, as the second part of your post just showed. Pop isn‘t better than rock and rock isn‘t better than pop. Everyone has their own taste.

I feel sorry for religious people sometimes. They have to represss so many aspects of themselves & they basically spent their lifes worshipping something that doesn't have a single piece of evidence that it exists.
